Mildred Morrison King, 82, of Oxford, died March 9, 2006.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 11 at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford with burial in St. Peter’s cemetery. Rev. Bryan Bailey officiated.

She leaves a stepson, John King of Laws Hill and a nephew, Mike Morrison of Oxford.

Gregg Steven Looney

Gregg Steven Looney, 43, of Byhalia, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at his home.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on March 11 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Pamela Looney; three daughters, Jessi Underwood of Texas, Nicole Pounders, Rachel Myers, both of Olive Branch; a son, Randy Looney of Byhalia; his mother, Mary E. Looney of Byhalia; a brother, Mike Looney of Olive Branch; a sister, Cindy Baker of Arkansas; and a granddaughter.

Eugene Andrew Rhea

Eugene Andrew Rhea, 84, of Hickory Flat, died March 10, 2006 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Cornersville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 40 years.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 12 at United Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in Cornersville cemetery. Rev. Joe Epting officiated.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Wayne Brownlee Rhea of Holly Springs; two daughters, Brenda Kay Brownlee of Potts Camp, Dorothy Jean Mauldin of Tupelo; two sons, Larry A. Rhea of Hickory Flat; Terry Lee Rhea of Saltillo; a brother, Coleman Rhea of Hickory Flat; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Clifford Hancock, Allen Hancock, David Rhea, James Rhea and Kenneth Rhea.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, E.J. Rhea and Leroy Hancock; a daughter, Shelia Rhea Forester and a grandson, Justin Allen Jackson.

C.L. Wilkins

C.L. Wilkins, 56, of Memphis, Tenn., died March 2, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was a member of Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church in Memphis and a member of Cedar Grove Masonic Lodge #39. He was an application’s development analyst and computer programmer for International Paper in Memphis.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 9 at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Willie F. Jeffries officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Cellistean Pryor Wilkins; two daughters, Beverly Wilkins, Tina Johnson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Earye Bridgeforth Wilkins of Holly Springs; five sisters, Patty Wilkins of Holly Springs, Catherine Wilson of Phoenix, Ariz., Charlene Burch of Olive Branch, Velvet Barrino of Holly Springs, Shirley Mosley of Memphis; two brothers, Aaron Wilkins III of Holly Springs, Milton Wilkins of St. Louis, Mo.; and a grandson.

Pallbearers were Christopher Wilkins, Gregory Thompson, Aaron Wilkins IV, Kenneth Bunch, Miguel Barrino, Eric Wilson, Clifton Thompson and T.J. Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Youngblood, A.C. Rayford, Willie Jeffries, James Alford, Sam Faulkner and Clarence Faulkner.

Willie Chester Jeffries
Willie Chester Jeffries, 63, of Lamar, died Nov. 9, 2005 at his home. He was a construction worker for Mayor Construction of Memphis.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 12 at St. Luke Church of God in Christ in Ashland, where he was a member. Burial was in Sand Hill MB Church cemetery in Lamar. Pastor Nathaniel Holleman officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Nielene Glass Jeffries; two daughters, Marie Jeffries of Holly Springs, Tiffany Thompson of Lamar; two stepdaughters, Monica Thompson, Nicole Thompson, both of Lamar; four sons, Willie C. Jeffries Jr. of Olive Branch, Henry Jeffries of Memphis, Tenn., Timmie Gill of Holly Springs, Lee Thompson of Lamar; a stepson, Rev. Steven Glass of Lamar; two brothers, James (Jeff) Jeffries of Senatobia, Randolph Stephenson of Byhalia; and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mario Bean, William Bean, Willie Bean, Bradley Glass, David Glass and Randy Hampton.

Brandon Turner Eugene Marcum

Brandon Turner Eugene Marcum, newborn, died recently.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 15 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery.

He leaves his parents, Grace Luttrell and Billy Marcum; two sisters, Destiny Lasha and Diane Rasha Marcum; paternal grandparents, Oliver Gene Marcum, Catherine Marcum; and maternal grandparents, Bethel Luttrell and Heaven Newton.

Lee Edward Newson, 80, died Nov. 8, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Liberty MB Church in Coldwater, where he was a member. Burial was in Edward Chapel cemetery in Coldwater. Rodgers Funeral Home of Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Arlillie Wright Newson; four daughters, Doris Dowels of St. Louis, Annie Pearl Buckley of St. Louis, Carolyn Wright of Atlanta, Ga., Lillie Moore of Horn Lake; eight sons, Chester Newson Sr. of Sardis, Eddie Newson, Carl Newson, James A. Newson, Lee Newson Jr., all of Coldwater, Joe Wright Sr. of Senatobia, Joe Wright Sr. of Senatobia, Jimmy Wright of Hernando, Alberto Jefferson of St. Louis, Mo.; six sisters, Pearlie Mae Thomas, Fnesa Dell Newson, both of Coldwater, Nancy Sessom of Byhalia, Dena K. Phillips of Olive Branch, Annie L. Williams of Memphis, Tenn., Queen Newson of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, Lee Chester Wright of Detroit, Mich., Larry Pryor of Byhalia, Barry Pryor of Chicago, Ill., Calvin Pryor of Coldwater; 45 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

Charles Randolph Phillips
Charles Randolph Phillips, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, died Nov. 7, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was a Christian and a truck driver with Roadway Express. He was an Army veteran of Korea.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in West View cemetery in Atlanta, Ga.

