Hanks, Bobby Gene
Bobby Gene Hanks, 69, of Memphis, Tennessee, died Friday, April 19, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Yellow Leaf cemetery in Oxford. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Hanks, son of the late James Arthur and Ester Cordelia Anderson

Hanks, was born icon May 2, 1932, in Oxford. He was a retired security officer for the University of Memphis and a mason.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pearl Hanks of Memphis; two sons, Bryan Hanks of Ft. Polk, Louisiana and Bradley Gene Hanks of Oxford; a sister, Ann Hanks Dettor of Sardis; and four grandchildren.

Harden, SheKinah Renae'
SheKinah Renae' Harden was stillborn Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at Persimmon Hill cemetery in Enid. Rev. T. A. Lawrence officiated the service. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her parents, Kenneth Harden and Cynthia McKinney, both of Oakland; grandparents, A.C. and Lenora Benson of Oakland, and Robert Earl and Linda Harden of Holly Springs; and great-grandparents, Archie and Lillie Mae Harden, and Rev. Wilson Reynolds, all of Holly Springs.

Harris, Richard L'Roy
Richard L'Roy "Roy" Harris, 89, of Batesville, died Monday, September 16, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Don Bishop, Rev. Martin Case and Rev. Glen Wiygul officiated the service. Burial was in Batesville Magnolia cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Harris, son of the late Louis Harvey and Annie Laurie Owens Harris, was born icon October 24, 1912, in Charleston. He was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He spent many years as postal clerk on the train between Memphis and New Orleans. After the mail trains were discontinued, he moved to the Batesville Post Office. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the administrative board and the Board of Trustees. He was also named Lay Person of the Year, was a teacher for the Jim Bates Bible Class, an Explorer Bible Study leader and a choir member. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. In earlier years, he was an active Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Seeky" Carothers Harris of Batesville; a son, Richard L. Harris, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Margaret H. Mason of Madison; a brother, Harvey Lake Harris of Sharonville, Ohio; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Avenue, Batesville, Mississippi 38606, or the charity of your choice.

Harris, Danny Earl
Danny Earl Harris, 50, of Olive Branch, formerly of Sardis, died Friday, August 2, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven of cancer.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Jim Howard will officiate the service. Burial will be by cremation. Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harris, son of the late Curtis Sr. and Pearl Ray Harris, was born icon October 9, 1951, in Panola County. He was an electrician with Mann Electrical Co. and a member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Buffy Chavers of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Tanita Harris of Hattiesburg; a son, Victor Harris of Carlsbad, California; three brothers, Curtis Harris, Jr. of Olive Branch, James W. Harris of Courtland and Larry L. Harris of Clinton; and one grandchild.

Henning, John Wesley
John Wesley Henning, 64, of LaFollette, Tennessee, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 6, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Rev. Sonny Longmire and Rev. Kenny Cox officiated the service. Burial was in Baker's Forge cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Henning, son of the late Dotson and Elsie McGhee Henning, was employed for Johnson and Galyon Construction Company for 15 years. He enjoyed tinkering on cars, and loved to garden and work. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, the late James 'Jimbo' Henning, a brother, the late Billy Henning, and his in-laws, the late Elmer and Edith Brantley.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Henning of LaFollette; a son, Gene Henning of LaFollette; and a sister, Patricia Yates of Batesville.

Henry, Leon
Leon Henry, 79, of Batesville, died Thursday, August 1, 2002, at his home of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Lee Hudson officiated the service. Burial was in Shiloh cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Henry, son of the late Oscar and Belle Johnson Henry, was born icon May 16, 1923, in Mississippi. He was a retired construction worker for Panola County and a member of North Batesville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Lee Henry.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie McCain Henry of Batesville; a daughter, Barbara Henry Bonner of Clarksdale; a son, Ricky Henry of Batesville; two sisters, Lilly Mae Henry Joyner of Courtland and Edna Henry Tidwell of Batesville; and five grandchildren.

