Donald Wayne Reed, Jr. was born icon September 23, 1955 to the union of the late Donald, Sr. and Gloria Reed in the Bovinia Community. He confessed Christ as a teenager at St. Paul M.B. Church.

He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1973, and obtained an associate degree in General Construction and Electric Wiring from Hinds Community College in 1975.

Mr. Reed utilized his skills and trade at Miss-Lou Equipment Company, as a Diesel Mechanic Instructor for Hinds Vo-Tech, and the Vicksburg Warren School District Transportation.

Donald was a loving and caring individual who never met a stranger, had a heart of "gold"; always made any event one to remember, and knew everything about everything. He was instrumental in assisting with the St. Paul Family Life Center's construction and, ever so often you'd find him swaying in melody with the St. Paul Male Chorus.

The loved ones who will be there to welcome him home are; his father, Donald Reed, Sr.; sister, Anita Reed Harper; and daughter, Acasia Lee.

He was blessed to create many memories that will carry on in those he left behind: his loving and devoted wife, Cassandra Clark Reed; daughter, Yolanda (Armaan) Anding of Brandon, MS; sons, Marvin Reed and Samuel Reed of Vicksburg, MS; Staff SGT. Jeffery Watkins of Jacksonville, NC; his loving mother, Gloria Reed of Vicksburg, MS; brothers, John Michael (Belva) Reed of Vicksburg, MS and Willis (Alma) Reed of Houston, TX; sisters, Lucy Reed of Brentwood, MD and Angela (Reginald) Johnson of Dallas, GA; mother-in-law, Retha M. Clark of Vicksburg, MS; father-in-law, T.J. Robinson of Vicksburg, MS; four grandchildren, Chancellor and Kadence Anding, Marvin Reed, Jr. and Cayden Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many, many friends.

Percy James Washington Eatmon (Bilbo) was born icon March 25, 1918 to the late Perry Eatmon, Jr. and Eva Harris Washington in Edwards, Mississippi. He passed this life on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Percy confessed Christ at an early age of 12 and attended Rohelia Baptist Church in Cayuga, Mississippi. He was raised by his grandparents, Perry and Lizza Harris of Utica, Mississippi.

Percy was a World War II Veteran and retired from ABF Trucking after 22 years of diligent service.

On October 12, 1955, Percy united in Holy Matrimony to Clara Barnes.

Percy was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Washington; brother, Perry Eatmon, Jr.; sister, Lillie Bell Washington and son, Lee Brown.

Percy leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Crystal Washington of Vicksburg, Mississippi; one brother, Sidney (Tonia) Eatmon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister, Christine Washington of Urbana, Illinois; four grandchildren, Romero Ringo, JaKira Washington, Tara Brown and Tiffany Brown of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Janice Brown of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends throughout the country.

Irish Rogers Lovings, 80, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Irish was born icon on November 19, 1932, daughter of the late Clarence Rogers (AKA, George Moran) and the late Ida Mae Harris.

She attended public school in Vicksburg, Mississippi. While living in Vicksburg, she worked at a local café. During her stay in Vicksburg, she met George Brown of Chicago, Illinois and bore one child, Eddie L. Rogers. Irish later moved to Aurora, Illinois where she met and married icon Grant Lovings in 1964. Although, after ten years of marriage, they divorced; he remained a father, grandfather and friend to her and her family. Irish was a longtime resident of Monroe, Louisiana; where she resided until her death.

A homemaker, she was an excellent cook and seamstress. She spent her spare time sewing for people in the community, cooking for family and friends. She was a very kind, gentle soul; with a loving, generous heart, who never met a stranger. She was always welcoming and giving to others. People saw her as caring, genuine, funny and always nurturing with a smile from the heart. She always gave her best.

Irish leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her only child, Eddie L. Rogers (Andrea) of Aurora, Illinois; her grandson – she helped to raise, Anthony Rogers (Lekisha) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; granddaughters, Lashawn Young (William) of Downers Grove, Illinois and Kristie Rogers of Aurora, Illinois; a brother, Harvey Moran of California; two special nieces, Pamela Smith of Oswego, Illinois, Gloristine Clark of Detroit, Michigan; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including her caregiver, Greta James of West Monroe, Louisiana.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Marilyn Amos and Ernestine Clark. Irish was a light in many lives. She held a special place in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Daisy L. James was born icon on April 1, 1958 in Hollandale, Mississippi to Ada and Preston Gaines, Sr. Mother James found Christ at the early age of 12 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church where she joined the choir. Later she joined Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Mother of the church and a member of the Women Auxiliary. Mother James married icon her wonderful husband James D. James on August 9, 1978 where they were blessed with four children to add to this union.

Mother James worked at Carters, Max Gas Station, Suzy’s and Chic Wigs. Her true passion was braiding hair. Her last job was at Fantasy City where many were greeted by her sweet smile.

Mother James was preceded in death by her parents, Ada and Preston Gaines, Sr.; her grandparents, Bessie and Sim Putman; her brother, J.C. Gaines and her aunt, Geraldine Robinson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James D. James, Sr.; her daughter, Adlean James of Vicksburg, Mississippi; her three sons, James David James, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Tyrone James and Chadricks James, Sr. all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; mother and father-in-law, Adlean and Kenneth Smithson of Boston, Massachusetts; three sisters, Martha Powell of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Rosatta Royster and Ella Klein both of Greenville, Mississippi; five brothers, James (Annette) Scott, Preston (Jewel) Gaines of Vicksburg, Mississippi, J.D. Gaines of Madison, Mississippi, T.J. Gaines of Greenville, Mississippi, Soyda Pelotta of Lewiston, Idaho; aunts, Cottie Allison and Virginia Subject both of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Laura Harried of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Treasure Dennis and Mycheal James both of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Chadricks James, Jr., Anaya James of Texas, Jaquez James, Johnathan James, Tynesha James, Tyiesha James of Sioux City, Iowa; a special cousin, Lucinda Williams, Patricia Glasper of Vicksburg, Mississippi; special friends, Ceola James, Melva Darden, Rachel Crawford of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Eunice Polk of Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. James Alfonso Carter was born icon on October 7, 1957 to Roberta Carter and J.W. Wilson.

