Cloys M. Loper, 88, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 3, 2005 in Biloxi. He was a Baptist and a carpenter.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 8 at Cornersville cemetery. Burial was in Cornersville cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a brother, James Loper of San Diego, Calif.

John Parker
John Parker, 102, of Marshall County, died Oct. 25, 2005 at his home. He was a member of Newell Chapel Church.

Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 29 at Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Spencer Mathis, pastor, and Elder Malvin Parker officiated. Harrison’s Funeral Home in Memphis was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves five daughters, Mary Smith of Memphis, Tenn., Ora West of Auborn Hills, Mich., Dorothy Downer of Ecorse, Mich., Lessie McAuley of Red Banks, Juliette Mayse of Victoria; four sons, Paul Parker of Memphis, Tenn., Oscar Parker of Red Banks, C.C. Parker of Chicago, Ill., Malvin Parker of Detroit, Mich.; 53 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren, 70 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Curtist McAuley, Lenzo Parker, Christopher Thomson, Sterling Norfleet Jr., Stanley McAuley and Milton Parker. Honorary pallbearers were his sons.

Lee Dabney Swinny

Jan. 19, 1959 - Dec. 5, 2002

NATCHEZ - Services for Lee Dabney Swinny, 43, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Natchez, will be at 3 p.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Revs. Zabron A. Davis III and Samuel A. Tomlinson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Swinny was born icon Jan. 19, 1959, in Natchez, the son of James Haywood and Betty Ann MacEachron Swinny II.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Mr. Swinny was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Loyed Swinny; three children, Elizabeth Ariane Swinny, John Dabney Swinny and Lee Edward Swinny; his mother; two brothers, James H. Swinny III and Scott R. M. Swinny and his wife, Susan; two sisters, Valerie Swinny Bergeron and her husband, John, and Mizette Swinny Hinson; and her nieces and nephews, Clif Hinson, Will Hinson, Scott Swinny, James Swinny and Katie Anne Swinny.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Loyed, Eddie Loyed, Bill Stahlman, Joseph DuLaney, Johnny Byrne, Ken Price, Ted Hinson and Brad Passman.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Nutter and Ray Bruce Curlee III.

Emily Hollowell

April 8, 1983 - Nov. 30, 2002

NATCHEZ - Services for Emily Hollowell, 19, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Joshua Tree, Calif., will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with the Revs. Alfred Camp and David O'Connor officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Ms. Hollowell was born icon April 8, 1983, in Natchez, the daughter of David Ray and Ann Liddell Marlow Hollowell.

She was a member of St. Mary Basilica, a 2001 graduate of Cathedral High School and was a student at Hinds Community College in Raymond.

Ms. Hollowell was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James F. Hollowell.

Survivors include her parents; three brothers, Gregory Hollowell and his wife, Dana, both of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., and Daniel Hollowell and Eric Hollowell, both of Natchez; her maternal grandparents, Orvis and Inez Marlow of Natchez; her paternal grandmother, Martha Tucker Hollowell of Vicksburg; her paternal great-grandparents, Susan and Ray Sasser of Vicksburg; her friends, Sue, Jeff, Nancy and Laura Beth Burkhalter; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be James Brown, Scott McLemore, Jim Sandel, Ben Bassi, Mark Steckler and Andrew Hollowell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Phillip Scurria, Dr. Thomas Carey, Dr. Frank Guedon and Dr. Kofi Kumi.

The family requests memorials be made to Cathedral School, P.O. Box Q, Natchez, MS 39121, or St. Mary Basilica, P.O. Box 1044, Natchez, MS 39121.

Wilbert Anderson

Sept. 14, 1946 -- July 9, 2002

FAYETTE -- Services for Wilbert Anderson, 55, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fayette, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Jackson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Mr. Anderson was born icon Sept. 14, 1946, in Jefferson County, the son of Andrew and Doretha Foster Anderson Sr.

