I, Dorothy Jean Wilson Hall, was born icon in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on November 4, 1950, to Mrs. Jimmie Wilson Gordon and Mr. James Davis.

Confession of my belief and faith
I was baptized and united in Christian fellowship at a tender young age at First Baptist Church, Vicksburg, under the leadership of Reverend Joe Williams, where I attended Sunday School and was a dutiful and faithful member. I later joined Greater Mt. Olive under the leadership of Reverend Douglas Harris, where I served faithfully.

Affiliation
I was a member of the 1969 class of Rosa A. Temple High School. I was previously employed at Cedar Grove Mansion and Inn.

Love
In the presence of God, family and friends I was united in holy matrimony to Booker T. Washington, and we were blessed with a son, Terrance J. Washington. After that marriage was dissolved, I was later joined in holy matrimony to Charles Hall, Sr. until God called him to eternal rest. We were blessed with a son and a daughter, Patrick L. Hall, and Charletta J. Hall. I became step-mother to his children, Charles Jr. and Stephanie, and he became step-father to Terrance.

Demise
The final chapter of my life was recorded on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at River Region Medical Center, Vicksburg, in the presence of my loving and devoted children and sisters. I was preceded in death by my husband and my parents.

I was graciously blessed, and leave to cherish my memories my five beautiful children, Terrance J. Washington, Patrick L. Hall, Charletta J. Hall, Charles Hall, Jr., and Stephanie Rodriguez; ten precious grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; my loving and caring sisters, Ernestine Wilson Smith, and Sandra Wilson; four loving nieces and six devoted nephews, a special friend, Jimmy Gray, and cousins and other relatives and friends.

On Saturday June 7, 2014, the Angel of the Lord came to take our loving and much loved wife, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend home to be with the Maker, our Lord. "We are confident, I say and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8

Mrs. Jearline I. Cosby life's journey began when the late Mr. Henry Pollard and Mrs. Willie Mae Buck were blessed with a baby girl. She was born icon on January 22, 1956 in Claiborne County, Mississippi. She grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and attended the Vicksburg school system in the Warren County District. At a young age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized under the pastorage of Reverend Thomas.

As an adult she united with Mt. Pisgah under the pastorage of Reverend Dennis Redden until her time of departure.

She worked all of her adult life as a bus driver for the Vicksburg Warren School District. For 28 years she brought smiles to everyone she encountered.

She met Mr. Bennie Cosby in 1975 and was united in holy matrimony to him in December of 1999. There were no children born icon to this union. She was a loving and devoted wife. With his help, love and devotion, she helped to raise and care for her brothers, cousins, nieces, nephew, friends and most of all her pets.

Jearline is preceded in death by: her parents, Henry Pollard and Willie Mae Buck; grandparents, Mrs. Alice Allison and Mr. Albert Allison; one sister, Mattie Joyce Pollard; three brothers, Robert Buck, Lawrence H. Pollard, and Alonzo Pollard.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Mr. Bennie Cosby; four brothers, Marshall (Sharon Mays) Williams, Jerry Williams, John Williams and Walter Williams; a special aunt, Ms Betty Davis; a special Uncle, Mr. Albert Allison, Jr.; a special family, Jimmy, Donna, Herbert, Belinda, Demetrie, and Michelle Gray; a very best friend, Mrs. Karen Reddix; extended family, Annie Smith, Selena (Marion) Reed, Milton (Elizabeth) Cosby, Aaron Cosby, Jr., Hyman (Alma) Cosby, Odell Wesley and Shirley Mays Thomas; special family members, the Pollard, Brown, Cosey, Eastman, Torrian, Harris, Williams, Thomas, Dee, Washington, Pettis, Shelton, Summers, Dixon, Carter, Green, Carson and Lyons families; and many other family members, neighbors, friends, and co-workers who will surely miss her cheerful smile and knack of making others laugh including, Geraldine McPhail and Donna Papa.

Tamzella Smith was born icon January 18, 1955 to the late Dinah Irene Smith and Milton Smith, Sr. She was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Williams; three brothers, Milton Smith, Jr., Jerry Smith and Robert Smith; one son, Cedric Ledale Smith.

Accepting Christ at an early age, Tamzella Smith was baptized and later joined Travis Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served as an usher and on the Stewardess Board.

Tamzella worked for Anderson-Tully for many years.

She departed this life on Friday, May 30, 2014. To rejoice in her memory, she is survived by one daughter, Dinah Rena Wood (Ronald) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; two sons, Gerald Glen Smith and Erick Smith both of Vicksburg, Mississippi; two sisters, Theresa Smith and Josephine Smith both of Vicksburg, Mississippi; four brothers, Kenny Ray Smith, Desi Smith, Marvin Smith and Tyler Smith all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the Smith, Carr, Waters and Spates families.

