Rosia Mae Anderson was born icon on May 20, 1924 in Belzoni, Mississippi to the late King and Julia Young Anderson. She accepted Christ at 10 years of age at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Silver City, Mississippi under the leadership of the late Reverend Irvin. Rosia later united with Mt. Zion #1 Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a choir member, on the kitchen committee, a loyal fund raiser, and on the Mother Board. She later united with Bright Morning Star under Reverend Reginald Harris. She also served her community well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Rosia was a loyal and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was generous to a fault always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word to those in need. She was a loving, caring, and dedicated mother that worked hard to raise and educate her children. She owned and operated Rosia’s Beauty Corner for many years.

Rosia departed this life on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the University Medical Center. Rosia was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Estella Hill and Susie Singleton; three brothers, Robert Lee, King JR., and Jessie Anderson; a daughter, Gladys Frierson; and a grandson, Gus Fleming.

Rosia leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Nancy (Alfred) Huff of Jackson, MS, Letitia (David) Fleming of San Diego, CA; two sons, Charles (Patricia) Wright of Vicksburg, MS, Alphonso (Pebles) Wright of Jackson, MS; sister, Lue Oliver Anderson of Tallulah, LA; brother, James (Sadie) Anderson of Tallulah, LA; two sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Anderson of Chicago, IL, Odessa Anderson of Tallulah, LA; twelve grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, seven great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends

Mr. Jermaine Dewayne Walton was born icon in Vicksburg, Mississippi on November 28, 2012 to Ruth Ann Walton and Walter Wilson.

He was a graduate of Warren Central High School. He was an employee of the Waffle House.

Jermaine loved his family and friends. He found joy and pleasure in helping others. Whenever he had the opportunity, you could find Jermaine either working on cars or fishing. When he would enter a room you could immediately see that beautiful smile on his face.

Jermaine was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather; his maternal grandfather, Fred Moore, Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Mattie Mae Wilson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Ruth Ann Walton of Vicksburg, Mississippi; father, Walter Wilson; brothers, Terry Dean Walton, Cornelius Edward Walton, Dana Lamar Walton, Curtis Walton all of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Hebrew Edward Walton of Brandon, Mississippi; step brothers, Patrick O’Neal and Stacy Hill both of Vicksburg, Mississippi; his maternal grandmother, Vera White of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Luella Scott Williams was born icon on July 6, 1931 in Dermott, Arkansas to the late Alfonso Scott and Mary Buford Johnson both whom preceded her in death.

She confessed Christ at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her grandfather, Reverend J. B. Buford. She served faithfully as church secretary until her departure. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School, later attending nursing training at Kuhn Memorial Hospital.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Arthur Williams, Jr. They were blessed with four sons.

She departed this life on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg where she had been a resident since April 28, 2012.

Left to cherish her memory, emulate her life and continue her legacy of service are: four sons, Arthur James and Mary Jo Williams, Ronald Lee and Janice Williams of Vicksburg, Mississippi all of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Dennis Michael Williams of Topeka, Kansas, David Dwain and Tonya Williams of Dallas, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of devoted relatives and friends.

Mary Lee (Mae Lee) West White was born icon June 30, 1953 in Edwards, Mississippi to the late David and Angline Jackson West.

Mary untied with Friendship Baptist Church at an early age. She met the love of her life, Rufus White, Sr. and they were married icon August 12, 1971. She graduated from Hinds A.H.5. and went on to a career in early childhood education. She was employed with the Hinds County Head Start for well over 20 years up until her illness struck.

She was preceded in death by her son, Willie Christopher White and her brother, Willie Lee West.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, Rufus White, Sr. of Raymond, Mississippi; her son, Rufus White, [r., Edwards, Mississippi; daughters, Shellene White, Edwards, Mississippi, Charlene White (James Gray), Clinton, Mississippi; aunt, Elvestra Jackson Morrison, Jackson, Mississippi; sister, Clara Mae Wallace Williams, Edwards, Mississippi; brother, David West, Edwards, Mississippi; three grandsons, De'Marcus White, and LaZarus Williams both of Edwards, Mississippi and Satarious Gray of Clinton, Mississippi and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a daughter that she took as her own, Tanuel Sizer.

As the sun rose on October 11, 1980, Harold LeMonte Jones was born icon to Ouida Jones Theriot and Harold Stewart in Vicksburg, Mississippi - the only child of Ouida Jones Theriot.

A Time to Plant
Harold L. Jones confessed and accepted Christ. He was baptized and united with Clover Valley M.B. Church under the leadership of Reverend Johnnie L. Williams. Harold enjoyed singing and he was a member of the Church Choir.

A Time to Achieve
Harold attended Warren Central High School and was a member of the honors choir, drama club, Basketball Homecoming King and actively participated in other school activities. He was also a member of Clover Valley Church Choir and Mighty Train Gospel Choir.

A Time to Depart
On Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 8:00 a.m., the angels of death visited Harold at Canon Hospice Home to close out the final chapter of his life. Harold became absent from the body and present with the Lord while his mother and aunts surrounded him. Harold was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilson B. Jones, Sr. and his step-grandfather, Johnnie Lee Davis.