He leaves his wife, Mary Phillips; two daughters, Renee Moss of Deluth, Ga., India Kirkland of Statem, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Marie Watkins of Grand Junction, Tenn.; three stepsons, Terry Graves of West Memphis, Ark., Gary Graves of Mt. Pleasant, Paul Graves of Fairfield, Ark.; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Christopher C. Roland
Christopher C. Roland, 85, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 13, 2005 at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the National Guard, 1940-1941; and as an Army staff sargent, 1942-1945.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 15 at Red Banks Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Bro. Troy Defer officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Bernice Roland; two daughters, Linda McDaniel of Memphis, Tenn., Nancy Hutchens of Holly Springs; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Joey McDaniel, Charles McDaniel, Larry Hutchens II, Will Thomas, Dusty Hutchens and Hank Thomas II. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Red Banks Baptist Church.

Billy C. Boyd
Billy C. Boyd, 73, of Richardson, Texas., formerly of Holly Springs, died Oct. 26, 2005.

Services and burial were held on Oct. 29 in Allen, Texas.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Donna; a son, Robin; two sisters, Lois Boyd of Hernando, Wanda Boyd of Holly Springs.

Evelyn J. Bready
Evelyn J. Bready, 87, of Hickory Flat, died Nov. 2, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Joseph Newton Bready.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in McKay cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Brownie Tohill officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Thomas W. Bready of Covington, Tenn.; a daughter, Joann Potts of Olive Branch; three sisters, Geraldine Vanzant, Doris Goode, both of Hickory Flat, Ann Mann of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joey Bready.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Dorothy Seale Brown
Dorothy Seale Brown, 94, died Oct. 31, 2005 in Mesa, Ariz. She was the widow of Horace B. Brown. She was a former organist at First Baptist Church of Holly Springs and taught school in Potts Camp.

She leaves her son, Dr. H. Jack Brown of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

James Travis Carpenter
James Travis Carpenter, 84, of Lamar, died Oct. 31, 2005 at his home. He was a Methodist, a truck driver with Trans. Labor Inc., a member of Teamsters Local 667 and a U.S. Army veteran.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carpenter Family cemetery in Lamar. Bro. Don Wilson officiated.

He leaves two sons, James T. Carpenter Jr., Elbert D. Carpenter, both of Lamar; four daughters, Glenda D. Shelby of Lamar, Ruby C. Winburn of Hernando, Mary Edna Cook of Bolivar, Tenn., Debra C. Skelton of Hernando; four sisters, Dorothy Mason, Lanita Carpenter, Marcelle Carpenter, all of Michigan City, Geraldine Watkins of Waterford; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Larry Eugene Darbison
Larry Eugene Darbison, 49, of Barton, died Nov. 2, 2005 at his home. He was a Christian and a stockman with Bi-County Farm Supply.

Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.

He leaves many friends who cared for him.

Floyce Dilworth
Floyce Dilworth, 75, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 1, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a construction worker/concrete finisher with Memphis Hardwood Flooring.

Services were held at 12 noon on Nov. 5 at Providence MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Gifton Jones officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Connie Seay Dilworth; a daughter, Laverne Seay of Holly Springs; a son, Floyice E. Dilworth of Holly Springs; a sister, Levirdia McCroy of Milwaukee, Wisc.; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Carlos Boxley, Michael Denton, Dedrial Seay, Norris Seay, Michael Alexander, Billy Wayne Walker, Ronnie Alexander and Courtney Pye. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Ayers, James DeBerry, Eddie Foster, Rev. Reynolds, Larry Jeffries, Thomas Bridgeforth and Larry Hughes.

Fred Lee Jordan
Fred Lee Jordan, 89, of Hickory Flat, died Nov. 2, 2005 at his home. He was a sheet metal mechanic, a member of American Legion, retired from Local #4 Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the occupation of Okinawa.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 4 at Hickory Flat Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Bluff Springs cemetery in Ashland. Bro. Rakestraw officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Marie Jordan; a son, Stanley Jordan of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Linda Nowicki of Bartlett, Tenn.; two brothers, Sam Jordan of Ripley, Jesse Jordan of Indianapolis, Indiana; and two grandchildren.