Ellawise T. Ross was born icon in Vicksburg, Mississippi on April 15, 1942 to the late Mr. Warren Thomas and Mrs. Izorah Thomas of Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Gracie Mae Ivory, Lonnie Thomas, Jim Thomas, Warren Thomas, Jr. and Dewitt Thomas.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was reared in the Oak Ridge area where she was a faithful member of the Holy Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and became a member of St. Rose Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. In her spare-time she enjoyed being a Mary-Kay consultant.

She retired in 1984 and became a homemaker where she spent countless hours fishing and spending time with her siblings, family & friends.

Cherishing precious and loving memories of her are: two daughters, Carolyn McGowan (Eddie) and Betty Chiles (Mark) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Eddie McGowan, Jr., Mark Chiles, Jr. and Markayla Chiles; two great-grandchildren, ZyKeria Chiles and Amyia McGowan.

Also feeling the loss of her passing are her surviving siblings Milton Thomas, Earnestine Wesley, Clarence “TC” Thomas, Carrie Trammel, James Thomas, of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Chestine Thomas of Vallejo, California, along with a host of other loving relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.

Eddie Lee Howard died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Community East Hospital. He was born icon October 16, 1953 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age.

He graduated from Warren Central High in 1972. He was a self-employed landscaper for many years, before moving to Indiana to live with his companion and his daughter.

Eddie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hicks Howard, paternal grandparents, Joseph Howard, Sr., Viola and Annie Howard; maternal grandparents, Richard Daniels and Josephine Brown; uncles, Albert Young and Leon Blackmore; aunts, Susie Anna Blackmore and Dorothy Mae Jones.

He is survived by his companion, Mary Jones of Indiana; (two daughters), Nicole Howard of Indiana and Latasha Galloway of Vicksburg; (three sons), Eddie Howard, Jr., Jerome Howard, and Louis Grant all of Vicksburg; parents, Joseph and Dora Mae Howard of Vicksburg; (six sisters), Mary Ann Lewis, Joe Evelyn and Lee Dora Howard all of Vicksburg, Jerridine and Barbara Howard of Jackson, MS and Gloria Jean Holmes of Lincoln, Nebraska; (three brothers), George Maniel of Starkville, MS, Anthony J. Howard of Vicksburg and Billy Ray Howard of Bolton, MS; numerous of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; (aunts), Eleanor Neely of Oakland, Calif., Mary Louise Wade of Richmond, Calif., and Betty J. Mary Ann Hudson was born icon November 25, 1966 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mary Ann departed this life May 25, 2014 at River Region Medical Center.

She was a graduate of Vicksburg High School. She received her degree in Cosmetology from Hinds Community College.

Mary Ann accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. She was born icon to the late Robert and Maxcine Hudson. She was the fourth of a family of six children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maxcine Hudson, grandmother, Unzell Wilkerson and brother, Tommy Hudson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Latoya Hudson, Jennifer Hudson and Kayla Hudson all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; four sisters, Bobbie (Robert) Thomas, Sarah Wilkerson all of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Georgia Hudson of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Alice Hudson-Harris of Los Angeles, California; three brothers, Sammy Wilkerson, Gregory Hudson and Alvin (Mary) Jenkins all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Kyambria Williams, Keiristen Carroll, Kamori Lake, Keirihana Johnson, Kaliyah Hudson, Kamira Hudson and Layla Walker; four aunts; six uncles; and a host nieces, nephews, and other relatives including the Wilkerson, Williams, Allen, Reese, Jenkins, Hudson, Anderson, Martin, Carroll, Greene, Johnson and Swartz families.

Maurice Andre "Moe" Jordan Harrison was born icon November 21, 1970 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Edna E. Minor Harrison and Teola Jordan (both deceased). Maurice departed this world on May 20, 2014. Maurice was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1989.

Upon graduating high school, Maurice moved to Washington, D.C. and began employment as a clerk for the General Service Administration. He attended the University of Columbia in Washington, D.C. where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Maurice also furthered his education at Howard University. He was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity on March 15, 1998 with the nickname "Droopy". Maurice was dedicated to and truly loved his fraternity.

While in Washington, D.C., Maurice begin his career with CCA's Correctional Treatment Center. He later transferred to CCA's Houston Processing Center where he remained a trusted, faithful and loyal employee until his untimely demise.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Edna E. Minor Harrison and Teola Jordan; a sister, Mary L. Harrison Hicks; a brother, Benjamin Harrison, III; and maternal grandparents, Bernard and Rosalie Minor.

