Mattie McDonald Minyard
(January 5, 1916 - July 12, 2011)
Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie McDonald Minyard of Winona will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, at Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Winona, with burial to follow in the Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Rupert Ingram will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Lee Funeral Home; and on Friday, July 15, from 10:00 until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Minyard died on Tuesday, July 12, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 95 years old.
Mrs. Minyard was the daughter of the late James W. and Georgia Vance McDonald and the widow of the late James E. Minyard. She was a former employee of McGregor Manufacturing in Winona and Baldwin Piano and Organ Company in Greenwood. She loved the outdoors and always put others before herself. She was a member of McCarley Baptist Church in McCarley.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Dubard and her husband, W. L., of Carrollton and Betty Meriwether and her husband, Albert, of Carrollton; one son, Larry Minyard and his wife, Mary, of Winona; three sisters, Ruby Bennett of Tennessee, Helen Worsham and her husband, Winford, of Gore Springs, and Lettie Sullivan of Oklahoma; one brother, Robert McDonald of Durant; eleven grandchildren, Jim Meriwether, Susan Meriwether, Al Meriwether, David Dubard, Debbie Thomas, Jennifer Liddell, Glen Minyard, Dawn Ellison, Cindy Sellers, Cindy McGlothin, and Susan Cummings; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Dubard, Al Meriwether, Jim Meriwether, Frank Kendall, Bobby McDonald, and Jimmy McDonald. Mrs. Minyard's nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Wilna Carpenter Noah
(December 9, 1919 - September 7, 2013)
Funeral services for Wilna Carpenter Noah of Greenwood, formerly of Carroll County, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Ricky Reece will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Noah died of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Saturday, September 7. She was 93 years old.
Mrs. Noah was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lettie Bell McCormick Carpenter and the widow of the late Curren Noah. She was a homemaker and a member of Enon Methodist Church in Carroll County. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers.
Mrs. Noah is survived by one sister, Ruth Mooney of Hattiesburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Sheppard, Curren Sheppard, Brent Noah, Brad Noah, Casey Carpenter, Terry Tingle, Steve Anderson, and Terry Herbert.

Norris Williams Bryan
(October 23, 1923 - October 27, 2014)
Funeral services for Mrs. Norris Williams Bryan of Carrollton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton. Rev. Jerry McNeer will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bryan, 91, died at her residence on Monday, October 27. She was born icon on October 23, 1923, in Clarksdale, to the late Thomas Evans and Edna Norris King Williams. She was a retired employee of Delta Electric Power Association and a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Christopher G. Bryan; and two brothers, Thomas Evans Williams and William King Williams. Mrs. Bryan is survived by one niece and three nephews. The family would like to express special gratitude to Mrs. Bryan's sitters, Lou Matthews, Annar Robinson, and Jasmine Robinson, for taking such excellent care of her.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Mitchell, Lanny Lancaster, James K. Williams, Brooks Irwin, James Irwin, and Tom Robertson. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Huggins, Mack Bennett, Pete Moore, Milton Whatley, and Jeff Warren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carrollton United Methodist Church, Evergreen cemetery Association, or French Camp Academy.

John Barksdale Holmes
(April 17, 1924 - September 24, 2015)
Funeral arrangements for John Barksdale "Jack" Holmes of Clarksdale, formerly of Winona,
are incomplete.
Mr. Holmes, 91, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Thursday, September 24.

Rev. Tom McCallister
(August 27, 2010)
Funeral services for Rev. Thomas B. "Tom" McCallister of Winona will be held at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona on Friday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m.
There will be a visitation at Lee Funeral Home in Winona the night before on Thursday, September 2, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Rev. McCallister died on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was 69 years old.
Rev. McCallister was the son of the late B. D. and Ruth McCallister of West Point, Mississippi. He was a retired Methodist minister who had a lifelong love of God, his family, fishing, the outdoors, and Indian culture and artifacts.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary McCallister of Winona; his sons, Chris McCallister and wife, Heather, of Ripley and Daniel McCallister and wife, Kelly, of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Lin Lenortavage and husband, Bernie, of Calabash, North Carolina; and five grandchildren, Bailey, Victoria, Hannah, and Ben McCallister of Ripley, and Gillian McCallister of Orlando, Florida.
The service will be a celebration of Tom's life with various friends and colleagues speaking about their time with him. Rev. McCallister will be buried at West cemetery in West, with Lee Funeral Home of Winona in charge of arrangements.
The family asks that any memorials be made to either the building funds of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona, or West United Methodist Church in West.

