Gregory Maurice DeBerry, 44, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 2, 2006 at his home. He was an Air Force veteran and a kitchen manager at TGI Fridays restaurant in Peoria.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Hopewell No. 1 MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Andre’ DeBerry officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Jacquelyn Morrison DeBerry; a daughter, Denise Danielle DeBerry of Peoria; a son, Gregory Maurice DeBerry II of Peoria; his father, Sam Pryor; his mother, Lee Etta DeBerry Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Shonda Miachelle Lott, Tiffany LeSha Reed, both of Memphis, Tenn., Letesha Stewart, Vigann Pryor, Sharese Pryor; two brothers, Perry Pryor, Roger Pryor; and his grandmother, Willie Mae DeBerry of Holly Springs.
Pallbearers were Bennett A. Waller, Dale Lekieffer DeBerry, Jarvis DeBerry, Terry Griffin, Willie Houston DeBerry Jr. and Rasheed DeBerry. Honorary pallbearers were James DeBerry, Melvin DeBerry, Roy Lee DeBerry Jr., Conery DeBerry, Willie Houston DeBerry Sr., Ronald DeBerry and Kevin Griffin.
Minister Clyde Ford
Minister Clyde Ford, 76, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Aug. 9, 2006 at his home. He was the widower of Marie Ford. He was a retired cab driver for United Cab Co. and a Korean War veteran.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Aug. 19 at Tabernacle of Praise in Memphis. Burial will be in Memphis National cemetery. McGhee and Sons Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two daughters, Florida Mays of Holly Springs, Laura E. Davis of Memphis, Tenn.; four sons, Clyde Ford Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Derrick L. Ford of Memphis, Tenn., Clyde Eric Ford of Memphis, Tenn., Paul E. Ford of Tupelo; four sisters, Louise Shelby of Riverdale, Ill., Bobbie Jean Mack of Chicago, Ill., Rosie Nell Jefferies of Holly Springs, Asha (Gladys) Ford of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Elder Easkline Ford of Holly Springs, Collin Ford of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Earl Gillom Sr.
Earl Gillom Sr., 88, of Abbeville, died Aug. 7, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Miss., Oxford. He was the widower of Mae Ethel Gillom. He was a member of East St. Peters MB Church, a retired laborer and lawn caretaker.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Tallahatchie Oxford MB Assoc. Building. Burial was in East St. Peters MB Church cemetery in Abbeville. Rev. William Woods officiated. Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves nine daughters, Dorothy Joiner, Ethel Goolsby, Earlene Hudson, Betty Phillips, all of Oxford, Jo Ann Hood, Ruby Gillom, Earnestine Gordon, all of Abbeville, Shirley Isom of Holly Springs, Lena Porter-Pearson of Memphis, Tenn.; four sons, Earl Gillom Jr., Curlie Gillom of Oxford, Barney Gillom of Dallas, Tx., Larry Gillom of Greenwood, a brother, Jimmie Gillom of Abbeville; a sister, Annie Hill of Oxford; 96 grandchildren, 127 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Gillom, Granville Gillom, Archie Clyde Gillom.
Lester D. Graham
Lester D. Graham, 86, of Independence, died Aug. 3, 2006 at Baptist-DeSoto Memorial Hospital in Southaven. He was the widower of Virginia Brooks Graham and Pattie Beale Graham. He was a World War II Army veteran where he served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the Independence Mississippi Masonic Lodge and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Services were held on Aug. 5 at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery in Independence.
He leaves two daughters, Eleanor Wallace of Olive Branch, Claudia Ferguson of Coldwater; a sister, Virgina Walker; stepchildren, Dr. Howard L. Beale of Memphis, Paul M. Beale of Olive Branch, Patsy Beale Shelton of Byhalia; four grandsons, five great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Lydia Clark Harden
Lydia Clark Harden, 95, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 2, 2006 at her sister’s home in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Abraham Harden and a church usher.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. O.D. Clark officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Carnell Alexander of Holly Springs; a sister, Julia Reynolds of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Cleo Harden.
Pallbearers were Jimmie Alexander, Rodger Alexander, Larry Rucker, Len Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds and Leon Clark. Honorary pallbearers were James Clark, Joseph Alexander, Harold B. Bragg, Curtis Alexander, Levy Alexander and Percell Reynolds.

