Samuel F. O'Neal (affectionately known by his love ones as Jody), was born icon on December 19, 1967, to George O'Neal and Willie O'Neal. Sam left his earthly home on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. In a silent whisper, God heard his cry and with the loving kiss of an Angel, God welcomed him home, saying rest my child, "My servant well done! Now spread your wings and fly on home to the mansion you have prepared until we see you again."

Samuel received his formal education in the Vicksburg Public School System. He enjoyed learning. He was in the band and other various activities, including making others smile. Samuel soon after pursued an education at Alcorn State University, majoring in and receiving a degree in Business Administration and later pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.

A former member of Rose Hill Christian Church, Samuel later joined Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church with which God's grace he made his new church home.

Samuel was a proud and dedicated son, father, brother, and friend. Samuel tried to instill in those around him the importance of having a relationship with God, as well as how to treat people in the way you would like to be treated in the eyesight of God. In his walk with God and throughout his journey of loving those around him, Sam was blessed in so many ways. He had many talents such as cooking, decorating, singing, and talking about the Word, which he loved so dearly.

Samuel was preceded in death by: his father, George W. O'Neal; two brothers, Jaymes O'Neal and George W. O'Neal, Jr.; paternal grandparents, George O'Neal and Marie "Miliken" O'Neal maternal grandparents, Ira Tolliver and Gusteenia Tolliver; a great aunt, Clara Graves; two uncles, James Nickols and John Wesley; an aunt Rosie Wesley and a cousin, Gary Motley.

Samuel is survived by: his son, Joshua Lewis of Houston, Texas; his mother, Willie O'Neal Peaches of Vicksburg, Mississippi; two brothers, Matthew O'Neal and Calvin O'Neal of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three sisters, Felicia O'Neal-McClure (Prentiss) and LaTangie O'Neal, both of Huntsville, Alabama, and Mary O'Neal-Carter (Charles), Vicksburg, Mississippi; two aunts, Lillie Motley (Johnny) of Racho Cucamonga, California, (whom he spoke so lovingly of), and Ethel Carter (Fred), of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.

Marcus’ life can be characterized by his generosity and love toward his family and all he encountered. Marcus and his siblings shared a close relationship throughout their entire lives. He enjoyed the family reunions, fishing, raising his pet dogs and spending time with his family.

Marcus was one of four children born icon on May 3, 1983 to Cherry and the late Leroy Brown, who preceded him in death along with his grandparents, the late Dennis and Mary Brown, and Billy and Josie Walker. Marcus was born icon and raised in Vicksburg, MS. He accepted Christ at an early age at Cedar Grove MB Church in Vicksburg, MS. God called him home on Monday, July 20th surrounded by family.

Marcus leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Cherry Brown; loving and devoted fiance’ Jackie Johnson and three children, Kaitlyn, Kaleigh, Kianah of Summerville, SC; three sisters, Felicia Brown, Oklahoma City, OK, Brittany Brown and Whitney Brown both of Vicksburg, MS; Nieces and Nephews, Brendan and Briawna, Oklahoma City, OK, Marquis, Landen and Kingston Brown; Vicksburg, MS; Aunts and Uncles, Bobby Jack Brown, Harry George Brown and Dennis Johnson of Vicksburg, MS; Reginald Walker of St. Louis, MO; Calvin Walker of Memphis, TN; Terry (Virginia) Brown of Alexandria, LA; Ernest Paul (Darlene) Brown of Houston, TX; Deborah Walker and Lorene Tate of Memphis, TN; Bridget (Joseph) Walton of Dalhgren, VA; Pauline Harris, Mary Louise Brown and Canerie (Don) Garret of Vicksburg, MS, and a host of cousins; and the Pettis, Harris, Pollard, Cartwright, Shelton, Jackson and Franklin families and a multitude of friends.

Floyd Smith was born icon January 25, 1944 to the late Floyd and Mary Smith in Lafayette, Louisiana. He departed this life on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

He was of the Catholic faith. Floyd worked hard and tirelessly to provide for his family. He formerly worked for Graham Packaging Company for 15 years where he retired. After retiring, he worked at Walmart for 5 years. In addition to being a hard worker, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Smith.

He is survived by his lovely wife Clementine Smith of Vicksburg, Mississippi; his brother, Albert Smith (Ruby) of Jackson, Mississippi; his children, Kimberly Travis (Greg) of Bossier City, Louisiana, Mary Jefferson (Darion) of Dallas, Texas, Felicia Williams (Philip) of Lavon, Texas, Travis Smith of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Lawrence Smith of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Anthony Smith of Jackson, Mississippi, Patrick Smith of San Francisco, California, and John Ceasar (Shawnda) of Jackson, Mississippi; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Bobby Earl Huell was born icon March 6, 1950 in Vicksburg, MS to the late Bennie and Gertrude Wilson Huell.

Bobby was called home on July 20, 2015. He was baptized at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS under the leadership of the late Rev. J.H. Williams. He united with Mercy Seat M.B. Church in June of 2015.