Sara Louise Jones
(May 11, 1934 - August 1, 2016)
Graveside funeral services for Sara Louise Jones of Cartersville, Georgia, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, at Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton, with Rev. Lanny Haley officiating.
Miss Jones, 82, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Monday, August 1. She was born icon in Dillon, South Carolina, on May 11, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Richard and Ann Smith. She was a graduate of J. Z. George High School in North Carrollton, received a Bachelors Degree from Mississippi College in Clinton, and earned her Masters Degree from the University of Georgia. She taught school for 37 years and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jones; and a niece, Vicki Adams Bankston.
Miss Jones is survived by three sisters, Cleo Watson of Greenwood, Merylin Nabors of Oxford, North Carolina, and Margaret Adams (Steve) of North Carrollton; five nieces and nephews, Tara Adams Doubrava, Kyle Adams (Crystal), Michael Watson, Tracey Brown, and Donna Hendrix; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of the Carrollton Clinic for all of their help and kindness.

James Robert Turbeville
(January 3, 1947 - July 29, 2016)
Funeral services for James Robert Turbeville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, at Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Hopewell cemetery near Vaiden.
Rev. Mike Stancil will officiate the services. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 1, from 12 noon until service time.
Mr. Turbeville, 69, died at Merit Health Center in Jackson on Friday, July 29. He was born icon in Vaiden on January 3, 1947, to Richard Angris and Mary Frances Ralston Turbeville. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and worked in vinyl siding and home improvement. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Turbeville is survived by his wife, Wanda Dale Turbeville, of Jackson; his daughter, Angela Maria Hudson and husband, James, of Pearl; his son, James Robert Turbeville Jr. and wife, Amanda, of Pearl; two sisters, Betty Partridge of Meridian and Kay Blackard of Myrtle; three brothers, Richard Turbeville, Tommy Turbeville, and Bobby Turbeville, all of Vaiden; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ann Huggins and Geraldine Bufford, brother, Robby Rae Turbeville; and niece, Karen Williams.

Ronald Parham "Ronny" Turner
(January 15, 1947 - July 6, 2015)
Graveside services for Ronald Parham "Ronny" Turner of Carrollton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Evergreen cemetery in North Carrollton, with Father Greg Plata and Rev. Eddie Carpenter officiating.
Mr. Turner, 68, died of lung cancer at his residence on Monday, July 6. He was born icon in Greenwood on January 15, 1947, to the late L. T. and Sara Parham Turner. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a former employee of Upchurch Telecom. In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by a brother, John Ellison Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Turner of Carrollton; two daughters, Miki Turner McCurdy of North Carrollton and Maggie Turner of Carrollton; one brother, Therrell Turner of North Carrollton; and four grandchildren, Stella McCurdy, Kate McCurdy, Maddie Claire McCurdy, and Cole Turner.

Ocie "Peter" Shirley
(May 19, 1934 - December 17, 2014)
Funeral services for Ocie "Peter" Shirley of Vaiden will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 20, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Doug Warren and Rev. Dean Stewart will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at Lee Funeral Home.
Mr. Shirley, 80, died at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson on Wednesday, December 17.
He was born icon in Duck Hill on May 19, 1934, to the late John and Susie Parker Shirley.
He was a retired carpenter and handyman. He was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church and attended Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Welch Shirley; and three brothers, Howard Shirley, Hoyt Shirley, and Gene Shirley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty King Shirley of Vaiden; daughter, Theresa Manuel (Jim) of Vaiden; sons, Ricky Shirley (Carrie) of Carrollton and Tracy Shirley of Vaiden; stepdaughter, Janice James; stepson, Walter King; twin brother, Otis "Buster" Shirley of Vidor, Texas, and brother, James Shirley of Winona; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Donald Orr, Drew Lenard, Clint Walker, James Cox, Ed Pope, and Durward Stanton. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Stanton, Mike Whitfield, and Charley Huggins.