Louis Hunter Jr., 64, of Memphis, Tenn., died Aug. 10, 2006 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was retired from the City of Memphis Drain Department.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Superior Funeral Home Hollywood Chapel in Memphis, Tenn. Burial will be in Galilee Memorial Gardens in Memphis. McGhee and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Maurice (Wanky) Jones, 42, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 8, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Strawberry MB Church and former manager of Quick Stop Grocery Store in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on August 12 at Rust College Doxey Auditorium. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Willie Hoey officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Annie E. Jones of Holly Springs; two sisters, Mozella Jones, Ella M. Oliver, both of Holly Springs; and two brothers, Phillip Jones, Lloyd Jones, both of Holly Springs.

Lloyd Anthony Payne
Lloyd Anthony Payne, 79, of Brookhaven, formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 3, 2006 at King Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. He was a retired maintenance worker with Brookhaven Mississippi School District.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 8 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in New Hope CME Church cemetery. Rev. Deldrick Leasure officiated.
He leaves his wife, Barbara Payne of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Belinda Payne of Chicago, Ill., Shelia Payne Jackson of Hazel Crest, Ill., Jerri Gold of Riverdale, Ill.; five sons, Lloyd Payne Jr., David Payne, Marvin Payne, Dwight Payne, Romel Payne, all of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Catherine Payne, Lena Deshazer, both of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ola Helen Robison
Ola Helen Robison, 79, of Trinity Health and Rehab of Holly Springs, died Aug. 12, 2006 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. She was the widow of Jessie Frank Robison.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 19 at Watson Community Chapel.
She leaves four daughters, Patricia Elaine Kamerzink of Red Banks, Sandra Audrey Wilkinson of Victoria, Beverly Catherine Melton of Horn Lake, Deborah Faye Dodson of Potts Camp; two sons, Charles Frank Robison of Victoria, Walter Randall Robison of Horn Lake; a brother, Charles Adams of Denver Colo.; a sister, Joann St. John of Red Banks; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Sheila Mitchell Shaw
Sheila Mitchell Shaw, 56, of Eupora, died Aug. 10, 2006 at her home. She was a retired eligibility worker with the Department of Health and Human Services and also had worked at Meek Insurance Agency in Eupora.
Services were held on Aug. 12 at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in Embry. Burial was in Embry cemetery. Rev. Larry Creel and Bro. Al Mullins officiated. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two sons, James Irby Shaw and Chesley Evans Shaw, both of Eupora; her mother, Mary T. Mitchell; a brother, James Edward (Eddie) Mitchell of Red Banks; three grandchildren; and the father of her children, William Riley Shaw of Eupora.
Pallbearers were Brian Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell, Andy Clark, Brad Smith, Norma Clark, Brad Gary, Chad Gary, Karey Smith, Bruce Walters, Tony Britt, Joey Miles and Tim McAlphin.
Joe Wilson
Joe (Smokie Joe) Wilson, 49, of New Albany, died Aug. 11, 2006 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was employed with Mohasco Furniture for more than 25 years until his health began to fail.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Union Grove Baptist Church in New Albany, where he was a member. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Rev. Willie B. Sampson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Nora Mae Wilson; a brother, Sam Wilson, both of New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Wilson.
Pallbearers were his friends.
Walter Gary Utley
Walter Gary Utley, 52, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 8, 2006 in Memphis, Tenn. He attended Mississippi State University and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was in the real estate business.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Dr. Curtis Ferrell officiated.
He leaves three daughters, Sheree’ Utley-Whitt of Tupelo, Kada Utley Stephenson of Holly Springs, Brittany Starr Utley of Tupelo; his mother, Vermelle Utley of Holly Springs; two brothers, Mark Utley of Germantown, Tenn., Stephen Utley of Hernando; three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter A. Utley.
Pallbearers were Billy Young, Johnny Coleman, Mark Utley Jr., Randy Holt, Chris Stephenson and Brooks Swanquist. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Rounsaville, Keith Owens, Mitchell Swann, and Leonard Callicutt.
Dr. Orby Lynn Hamblin
Dr. Orby Lynn Hamblin, 59, of Calhoun City, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. He had practiced family medicine in Calhoun County since 1976, where he served on staff at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. He also taught at Senatobia High School for two years.
Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Rev. Wayne Gullett officiating. Burial was in Parker cemetery in Alva.
He leaves a son, Edward Lynn “Sam” Hamblin of Oxford; three brothers, Bobby Hamblin of Derma; Mike Hamblin of Byhalia; James Anthony Hamblin of Ocean Springs; a grandson; and a special friend, Elizabeth Lance of Calhoun City.
