Mr. Gerald Royal was born icon September 29, 1965 to the late Gloria Jean Robinson Rankin and the late Robert Cornelius Royal in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was the first boy born icon in a family of seven girls! So you know we showered him with much love. Mama had seven girls before he was born…imagine how happy we all were to welcome him.

Gerald attended elementary and secondary schools within the Vicksburg Warren School District. He was a handyman and formally worked with Mr. Joseph Johnson

He accepted Christ and was baptized at the New Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in 1977 under the leadership of Rev. T. H. Turner. At 49 years of age, Gerald transitioned to his new home on Saturday, August 30, 2015.

To cherish the many memories of our brother, uncle, and friend, Gerald is survived by nine sisters, Debra Kay Robinson Goodman, Sharon Ulette Robinson of Clinton, Gloria Jean Cooper of Jackson, Jacqueline Anita Cooper, Andrea Diane Royal, Robin Denise Royal of Jackson, Dawn Royal, Kenya Willette Cooper, and Catrina Rochelle Cooper of Jackson; two brothers, Robert Dewayne Royal of Jackson and Cedric Lee Cooper; his stepfather, Willie Lee Rankin; a host of nieces and nephews to include Gerald (Winnifred) Goodman (his namesake), Wanda Groves, Justin Earl Robinson, William (Deatra) Shelby, Jr., Anthony Robinson, Tiffany Robinson, Jeremy Robinson, LaTonya (Clarence) Course, Kiara Ellis, Keithon (Kendria) Cooper, Keisha Cooper, Katina (DeCorey) Knight, Karlton Winters, Karlee Winters, Corey (Jerushea) Royal, D’Antonio (Gwendolyn0 Royal, Cornelius (Shannon) Royal, Casaybre Royal, Melvin (Sarah) Tillis, Kentrell Tillis, D’Andre Royal, Lexie Royal, Chassie Royal, Justin Royal, Colby Gross, Brandon Cooper, Madison Cooper, Cameron Cooper, Byron Smith, Quincy Cooper, Kiana Cooper, Isaiah Cooper, Kiyla Cooper, Taneya Cooper, and Akeem Cooper; 55 great nieces and nephews; five great great nieces and nephews, cousins, Mrs. Bessie Walton and Michael Smith; and in laws, Bruce Edwards and Lavell Groves.

Additionally, Gerald’s memory will be cherished by his companion of 17 years, Deborah Williams and her family: daughters, Debbie and Lillian Williams; son, Justin Williams; grandchildren, Johnsharica Ross, Derreon Williams, Jeremy Mason, Jacob Ross, Justin Williams, and Raniya Atkins.

Gerald has numerous friends from across the city and from his childhood neighborhoods – Jefferson, Fayette, and Munday Streets – who he treasured over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria Jean Robinson Rankin and Robert Cornelius Royal; sister, Janice Marie Robinson Edwards; his grandparents, Lelia Annie Robinson, Easter Copeland, and Ephraim Nailor; nephew, Akeeli Cooper; and nieces, Brenda Robinson and Karlisha Royal.

Gerald loved his family. No matter when he departed from any of us, he would always say, “LOVE YOU!” We will miss everything about him, but more notably we will miss his smile, laughter, and just the sound of his voice. We will forever look over our shoulder or look from the corner of our eye for him – he walked all over town. We (Debra, Lettie, Doe Doe, Jackie, Andre, Robin, Dawn, Boone, Lee, Kemmie and Trina) say to our brother, “REST WITH THE LORD, GERALD! You will never be forgotten! LOVE YOU!!!”

Mary Lee Ringo Brown Bowman departed on September 1, 2015 at Merit Health

Hospital in Vicksburg, MS at the age of 66. She was a faithful member of the Word Church of

Vicksburg, MS.

Mary attended Rosa A. Temple High School. Mary loved to praise God she loved to go

to church, loved to cook and take care of her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Sam O. Bowman, her parents; Henry &

Ada Ringo, Stepmother; Lutisha Ringo, Brother Willie Ringo and a granddaughter; Alicia Kelly,

two sister in laws; Daisy Ringo and Lorine Ringo.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters; Jacqueline (Joe) Brown, Felicia

Kelly and Andrea Brown; one son Augusta (Joe Joe) Brown Jr. all of Vicksburg, MS, one sister

Prophetess Bertha Davenport of Killeen Texas, two brother; James Ringo and Henry (Debra)

Ringo both of Vicksburg, MS; eight grandchildren Ronny Brown, David Kelly Jr. all of Vicksburg,

MS; Michael (Courtney) Battle Jr. of Dallas Texas; Shawmone Brisco of Jacksonville, FL, Kiara

(Kenneth) Robinson of Fort Wayne Indiana and Davianne Kelly, Michelle Battle and LaTomma

LaNette (Goldie) Bunch all of Vicksburg, MS, six greatgrands; Torrianna Battle, Da'Marrious

Hill, A'Marri Goodman all of Vicksburg, MS John and Johnesha Grimes, Kenneth Robinson III

Hubert Wallace Curry was born icon in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late Richard and Annie Elizabeth Curry. He was one of twelve children, and was also an identical twin.

Hubert was affectionately called, Twin, Swac, Big Man, Rev and Preacher. He received his early education in Greenville, Mississippi public school system, receiving his diploma from Greenville High School. He attended Abilene Christian College, later transferring to Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. Swac and Twin dominated every football game they played. The Curry Twins were named the #1 line backers in the Nation by the Southwest Athletic Conference. That is where the name "SWAC" came from.

Hubert was baptized at the age of twelve at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi under the leadership of the late Reverend J. M. Kimble.

In August of 1976, Hubert met Angela Khaye Darling at Lane College. On March 24, 1984, Hubert married icon Angela Khaye. To this union a baby boy was born icon and they named him Branden Richard.