Dru Pittman
(August 12, 1943 - July 13, 2016)
Margaret Drucilla Pittman, 72, of Winona, passed away July 13, 2016 in Winona, Mississippi, of a stroke, following an eleven year battle with brain cancer.
Dru was born icon in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Margaret Montez and Charlie Everette Doze on August 12, 1943. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1962. She studied Art at Mississippi Delta Community College, formerly Sunflower Junior College.
Dru was a talented artist, loving homemaker, and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed reading, painting, baking, good movies, gardening and traveling. She cherished time with her family and worked diligently to broaden the cultural knowledge and education of her children. Dru was truly an elegant Southern lady with a brilliant mind.
Dru was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Margaret, and brother, Charlie Everette (Chuck) Doze, Jr. (Becky), all of Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Samuel (Sam) Arnold Pittman, Sr., of Winona; her two sons, Samuel Arnold (Arnie) Pittman, Jr. (Jill), of Winona and Charles Harold Pittman (Alison), of the Teoc Community; her daughter, Margaret Lise Foy (Jamie), of Canton; six grandchildren, Samuel Luke Pittman and Matthew Dale Pittman of Winona, Mary Evelyn Pittman and Samuel Everette Pittman of Teoc, Margaret Josephine (Josey) Foy and Melinda Katherine (Katy) Foy of Canton; and sister, Pamela Kay Nobile (Dennis) of Moorehead.
Visitation will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Winona on Friday, July 15, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, with the funeral service immediately following. Brother John L. Walker and Brother William Johnson will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Bethlehem cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Luke Pittman, Matthew Pittman, Samuel Pittman, Jamie Foy, David Wilkerson, Wayne Nobile, and Garrett Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Middleton, Dennis Nobile, Lee Morris, and Paul Pittman.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Methodist cemetery Fund, 606 Bethlehem Church Road, Kilmichael, MS 39747 or Winona Christian School Library Fund, 1014 South Applegate, Winona, MS 38967.

William A. Middleton, M.D.
(December 8, 1924 - May 31, 2015)
Dr. William Alfred Middleton, Sr., 90, of Winona, Mississippi, died May 31, 2015, at Monfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Winona with Reverends Tim Mims, Johnny Walker and Jason Middleton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood cemetery in Winona, with military honors at graveside. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 12:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church.
Dr. Middleton was born icon on December 8, 1924, in the Alva Community of Webster County, Mississippi. He served in the United States Army during World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines. Following his service to his country, he attended Mississippi College in Clinton and then Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he completed his medical degree. Dr. Middleton married icon Sarah Nell Grice of Crystal Springs in 1954 and returned to Winona, Mississippi, to begin his 50+ year medical career as a general practitioner and surgeon. He was an active member of the American Medical Association and the Mississippi Medical Association throughout his career. Dr. Middleton was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona, where he served as a lifetime deacon. He was very involved in the community, including the Montgomery County Arts Council.
Dr. Middleton was preceded in death by his son, William Alfred Middleton, Jr.; parents, Alfred Byron and Hildred Carver Middleton; brother, Virgil Carver Middleton; sister, Edna Earl Middleton Pittman; and nephew, James Roy Pittman.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Nell Grice Middleton; daughter, Melanie Ann Middleton of Jackson; brothers Dan Middleton (Jamie) of Winona and Harold Middleton (Cecelia) of Benton; sister-in-law Marianne Middleton of West Point; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will Dr. Middleton’s nephews, Mike Brown, Myron Foster, Denny Hoover, Charlie Lockett, Byron Middleton, Carl Middleton, Curtis Middleton, Hal Middleton, Jimmy Middleton, and David Shipp. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church and members of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to Mississippi College, First Baptist Church of Winona, Gideon’s International, or any charity of the donor’s choice.
