ALABAMA - Memorial services for Shirley Mae Talley, 73, of Fairhope, AL, who died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at a local healthcare facility, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jubilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Matthews officiating.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Fairhope Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Fairhope, AL.
She was a native of McGehee, AR, formerly of Natchez, was a homemaker and a member of Jubilee Baptist Church.
Mrs. Talley was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Talley; a son, Frank Talley, Jr.; and a brother, Edward Binns.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Berver of Gulf Shores, AL; a son, Van Talley of Clearwater, FL; a brother, George Binns of McGehee, AR; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Corine Cooper
March 7, 1925 -- Nov. 22, 2003
NATCHEZ -- Services for Corine Cooper, 78, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., who died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in Hot Springs Village, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at George F. West Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Natchez National cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cooper was born
March 7, 1925, in Vidalia, the daughter of Amanda Bridgewater and Abraham Sanders.
She was a member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church and its Loa Sunday School class in Hot Springs Village.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Cooper of Vidalia; one daughter, Willa McGregor of Hot Springs Village; one special daughter, Patrice Walker of Hot Springs Village; one sister, Mary L. Smith of South Holland, Ill.; one uncle, Eli Sanders, and his wife, Ezelle, both of Waterproof, La.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Willis Lofton

NATCHEZ - Services for Willis Lofton, 88, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Greg Kelley officiating.
Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lofton was born
July 6, 1915, in Franklin County, the son of Thomas Allen and Rosa Magee Lofton.
He was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
Mr. was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lofton.
Survivors include son, Donald Lofton and wife, Kay of Natchez; daughters, Carolyn Taylor, Barbara "Bobbie" Merritt and husband, Robert and Betty Gail Freeman and husband, Curtis, all of Natchez; 10 grandchildren, Michele Shamblin, Jeff Taylor, Roy Farmer, Patrick Farmer, Donna Kay Ashley, Kellie Robinson, Jerry Perry, John Perry, Bonnie Reeves and Shandolyn Nettles; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews including nephew, Claude Porter and wife, Joyce of Richland.
Pallbearers will be Roy Farmer, Patrick Farmer, James Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Curtis Freeman and Izear Myles.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Shamblin, James Mooney and Sam Tiffee.

NATCHEZ - Services for Ollie Mae Floyd, 77, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. today at Windy Hill No. 2 Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating.
Burial will be in the National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Floyd was born
Oct. 10, 1926, in Adams County, the daughter of Delia Malone and James Malone.
She retired in 1988 after 20 years of service with the school system and was a member of Windy Hill No. 2 Baptist Church, the Mother's Board and Friends Benevolent Club.
Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Floyd, Sr.; her parents; and one brother, Eugene Malone.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Berry and Dorothy Smith and husband, Terry; two sons, Walter Floyd, Jr. and wife, Joyce and Lawrence Floyd, all of Natchez; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lillie B. Fleming of Natchez, Emma Owens of Detroit, MI, Helen Hollaway of New Orleans, LA and Ora Hamilton of Denver, CO; six brothers, James Malone and Samuel Malone, both of Natchez, Roosevelt Malone, Sr., Nathaniel Malone and Richard Malone, all of New Orleans and MacArthur Malone of Detroit, MI; one aunt, Mary Rombly of Los Angeles, CA; one uncle, Eddie Jackson of Los Angeles; three sisters-in-law, Edna Fleming and Roberta Logan of Detroit and Evelyn Miller of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hideko O. Whittington Yutani

WEST COVINA, CA - Memorial services for Hideko Yutani, 72, of West Covina, who was surrounded by her children when she peacefully left this life to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, were held in the Garden Chapel at White's Funeral Home in Azusa, CA, on Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at 11:00 a.m.
Mrs. Yutani was born
March 11, 1931, in Kobe, Japan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Oshitani.
She came to the United States in 1954. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother to her children. Mrs. Yutani was cremated with interment scheduled for a future date.
Mrs. Yutani was preceded in death by her parents in Japan.
Mrs. Yutani is survived by her husband, Yoshiro Yutani of West Covina, CA; three sons, John C. Whittington (Barbara) of Lawton, OK, Tim W. Whittington (Marcie) of Anadarko, OK and Steve Yutani (Veronica) of West Covina; one daughter, Clarissa W. Swaggart (Glenn) of Natchez; eight grandsons, Robert (Mande) Whittington, Charles Whittington, Matthew Whittington of Lawton, Glenn Allen Swaggart, Jr. (Keri) of Byram, Travis Swaggart of Baton Rouge, LA, John Swaggart of Hattiesburg, T.J. Whittington of Ridgeland and Aaron Yutani of West Covina; one granddaughter, Jana Whittington of Ridgeland; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Whittington and Connor Whittington of Ridgeland; two sisters-in-law, Opal Hartman of Gulfport and June McGraw of Woodville; a number of nieces and nephews.; and an adopted family, Manuel & Elizabeth Venegas and their three daughters, Gabby, Samantha and Emmie of Holtville, CA.