Hubert was employed with Greenville Police Department, City of Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Transit, Brookhaven School System and Brookhaven Sheriff Department.

In October of 1985, Hubert moved with his family to Hollywood Florida. Hubert was a faithful and loyal member of the Church of God of Prophecy - Hollywood, Florida under the guidance of Bishop Lloyd Pratt for 15 years. Hubert sung in the church choir, the South Florida Mass Choir, attended Sunday School and was a member of the Men's Ministry. Hubert enjoyed talking to family and friends about finding and serving God. Hubert always put God first.

He was preceded in death by: his father and mother in 1981 and 1983, respectively; brothers, Wardell Thomas Miles and his twin Herbert Wallace, Edgar Darling; and sister-in-law, Sally Darling.

Hubert leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife Khaye and son Branden Curry; mother-in-law, Dorene Darling, Florida, grandmother, Marie Collie, Florida; sisters-in-law, Ana (Anthony) and Kim (Jason Nephew), of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers--in-law, Edward (Melaine), Red Darling, Florida, brothers, Louis (Dorothy) Miles, Vicksburg, Mississippi, Karl (Beatrice) Wallace, Atoka, Tennessee and Harry Wayne Wallace, Vicksburg, Mississippi; sisters, Greta (Cloid) Ratler, San Francisco, California, Sarah Ruth Bailey, Chicago, Illinois, Jacqueline (Ernest) Dotson, Greenville, Mississippi, Ethel Larkins, El Paso, Texas and Shirley (Frank) Brown, York Town, Virginia; college roommate, Andrew Brady, Alabama; friends, Evelyn Freeman, Florida, Richard and Linda Robinson, Florida, Pastor Reggie and Cassandra Barnes, North Carolina, Tim and Linda Lightburn, Florida, Melvin Freeman, Florida, Walter Hill, Florida, Melvin Smith, Mississippi; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mack Vaughan, Jr. was born icon on April 22, 1974 to Mack, Sr. and Mona Richardson Vaughan in Aurora, Illinois. He obtained his education from Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

He accepted Jesus at the age of 8 years in 1982 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Bovina, Mississippi and kept his love of Jesus in his heart. He had a good heart and was always willing to help anyone.

He transitioned from his earthly home when he received a visit from one of God’s angels on August 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mona Lee Richardson Vaughan.

He leaves precious memories to be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Kewana; sons, Mack Thomas and Dearius Shelton, Vicksburg, Mississippi; and one step-son, Terrence Fields-Reese, Monroe, Louisiana; two daughters, Kayla Thomas, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and MaKeisha Vaughan, Monroe, Louisiana; one brother, Leshon Vaughan, Madison, Wisconsin; one sister, Chiquita Beasley, Aurora, Illinois; two sister-in-laws, Deborah (Conrad) Lodge and Caroline (Eric) Thaxton. There are many other people who will cherish his memories -- his aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, his extended family of Openwood, and other relatives and friends.

Ms. Gloria Jean Williams

Gloria Jean Williams was born icon March 15, 1943 in Redwood, MS to the late Cleve and Pearl Geneva Williams.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, James Williams, Cleve Williams, Jr., and Willie Williams.

Gloria accepted Christ as her Savior at Evergreen M.B. Church at an early age. She later joined Greater Grove Street M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Casey Fisher until her death. She always smiled and had a friendly sweet spirit. She was loved very much by her family and friends.

She attended Rosa A. Temple. Her lifetime work was spent as a cook. She worked for Vicksburg Warren School, EDR Head cook at Harrah’s Casino, Good Shepard and Kids are Kids Day Care until her health began to fail.

On August 13, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Merit Health River Region Hospital, Gloria left her earthly home and moved to her heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted children. Two daughters, Carolyn (Charles) Spencer of Raymond, MS, and Janice Robinson of Vicksburg, MS; Three sons, Eliza (Zandra) Williams, Michael (Patricia) Williams both of Vicksburg, MS, and Richard (Tiffany) Robinson of Jackson, MS; one loving sister, Daisy W. Hemphill of Vicksburg, MS; Six loving brothers, Forrest (Hazel) Williams, Columbus (Hattie) Williams, Herbert Williams, Louis Williams all of Vicksburg, MS, Johnnie (Paula) Williams of Milwaukee, WI, and Larry Joe Williams of Chicago, IL; twenty four grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Mr. Lemmie T. Straughter

Mr. Lemmie Tyler Straughter Jr. was born icon November 2, 1941 to his parents Lemmie T. Straughter Sr. and Gloria Wooley Wilson.

He accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he graduated high school. He later became a faithful member of New Dimen-sion World Church of Vicksburg in 2004. where he remained until his passing.

He was a retired employee of Cooper Lighting formerly known as Westinghouse for 42 years and President of IBEW for 20 plus years.

He transitioned this life to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Rev. Linda R. Straughter, his mother Gloria Wooley Wilson and his father Lemmie Straughter Sr., and his uncle William Wooley Jr.

He is survived by his fiancé, Catherine Doss; Four children: Deborah Straughter, Lemmie T. Straughter, III, Pamela (David) Anderson, George Tyler (Franshelia) Straughter, one sister Mary Helen Franklin, one nephew William Timothy (Wilda) Franklin, III, a great nephew, William T.J. Franklin, IV, and a great great nephew Gabriel Franklin.

Six Grandchildren; Brittni (Alex) Allen, of Florida, Lemmie Tyler Straughter, IV of Florida, Dylan Anderson of Florida, Dawnisha Straughter of Florida, Jabari (Maria) Straughter of Texas, Anthony Straughter of Texas.

Six Great Grandchildren; Alahna, Unique, Braylen all of Florida, and Emily, Aniya and Elijah of Texas.
