NATCHEZ - Services for Shirley B. Mosby, 52, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Baptist Church with the Rev. Shep Bethley officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of R. D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Ms. Mosby was born icon Feb. 25, 1950, in Adams County, the daughter of Ernest Spiller and Oceola Mosby Johnson.

She was educated in the Adams County public schools and was a former custodian at Wal-Mart. She was a lifelong member of United Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board.

Survivors include her mother, Oceola Mosby Johnson of Natchez; her father, Ernest Spiller of Chicago; her stepfather, Willie Johnson of Natchez; one brother, Ralph Wright, and his wife, Rena Mae, both of Natchez; three uncles, Eddie Mosby and Robert Scott, both of Natchez, and Earl Mosby and his wife, Lotta Mae, both of Chicago; one aunt, Ruby Woods of Natchez; one nephew, James Green and his wife, Kimberly, both of Natchez; one niece, Linda Wright Thornton of Atlanta; and a number of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Irene M. Jackson

Aug. 20, 1928 - Jan. 27, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Irene M. Jackson, 74, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jackson was born icon Aug. 20, 1928, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Gertrude R. and Aaron Murray.

She was a homemaker and a member of LF&C; Society St. Clara Lodge No. 23, and Second Union Baptist Church and its Usher Board.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Jackson Jr.; three sons, Nathaniel Murray and his wife, Doreen, both of Antelope, Calif., and Charles Jackson and his wife, Ella, and Jeremy Jackson, all of Natchez; four daughters, Shirley M. Ivory and her husband, Joseph, Myrtis Jackson and her husband, Keith, Laura Jackson and Carlotta Jackson, all of Natchez; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; three brothers, Aaron Murray and his wife, Gloria, both of Hampton, Va., James Murray of Natchez and Williest Murray and his wife, Nancy, both of Baltimore; five sisters, Millie Washington, Inez Foster and her husband, Robert, Rosette Murray, Mary D. Murray and Alberta Easton, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Jefferson Jr., Roosevelt Proby, McClinton Harris, Harvey Anderson, Thurston King, Chester Davis and Waddey Thomas.

Bernice H. McMorris

Aug. 29, 1930 - Jan. 25, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Bernice H. McMorris, 72, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with an Order of the Eastern Star ceremony at 7 p.m. today, at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. McMorris was born icon Aug. 29, 1930, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hunter Jr. and Carrie Marie Cupil Hunter. She was retired from child care and was a member of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Allen McMorris; one son, Authur Michael Williams, and his wife, Shontae; one daughter, Michelle Denice Williams Howard, and her husband, Roger, both of St. Louis; three brothers, Wilbert Hunter and his wife, Thelma, both of Chicago, and Ben Hunter and Oscar Hunter Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth, all of New Orleans.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Rosette Jones Woods

Dec. 13, 1927 - Jan. 26, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Rosette "Lady" Jones Woods, 75, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.

Burial will be in Natchez National cemetery at noon Monday under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Woods was born icon Dec. 13, 1927, the daughter of Nicie and James Jones.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Woodrow Woods, Timothy Woods and Donald Wayne Woods; and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Moses Woods Sr.; two daughters, Rosie M. Varnado and her husband, Ron, both of Madison and Gloria Jean Miller of Natchez; five sons, Moses Woods Jr. and his wife, Jackie, and Steve Woods, all of Natchez, Harvey Woods and his wife, Carolyn, both of Lafayette, La., Carmen Woods and his wife, Collette, and Raymond Woods and his wife, Rita, all of Atlanta; one sister, Jessie Murphy and her husband, George, both of Kansas City, Mo.; six brothers, Willie J. Jones and his wife, Joanette, and Albert Jones and his wife, Juanita, all of Natchez, Frank Jones and his wife, Marjorie, both of Temple, Texas, Johnny Stewart of Jackson, Forman Stewart of St. Paul, Minn., and Charles Stewart of Chicago; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Aldrige of Los Angeles and Alice Agee of Apple Valley, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Phillip Woods and his wife, Josie, both of Natchez; two aunts, Hattie Barnes and her husband, Gabriel, both of natchez and Codelia Stewart of Chicago; a friend, Mama Maggie Stewart of Jackson; 29 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Johnnie Lee Sr.

July 23, 1914 - Jan. 25, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Johnnie Lee Sr., 87, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at his son's residence in Stampley, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Shannon officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette. Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Lee was born icon July 23, 1914, the son of Sol and Sally Lee.

He was preceded in death by two sons.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Sr. and his wife, Joyce, both of Stampley, and the Rev. James Lee Sr. and his wife, Martha, both of Natchez; six daughters, Dorothy Green and her husband, Pete, Cynthia Lee and Peggy Lee and her husband, Greg, all of Chicago, Rita West and her husband, Bobbie, both of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Etta Ellis of Inglewood, Calif., and Lillie Ballard and her husband, Leon, both of Fayette; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Cora Harris of Fayette; a friend, Jural Anderson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Robert Reed, Ronnie Trevillion, John Arthur Stacker, James Brown, Arthur Ray Council and Derrick Varnado.

