Sarah Mae Anderson

June 10, 1932 - Jan. 24, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Sarah Mae Anderson, 70, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at George F. West Funeral Home with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.

Burial will follow in Leesdale cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Anderson was born icon June 10, 1932, in Adams County, the daughter of Alice Smith and Bill Jackson. She attended Adams County public schools, was a homemaker and was a member and Usher Board member of Tate Magnolia Baptist Church.

Survivors include god-daughter, Audrey (Lisa) Gray of Vidalia, Cheryl Williams and her husband, Herbert, and Zariah Paige Williams, all of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Yolanda Gray and Jeffery Williams, Ajah Williams, Gabriel Williams, Jocola Williams and Joe Williams, all of Vidalia; three nieces, Emma Scott and her husband, Robert, Ruby Smith and Jessie King and Irma Burston and her husband, Melvin; one nephew, James Smith and his wife, Shirley, all of Natchez; four great-nieces; eight great-nephews; 15 great-great-nephews; nine great-great-nieces; two neighbors, Margaret Carter and Henry Mayberry; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

August Donaldson

RODNEY - Services for August Donaldson, 66, who died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Smoot officiating.

Burial will be in Logan Hill cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luella and Ellis Donaldson, and one son.

Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Marshall of Chicago and Christine Starks of Port Gibson; four grandchildren, Kuvis L. Marshall and Camisha Marshall, both of Port Gibson, Roy Ward of Chicago and Jacaquline Starks of Jackson; two brothers, Ellis Donaldson Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn. and Winston Donaldson of Natchez; three sisters, Ella Winchester of Rodney and Elva Hoye and Rosie Lee Williams, both of Natchez; one aunt, Gladys Dixon of Rodney; and a number of nieces, nepews, other relatives and friends.

Donald Lewis McNeil Jr.

Jan. 8, 1977 - Jan. 26, 2003

GARDEN CITY - Services for Donald Lewis McNeil Jr., 26, of Nashville, Tenn., and formerly of Jackson, who died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in Nashville, will be at noon Saturday at St. Matthews Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Pernell cemetery in Garden City under the direction of Collins Funeral Home of Jackson.

Mr. McNeil was born icon Jan. 8, 1977.

Survivors include his parents, Don and Dora McNeil Sr. of Jackson; one brother, Derrick McNeil of Jackson; one sister, Jennifer McNeil,; three children, Diasionna McNeil, Teasia McNeil and Donald Lewis McNeil III; one nephew, one niece, ten aunts, five uncles, three great-aunts; one great-uncle; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Elton Wade Tucker Jr.
Elton Wade Tucker Jr., 61, of Byhalia, died Oct. 29, 2005 at his home. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a truck driver with M&H Construction Company.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Palestine MB Church in Ashland, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Leon Perry officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Maxine Yancy Tucker; two stepdaughters, Lenea C. Yancy of Memphis, Tenn., Michelle Lee Harper of Ashland; two stepsons, Courtiney DeBerry, Barry DeBerry, both of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Lucy Lee Hubbard of Holly Springs; five sisters, Emma Whitlock, Clara Shuford, both of Memphis, Patricia Allen of Memphis, Tenn., Betty Lockhart of Kileen, Tx., Hope Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Tommy Tucker of Holly Springs, Eddie Tucker of Byhalia, Eric Hubbard of Memphis, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Elton Lee Tucker.

Pallbearers were George Brown, Lamont Hubbard, Deangelo Morgan, Jewell Lockhart, Walter Morgan Sr. and Walter Morgan Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Tucker, Eric Hubbard, Barry DeBerry, Tommy Tucker, Courtney DeBerry and George DeBerry.

Capie Ree Henderson Woodard
Capie Ree Henderson Woodard, 82, of Michigan City, died Nov. 3, 2005 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Obbie Woodard and a member of the Usher Board.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 at Sims Chapel MB Church in Michigan City, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Adam Gholson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three daughters, Eva Ree Evans of Michigan City, Etta Anderson of Millington, Tenn., Earnestine Pettigrew of Byhalia; seven sons, John Woodard, Paul Woodard, Neugene Woodard, all of Memphis, Tenn., Earnest Woodard of Atlanta, Ga., Obbie Woodard Jr. of Jackson, L.B. Woodard, Rev. Randell Woodard, both of Michigan City.; two sisters, Henretta Anderson of Memphis, Cora Lee Briggs of Lamar; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Woodard; and two sons, George Edward Woodard and Odell Woodard.

Pallbearers were Theartist Woodard, Eric Woodard, minister Tony Woodard, Carlos Woodard, Clint Woodard and Lynn Steward.

Willie Davis Bean
Willie Davis Bean, 58, of Memphis, Tenn., died Oct. 24, 2005 at his home. He was a member of the House of Prayer Church of God in Christ in Memphis and a machine operator with Jones Fiber Products in Memphis.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church in Hudsonville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bishop William A. Dean officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Lesa Swindle of Memphis; three sons, David Bean, Toney Bean, Charles Campbell, all of Memphis; four sisters, Evie Ree Ambrose, Verna Bean, Barbara Perkins, all of Memphis, Georgia Mae Glover of Holly Springs; three brothers, Herman Bean, Andrew Bean, both of Memphis, John Lee Isom of Hudsonville; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Bean, Herman Bean, Elroy Moore, Charles Campbell, Andrew Bean and Fredrick Swindle. Honorary Pallbearers were Fred Ambrose, Tyrone Bean, Johnny Beard, Ervin Ambrose, Toney Campbell and Timothy Lee.

