CANNONSBURG - Services for Jerry "Bean" Woods, 53, of Cannonsburg, who died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Robert Mackel & Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation is one hour before service time at the church.

Mr. Woods was born icon Oct. 18, 1950, in Cannonsburg, the son of James Woods Sr. and the late Mary Alice Woods.

He worked as a supervisor at Fayette Enterprises for 32 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He also was a member of the Southwest Cruisers Truck Club of Fayette.

He is preceded in death by his mother; a brother-in-law, Wesley Adams, and a sister-in-law, Nora Woods, both of Hazlecrest, Ill.

Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Margaret Ann Woods; two daughters, LaKisha (Troy) Chambliss of Fayette and LaToya (Larry) Woods of Cannonsburg; a son, LaDamien Tenner of Cannonsburg; two grandsons, Kishaun Woods and Troy Chambliss Jr.; his father, James Woods Sr. of Church Hill; two sisters, Ercelia (Wesley) Adams of Chicago, Ill., and Claudia (Otis) Woods of Church Hill; five brothers, James (Nora) Woods Jr. and George (Deborah) Woods Sr., both of Chicago, Ill., Authur (Constance) Woods Sr., Flemon Woods, both of Church Hill, and Claude (Patricia) Woods of Fayette; a special niece, Corita Dorsey of Fayette; two uncles, George Woods and Willie Woods; two aunts, Beatrice Smith and Georgia Moore, both of Chicago, Ill; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Able "A.B." Chambliss

Jan. 31, 1933 - Sept. 16, 2004

STAMPLEY - Services for Able "A.B." Chambliss, 71, of Fayette, who died Thursday, Sept. 16. 2004 at the Jefferson County Hospital, will be at noon Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Chambliss was born icon Jan. 31, 1933, in Jefferson County, the son of the late Walter and Eva Chambliss.

He was preceded is death by one sister; four brothers; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Leola R. Chambliss; eight children, Dorothy (Fred) Hunter, Nathaniel (Brenda) Tenner, Albert Chambliss, and Gloria Washington, all of Fayette, Timmie (Brenda) Chambliss of Hamburg, Patricia Baker and Lisa (Douglas) Trevillion of Atlanta, Ga., and Maxine (Dale) Wimley of Ferriday, La.; three sisters, Genora Hopkins of Vicksburg, Effie Reed of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lula (Hildry) White of Fayette; three brothers, Homer Chambliss and Randolph Chambliss of Los Angeles, Calif., and Benard Chambliss of Fayette; twenty grandchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mt. Valley Lodge #6.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nephews.

Carrie Mae Frye Tenner

Nov. 27, 1954 - Sept. 20, 2004

FAYETTE - Services for Carrie Mae Frye Tenner, 49, of Fayette, who died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill #2 Baptist Church with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tenner was born icon Nov. 27, 1954, in Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Ruby and Clemmie Frye Sr.

She joined the Rose Hill #2 Baptist Church at an early age where she remained until her death. She was married icon to Arthur Tenner Sr. and to this union three children were born.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lucien Frye; and grandparents.

Survivors include her loving husband, Arthur Tenner Sr.; two daughters, Yashica (Robert) Tenner and Arthurine (Terrell) Tenner, both of Fayette; son, Arthur (Tammy) Tenner Jr. of Biloxi; stepson, Archie Pinder of Fayette; four granddaughters, Zanquisha Tenner, Aasaylah Tenner, both of Fayette, and Aylazya Tenner, Ja'lah Tenner, both of Biloxi; two grandsons, X'Quenterrius Fleming and Chelminski Tenner, both of Fayette; three sisters, Marie (the late Alphonse) Frye Larry, Delorise Frye, and Mary Ann Frye (Robert) Day, all of Fayette; three brothers, Clemmie (Lillie) Frye Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Nathaniel (Jean) Frye of Jackson, and Willie (Lequata) Frye of Portland, Ore.; a kind and loving mother-in-law, Nettie Mae Tenner of Fayette, four sisters-in-law, Diana Frye of Natchez, Jerrie (Obed) Haynes of Brookhaven, Theresia (Carl) Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., and Gail (Charles) Hutchins of Natchez; four brothers-in-law, Jackie Lee (Deborah) Tenner, Arvin Joe (Barbara) Tenner, Cedric Tenner Sr., and the late Clarence (Patricia) Tenner, all of Fayette; a special aunt, Luvenia Adams of Fayette; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Isaac H. Dean

FAYETTE - Services for Isaac H. Dean, 69, of Mokena, Ill., who died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at Hines Veteran Hospital in Hines, Ill., will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Baptist Church with Bishop Leonardo Brown officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Clara Davis

NATCHEZ - Services for Clara Davis, 84, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Cordell Marcell Jones

Aug. 30, 1985 - Sept. 21, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Cordell Marcell Jones, 19, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at University Medical Center, will be noon Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Palmer officiating.