Cecil Perry and the Rev. Boby Greer officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home of Gloster.

Mrs. Whittington was born
July 12, 1936, in Americus, GA, the daughter of Howard William Kesler and Eunice Bryant Kesler.
She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.
Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Deborah Whittington Shell; two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, James Harvey Whittington; three sons, Craig and Wanda Whittington, Brad and Connie Whittington and Aaron and Melissa Whittington; nine grandchildren, Deidra Havard, Crystal Porschakin, Jeff and Raini Whittington, Caressa, Laci, and Brandi Easley, Joey and Jamie Leggett; three great-grandchildren, Tory Rollins, Tristen Proschakin, and "Ty" Whittington; one brother, Johnny Kesler; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be John McCready, Chris Berry, Don Berry, Wayne Tarver, Daniel Whittington and Jeff Whittington.

NATCHEZ - Graveside services for Letha Elizabeth May Tomkins, 79, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Natchez City cemetery with the Rev. Billy Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tomkins was born
Sept. 20, 1924, in Natchez, the daughter of Charles F. and Elizabeth Caroline Pernell May.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a long time carrier for the Natchez Democrat.
Mrs. Tomkins was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles "Buddy" May; and a grandson, Joseph Montgomery, Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, May Folds and husband, Cecil Folds and Caroline Tomkins; son, David Tomkins and wife, Carey Tomkins, all of Natchez; granddaughter, Elizabeth Bee and husband, Ronnie Bee of Lafayette, LA; two great-grandsons, Joseph Montgomery, Jr. and Jonathan Montgomery; granddaughter-in-law, Ora Montgomery of Natchez.
Maggie Sue Smith Arnold
NATCHEZ - Services for Maggie Sue Smith Arnold, 65, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Paul Hays and Julius Roberts officiating.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Arnold was born
March 31, 1938, in Adams County, the daughter of Tom and Mae Ratcliff Smith.
She owned and operated Arnolds Personal Care Home for 26 years. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She provided care to a number of family members and friends throughout Natchez. Her compassionate spirit touched and influenced many lives.
Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Stevie Wayne Arnold.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Wayne Arnold of Natchez; two daughters, Robbie Guzy and husband Ray of Atlanta and Stacy Moffett of Natchez; two sons, Gene Heidelberg and wife Margie of Jackson and Jay Arnold and wife Scottie of Natchez; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Patsy Wood, Sue King and Diane Graham; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jack Smith, Ora John Smith, Tom Smith Jr., Tom Smith III, Robert E. Stutzman and Chandler Russ.

NATCHEZ - Services for Mark Glen Veal, 39, of Natchez, former resident of Atlanta, GA, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Dr. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Baptist church cemetery in McCool under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Veal was born
Feb. 4, 1964, in Natchez, the son of Doyle and Anniece Parkerson Veal.
He was a member of Morgantown Baptist Church, an alumni of Mississippi College where he was a member of the Hall of Fame and as a Senior received the Founder's Award. He also earned his MBA and Juris doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi.
Mr. Veal was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Veal; paternal grandparents, Ben Hill and Cynthia Frances Veal; his maternal grandparents, Laura and Coleman Braswell.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Anniece and L. C. Smith of Natchez; sister, Ellen Yeates of Ridgeland; step-brothers, Charlie Smith of Natchez and David Smith of New Orleans, LA; step-sisters, Lynn Emfinger, Kay Cook and Lee Ann Smith, all of Natchez; nephews, Mark Yeates of Ridgeland and Hunter Cook of Natchez; nieces, Jennifer Emfinger, Jessica Emfinger and Chelsi Smith of Natchez; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Butch Thornhill, Buddy Mohon, Jim Williams, John Ratcliff, Herman Eldridge and Ted Grey.
