Harris, Spencer Edward
Spencer Edward Harris, 84, of Rena Lara, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale of complications from an automobile accident.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Rev. Leonard Russell is the officiating minister. Nowell Funeral Home has charge.
Harris, born
Sept. 25, 1918, was a member of Rena Lara Baptist Church and was a retired salesman for Graeber Brothers Gas Company.
Survivors include his wife Careline Harris of Rena Lara; two daughters, Floyd "Betty" Foster of Clarksdale and Agnes McCloud of Batesville; two stepdaughters, Bobbie Washington of Marvel, Ark. and Jane Cleman of French Settlement, La.; one stepson Bubba Powell of Madison; one brother R.E. Harris of Rena Lara; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Hastings, Jack Marie Little
Jack Marie Little Hastings, 70, of Lambert, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Services were Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Lambert. Burial was at Lambert cemetery. Rev. Don O'Quin officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Hastings, born
Sept. 2, 1933, to the late Albert Dewitt Little and the late Bernice Jones Little, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lambert, graduated from the University of Mississippi, taught school for over 30 years, was an elementary principal at North Sunflower Academy, and a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Survivors include her husband Paul Hastings of Lambert; one son Paul David Hastings of Jackson; one daughter Karen Michelle Reaves of Collierville, Tenn.; one sister Jenelle Norwood of Drew and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Lambert.
Hays, Doris Irby
Doris Irby Hays, 86, of Sardis, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, of heart failure at her residence.
Services were Tuesday at Sardis United Methodist Church. Burial was at Rose Hill cemetery in Sardis.
Dr. Doyce Gunter officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
Hays, born
Dec. 6, 1916, to the late Ross Walker Irby and Sanford Irby, was a housewife. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church, Sardis Woman's Club and Heflin Heritage Association.
Survivors include her husband Carlton Hays Sr. of Sardis; one daughter Sue Cross of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons, Carlton Hays of Ridgeland and Will Hays of Sardis;
five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Neal-Hays, Jennifer
Jennifer Sueann Melton Neal-Hays, 34, of Huffman, Texas passed away Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Memorial Hermaon Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Jennifer was born
April 27, 1969 in Marks. She grew up in Dayton, Texas and Nettleton and was a long time resident of Huffman, Texas and worked in sales of New Truck Accessories.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at St. Ann's Catholic cemetery in Eastgate with Brother David Miller of First Baptist Church of Huffman, Texas officiating. Services were under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Pallbearers: Wade Burns, Robert Burns, Robert Burns Jr., Michael Gains, Warren Southers, Larry Maness, Martin Anderson and honorary pallbearers were Wayne Roulston and Charles Adams (Charlie Brown).
She is survived by her adoptive parents: Margie Little Taylor and husband, Jeff of Highlands, Texas and Harold Neal and wife, Pam of Nettleton and her biological parents: Charlotte (C.J.) Little of Batesville and Bobby Melton and wife Karen of Tarkington Prairie, Texas; son Cody Neal Jackson of Huffman, Texas; brothers, David Neal Jr. and wife Vicki of Nettleton, Albert Neal of Nettleton, Eddie Webb and wife Stephanie of Pasadena, Texas, Mike Melton and wife Jamie of Houston, Texas, Michael Gaines of Batesville, Wayne and Cory Neal of Nettleton; sisters, Debbie Melton Neal Jones and husband Stevie of Wren, Theresa Fitzpatrick and husband Robert of England and Stephanie Hugo of Brenham, Texas; grandparents, Rita Stansberry of Hubbard, Texas, Sammy Earl Little and wife Maxcine of Crowder and Audrey Melton of Jackson and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

James Robert Haynes Jr., 85, of Batesville, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford.
Services were Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Freddie Moorman and Rev. Clay Baker officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Haynes, born
Sept. 18, 1917, to the late James Robert Haynes Sr. and the late Lillian Dyer Haynes, was a Veteran of WWII, member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Water Valley, was a Mason and a Shriner and worked for Tennessee Gas and Construction.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Moorman Haynes of Batesville; one son James Robert Haynes III of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Wanda Carol Robison and Kelley Magee, both of Batesville; one brother Paul Haynes of Germantown; three sisters, Marguerite Thomas of Water Valley, Artell Warren of Saint Petersburg, Fla. and Mary Alice Meadows also of Saint Petersburg, Fla. and eight grandsons.