Maurice leaves to mourn his passing: a loving fiancée, Tina Bryant; a daughter, Jada Anderson; four brothers, Alfred Minor, Edward (Lillie) Minor, Lawrence Minor and Gregory (Carolyn) Harrison, Sr., all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three sisters, Edna E. Harrison and Angela (Samuel) Peterson, both of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Rosa L. (Donny) Harrison-Garner of Washington, D.C.; two uncles, David Minor and Karl Minor, Sr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi; special nephew, Michael Harrison; special cousin, John W. Minor, Jr. and a host of special friends, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins including members of the Minor, Summers, Thomas and Stewart families.

A Time to Be born

Bro. Arthur Henry Jackson, Sr. was born icon on April 21, 1956 in Hollandale, MS to William Jackson and Helen Ford Jackson. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 12, was baptized, and joined Poplar Hill A.M.E. Church, Fayette, MS. He later joined King David #1 Baptist Church, Vicksburg, MS, where he served faithfully. Arthur graduated in 1976 from Jefferson County High School, Fayette, MS. He was a working man who believed in taking care of his family. He was employed at Magnolia Mobile Homes for several years. He later became employed at Cooper Lighting, and remained there until he retired.

A Time to Love and Grow

He married icon Maxine Felton, and to this union four children were born. This marriage was resolved. He was later united in marriage to Carolyn Smith. To this union one child was born, and he was also blessed with two wonderful step-children.

A Time to Die

Arthur “Lil Bro” “Fat” “Jack” Jackson took his rest on Sunday, May 25, 2014 as the sun began to set at his home in Vicksburg, MS. He was surrounded by his wife, brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Jackson.

Tamara was a 1997 graduate of Vicksburg High School. She received an Associate of Science Degree (Paralegal Studies) from Robert Morris University in Chicago, Illinois.

She was the owner of Timeless Tax Services.

Tamara was preceded in death by her mother, SSG Jerlene “Muchee” Slaughter-Patterson; step-father, Carl Paterson; paternal grandparents, Steve and Jessie Washington; and maternal grandmother, Modell Yancy Slaughter.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Orlando Hull of Atlanta, Georgia; daughters, Makayla Tionna Hull, Keionna Shanice Hull, Kanique Banks, Kayla Thompson and India Jefferson all of Vicksburg; father, Steve Washington, Jr. of Vicksburg; stepmother, Rena Sue Hill Washington of Vicksburg; maternal grandfather, Terry Slaughter of Vicksburg; brother, Kenneth C. Bobbie Lee Sanders was born icon on September 28, 1934 to Annie Mae Bland and Alonzo Moody near Hollandale, Mississippi. Her family relocated to Vicksburg, Mississippi when she was a young child.

Bobbie accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of First Baptist Church.

Bobbie met her life partner Dorsey Mays in her early twenties. They had 9 children together.

Bobbie was preceded in death by Dorsey Mays, Sr., Billy Joe Mays, and Dorsey Mays, Jr.

Left to cherish her memories are her surviving children: Willie (Winnie) Mays of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Diane Mays (Michael McCoy) of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Maple (Michael) Brown of Jackson, Mississippi, Bobbie Mays of Atlanta, Georgia, Earline (Michael) Jones, Geraldine Mays (Robert Clark) of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Charles Mays of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Virgie Lee Sanders of Memphis, Tennessee; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Anyone who knew Bobbie would say she symbolized strength. She was an easy going person who enjoyed the simple things in life such as being around and caring for her family and friends. She also enjoyed taking walks. Later in life, she spent some of her leisure time at casinos.

Ida Mae Peavey Humphrey, beloved Mother and friend, was born icon on January 18, 1950, to Mary Nell Kelly Peavey and Ernest Peavey in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Reece, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was a rambunctious youth full of life and adventure.

Ida graduated from Alexander High School in 1968 where she participated in the marching band as a pantherette. She attended Copiah Lincoln Junior College in the early 1980’s and received training to become a certified emergency medical technician.

Ida met and married icon her high school sweetheart, Dr. Willie D. Humphrey in the summer of 1968 and the couple was blessed with three children: Monica, Bryant, and Christopher. During their union, they lived in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Lorman, Mississippi; Starkville, Mississippi and finally resided in Fayette, Mississippi for 10 plus years before she made Vicksburg, Mississippi her home.

Ida was immensely creative and innovative which was seen in her magnificent sewing skills, crocheting and cooking abilities. She was an active member of Triumph Church where she participated in small group sessions and other church activities. She worked as a security guard for Securitas where she greeted all with her warm inviting smile.

She is survived by: her mother, Mary Nell Kelly Peavey of Brookhaven, Mississippi; a sister, Ara Nell Love of Killeen, Texas; three children, Monica (Philip) Humphrey of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Bryant (Felecia) Humphrey of Fayette, Mississippi, and Christopher (Armetter) Humphrey of Rock Island, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, LaTezeon, Trey, Keyuana, Brandon, Serenity and Chris; 2 great-grandchildren, William and Christian; and, a special niece, Bridget Sanders of Killeen, Texas. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loyal friends and extended family.
