On May 7, 1927, Ella Mae was born
as a second child in Wildsville, Louisiana to St. Clair and Roener Mitchell. She was baptized and joined church at an early age. She became a member of St. Peter M.B. Church and attended for many years until her health began to fail her.
Ella Mae was joined in holy matrimony to Johnny Cook, Sr. in 1958. To this union, three children were born, Johnny Jr., Betty, and Willie.
Ella Mae had been a resident of Covenant Health and Rehab for the past eight years. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She is known for her mild, sweet, and patient spirit.
Preceding her in death are her parents: St. Clair and Roener Mitchell, two brothers: Julius and Samuel Mitchell, one sister: Annie Hawthorne, and a son: Johnny Cook, Jr.
Ella Mae leaves behind with fondest memories: two sons, Reverend Walker D. Wright (Emily), Olive Branch, MS and Willie Cook (Diane), Vicksburg, MS; two daughters, Helen Wright, Vicksburg, MS and Betty Mace (Robert), Vicksburg, MS; two brothers, William Mitchell (Vonda), Tallulah, LA and Abron Mitchell, Mt. Laurel, NJ; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

George Willie O'Neal, Jr. was born
on July 7, 1955 to Mary E. Tribble O'Neal and George W. O'Neal Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Peters M. B. Church under the director of Rev. Slaughter. George attended Rosa A. Temple High School where he played football. He worked for the University of Mississippi Medical Center as a pharmacy technician for years before becoming disabled. George was a very quiet and shy individual who was very active in sports. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family- George met Betty Harried and conceived his only child, Ingrid Rochelle Harried on September 29, 1974 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Mr. O'Neal died Monday, April 23, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 56 years old.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Tribble- Caldwell; his father, George W. O'Neal Sr.; and a brother, James D. O’Neal.
Survivors include his daughter, Ingrid Rochelle Harried of Jackson; two brothers, Calvin O'Neal of Vicksburg and Samuel O'Neal of Atlanta; one sister, Mary J. O'Neal-Carter of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ms. Rosie Lee “Sis” Tenner departed this earthly life on Monday, April 23, 2012 at River Region Medical center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was 73 years old at her time of death.
She was born
September 28, 1938 to the parents of Mr. Caleb and Mrs. Doris Wilson, who both preceded her in death. Also to precede her was her son, Randy Tenner; one sister, Katie M. Scott; one brother, Willie James Stampley, and one granddaughter, Linda Early.
She was raised in Fayette, educated in Vicksburg and employed by Crawford Mims. Sis, a born-again Christian, was a great mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend that will be dearly missed.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Tenner, Sr. of Vicksburg; four brothers, Charles Wilson, Sr. (Taurra), Curtis Wilson, and Arthur Wilson (Tracey), all of Vicksburg; Edward Wilson (Willie Ruth) of Raleigh, North Carolina; three sisters, Bertha Marie Gamble of Fayette, Eva Wilson Hayward (Louis) of Aurora, Colorado, and Cora Sweet (Jimmy) of Vicksburg; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Elijah “Happy” Russell was born
on February 7, 1935 to the late George Russell, Sr. and Hazel Ellis Russell in Warren County, Mississippi. He attended the Bovina Public School System. He grew up in the Bovina Community and accepted Christ at an early age. He attended the Rose Hill MB Church, but joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in later years where he was faithful until his health failed.
Elijah retired from Caterpillar Incorporated in Peoria, Illinois in 1982. Happy loved the sport of pool and fishing and spent much of his retirement years enjoying both pastimes. Being a jack of all trades, he also engaged in Carpentry and Roofing.
On Tuesday, April 10, 2012, the angel of the Lord visited Elijah at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and he entered into eternal rest.
Elijah is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, J.W. Holden, Sr.; five brothers, Eddie Russell, Harvey Russell, Roosevelt Russell, Wardell Russell, Williams Russell; four sisters, Gladys Russell, Linda Russell, Louise Russell, Rosetta Russell; three daughters, Michelle Randolph, Robin Griggs, Veda Russell; and an infant son.
Elijah leaves to remember his “happy” spirit, his wife of 27 years, Ida Mae Holden Russell; mother-in-law, Ida Lee Holden; three brothers, George (Barbara) Russell (Aurora, IL), Jessie Cooper (Vicksburg, MS) and Robert Russell (Kewanee, IL); two sisters, Charity Russell (Kewanee, IL) and Gennive Williams (Aurora, IL); seven sons, Elijah Russell, Jr. (New Albany, MS), Reggie Miller (Tupelo, MS), Kenneth Russell (Atlanta, GA), Mitchell Blake (Milwaukee, WI), Richard Edwards, (Aurora, IL), Willie Tyrone Holden (Vicksburg, MS) and Dawayne Holden (Vicksburg, MS); four daughters, Angela Suggs (Aurora, IL), Keisha Brock (Aurora, IL), Katherine Holden (Vicksburg, MS) and Kristina Holden (Ridgeland, MSA); 25 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Gloristine “Bunch” Wells Stamps was born
to the late Eddie Wells and Ada West Wells on October 14, 1931 in Hinds County.
Unspoken words of Bunch: When God breathe life into me he had a mission for me to fulfill. As a child I was introduced to Christ by my parents, “Papa” and “Lady”. At an early age, I joined the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi under the leadership of Pastor C.D. Brown on September 28, 1941. I served faithfully as a junior choir member, Sunday school and Church Secretary until my health failed. I attended Mt. Moriah School and Southern Christian Institute in Edwards, Mississippi. I worked at Edwards Elementary and Junior High School for thirty years as the cafeteria manager upon retiring in 1994. I married
Oliver L. Stamps in 1974. To this union, there were no children.
Gloristine departed this life on April 4, 2012 at 2:00 a.m. at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.
She leaves behind to cherish her beloved family, her husband, Oliver L. Stamps of Edwards, Mississippi; one brother, Johnnie L. Wells of Burgaw, North Carolina; two sisters, Alma J. Powell and Sylvia V. Bennett both of Edwards, Mississippi; a niece she reared as her daughter, Eddie Mae Powell Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
For God as her refuge, her battle is over. Her earthly mission is complete. So rejoice in her homegoing, mourn her not, cry tears of joy. For now she’s free, thank God she’s free; no longer bound; no more chains holding her. Her soul is resting, it’s such a blessing. Thank God Hallelujah, she’s FREE….

