FAYETTE - Services for Roosevelt McDonald Jr., 74, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Apostolic Temple with Bishop I. L. Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Grove cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. McDonald was born icon Dec. 2, 1928, in Lena, the son of Roosevelt McDonald Sr. and Willie Mae White.

He was retired from Natico in Chicago as a painter and was a member of New Jerusalem Apostolic Temple.

Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Willie Mae White of Fayette; one daughter, Hilda Mae Armstead of Marrero, La.; three sisters, Vivian Taylor and her husband, I. L., both of Danville, Ill., Jewel McDonald of Waikiki, Hawaii, and Annie Mack of Fayette; one uncle, Berry White of Los Angeles; two aunts, Olivia Ward and Oddessia Gaines, both of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, Sgt. Randy Ward, Carmen Broaden of Pascagoula, Lisa Jackson of Houston, William Armstead III of Tulsa, Okla., and Alie J. Armstead of Dallas; seven great-grandchildren; five other relatives, Wallace Johnson of Chicago, and Nathan Applewhite, Mary Green, Michelle Morgan and Johnny Martin, all of Fayette; and a number of other relatives.

Pallbearers will be William Armstead Jr., Ali Jerone Armstead, Nat Applewhite, Randy Ward, Cleveland Taylor and Calvin Penroe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Penroe, Peris Ward, Patrich Felton, Antonio Ward and Andy Dawson.

Edrie Marie Logan Felton

May 3, 1952 - Jan. 6, 2003

ROXIE - Services for Edrie Marie "Margaret" Logan Felton, 50, of Roxie, who died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Roxie Church of Christ with the Rev. Issac Tenner officiating.

Burial will follow in Rosehill cemetery No. 2 under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Felton was born icon May 3, 1952, in Quitman County, the daughter of Lucius Logan and Mary Gathnight.

She was a housewife.

Mrs. Felton was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, A.V. "Bob" Felton; six sisters, Mary Louise Logan of Beaumont, Texas, and Gwendalyn Sue Logan, Joy Denise Logan, Charlene Logan, Wanda Faye Logan and Easter Delores Smith, all of Alexandria, La.; in-laws, Bobby Pernell, Ruby Smith, Dorothy Nelson, Vera Allen, M.C. Felton, Arthur, Elmond Felton and wife Wendy, Leonard Felton, Earlvin Felton, Jimmy Felton, Alvin Felton and Geneva Felton; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Rose Buckles of Roxie.

Pallbearers will be Robert Tenner, Wendell Tenner, Calvin Logan, Charlie Griffin, Stuart Anderson, Walter Anderson, Patrick Smith, Elmond Felton and Carl Upton.

Alberta Blue Thompson

March 3, 1917 - Jan. 6, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Alberta Blue Thompson, 85, of Fayette, who died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mariah Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry D. Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in Forrest Grove Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Thompson was born icon March 3, 1917, in Jefferson County, the daughter of William and Lula Blue.

She was a member of Forrest Grove Baptist Church and Shiloh First Baptist Church, was employed with Illinois Central Railroad Company and the Jefferson County school system and owned and operated Tug Boat Annie grocery store.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Thompson, and three children, Nathaniel Thompson, Sarah Mae Thompson and Richard Thompson.

Survivors include three children, Regina Reed of Fayette, Joseph Thompson and his wife, Geraldine, and Edward Thompson and his wife, Ethel, all of Chicago; 20 grandchildren, including four she raised, Doris Shelby of Minneapolis, Vincent Thompson of Okinawa, Japan, Willie Earl Shelby of Chicago and Demetris Reed of Fayette; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one cousin, Mary Hannah Dent; and friends, Willie Dee Harris, Doris Morris, Victoria Johnson and Corrine "Bitty" Morgan.

William Brenard Dorsey III

July 8, 1924 - Jan. 6, 2003

NATCHEZ - Graveside services for William Brenard Dorsey III, 78, who died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Biloxi, will be at 11 a.m. today at Natchez City cemetery.

