NATCHEZ - Services for Robert Allen "Red" Singleton, 54, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 11, 2003, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Hines officiating.
Burial will follow at Skinner cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Mr. Singleton was born
Nov. 3, 1948, in Natchez, the son of Mattie Ware Singleton and Leroy Singleton Sr.
He was employed with Martin Floor Co. and Carpet Sales for a number of years.
Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willie Clarence "Freddie" Singleton.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nelson; two daughters, Shakeda Nelson and Krystal Nelson, both of Natchez; four sons, Robert Nelson and his wife, Melody, both of Houston, Kevin Johnson and Kenderick Johnson, both of Natchez, and Paul Reed of New Orleans; two brothers, Leon Singleton and his wife, Freddie Jean, and Leroy Singleton Jr., all of Natchez; six sisters, Nancy James and her husband, Louis, Marie Bass, Gloria James and her husband, Robert, Clara Byrd and her husband, Ernest, Elaine Singleton and Geneva Jones, all of Natchez; five grandchildren, Taylor Nelson of Houston and Terranishala Hannon, Kevin Johnson Jr., Kolby Johnson, Kenearia Johnson, Kenyona Johnson and Keneatra Johnson, all of Natchez; two aunts, Daisy S. Green and Clarissa Ware, both of Natchez; three uncles, James Ware and his wife, Ruby, Vernell Singleton and Thomas Singleton, all of Natchez; two sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Nelson and Elizabeth Evans Nelson, both of Natchez; four brothers-in-law, Joseph Nelson of Cleveland and Larry Nelson, Billy Nelson and Fred Nelson, all of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Larry Nelson, Billy Nelson, Fred Nelson, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Rice, Eddie Owens and Clyde Bacon.

David Clinton Carroll
Feb. 15, 1952 - April 12, 2003
NATCHEZ - Services for David Clinton Carroll, 51, of Natchez, who died Saturday, April 15, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Billy Duncan and Dr. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Carroll was born
Feb. 15, 1952, in Laurel, the son of John Clinton and Orpha Shoemaker Carroll Sr.
He attended Morgantown Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, graduated from Natchez High School and followed his father's profession in the oil industry.
Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Kevin Carroll of Raymond and John Clinton Carroll Jr. of Meraux, La.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Adams, Keith Dunlap, Forrest Flinn, Todd Mulvihill, Kevin Noble and Frank O'Quinn.
Hattie B. Jackson
Aug. 12, 1906 - April 4, 2003
NATCHEZ - Services for Hattie B. Jackson, 96, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who died Friday, April 4, 2003, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Milford Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Alsworth officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Ms. Jackson was born
Aug. 12, 1906, the daughter of Reminda Stewart and Wilson Early.
She was a member of Milford Baptist Church, Willing Workers and Victory Chapel No. 4, Order of Eastern Star and Milford Mother Board.
Survivors include one son, Sylvester Ware of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Rosa B. Watkis of Brooklyn; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Allene Malcolm of Los Angeles and Inetta Givens of Natchez; two brothers, Wilson Earley Jr. and Heziah Earley, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

NATCHEZ - Services for Ann Hoggatt Savoy, 64, of Vidalia, La., who died Monday, April 14, 2003, at Professional Rehabilitation Hospital in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Kunnumpuram officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Savoy was born
Oct. 24, 1938, in Natchez, the daughter of Ernest Ferguson and Isabelle Diers Hoggatt Sr.
She was retired from the medical office of Dr. Dudley H. Mutziger.
Mrs. Savoy was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Billy Hoggatt and Joe Hoggatt.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Savoy of Vidalia; one daughter, Susan Savoy Brown of Pineville, La.; son-in-law, Steve Brown of Pineville; three grandsons, Trey Brown, Hayden Brown and Aaron Brown, all of Pineville; one sister, Isabelle Eyrich Simmons of Natchez; one brother, Robert Hoggatt of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Trey Brown, Hayden Brown, John Hoggatt, Mikal Rodgers, William Hoggatt, Lance Gill, Dax Gill and Cam Massengill.
The family requests memorials be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or American Cancer Society.

NATCHEZ - Services for Zealia Duncan Johnson, 92, of Inglewood, Calif., who died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at King Solomon Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie D. Schiele officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Johnson was born
April 9, 1910, in Adams County, the daughter of Clarence and Hannah Duncan.
She was a member of King Solomon Baptist Church and was employed as a receptionist until retirement.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and one brother.
Survivors include one daughter, Laura Smith and her husband, Leonard, both of Inglewood; one stepdaughter, Vivian Johnson of Natchez; two grandchildren, Jeffery Smith and his wife, Mary, both of Pomona, Calif. and Patricia Smith of Los Angeles; two stepgrandchildren, Lucy Johnson of Natchez and Robert Earl Johnson of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Smith of Los Angeles and Jackie Smith of Sacramento, Calif.; one great-great-granddaughter, Ariana Robbin of Sacramento; one brother, Tanner B. Duncan of Palmdale, Calif.; three nieces, Annie Robson Dunmore and her husband, Curtis, Marcella Robson Washington and Ruth Bernard, all of Natchez; two nephews, Bennie Robson of Los Angeles and Clarence J. Robson and his wife, Willa, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert L. Vess, who died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Glenburney Nursing Home, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in the National cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Vess was born
Oct. 20, 1925, in Ashville, N.C.
He was a career Navyman, entering in early 1942 and serving in World War II and the Korean War. He participated in 10 naval engagements. Following his naval career, Mr. Vess served as physical plant director at the University of Alabama Huntsville and raised cattle in Hollypond, Ala.
Mr. Vess was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Duke Vess.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Vess of Pineville, La.; two sons, Judge Charlie Vess and wife Corky of Natchez and Mark Vess of Eva, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Josh, Jerimiah, Mark, Joey, Betty, Robert, Ree Vess and Gaston Carby.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family request memorials be made to the American Red Cross, Natchez Childrens Home or Sunshine Shelter.
