Kimbrough, Arthur Lee
Arthur Lee Kimbrough, 50, of Sardis, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at his residence of injuries received in a house fire.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove cemetery near Sledge. Rev. Jim Scruggs will officiate. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Kimbrough, born icon June 29, 1953, to the late James Kimbrough and Vera Justice Kimbrough, was an employee of Springs Industries in Sardis and a member of Hollywood Baptist Church in Sledge.

Survivors include his wife Harriet T. Thompson Kimbrough of Charleston, S.C.; one son David Kimbrough of Charleston, S.C.; one step-son Timothy Wayne Russell of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; two daughters, Christina Kimbrough and Amanda Kimbrough, both of Charleston, S.C.; two step-daughters, Theresa Coon of Sardis and Tammy Ganskow of Charleston, S.C.; his mother Vera Kimbrough of Sledge; three brothers, James Kimbrough and Roy Kimbrough, both of Sardis and Herman Kimbrough of Pontotoc; eight sisters, Helen White and Nancy Whitworth, both of Republic, Mo., Jessie Faye Stringfellow of Clarksdale, Dovie Vaughn of Crenshaw, Lula Rose of Carson, Iowa, Ethelyn Stutterelle of Plano, Texas; Ruby Mae Cole and Barbara Crafton, both of Jackson; and seven grandchildren.

Kimmons, Johnnie Mae
Johnnie Mae Kimmons, 62, formerly of Sardis, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Methodist Healthcare University Hospital of Memphis.

Services are Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at Mt. Zion M.B. Church at 12 p.m. Visitation will be tonight at N.J. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Memphis from 4 to 7 p.m. N.J. Ford and Sons has charge.

Kimmons, born icon Apr. 4, 1941, to the late Fannie Mae Kimmons, was retired from Schering-Plough of Memphis.

Survivors include a companion Albert Dorsey; one daughter Barbara A. Campbell of Memphis; three sons, Terry Campbell of Charleston, S.C., Derrick Kimmons and Kevin Kimmons, both of Memphis; and 10 grandchildren.

Kincaid, Lacy C.
Courtland, MS - Lacy C. Kincaid, 93, of Courtland, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Monday at Antioch M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Nathaniel Frison officiated. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

Kincaid, born icon Nov. 14, 1911, to the late Scott Davis and the late Maria Reece was a retired farmer and a member of Antioch M.B. Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Riley of Courtland, Doris Myers of West Memphis, Ark. and Annie M. Anderson of Memphis; two sons, Scott Kincaid of Courtland and Jessie Kincaid Jr. of Memphis; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 20 great great-grandchildren.

Knighton, Patricia Ann Kelly
Patricia Ann Kelly Knighton, 73, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at her residence.

Services were Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel in Marks. Burial was in Magnolia cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Truman Scarbrough officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Knighton, born icon May 13, 1930, to the late Lester and late Ellie Respess Kelly, was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son John Knighton of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter Shelia Jamero of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ladd, Betheny
Betheny Ladd, 93, formerly of Batesville, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Grenada Lake Medical Center of natural causes.

Services were Monday at Antioch M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial was in Antioch M.B. Church cemetery. Rev. Jessie Frison officiated. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Directors had charge.

Laney, Doris Laverne
Martin, Tenn. - Doris Laverne Laney, 82, formerly of Enid, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Van Ayer Manor Nursing Home in Martin, Tenn.

Graveside services were Sunday at Bethel cemetery in Teasdale. Roger S. Oldham officiated. Murphy Funeral Home of Martin, Tenn. had charge.

Laney, a homemaker, attended the First Baptist Church in Martin and was a member of Oakhaven Baptist Church in Memphis.

Survivors include one son David Laney of Collerville, Tenn.; one daughter Donna Jones of Martin, Tenn.; one sister Thelma James of Memphis; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Louis Laney; and her parents, Pryor B. Newman and Jeannie Flowers Newman.