Haywood, Luvean
Luvean Haywood, 90, of Water Valley, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley of heart failure.
Services are today at Pleasant Green M.B. Church at 1 p.m. Burial is at Pleasant Green M.B. Church cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Preston Gleaton will officiate. Water Valley Funeral Home has charge.
Haywood, born
Aug. 24, 1913, was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Green M.B. Church.
Survivors include five sons, Joe F. Haywood, Percy Haywood, James Haywood, Verdia Haywood and Russell Haywood; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her two sons, Lewis Haywood and Earnest Haywood.
Hearington, Frank M.
Frank M. Hearington, 78, of Batesville, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford.
Services were Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home-Poplar Chapel. Burial was at Memorial Park cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home had charge.
Hearington was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and was affiliated with the Haven House of Oxford.
He is preceded in death by his brother Charles Hearington.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosanne Hearington Thomas of Olive Branch and Suzanne Hearington Thompson of Conifer, Colo.; two sons, John Mitchell Hearington of Memphis and Charles Michael Hearington of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Frances Haynes and Dorothy Fitzpatrick, both of Germantown, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Frank Ronald Heath, 67, of Courtland, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, of injuries obtained from an automobile accident.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

May 27, 1935, to the late Ernest Avery and the late Ella Lewis Heath was a retired self-employed upholsterer, served in the Tennessee Air National Guard and was a member of Barton Heights Baptist Church in Memphis.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Rudie Heath of Southaven and Steve R. Heath of Courtland; one brother Ernest Avery Heath of Memphis; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Helms, Carson
Carson Helms, 78, died Monday Jan. 27, 2003, at home in Courtland of heart failure.
Services will be Jan. 31 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment at Eureka Private cemetery in Courtland. Rev. George Buell and Rev. Clay Baker will officiate. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Helms, born
Jan. 29, 1924, in Panola County to John I. and Gertrude Fowler Helms, was currently employed as a engineer for McBride Engineering for whom he worked 34 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of WWII and also served as a Panola County Sheriff from 1964 to 1967.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Helms Wardlaw of Madison; five sons, Ron Helms, Clay Gaines, and Danny Gaines all of Courtland, Falcom Helms of Pope; and Edward "Earl" Helms of LaVonia, Ga.; one sister, Freddie Hentz Johnson of Courtland; two brothers, Milton Hentz and Bobby Hentz of Courtland; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Henderson, Lawrence Gilbert
Lawrence Gilbert Henderson, 51, of Crowder, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at his residence of heart failure.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at Zion Chapel AME Zion Church in Crowder with interment at Crowder Community cemetery. Rev. Allen Johnson will officiate service. Delta Burial Corp. of Marks has charge.
Henderson, born
March 5, 1951, was retired and also president of the Crowder Community cemetery, pastor of First Oak Grove M.B. Church, secretary of The Ministerial Alliance and QCDO Save The Children Tutorial Program.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Henderson of Crowder; two sons, Cedrit Henderson and Lawrence G. Henderson, Jr. both of Crowder; three sisters, Margaret Parchman of Chicago, Ill., Dorothy A. Webb of Crowder, and Gwendolyn Ewing of Tupelo; two brothers, Edward Henderson of Milwaukee, Wis., and Willie Henderson of Crowder.
Henderson, Ruthie M.
Ruthie M. Henderson, 62, of Crenshaw, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Desoto in Southaven.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at St. Joseph M.B. Church in Crenshaw. Rev. Floyd McGlothian will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc., has charge of arrangements.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Henderson of Crenshaw, Frances Parks of Sardis, Jeanette Gordon of Cleveland, Ohio, and Christine Kirkland of Westbury, N.Y.; two sons, Larry Henderson of Memphis, Tenn.; and Jerry Henderson of Wyandanch, N.Y.; three sisters, Marie Petro of Babylon, N.Y., and Charlie Mae Adams and Rosie Couch; four brothers, Ernest Petro of Cleveland, Marvin Petro of Rosedale, Frank Petro of Sardis; and Willie Petro; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