Burial will be in the Cedar Rest cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Homes, Inc. of Woodville.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones was born icon Aug. 30, 1985, in Centreville, the son of Tom Watson Jones and Ellen Marie Palmer.

He was a correction officer and a member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

He was a member of the Army National Guard, former member of Wilkinson County R.O.T.C., former member of Wilkinson High School football team.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Thomas Sharp and Clevone Palmer, both of Woodville; two sisters, Latonquish Palmer of Woodville, and Vicki Elaine Palmer of Jacksonville, Fla.; ten uncles; nine aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be the Miss. Army National Guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be brothers and uncles.

Lee Alton Sturdivant

Nov. 9, 1928 - Sept. 22, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Lee Alton Sturdivant, 75, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Brother Coleman Almond and Brother Bernard Waites officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Sturdivant was born icon Nov. 9, 1928, in Amite County, the son of Carl and Retha McCallister Sturdivant.

He was employed in the furniture business since 1952. Mr. Sturdivant was employed by Ferguson Furniture in Jackson and Southern Furniture in Natchez. He owned and operated Dixie Furniture in Natchez before retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and was a member of 61 South Church of Christ, Natchez. Mr. Sturdivant was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Sturdivant was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Audis Ray Sturdivant.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Sturdivant of Natchez; daughter, Beverly Sturdivant Montgomery and husband, David of Dallas, Texas; son, Ronald L. Sturdivant and wife, Linda of Memphis, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Cameron S. Fisher and husband, Yancy of Aberdeen, Amy Claire Sturdivant of Memphis and Jennifer Williams and husband, Travis of Dallas; grandson, Brian Jay Sturdivant of Memphis; two great-grandsons; adopted son, Darrell D. Smith Sr. and wife, Billie of Natchez; two sisters, Johnnie S. Perrault of Natchez and Virginia S. Cavin of Woodville.

Pallbearers will be Jay Sturdivant, Yancy Fisher, Jake Thornburg, Wally Cavin, Carl Ray Cavin and Doug Cavin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Huby Thornburg, Dr. Kenneth Stubbs, Grant Green, Jack Ellis, Pernell Flowers, Talmadge Anderson, Wren Nevels and James Smith.

Dee C. McKinley

Aug. 11, 1915 - Sept. 20, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Dee C. McKinley, of Laurel formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, will be 3 p.m. Friday at Stratton Chapel at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. John Larson officiating.

Burial will be in Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. until service time at First Presbyterian Church Stratton Chapel.

Mr. McKinley was born icon Aug. 11, 1915, in Kinta, Okla., the son of the late Clarence Roy and Linne Wortham McKinley.

He graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. During WWII he served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Air Force as a meteorologist and later in the U.S. Army as a Captain. His unit was responsible for laying the gasoline pipeline for the invasion of the island of Luzon in the Pacific. He was retired from Exxon Pipeline Company after more than 35 years of service. He served as District Manager of districts in Sunset, La., Raceland, La., and Longview, Texas.

He moved to Natchez from Tahlequah, Okla. in 1995, and relocated to Laurel in Jan. 2004. Memberships included Natchez First Presbyterian Church, American Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Registered Engineer in the state of La.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sara Frances Hail McKinley; his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Dr. and Mrs. John S. Burwell of Laurel; grandson, John Burwell III of Alexandria, Va.; brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon McKinley of Paul Valley, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Hubert Gill of Kansas City, Kan. and Mrs. William Council of Ponca City, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews and a number of devoted and loving caregivers.

Pallbearers will be David Bray, Jerry Holmes, Chase Holmes, Bazile Lanneau Jr., Dr. William T. O'Brien Jr., and Michael Thompson.

Cordell Marcell Jones

Aug. 30, 1985 - Sept. 21, 2004

WOODVILLE - Funeral services for Cordell Marcell Jones, 19, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at University Medical Center, are incomplete at Rollins Funeral Home, Inc. of Fayette.

J. D. Hood

HAZLEHURST - Services for J. D. Hood, 92, of Crystal Springs, who died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at Magnolia House in Natchez, will be 2 p.m. today at Stringer Family Funeral Services Chapel in Hazlehurst.

Burial will be in the Crystal Springs cemetery under the direction of Stringer Family Funeral Home of Hazlehurst.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hood was a graduate of Crystal Springs High School. He was a pilot in the U.S. Army during WWII. He operated a sawmill in is early career and alter was a cattleman and hog farmer for many years.

He was a lifelong resident of Copiah County except for the time served in the army. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Ferguson of Crystal Springs and Anna Sue (Joe) Stedman of Natchez; brother Grover Hood of Clinton; and grandson, Clint Ferguson.