Ophelia Harried-Rankin

Jan. 21, 1956 - Jan. 24, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Ophelia Harried-Rankin, 47, of Fayette, who died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette. Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Rankin was born icon Jan. 21, 1956, in Adams County, the daughter of Gus and Rosie Lee Harried.

She joined Rose Hill No. 2 Baptist Church at an early age, was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson County High School and attended college in Detroit, Mich., where she completed two years of nursing school.

She was preceded in death by one son, Antonio Deon Anderson; her father, Gus Harried; and a number of sisters and brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Benard Rankin; one son, Charles Kendall Anderson of Fayette; two grandchildren, Nay and Tywaner, both of Vicksburg; her mother, Rosie Lee Harried of Fayette; two sisters, Helen Barker and her husband, Willie, and Josephine Harried, all of Fayette; one adopted sister, Shalander Tyler and her husband, Christopher Sr., both of Fayette; one brother, Eugene Harried of Fayette; one uncle, John Beverly and his wife, Josephine, both of East Point, Mich.; two aunts, Hattie Bell Harried of Fayette and Susie Beverly of St. Louis; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; one nephew, Willie Queen Jr.; three cousins, Barbara Brown and her husband, James, both of Jackson, and Willie Harried and his wife, Joyce, and Janie Jackson, all of Fayette; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Leon Nichol, Issac Graves, Joe Harried Jr., Gene C. Robinson, William Watson and Willie Henry Washington. Roy Stampley

July 18, 1901 - Jan. 25, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Roy Stampley, 101, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Professional Rehabilitation Hospital in Ferriday, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette.

The procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. Saturday from 314 Medgar Evers Blvd. in Fayette.

Visitation is from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Stampley was born icon July 18, 1901, in Jefferson County, the son of Richard Zeb Stampley and Mary Williams.

He was a retired laborer for Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for 80 years and a senior deacon for 73 years and was a former Mason.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Frye Stampley; his parents; two sons, Roy Stampley Jr. and Albert Stampley Sr.; two daughters, Yvonne Stampley and Thelma Stampley Gandy; three brothers; three sisters; three grandchildren; and two sons-in-law.

Survivors include six sons, Mac Arthur Stampley and his wife, Betty, Ray Stampley and his wife, Leona, Henry Stampley and his wife, Eloise, and Percy Stampley and his wife, Geneva, all of New Orleans, and Gene A. Stampley and his wife, Lillie, and Jimmie Stampley, all of Fayette; five daughters, Audrey Lowe and her husband, Bobby Joe, Catherine Green and her husband, Izear, and Rochelle Stampley, all of Fayette, and Ida Mae Stringer and Julia Ballansaw, both of New Orleans; one son-in-law, George Gandy of New Orleans; one daughter-in-law, Mary Stampley of New Orleans; 50 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Annie Wade of Port Gibson; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Lowe, Gene Stampley Jr., Mark Stampley, Cardell Ballansaw Jr., Jimmy Barnes, Arnolrae Stampley, Fred Hunter, Roy Green, Charles Carradine and Glen Stampley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Stampley, Gene A. Stampley Sr., Mac Arthur Stampley, Jimmie Stampley, Ray Stampley Sr. and Percy Stampley.

Charles Joseph Gonsoulin

Dec. 30, 1929 - Jan. 29, 2003

WOODVILLE - Services for Charles Joseph Gonsoulin, 73, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodville Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Bunch and Tom Sexton officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Berryhill Funeral Home.

Visitation is today and from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Gonsoulin was born icon Dec. 30, 1929, in Loeauville, La., the son of Antoine Joseph Gonsoulin and Mary Louise Dugas Gonsoulin.

He was a retired owner and operator of Chuck's Body, Paint and Glass, served three years in Merchant Marines and was a member of Woodville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Augustine Floyd Gonsoulin; one son, Randy Kim Gonsoulin and his wife, Nancy, both of Natchez; two daughters, Denise G. Geter and her husband, Jerry, both of Natchez and Becky G. Bennett and her husband, Michael, both of St. Francisville, La.; four grandchildren, William Charles Bennett, Jerry Leo "Jay" Geter Jr., Marshall Antoine Gonsoulin and Emily Margaret Geter.

Pallbearers will be Will Bennett, Jay Geter, Marshall Gonsoulin, Samuel M. Robertson Jr., Eugene Pritchard Jr. and Felis Guidry.

Honorary pallbearers will be W. L. Beckham, Dr. L. J. Owens, Carroll Smith, Joe Faust, Melvin Robertson, Billy Joe Jones, Anthony David, Dennis Adams, Patrick O'Rourke, Austin Gonsoulin, Robert Crumpler, Kenneth Firman and Terry Firman.
