NATCHEZ - Services for Johnnie Anderson, 85, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Promise Specialty Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. today at Wilderness Baptist Church with the Rev. Strickland officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from noon until service time today at the church.
Mr. Anderson was born
June 18, 1918, in Wilkinson County, the son of Jake Anderson and Arlene Anderson.
He was retired after 35 years of service with International Paper and was a member of Wilderness Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ophelia Anderson; one brother, James Hawkins of New Orleans, La.; two sisters, Mattie Hawkins and Ollie Hawkins of Natchez; two grandsons, Joseph (Nicole) Williams and Johnny Cardell (Augustine) McCaleb, all of Natchez; 16 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Robert E. Williams

NATCHEZ - Services for Robert E. Williams, 56, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born
Oct. 27, 1947, in Natchez, the son of Walter Williams and Lillie B. Williams.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a very special friend, Dorothy Mae Smith; one brother, Johnny "Yaddy" Williams; one nephew, Lionel Williams; special cousins, Shirley M. Jackson and Ronnie Kelly; seven step-childen; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Emeal Smith, Albert Tyler, Carlos Smith, Terry Calvin Jr., James Thomas and Larry Johnson.

Mr. Childers was born
April 6, 1963, in Natchez, the son of Aaron W. and Majorie Childers.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia D. Childers; two daughters, Lindsey and Courtney Childers, all of Natchez; father, Aaron W. Childers of Meadville; mother and stepfather, Majorie and David Corban of Pearl; two stepsons, David and Chase Buckley; three stepsisters, Penny, Becky and Bambi; one half sister, Nora Childers; grandfather, Otis Cothern of Smithdale; grandmother, Bessie Coban of Natchez; brother, Keith Childers, of Georgetown.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Ames, Larry Huff, Chase Buckley, David Buckley, Bruce Reynolds, William Barnes, Sam Floyd and George Prince.
Harry Coleman Shipp Jr.
NATCHEZ - Graveside services for Harry Coleman Shipp Jr., 87, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Glenburney Nursing Home, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Natchez City cemetery with the Rev. Brock Watson officiating.
Laird Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shipp was born
Sept. 18, 1916, in Calhoun County, the son of Harry Coleman Shipp Sr. and Beulah Parker Shipp. He was a retired horse breeder and trainer. He was also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Bailey Shipp of Natchez; one daughter, Dorothy Mulhearn of Natchez; three grandchildren, Lyn Del Caro, Becky Atkeison and Patrick Mulhearn; two great-grandchildren, John Michael Atkeison and Anthony Del Caro; one brother, Russell Shipp; and two sisters, Marguerite Gargano and Charlene Thomas.

Mr. Phipps was born
Feb. 26, 1967, in Natchez, the son of Georgia Phipps Granger and Floyd Williams.
He was educated in the Adams County Public Schools and the University of New Orleans and was an advertising executive at San Jose Mecury Newspaper.
Survivors include his wife, Melody Phipps; two daughters, Carmell and Demetria Phipps; one son, Cartrick Phipps II of Tracey, Calif.; his mother and step-father, Georgia and Raiford Granger; his father, Floyd Williams, all of Natchez; one sister, Shuwanda (Jerry) Ford of Natchez; one brother, Johnny (Kara) Phipps of Hawaii; one step-sister, Custina Granger of Natchez; mother-in-law, Dr. Gertrude Ward of Sunnyvale, Calif.; one sister-in-law, April Ward of Sunnyvale; five aunts and six uncles; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

SIBLEY -- Services for Frank Earl Jones, 63, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at VA Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones was born
July 24, 1940, in Adams County, the son of James and Janice Jones.
He was a Sadie V. Thompson High School graduate, a self-employed contractor and was retired from the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard.
He was a deacon at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and former deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church of Temple, Texas.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rosetta Woods.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie A. Jones of Atlanta; two daughters, Karen J. (Ronald) Green and Caroline J. (Charles) Washington, all of Natchez; two sons, Gerald E. (Ann) Jones of Fayette and Frederick Kirkland of Temple; two brothers, Willie (Joanette) Jones and Albert (Juanita) Jones of Natchez; one sister, Jessie (George) Murphy of Kansas City, Mo.; three aunts, Hattie (Gabriel) Barnes, Mary L. Williams and Sarah Broadway; one brother-in-law, Moses Woods Sr.; eight grandchildren, Kendra Jones, Katiece and Kayla Harris and Chakeria Screws, all of Natchez, Latrice Conner of Hattiesburg, Lekeisha Washington of Houston, Eddie Washington III of Jackson and Andrea Hernandez of Temple; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Thornburg was born
Aug. 31, 1926, in Natchez, the daughter of Ella Miller Smith and George Smith.
She was a Baptist and vice president of the choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Felice (Ike) Davis, Mary (James) Carter and Ella (Charles) Jackson; seven sons, Claude Thornburg, Bobbie (Mildred) Thornburg, Dwight (Brenda) Thornburg, Scotty (Cynthia) Thornburg, Lloyd (Margaret) Thornburg, Vernon Thornburg and Lynncoy Thornburg; two special granddaughters, Linzell Thornburg and Tamekia Shumake; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joey Walker, Cordell Thornburg, Curtis Matthews, Robert Moody and Willie Ulmer.

Shelby Edward Smith

NATCHEZ - Services for Shelby Edward Smith, 81, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 12, 2004, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Pastor Terry Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born
Aug. 6, 1922, in Archie, LA, the son of Willie Edward and Maude Belle Clark Smith.
He was a member of Covington Road Church of God. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company after 45 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Abel Smith; a brother, Vernon Smith; and one grandson.
Survivors include three children, Cheryl Dianne Mullins and husband, Billy Ray of Natchez, Kay S. Mullins and husband, Frank of Natchez and Wilmington, NC and Shelby Keith Smith and wife, Katie of Natchez; step-children, Mary Jane Covington and husband, David of Jackson, Jimmy Isabell and wife, Brandi of Jackson and Mike Isabell and wife, Tasha of Natchez; grandchildren, Shelbi Kimball of Brookhaven, Brandon Ray Millins of Brookhaven, Micki Dossett of Madison, Ginny Smith of Vicksburg and Laura Lee Smith of Natchez; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Ruby Jamison and Nannie B.