On Wednesday, December 26, 2012 an angel came to silence his lips and took him home to be with the Father.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Carter; father, J. W. Wilson and brothers, Clyde Cook and J. B. Irving.

Remaining to cherish “Sonny” memories are five brothers, Curtis Armstrong, John Carter, Robert Carter, Sr., Greg Tatum and Michael Singleton; five sisters, Shirley Williams, Annie (Alan) Dulaney, Annette Funches, Betty Morris and Elsie Beacham; a special brother, Floyd Stewart; a special friend, George McDuffie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alfred James Davis, Sr. was born icon on March 22, 1942, to the late Willie and Judy Rose Davis in Redwood, Mississippi.

“A Time To Live”

Deacon Alfred confessed to a belief in Christa at an early age. He was a faithful member at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Choir Member and Usher. July 14, 1991, Alfred was ordained as a Deacon under Pastor Clifton Spicer and served until his health failed. He continued on the Deacon Board through his illness under the pastorage of Reverend Joe Harris, Jr.

He attended Gibbs Elementary in Bentonia and Kings School in Vicksburg. He worked diligently at the Coca---Cola Company and then at Anderson Tully until his health failed.

Alfred was a loving Husband, Father, Granddaddy, Brother, Uncle, cousin and friend. He worked hard and shared an undying love for his family and friends.

“A Time of Homegoing”

In accordance to God’s Holy plan, he ascended to Glory on Friday, December 21, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Judy Davis; Four brothers, Cartha Davis, Robert T. Davis, Willie Davis, Jr. and Walter Davis; and one sister, Carrie Etta Tillman.

“A Time To Mourn”

Alfred’s Memories will forever remain with his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Bell Davis; their children, Debra (Jonas) Davis of Jackson, MS; Gloria (Melvin) Lynn, Alfred (Gail) Davis, Jr., Darrell Davis, Larry (Tiffany) Davis, Sr., Gregory Davis, Cynthia and Wanda Davis, all of Vicksburg, MS. He will be cherished by 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a number of step-great children. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, John (late Aleta) Davis of Milwaukee, WI; George (Rosie) Davis, Sr., of St. Louis, MO; sisters, Margaret Davis of Cleveland, OH, Vepor Gaines and Evangelist Mary Davis, Both of Vicksburg, MS; and aunt, Emma Miller of Redwood, MS.

Alfred also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives including the Davis, Gaines, Tillman, Chocolate, Ragan, Miller, Spicer, Luckett-Jones, Johnson, Kemp, Burks, Stampley, Carson Families and friends.

Harrison “Pimp” Sutherland, Jr. was born icon March 15, 1945 to the late Harrison Sutherland, Sr. and Rosie Bruce Sutherland in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Harrison was the proud father of his only child, son, Harrison Sutherland III whom he loved dearly.

A TIME TO DIE

Harrison passed away surrounded by his loving wife and son on the 20th of December, 2012 at River Region Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison Sutherland, Sr. and Rosie Bruce Sutherland; his sister, Beatrice Sutherland and his brother, Arthur Sutherland.

Harrison met his soul mate, Theresa Sutherland in 1978 and they married icon in 1982. You rarely saw one without the other.

Harrison was baptized at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg and has been a member of Travelers Rest since 1990.

Harrison is survived by his wife, Theresa Sutherland; a son, Harrison Sutherland, III; first cousins, Clarence Parnell and Mary Lee Barnes; and a host of second and third cousins.

Vinia Elizabeth Brown Dolley Wilson was born icon September 6, 1947 in Mississippi to Dora Richardson-Wolfe and Alexander Brown.

She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a former member of Mt. Alban Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High school. She was a former employee of Compress and the Tic Toc Beverages. She also was a former babysitter for Judge Allen Derivaux and family.

Vinia was a very compassionate and loving wife and mother. She departed this life on December 16, 2012 at River Region Medical Center. Vinia was 65 years old.

She is preceded in death by her father, Alexander Brown; maternal grandparents, Truly and Mary Richardson; paternal grandparents, Bunk and Vinia Brown; a son, Eddie Lee Brown; grandson, Walter Lee Dolley, Jr. and great grandson, Kameron Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Johnny Wilson of Vicksburg, Mississippi; mother, Dora Richardson-Wolfe of Vicksburg, Mississippi; two daughters, Angela Dolley of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Wanda (Thomas) McCalpin of Bloomington MN; four sons, Walter Dolley, Sr., Leslie (Janice) Brown, Charles (Ivy) Brown all of Vicksburg, MS and Derrick Brown of St. Paul, Minnesota; four sisters, Claudia Hester and Jackie Wolfe both of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Dora Ann Richardson and Janet (P.J.) Wolfe both of Minneapolis, MN; 7 brothers, James Richardson of Vicksburg, MS, Melvin Richardson of Madison, MS, Arthur Richardson and Johnny Richardson both of Minneapolis, MN, Darnell Wolfe of Apple Valley, MN, Daniel (Melanie) Richardson of St. Paul, MN and George (Millie) Richardson of Edina, MN; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends including members of the Richardson, Brown, Young, Taylor, Hester, Anderson, Hedrick, Claiborne, Powell and Patterson families.