Laster, Leo Frankie
Batesville, MS - Leo Frankie Laster, 85, of Batesville, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial was in Sardis Lake Baptist Church cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Laster, born icon Aug. 18, 1918, to James Brown and Mary Frances Deadman Laster, was a retired carpenter and bridge builder for Illinois Central Railroad. He was also a WWII U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife Mary Magaline Dunn Laster of Batesville; four daughters, Fran Laster Flemons of Clarksdale, Carolyn Laster Walker of Cleveland, Barbara Laster Black of Oxford and Betty Laster Robertson of Batesville; four sons, Frank Laster, Donald Joe Laster and David Laster, all of Batesville and Paul Laster of Fort Payne, Ala.; two sisters, Carlene Laster White and Mildred Laster Morman, both of Charleston; one brother Emmette Laster of New Albany; 34 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren.

Latta, Emily
Emily Latta, 99, of Marks, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Quitman County Hospital in Marks of heart failure.

Services were Monday at Marks Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Ebenezer cemetery. Rev. Laurie Jones officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Latta, born icon Sept. 30, 1904, was retired from Marks Tractor Co. and U.S. Postal Service in Wylie, Texas. She was also a member of Marks Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school for many years at Young's Chapel.

Survivors include one niece Mary Ada Latta Whiteaker; two great nieces, Barbara Bate and Denise Clark; and four great nephews, Greg Whiteaker, Scott Whiteaker, Bryan Bate and Denny Bate.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Murray Latta and Thomas Forgey Latta; and one sister Helen Latta Gray.

Legge, Mitchell Wayne "Mitch"
Mitchell Wayne Legge, 44, of Batesville, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial was at Hebron Baptist Church cemetery in Sardis. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Legge, born icon on Dec. 15, 1959, to Bob Legge and Mathello Burgland Legge, both of Batesville, was a self-employed furniture refinisher and upholsterer.

In addition to his parents, survivors include one son Logan Parish of Oxford; his stepmother Bobbie Ann Legge of Batesville; one sister Debbie Legge Abernathy of Paris; and one brother Bill Legge of Senatobia.

Leidner, Lindy R. "Ty"
Lindy R. "Ty" Leidner, 47, of Jacksonville, N.C., died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his home.

Services were Thursday at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Rev. Joel Kettner officiated. Burial with military honors followed at Coastal Carolina State Veterans cemetery. Jones Funeral Home had charge.

Leidner served with the United States Navy and worked at Pet Warehouse in Jacksonville.

Survivors include his wife Cynthia Smith Leidner, formerly of Batesville, of Jacksonville; two daughters, Cori Tinsley and Lauren Tinsley, both of Jacksonville; mother and stepfather, Janice J. and Elvin L. Hoskins of Longwood, Fla.; two sisters, Christy Ann Pryor of Altamonte Springs, Fla. and Lauren Kelley Scioscia of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Brown of Alton, Ill. and Reese Scott Hoskins of Joliet, Ill.

Lewis, Edith Teen
Edith Teen Lewis, 87, of Como, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Lewis was a member of Howard Chapel C.M.E. Church.

Services were Saturday at Howard Chapel C.M.E. Church in Como. Burial was in Howard Chapel Church in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include one daughter Edith Lathell Lewis of Como; one son James Earl Lewis of Como; one sister Mary Howard of Seattle, Wash., and one grandchild.

Lipscomb, Robert Watkins "Buddy"
Robert Watkins Lipscomb, 86, of Como, died Jan. 2, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services were Sunday at Moore Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial was at Friendship cemetery in Como. Rev. Norman Holliday and Rev. Gladwin Clark officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Lipscomb, born icon on Feb. 16, 1917, to the late R.H. and the late Sallie Tait Lipscomb, was a retired cattleman and owner of Lipscomb Livestock Barn. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Como United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Rebekah Lipscomb of Como; one son Bobby Lipscomb of Como; one sister Wheeler Carr of Clarksdale; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

All memorials may be made to Como United Methodist Church.