Jones, Jr. (Beulah) of Edwards, MS, Lee Flowers of Jackson, MS, Tyjunnia Davis of Georgetown, MS, Mary Atkinson, Teresa Davis, Donald Frazier, Robert Stewart and Johnnie Stewart all of Bolton, MS; great uncles and great aunts James W. John Tyler Sims was born icon on October 27, 1946 in Sharon, Mississippi to the late R. T. and Susie Sims. Mr. Sims graduated from Bentonia High School in 1968. After graduating, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He returned home to marry the love his life, Nora Granderson on July 17, 1971 in Yazoo County. During this blessed union, two wonderful children were born.

John was employed at Marathon Letourneau for 21 years and also worked for Cooper Lighting for 18 years. He became a member of Mt. Pleasant Church in Duckhill, Mississippi under the leadership of Bishop A.C. Barnes. Later, he was led by the Lord to join the Temple of Empowerment in Vicksburg, Mississippi under the leadership of Pastor G. Tyrone Haggard where he was crowned as deacon.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Benny Hawkins.

His memories will be cherished by his wife of nearly 41 years, Nora; two children, Keith (Detrica) Sims of Yazoo City, Mississippi and Slovicka (Willie) Thomas of Natchez, Mississippi; six sisters, Fannie Brown of Oakland, California, Bobbie Grace of Canton, Mississippi, Betty Sims of Michigan City, Indiana, Mable Lyons and Shirley (Howard) Jackson both of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Patricia Hawkins of Eagan, Minnesota; six brothers, Caleb Ware of Meridian, Mississippi, Robert Sims and Carl (Cynthia) Sims both from Vicksburg, Mississippi, Kenny (Yvonne) Hawkins of Eagan, Minnesota, Bobby (Willie) Hawkins of Charlotte, North Carolina, Willie (Linda) Hawkins of Canton, Mississippi; mother, Hattie Hawkins of Canton, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Keidrick, Keon, Kyron, Charkilia, Titus and Tynesha; one special nephew, Christopher Booker; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She confessed Christ at an early age in Learned, Mississippi. As a young adult, she moved to Vicksburg where she united with the Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. She served as an usher before serving on the Mother Board.

Mother Rachel L Walker was united in holy matrimony to her husband, Ed Walker. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She found joy in helping others and serving the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John Henry and Clara Swanagan; husband, Ed Walker; daughter, Ed Jean McClendon; six brothers, John Marshall, Jr., Leonard Swanagan, Wilmore Swanagan, Talmadge Swanagan, Cornegia Marshall and William Marshall; sister, Adeline Kirkwood, two grandsons, Darrell McIntosh and Darryl Nervis.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving daughter, Bertha McIntosh-Grissett (Jack) of Norfolk, Virginia; granddaughters, Brenda Nervis and Veronica Stewart both of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Michelle McIntosh of Memphis, Tennessee and Tanya McLean of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandson, Christopher Neal of Jackson, Mississippi; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Carrie Banks and Christine Kirkwood both of Chicago, Illinois, Alice Worth and Maereatha Jones and Erma J. Mary Ann Jackson Truitt was born icon March 2, 1967, in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Viola Rush Jackson and Percy Leroy Mays, Sr. She was a 1985 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was active on the varsity basketball team. She was affectionately known as “Pro” by team members because of her street-style playing technique. She attended Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi and earned training from Job Corps in Batesville, Mississippi. She was employed by Isle of Capri (formerly Rainbow Casino) for twelve years as a Lead Deli Attendant.

She was a member of the 61 North Bypass Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, her grandparents, Jerry and Winnie Rush Clark, and Frank and Martha Mays Barnes, a brother, Michael Jackson, and a great nephew, Deltaurus Holmes.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Charles, Jr.; one daughter, Chantae; a granddaughter, Jakia; sisters, Mary Jackson Wilson, Claretha Jackson, her twin, Ann Mary Jackson (Therington) Nunnally, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Alma Jackson Holden of San Francisco, California, Vanessa Jackson Harris of Memphis, Tennessee, Linda Mays (Bennie), Martha J. Mrs. Thelma J. Irving was born icon to the late Ardelia Wilson Davis and Louis Davis, Sr.

She departed this life April 28, 2012 at her home in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Mrs. Irving was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, James E. Davis. Thelma accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi. She later moved to Los Angeles, California and was an active member of Greater Bethany Church of Christ in Los Angeles.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a long-time companion, James Caston of Vicksburg, Mississippi; one son, Carl (Aleta) Davis of Victorvill, California; one grandson of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Leretha A. Davis of Los Angeles, California and Willie Mae (Willie) McCroy of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three brothers, Louis (Brenda) Davis, Leon (Christine) Davis all of Edwards, Mississippi and Eddie (Octavis) Davis of Port Gibson, Mississippi; an uncle, Eddie Johnson of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Lula and Verdisel Stamps and Irene Caston of Edwards, Mississippi, Mary Hill and Florence both of Los Angeles, California.