Mr. Dorsey was born icon July 8, 1924, the son of William Brenard and Retha McGehee Dorsey.

Heserved in the U.S. Navy, earned his law degree from the University of Mississippi, served as an FBI agent from 1950 to 1958 in Chicago and Los Angeles, practiced law in Jackson, Baton Rouge and Pascagoula, where he was employed as a corporate attorney at Ingalls Shipbuilding, was a member of the Pascagoula Lions Club, American Bar Association, Jackson County Bar Association, Mississippi Trail Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, Singing River Yacht Club, First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula and First Baptist Church in Pascagoula and was named "Boss of the Year" by the Jackson County Legal Secretaries Association in 1988.

Mr. Dorsey was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Jane W. Dorsey.

Survivors include four sons, Brent W. Dorsey and his wife, Pluma, William B. Dorsey IV, Robert C. Dorsey and his wife, Carol, and David Dorsey; seven grandchildren; and a number of friends.

William H. Gould

DEMING, N.M. - Services for William H. Gould, 63, who died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at his residence, were held Jan. 7 at Baca's Funeral Chapel.

Burial was in Mountain View cemetery under the direction of Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam, was a volunteer benefit counselor for the Paralyzed Veteran's of America and received the Everet Neet Award for 10 years continous service to the PVA, as well as several other awards from the Veteran's Administration.

Survivors include two sons, Casey Gould of Natchez and Billy Gould of San Diego; one daughter, Michelle Gould of San Diego; his former wife, Lola Case Smith of Natchez; two brothers, Jack and Paul Gould, both of Deming; four sisters, Nelva Jones and Ruthie Gould, both of Vickerville, Calif., Linda Clay of Deming and Lajoya Marilee Bonnell of Silver City; and one granddaughter, Cheyenne Gould.

Memorials may be made to the Bayou Gulf States Chapter VAMC, 200 Beach Blvd., Room 119, Gulfport, MS 39507.

Willette Truitt White

RUSSUM - Services for Willette Truitt "Pee Wee" White, 40, who died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Treasure's Assembly of God with the Rev. James Burks officiating.

Burial will follow in Thompson Memorial Garden cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Vicksburg and from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home.

Survivors include one daughter, Danielle White of Vicksburg; one son, Darnelle White of Vicksburg; her mother, the Rev. Dianne Banks of Vicksburg; two sisters, Natasha Gaines and Sharon Banks, both of Vicksburg; seven brothers, George Truitt of Jackson, Curby Truitt, Willie Truitt and Daron Banks, all of Vicksburg, Emanuel Banks and Samuel Banks, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Tekoa Banks of Lawton, Okla.; three aunts, Josephine Smith and Rosie Edwards, both of Midwest, Okla., and Charlotte Truitt of Lorman; one uncle, Jessie Truitt of Port Gibson; six nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Maxine Pickett

Nov. 13, 1919 - Jan. 7, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Maxine Pickett, 83, of Vidalia, La., who died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Arthur Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Meadville under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pickett was born icon Nov. 13, 1919, in Crosby, the daughter of Rosie Riley and Mack Jenkins.

She was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal church.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Pickett of Washington; one son, Simon Pickett of Sacramento, Calif.; one brother, J.C. Riley of Roxie; two sisters, Ernestine Ashley and Eunice McDonald; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Samuel James Stewart Sr.

Dec. 6, 1934 - Jan. 4, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Samuel James Stewart Sr., 68, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Irving officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from noon until funeral time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Stewart was born icon Dec. 6, 1934, in Natchez, the son of Beatrice and Eli Jackson.

