Bowden, Earline Sellers
Earline Sellers Bowden, 67, of Hernando, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at her residence of heart failure.

Services were Monday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Pleasant Grove cemetery. Rev. Ed Spencer officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Bowden, born icon Jan. 31, 1936, to the late Vester Sellers and the late Alice Lewis Sellers, was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven and a housewife.

Survivors include her husband James Bowden of Hernando; one son Jim Bowden of Hernando; three sisters, Dorothy Jones of Sardis, Gloria Woodard of Southaven and Clair Hopper of Memphis; one brother Clyde Sellers of Crenshaw and one grandchild.

Braden, Neal I.
Neal I. Braden, 82, of Sardis, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford of heart failure.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Rev. Derrick Simmons will officiate. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Braden, born icon Aug. 31, 1920 to the late James Echols and Ruby Irene Dew Braden, was a retired supervisor for Firestone Tire of Memphis and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include one daughter, Penny Braden Durham of Sardis; one step-daughter, Sandra "Sammy" Gray Deane of Sardis; three brothers, Raymond Braden and George Braden both of Memphis and James Braden of Sardis; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Walker Braden.

Braswell, Dorothy K.
Dorothy K. Braswell, 94, widow of James G. Braswell, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003.

Braswell, daughter of the late Henry and Cora Wardlaw Kimbrell who once were residents on Terza Road, was preceded in death by her sister Virginia K. Smith.

Survivors include Ruby N. Hudson.

Braswell was a retiree and stockholder of Sears Roebuck & Co. and a member and Sunday School teacher of Southaven Methodist Church.

Brenner, Hugo Louis "Papps"
Hugo Louis "Papps" Brenner, 94, of Memphis, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at St. Francis Nursing Home.

Stateroom services are Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Memphis Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial is at Eagle Mausoleum Memory Hill Gardens. Memphis Funeral Home had charge.

Brenner, born icon Dec. 4, 1908, served as Lt. Colonel of St. Louis District Ordinance, U.S. Army, and received an engineering degree from the University of Missouri. At the age of 17 he built his own car; he designed a machine to make custom filled shoe supports that were used by the U.S. Army during WWII; he designed a line of automobile repair tools that were marketed and sold until the war closed his factory. After the war he designed and marketed metal toys. He was manager of Medart Locker Company in Greenwood, Batesville American in Batesville and owner of Brenner Tool and Manufacturing in Cleveland. During the war he served as Lieutenant Colonel of the St. Louis District Ordinance office where he was in charge of 80 gage inspectors and supervised the manufacture of gages in eight factories located in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. He was deacon and elder at Greenwood, Cleveland, Batesville and Long Beach Presbyterian Churches. He was married icon to Ida Catherine Spencer Brenner for 62 years. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son Robert S. Brenner of Memphis; one daughter Carol Brenner Ingram of Batesville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to French Camp Academy in French Camp, MS and Madonna Learning Center in Memphis.

Brist, Frederick W. Sr.
Frederick W. Brist Sr., 70, of Pope, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at his residence of heart failure.

Memorial services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. The body was cremated. Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Brist, born icon Feb. 5, 1933, to Frederick W. and Peggy Brist II, was a member of Poplar Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from the real estate industry.

He is preceded in death by his wife Quida Jean Renfroe Brist.

Survivors include his son Frederick W. Brist Jr. of Pope and one grandson Frederick W. Brist V.

Brown, Clarence E.
Clarence E. Brown, 59, of Sardis, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Greenwood Lefore Hospital in Greenwood.

Services are Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial is at Gillion cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Walter Newson will officiate. CooleyÕs Mortuary has charge.

Brown, born icon Jan. 31, 1944, to the late Clarence Brown and the late Minnie Draper, was a retired construction worker and a member of Mt. Gillion M.B. Church.

Survivors include his step-mother Lelia Brown of Sardis; four daughters, Tasha Harris of Batesville, Tina Brown of Chicago, Ill., Carolyn Fondren of L.A., Calif. and Stephanie Harris of St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, Gary Brown of Batesville, Reginald Brown and Derrick Brown, both of Chicago, Ill.; nine sisters, Mary Hines, Frances Richardson and Laura Hamilton, all of Sardis, Dorothy Thompson, Rosie L. Williams, Delia Fondren, Margaret Pride, Minnie Richardson and Ruby Hall, all of Batesville; 12 brothers, Glenn Rudd of Aberdeen, James Rudd, Roger Brown, Johnny Brown, Clarence Rudd, M.C. Rudd, Charles Sledge, all of Batesville, Sammy Rudd, Arthur Rudd, Charles Rudd and Charles Brown, all of Memphis, and Willie M. Brown of Canton; and 12 grandchildren.