He was baptized at Forest Grove Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Shiloh First Baptist Church where he served as an usher. His work history includes Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, International Paper Company in Natchez and Redwood, U.S. Rubber in Vicksburg and the Jefferson County School District.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father; one son, Jarvis LaTrance; and his siblings, Charlie, Elnora and his twin, Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Eddie Rae; two sons, Christopher and LaJarvis; his mother; two sisters, Mary Ann and Dorean Jenkins and her husband, Charles, both of Memphis; seven brothers, Eddie, Robert and his wife, Glorestine, and Lee Arthur, all of Fayette, Andrew of Chicago, Jimmy and Edward, both of Los Angeles, Joel of Port Gibson and David of Asheville, N.C.; three aunts, Lenora Torrey of Utica, Mary Chambers of Fayette and Belzonia Richard of Alexandria; one uncle, Solomon Foster and his wife, Ida Mae, both Ellisville; and a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Leonard Alton Woodyear

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for Leonard Alton Woodyear, 78, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at Laird Funeral Home.

William Kenan Witherspoon

Services for William Kenan Witherspoon, who died Sunday, July 7, 2002, of cancer, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Old St. Pauls Church.

Mr. Witherspoon was preceded in death by his mother, Isabel Green Witherspoon.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Shettle Witherspoon; three children, Amanda Rose, Charlotte Eliska and John Hay Shettle; father, Philip Henderson Witherspoon; and two brothers, Dr. Philip Hinderson Witherspoon Jr. and Dr. Thomas Witherspoon.

Alice Eddie Beckworth Prather
Alice Eddie Beckworth Prather, 85, of Myrtle, died Nov. 4, 2005 at Sunshine Inn, Myrtle. She was the widow of James Jeff Prather. She was a retired factory worker with Hoover. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8 at United Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in Cornersville cemetery. Rev. Charlie Locke officiated.

She leaves a brother, Robert Beckworth Jr. of Oxford; two grandchildren, Staci Cochran of Lane, Okla., Jeffery Shane Prather of Honolulu, Hawaii; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Greer Prather; three sisters, Jo Della Lindsey, Rose Cochran, Sudie Prather; three brothers, Guy Beckworth, Glen Beckworth, Van Beckworth.

Pallbearers were Larry Ray, Harry Ray, Roman Ray, Alton Gale Beckworth, Lamon Beckworth and Randy Beckworth.

Thurmond Rutherford
Thurmond Rutherford, 76, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 26, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a machine operator with Inland Steel in East Chicago, Ind.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Mt. Zion CME Church in Benton County, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. W.L. Harper officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Acie Rutherford; two daughters, Heidi Williams of San Antonio, Tx., Shirley Wilson of Flint, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Ella Glover, Celestine Belfoure, both of Holly Springs; three stepsons, Johnnie Brown, Lacey Brown, both of Holly Springs, Arthur Brown of Victoria; a brother, Tennyson Rutherford of Texarkana, Tx.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Earnest Price, Stacey Alexander, Jimmie Cathey Sr., Arthur Belfoure, Timothy Glover and John Albert Hampton. Honorary pallbearers were Timothy Sims, Tilmon Shelton, Tronice Rutherford, Johnny Brown, Fred Glover and Arthur Brown.

Elder Willie Wilson

June 20, 1935 - Jan. 28, 2003

PORT GIBSON - Services for Elder Willie Wilson, 67, who died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Christian Church with Elder T.E. Harris officiating.

Burial will follow in the Forest Grove Christian Church cemetery in Pattison under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Wilson was born icon on June 20, 1935, the son of Dan and Irene Wilson.

He worked for American Paper Tube in Port Gibson for many years. He was pastor of Forest Grove, Antioch, King David and St. Elmo's Christian churches and was former pastor of Providence Christian Church.

For the past 12 years, he had served as president for the quarterly meeting of the Christian Church Association and as secretary of Little Zion Christian Church. He was a member of Christian Aid and the M.C.M.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Katina Wilson; and one sister, Irene Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Gussie P. Wilson; three sons, Willie L. Wilson Jr. of Vicksburg, Cladell Wilson of Cambridge, Ohio, and Lawrence Wilson of Starkville; two daughters, Sandra Wilson and Debbie Wilson-Davis, both of Jackson; four grandchildren, Dwike Wilson, Jermaine Wilson and Kiara Wilson, all of Vicksburg and Theodoes Jamaal Davis of Jackson; three brothers, Nathan Wilson and Dan Wilson Jr., both of Fayette, and Henry Wilson of Port Gibson; five sisters, Louise Berry, Ollie Shorter and Winnie Richardson, all of Port Gibson, Sarah Reed of Jackson and Retha Davis of Lorman; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