Deacon Raymond E. (Duck) Ellis was born
on July 12, 1940 to the parentage of the late Mrs. Gertrude Washington and the late Mr. Johnny Eastman. He was the youngest son of seven siblings.
He was educated in the Vicksburg Public School System. His work profession included working as a Certified Welder at Marathon Shipbuilding for over 13 years, and a retired Deputy Sheriff in Warren County with over 23 years of service.
Deacon Ellis accepted the Lord at an early age and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and as a Deacon. He was definitely a God-fearing servant that possessed a genuine love for his church and made sure the premises were in order.
Through the years he was Lead Singer for a number of Gospel Groups including; the Harps of David (known for recording their first single in 1970), the Southern Bells and the Gospel Allstars. Occasionally, you could hear a sample of his angelic voice on various church programs. His most requested song was "Use Me Lord".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Maurice Defrances Williams, Jr.; four brothers, Nathaniel, Mose, Claudis and Ernest Ellis and one sister, Gertrude McDaniel.
The angels of heaven summoned Deacon Ellis home on April 1, 2012 to rest eternally in the arms of Jesus.
His memories will linger forever in the hearts of his wife of over 50 years, Mary J. Ellis; five daughters, Victoria, Rita, Francine, Joyce and Lois Ellis; one Godson, Pastor Edmond Gibbs; one brother, Curtis (Francine) Ellis, Cleveland, OH; 13 grandchildren, Marylliss, Johntae, Tyra, Chadryc, Delvechio, Sr., Rajesh, DruMarrias, Jamilia, Raymond, Jalanga, Jeremaih, Jarvis and Dawnquita; 7 great grandchildren, Mauriye, Jaylen, Carlos, Damiya, Delvechio, Jr., Willie and Daelyn; a sister in law, Virgie Ellis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including a special friend, Elijah (Square) Parker.

CHURCH, FAITH: Baptized at age of 10 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Clarksdale, MS; became a devout, long-term member of New Christian Fellowship Church.

SURVIVORS: Sons: Frank W. Gambrell, IV, Port Gibson, MS, and JeCorry Miller, Clarksdale, MS; sisters: Dwilette G. McFarland (Victor). Vicksburg, MS; Donna G. Anderson (Ralph), Pearland, TX; granddaughter: Kaitlyn Johnson, Clarksdale, MS; nephews: Rick Anderson (Keisha), Bellaire, TX; Frederick McFarland, Vicksburg, MS; Daniel McFarland, Scranton, PA; nieces: Selena Anderson, Pearland, TX; Kelly Anderson, Dallas, TX; and many other relatives and friends.
DISPOSITION: Frank had a bright and encouraging spirit that always showed others that through faith in God, life can be happy and fulfilling, no matter the challenges.