Herbold, Doris Joiner
Doris Joiner Herbold, 85, of Batesville, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cold Springs Methodist Church cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Herbold, daughter of the late Tom Smith Joiner and Mollie Spears Joiner, was born icon April 10, 1916, in Panola County. She was a retired clerk and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Ray Herbold.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Williams-Hervey, Brenda Kaye
Brenda Williams-Hervey, 34, of Water Valley, died Thursday, October 24, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-N. Miss. in Oxford of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 28, at 1 p.m. at Springhill North M.B. Church. Rev. Sammy Townes officiated the services. Burial was in Springhill North M.B. Church cemetery. Northridge/Woodhaven Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Williams-Hervey, daughter of Mattie B. Williams of Water Valley and the late Harold W. Mayes, was born icon June 11, 1968. She attended Water Valley High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Springhill North M.B. Church.

Survivors include her son, Brandon D. Hervey of Water Valley; five brothers, John Williams and Albert Williams, both of Oxford, Larry Williams and Michael Williams, both of Water Valley, and Bobby Williams of Alaska; three sisters, Patsy Tenner of Water Valley, Nancy Bynum of Oakland, and Linda Gayle Mayes of Memphis, Tenn.

Hill, Chester Lee
Chester Lee Hill, 74, of Grenada, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Grenada Health and Rehabilitation Center of heart failure.

Graveside services were held Monday, March 11, at 3 p.m. at Hebron cemetery in Grenada. National Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mary R. Hill of Grenada; three daughters, Linda Cunningham and Rhonda Langham, both of Grenada, and Debbie Sue McGregory of Batesville; two sons, Eugene Hill and Larry Hill, both of Grenada; five sisters, Lorene Nail and Fay Dunn, both of Grenada, Cecil Beckwith of Carrollton, Dottie Boyette of Scobey and Mary Fincher of Clayton, Alabama; three brothers, Loyd Hill of Holcomb, Bruce Hill of Hardy and James Hill of Grenada; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Hill, Juanita Wilson
Juanita Hill, 80, of Southaven, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at Baptist Hospital East Memphis, Tenn., of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 31, at 11 a.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Wages officiated the services. Burial was in Lambert cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Hill, daughter of the Felix Wilson and Effie Suber Wilson, was born icon October 31, 1921. She was a retired sales associate, Sears.

Survivors include her daughter, Anita Harris of Lakeland, Tenn.; two sons, William Hill of Southaven, and Charles Hill of Hot Springs, Ark.; three brothers, Elbert Wilson of Hernando, Felix Wilson of Nesbit, and J.D. Wilson of Lucedale; Gerald Wilson of Oceanside, Cal.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren.

Hines, Eunice
Eunice Hines, 87, of Sardis, died Monday, December 2, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 8, at Walton Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sardis. Rev. Micheal Thomas officiated the services. Interment was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Hines, daughter of the late Eddie Lyons, and Dosha Beale, was born icon June 7, 1915 in Sardis. She was a housewife and member of Walton Chapel C.M.E. Church where she was a member of the Stewardess Board.

Survivors include, six daughters; Juanita Webb, Kathy Holliday, Elsa Perry, and Barbara Poole, all of Sardis, Edith Vance of St. Louis, Mo., and Robbie Sanders of Memphis, Tenn., and three sons; Leland Hines, Jr., Gill Hines, and Harold Hines, all of Sardis; 33 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and four great, great-grandchildren.

Holland, Florrie
Florrie Holland, 95, of Memphis, formerly of Panola County, died Friday, March 8, 2002, in Memphis of heart failure.

Graveside services were held Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Bethel cemetery in Holcomb. Memphis Funeral Home - Poplar Chapel had charge of arrangements. Holland, widow of Jeff Holland, was a member of Union Ave. Baptist Church in Memphis.

Survivors include four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven great, great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Holliman, Pearl V.
Pearl V. Holliman, 90, of Batesville, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 19, at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Robert Rawson and Chip Horton officiated the service. Burial was in Longtown cemetery in Crenshaw. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Holliman, daughter of the late Harvey and Lottie Beavers Vancleave, was born icon March 15, 1912, in Paris, Tennessee. She was a homemaker and a member of the Batesville Church of Christ. She was the widow of the late C.D. Holliman.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Holliman Carr of Batesville and Naomi Holliman McWilliams of Houston, Texas; a son, C.H. "Bud" Holliman of Senatobia; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