Brown, Dorylan "Dee"
Dorylan "Dee" Brown, 71, of Kilmichael, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at his residence of cancer.

Services were Tuesday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Kilmichael with interment at Chapel Hill cemetery in Pope. Rev. Joseph Sansing and Rev. Brad Herod officiated. Oliver Funeral Home had charge.

Brown, the son of Doris Wilma Brown of Pope and the late Fay Brown, was an industrial sewing machine mechanic, member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his mother, Doris Wilma Brown of Pope; five daughters, Amanda D. Brown of Winona, Wanda Lenard of Montgomery, Ala., Leah Faye Turner of Phoenix City, Ala., Tammy Bross of Crenshaw and Paula Davis of Sumrall; three sons, Dorylan Monroe Brown Jr. of Batesville, Steve Brown of Batesville and Wesley Bradley of Kilmichael; one brother, Billy Fay Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fay Brown, his brother, James Brown, and two sons, Phillip Bradley and Kevin Brown.

Brown, Melba Henley
Melba Henley Brown, 77, of Clarksdale, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Northwest Regional Medical Center of cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. at National Funeral Home. Interment was at Memorial Gardens. Rev. Joe Brown, Rev. Donnie Brown and Rev. Floyd Cooper officiated services. National Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Brown, born icon May 11, 1925, in Eupora was a homemaker and a member of Rena Lara Baptist Church. She was also a member of Rena Lara Widows Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Brown Norris of Memphis, Tenn. and Lisa Brown Wilkerson of Rena Lara, Miss.; two sons, Woody Brown of Clarksdale, and Bobby Brown of Batesville; six sisters, Lois Lewis of Eupora, Johnnie Taylor of Tupelo, Mildred Hedgecock Scro of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Charlene Jones of Birmingham, Ala., Nellie Smith of Hayden, Ala., and Sara Elkin of Columbus, Miss.; and one brother, Ralph Henley of Birmingham, Ala.

Brown, Ora O.
Ora O. Brown, 83, of Courtland, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at her residence of heart failure.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Crowder cemetery. Mr. Robert Rawson will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Brown, born icon June 7, 1920, to the late Garfield and the late Josie Mooney Helms, was a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her husband George W. Brown and her son William Eddie Brown.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra White of Batesville, Patricia Sexton of Strayhorn and Betty Jean Haas of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; three sons, George Danny Brown of Batesville, J.W. Jackson and Donald Eugene Jackson, both of Pittsburgh, Calif.; one sister Ruby Helms Sellers of Birmingham, Ala.; three brothers, Garfield Helms Jr. of Blytheville, Ark., Ernest Helms and Bobby Helms, both of Paris, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Brown, Thelma Etta Sanders
Thelma Etta Sanders Brown, 87, of Pope died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi of heart failure.

Funeral services were Thursday at Dickins Chapel. Burial was at Batesville Magnolia cemetery. Rev. William Johnson officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Brown, born icon Oct. 19, 1915, to the late William A. Sanders and the late Emma Crowder Sanders, was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister Alvie Sanders Baker of Pope.

Memorials may be sent to Batesville Magnolia cemetery.

Browning, Christie Lynn
Christie Lynn Browning, 16, of Plano, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, as a result of an auto accident.

Services were Thursday at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Plano. Burial was at Little Rock Township cemetery in Plano. Pastor Richard Van Cleve officiated. Nelson Funeral Home had charge.

Browning, born icon Dec. 6, 1986, to Jeanette R. (Smith) Browning of Plano. and David K. Browning of Pontotoc, was a home-schooled student and was a very upbeat and caring young lady. She loved spending time with her family and many friends.

Survivors include her parents, Jeanette Butler of Plano. and David K. Browning of Pontotoc; three brothers, David Jeremy Browning of Pontotoc, and Kyle and Justin Butler, both of Plano; grandparents, Dean and Eva Smith of Plano and Charles and Geneva Browning of Ecru; and one great-grandmother Lois Browning of Batesville.

She was preceded in death by one uncle Curt Browning.
