O'Neal, Harl "Bud" Jr.
Harl O'Neal Jr., 56, of Crenshaw, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin, Tenn. of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Services were Thursday at Crenshaw Baptist Church. Burial was in Longtown cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.

O'Neal was an environmental manager for Kentucky Tennessee Clay Company and a member of Crenshaw Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Constance Long O'Neal of Crenshaw; one daughter Shannon O'Neal Lipscomb of Como; one son Trey O'Neal of Ridgeland; his dad Harl O'Neal Sr. of Sledge; one sister Judy O'Neal Hales of Sledge; one brother Jimmy H. O'Neal of Jayess; and three grandchildren, Ben, Luke and Noah Lipscomb.

All memorials may be made to Crenshaw Baptist Church - New Building Fund.

Overall, Velma Lee
Velma Lee Overall, 94, of Sardis, died Saturday, September 18, 2004, at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia.

Overall, born icon March 9, 1910, to the late Theo Samuels and the late Claude Russell Samuels, was a member of Peach Creek Baptist Church and a housewife.

Services were Monday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Peach Creek cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Bobby Caples officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include one daughter Ruby Mae Mathews of Sardis; one son Clarence "Bubba" Overall of Batesville one sister Earlean Still of Sardis; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Owens, Jessie Vanburen
Coldwater, MS - Jessie Vanburen Owens, 79, of Coldwater, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at his residence of heart failure.

Services were Tuesday at Hernando Funeral Home. Hernando Funeral Home had charge.

Owens, born icon June 13, 1925 in eudora, was a retired heavy equipment operator, long-time member of Gray's Creek Baptist Church, The American Legion of Crenshaw and a Veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Berryhill Owens of Coldwater; three sons, Tim Owens of Independence, John T. Owens of Coldwater and George A. Owens of Southaven; one daughter Katherine L. Brown of Wyatte; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice South Healthcare.

Park, Clyde Stanley
Clyde Stanley Park, 57, of Sardis, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at his residence.

Park, born icon on Oct. 30, 1947 in Tupelo, requested his body be donated to the U.T. for research and no funeral services will be held.

Survivors include one brother Bobby Park; and two sisters, Judy McDaniel and Carol Russell.

Parker, Douglas Wayne
Douglas Wayne Parker, 60, of Marks, died Monday, August 30, 2004, at Quitman County Hospital.

Parker, born icon Dec. 13, 1943, was a Baptist and a shop manager for Quitman County Road Department.

Services were Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at West Marks Baptist Church. Burial was at Marks cemetery. Rev. Tim Mims officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include one daughter Mandy Howe of Marks; two sons, Douglas Wayne Parker Jr. and James Thomas Parker, both of Batesville; one brother Cecil Parker Jr. of Marks; three sisters, Alice Campbell of Olive Branch, Janet Adams of Humboldt, Tenn. and Amy Elmore of Marks and three grandchildren.

Parker, Marion Catherine
Marion Catherine Parker, 78, of Water Valley, died Monday, March 29, 2004.

Services were Wednesday at Seven Oakes Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Water Valley. Rev. Gerald Walker officiated. Seven Oakes Funeral Home had charge.

Parker, born icon Jan. 9, 1926, was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ in Water Valley and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include two sons, Richard S. Parker of Courtland and Thomas W. Parker of Paris, Tenn.; two daughters, Debbie Stark Ware and Carol Ann Cosby, both of Courtland; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Parker, Pearlie Mae
Memphis, Tenn. - Pearlie Mae Parker, 64, of Memphis (formerly of Courtland), died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on Pillow St. off Parkway in Memphis with burial Tuesday, July 6, in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. N. J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home has charge.

She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church in Courtland.

Survivors include her husband, James Roy Parker of Memphis; one daughter, Elaine Blanding of Detroit; three sisters, Edna Dorsey, Patricia Lathon and Ivory Oliver, all of Memphis; a brother, Herman Williams of Los Angeles, and two grandchildren.

Parnell, James Wallace
James Wallace Parnell, 94, of Sardis, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Southaven.

Parnell, born icon Nov. 11, 1909, to the late Marvin Ford Parnell and the late Pattie Floyd Parnell, was a member of Peach Creek Baptist Church and Peach Creek MenOs Bible Class. He was also a retired farmer and an ordained minister.

Services were Tuesday at Peach Creek Baptist Church. Burial was at Peach Creek cemetery. Rev. Caples and Rev. Allen Parnell officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Bailey Parnell.

Survivors include four daughters, Martha Parnell Baker of Amory, Georgia Parnell Pearce of Magnolia, Ark., Sue Parnell Proctor of Southaven and Pattie Parnell Bailey of Charleston Heights, S.C.; one son, Rev. Allen Parnell of Southaven; one brother, Steve Parnell of Norwood, La.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Peach Creek Baptist Church, designated for Missions.

Parrish, Frank
Frank Parrish, 87 of Pontotoc, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Windham House Personal Care Home. Services were Saturday at Moore Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial was in Longtown cemetery near Crenshaw. Rev. Jack Gilbert officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Parrish, born icon Nov. 26, 1916, to the late Lee Parrish and the late Mary Ellen Shuttles Parrish, was a retired truck driver, member of the American Legion of Crenshaw and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife Mildred Sexton Parrish of Pontotoc; one son Homer Parrish of Pontotoc; two grandchildren; and three grandchildren.

Patton, Thedrick "Teddy" Sr.
Courtland, MS - Thedrick "Teddy" Patton Sr., 33, of Courtland, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Services are today at 1 p.m. at Salem M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial will be in Salem Cemetry. Rev. Larry Itson will officiate. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

Patton, born icon Nov. 15, 1970, to Williams Watters of Memphis and Eunice Patton Payne of Sardis, was a forklift operator for Dunlap & Kyle and a member of Salem M.B. Church.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer F. Patton of Courtland; parents, Eunice Paynes of Sardis and William Watters of Memphis; four daughters, Teylar Patton, Teddera Patton and McGheyla Patton, all of Courtland and Amber Patton of Batesville; two sons, Kedrick Patton and Thedrick Patton Jr., both of Batesville; one sister Carol Payne of Sardis; two brothers, Titus Watters and Kandon Watters, both of Memphis; and grandparents, Eva Hardy of Courtland and John and Annie Lee Watters of Batesville.

Payne, Cooper
Batesville, MS - Cooper Payne, 25, of Batesville, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at his residence of heart failure.

Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Payne, born icon July 3, 1978, to Jerry Cooper Payne Sr. of Batesville and Linda Pruitt of Coffeeville, was a self-employed service technician for Paynes Quality Machine Repair.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include one sister Dina Pruitt of Calvary City, Ken..; his grandmother Frances D. Farmer of Centerville, Tenn.; and his fiancé Melissa Simmons of Pope.

Payne, Rhodie Mae
Rhodie Mae Payne, 60, of Lambert, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Baptist East in Memphis of heart failure.

Services are Saturday at 12 p.m. at The Real Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in St. Mark cemetery. Delta Burial Corporation in Marks has charge.

Survivors include her husband W.C. Payne Sr. of Lambert; five daughters, Ruby Bright Oscar and Sharon Payne, both of Memphis, Latrisha Payne, Catrice Payne and Debra Payne, all of Lambert; five sons, Larry Harris and Lorenzo Payne, both of Memphis, W.C. Payne Jr., Nathan Payne and Kevin Payne, all of Lambert; four sisters, Laura Smith and Minnie White, both of Chicago, Ill., Gladys Walker Buck of Lambert and Henrine Hopson of Rockford, Ill.; one brother John Henry Simmons Sr. of Tutwiler; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son Gerry Payne.