He attended NATCHEZ - Adams public schools, worked as a tire builder for Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co. and was a member of United Steel Workers Local 303 and Greater St. Mark Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Adeline Stewart; four daughters, Gladys and her husband, Harol, Mary and her husband, Larry, Mattie Thomas and her husband, Windell, and Pamela Dean and her husband, Irving; seven sons, Samuel Stewart Jr. and his wife, Torris, Larry Stewart and his wife, Arlene, Richard Stewart and his wife, Lena Mae, Gary Stewart, Oscar Stewart and his wife, Carmen, Sammy Norman and his wife, Shwana, and Derrick Martin; one brother, Willie Frank Baily and his wife, Clara, both of Moss Point; three sisters, Clarie Stewart of Atlanta, Camille Trice of Chicago, Belinda Thomas and her husband, Mack, both of Natchez, and Tena Anderson and her husband, Johnny, both of Fayette; two aunts, Rosie Lee Gibbs and Katie Scott, both of Chicago; seven brothers-in-law, Willie Frye and his wife, Josephine, James Henry Norman and his wife, Hattie, Richard Norman and his wife, Ora, and Clarence Norman, all of Natchez, Chris Minor of Crosby and Albert Norman and his wife, Quince, both of Chicago; one sister-in-law, Della Thomas and her husband, Luther; one special friend, Marian Mitchell of Sanford, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Fannie O'Neal Hawkins

April 25, 1935 - Jan. 3, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Fannie O'Neal Hawkins, 67, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Pickett officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The procession leave at noon Saturday from 98 Steam Plant Road.

Mrs. Hawkins was born icon April 25, 1935, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Malcolm and Hattie O'Neal.

She was a real estate entrepreneur and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and the Travel Club.

Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melton Hawkins II; two brothers, Alexander O'Neal Sr. and Walter O'Neal; and one grandson, Sammie L. Crowder.

Survivors include three sons, Melton Hawkins III of Natchez and Walter Hawkins and David Hawkins and his wife, Jannice, all of Chicago; six daughters, Marie Crowder and her husband, Sammie, Claudia Smith and her husband, Prentiss, and Linda Dean, all of Chicago, Beverly Wood and her husband, Bill, both of Natchezl, Mary Richmond and her husband, Larry, both of Roselle, N.J., and Hattie Marvel and her husband, Clifton, both of Fort Riley, Kan.; two sisters, Dorothea Mayberry and her husband, Dave, and Edith Logan and her husband, Bill, all of Natchez; one brother, Willie Douglas of Newellton, La.; two adopted brothers, Walter James O'Neal of Natchez and Willie Bradley of New York; four sisters-in-law, Dora O'Neal, Rosie Lee Hawkins and Rosie Lee Fleming Hawkins, all of Natchez, and Dorothy O'Neal of Chicago; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; companion, John Davis; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Melton Hawkins Jr., David Hawkins, Walter Hawkins, Alexander O'Neal, Larry Richmond, Cleveland Jackson, Paul Howard and Clifton Marvel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Quentin Mayberry, David Hawkins Jr., Johnny L. O'Neal, Malcom Hawkins, Maurice Hawkins, Johnathan Marvel, Walter Hawkins Jr., Ernest Young and Cornelius Isaac.

Annie Lil Ford Hartness

Oct. 30, 1922 - Jan. 7, 2003

WOODVILLE - Services for Annie Lil Ford Hartness, 80, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodville Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Bunch officiating.

Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Berryhill Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Hartness was born icon Oct. 30, 1922, in Woodville, the daughter of Harry Catchings and Janie Anderson Ford.

She was retired after 40 years of teaching and was a member of Woodville Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Farm Bureau Auxiliary, Woodville Civic Club and a volunteer at Woodville Museum.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Arnold Hartness; one son, Robert Arnold Hartness Jr. and his wife, Linda, both of Woodville; one daughter, Patricia H. Peeler and her husband, Joel, both of Madison; one sister, Julia Mae F. Patrick and her husband, John, both of Woodville; one brother, Harry Catchings Ford Jr. and his wife, Barbara, both of Woodville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be E.M. Kee Jr., E.M. Kee III, Billie Joe Jones, Robert Hartness III, Joel Peeler and Alvin Bedgood.

Memorials may be made to Woodville Baptist Church or the Wilkinson County Christian Academy.