Joseph Wesley Dobbs
Joseph Wesley Dobbs, 48, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 26, 2005 in Memphis, Tenn. He was a Baptist, a construction worker and a Coast Guard veteran.

A private burial will be held in Hill Crest at a later date.

He leaves his wife, Teresa Dobbs; a son, James Wesley Dobbs of Holly Springs; a daughter, Mary Francis Dobbs of Holly Springs; and a brother, James E. Dobbs of Nesbitt.

Shirley Akins Gatewood
Shirley Akins Gatewood, 74, of Holly Springs and Byhalia, died Oct. 25, 2005 at her home. She was a Christian.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 28 at Hill Crest cemetery in Holly Springs. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her companion, Roy Grant Carter of Byhalia; four daughters, Charlotte Nairmoore, Angie Mims, both of Horton, Ala., Margie Ford of Stayton, Ore., Shirley Coleman of Byhalia; a brother, William Akins of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Carrie Lanely
Carrie Lanley, 97, of Mt. Pleasant, died Oct. 26, 2005 at her home. She was a member of New Hope CME Church.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. Burial was in New Hope CME Church cemetery in Red Banks. Bro. Gary Young, pastor, officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two daughters, Julia Bady of Mt. Pleasant, Francie Taylor of Memphis; 21 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 63 great-great-grandchildren and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

Johnny Ferrell Medlin
Johnny Ferrell Medlin, 48, of Barton, died Oct. 24, 2005 at his home.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Memorial Park cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his mother, Betty G. Medlin of Barton; a sister, Ramona Castle of Lexington, Tenn.; and two brothers, Phillip Medlin, James Medlin, both of Barton.

Oenver LaVance Milan
Oenver LaVance Milan, 24, of Byhalia, died Oct. 21, 2005 in Byhalia. He was a factory worker.

Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 26 at Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe Richmond officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his mother, Bernita Milan Hearn of Byhalia; a daughter, Anyiah Elisa Milan of Byhalia; two sons, Terrell Richmond, Issiah LaVance Richmond, both of Memphis; a sister, Natasha Martin of Byhalia; and a brother, Andre Hearn of Byhalia.

Pallbearers were Ferlando Warren, Marco LeSuer, Steve McKinney, Sherrod Craine, Jarvis Garth and Tim Smith. Honorary pallbearers were James Edward Milan, Telvondus Milan, Omar Rayford, Lakevion Craine, Lavar Craine and Michael Milan.

Robert Lee Steele Jr.
Robert Lee Steele Jr., 75, of Ashland, died Oct. 26, 2005 in Holly Springs. He was a commercial industrial insulator and a veteran of Korea.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 29 at Ashland Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Ashland cemetery. Bro. Randy Cruse officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves three sons, William Scott Steele of Slayden, Robert L. Steele III of Hickory Flat, Marc Gresham Steele of Ashland; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Donice Kay Billingsley

Donice Kay Billingsley, 56, of Memphis, Tenn., died Oct. 18, 2005 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. She was a manager at Federal Express and a member of Sweet Adelines International and Holy Trinity Community Church in Memphis.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 21 at Free Springs United Methodist Church cemetery in Harmontown. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a brother, Max Billingsley of Harmontown; and two sisters, Brenda Fletcher of Olive Branch and Susan Baze of Midland, Tx.

Pattie Clanton Beale Graham

Pattie Clanton Beale Graham, 85, of Byhalia and Independence, died Oct. 21, 2005. She was the widow of Raymond Beale of Byhalia, a retired store owner and seamstress. She was a member of Byhalia First Baptist Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery.

She leaves her husband, Lester Graham of Independence; two sons, Dr. Howard L. Beale of Cordova, Tenn., Paul M. Beale of Olive Branch; a daughter, Patsy Beale Shelton of Byhalia; two stepdaughters, Eleanor G. Wallace of Olive Branch, Claudia G. Ferguson of Independence; a brother, Rev. Herschel Clanton of Ft. Necessity, La.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy H. Huggins

Dorothy H. Huggins, 96, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 22, 2005 at Christopher’s Personal Health in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Kenneth L. Huggins. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs since 1935, and owner/operator of Western Auto from 1936-1966. She was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, a member of UMW, where she served as secretary and treasurer for several years. She also taught school.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Bro. Milton Boyd officiated.

She leaves two daughters, Dottie Tomlinson of Holly Springs, Sara Hurst of Lynn Haven, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Donald Hurst, Roger Overall, Kenneth Hurst, Bart Tomlinson Jr., Josh Overall and James Gober.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs.

Betty Ann Nicholson

Betty Ann Nicholson, 79, of Waterford, died Oct. 19, 2005 at Baptist North MS in Oxford. She was the widow of Russell E. Nicholson and a member of Free Springs United Methodist Church.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22 at Hill Crest cemetery. Bro. Brownie Tohill officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Sharon Terry of Memphis; a sister, Syble Fields of West Minister, Calif.; two grandsons, and two great-grandchildren.