He is a 1970 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High where he played football. He furthered his education at Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS where he played football (star running back). After graduating from Alcorn, he became a free agent for the Pittsburg Steelers.

He began his teaching career in 1980 teaching and coaching at McCall High in Tallulah, LA then later on to Hinds AHS in Utica, MS. In 1990, he began working for Vicksburg Warren School District at Vicksburg High School.

Bobby was preceded in death by three sisters Rosie Palmer, Willie Mae Coleman, and Louise Perkins. Five brothers Herbert Harper, Barrington Wilson, Bennie Huell, Jr., Albert Huell and Louis Huell

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Julia Wynn Huell; a son, Derrick (Pamela) Huell; a daughter, Angela (Christopher) Barnett, and Kelsey Huell; Three grandsons Adrian Smith, Caleb Barnett and Caden Barnett; one great grand-daughter Amariyah G. Barnett; two sisters Pearl Huell Harris, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Katie (Abe) Walls of Mesa, Arizona; three brothers Charles Huell of Jackson, Mississippi; Clarence Huell, Alonzo (Linda) Stevens of Vicksburg, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including VHS family.

Willena Miller was born icon on August 23, 1935 to the late Mrs. Lydia Miller and the late Allen Miller in Utica, MS.

Willena accepted Christ at an early age. She belonged to Belmont Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant of Christ, where she served as an usher until she moved to Vicksburg. Willena was a homemaker.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her cousin, Lucille Wheatley and best friend, Shirley Peaches. She is preceded in death by her mother Lydia Miller, her father Allen Miller, her sisters Mosella Miller and Estella Miller, her brother Ernest Miller, Sr., Eugene Miller, George Miller, and Ed Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lorine Bass Ringo died July 10, 2015 at Houston Methodist West Hospital in Houston, Texas at the age of 66. She was of the Baptist faith.

Lorine attended Rosa A. Temple High School. She loved to cook and take care of her family.

Lorine was preceded in death by: her parents, Lovenia Brown and Tommy Bass, Sr.; grandparents, Anna Thomas and Jordan Thomas; one granddaughter, Toneka Ringo; one brother, Tommy Bass, Jr.; and three sisters, Betty Thomas, Carolyn Shaye Houston and Katie Mae Bass.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted husband, James Ringo, Sr.; two sons, James Ringo, Jr., of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Edward Ringo of Killeen, Texas; three daughters, Angie Ringo Wardley (Tony) of Houston, Texas, Ada Ringo and Ida Ringo Banks (Tyrone) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Cedrick Ringo (Tamika) of Houston, Texas, James Ringo, III, Dwight Hunter, Jakory Walker and Jarmin Ringo of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Corben Ringo of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; four great-grandchildren, De'Cedrick Hunter, Jaiden Ringo of Houston, Texas, Jaylon Ringo of Jackson, Mississippi and Shamiracle (Princess) Miller of Vicksburg, Mississippi; a very special step granddaughter, JoQuita Gusta; five sisters, Carolyn Faye Franklin (Terry), Geraldine Larkin (Robert), Clematine Thomas, and Queenie Brown King of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Rose Marshall of Benton Harbor, Michigan; five brothers, Jack Thomas, Robert Bass, Jimmy Bass and Elbert Brown, Jr. (Tralisha Brown) of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Emanuel Bass (Emma) of Aurora, Illinois; one godson, Fredrick Bass of Augusta, Georgia; two special sisters in law, Bertha Davenport and Mary Bowman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including the Ringo, Bass, Thomas, Heard and Brown Families.

Mrs. Olivia Coleman Williams was born icon September 6, 1921 to the late Mr. Ira Coleman and Lillian Coleman in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. Her life as a Christian began at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church under the late Reverend A.B. Sanders. She later joined King Solomon Baptist Church under the late Reverend B. L. Thomas. She united in holy matrimony to the late Ernest Hamp Williams.

She departed this life on July 7, 2015 at Forest Hill Nursing Home in Jackson, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her siblings; Cornelius Coleman, Earnest Coleman, Eddie Coleman, Ardell Coleman, Della Coleman and Beatrice Coleman.

She has left to cherish her memories a niece she considered her daughter, Margice Coleman Gibson of Jackson, Mississippi; and other relatives and friends.

Annie Mae Mixon-Burks was born icon July 28, 1935 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the parents of the late Eli Mixon and Alma Mitchell Polk. Annie Mae departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and later became a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church until her departure.

Annie Mae received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. She was a devoted stay-at home wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In Addition to her parents, Annie Mae was preceded in death by her husband Earl Burks; three brothers, Joe Edinberg, Oscar Mixon, and Tommy Mixon, and her niece, Alma Jackson.

Her memories will forever be cherished by her sons, Von Mixon Sr. (Clinsteen), Gerald Burks(Dominie), Eric Burks, Patrick Burks all of Vicksburg, MS and Channing Burks (Heidi) of Hattiesburg, MS; daughters, Pamela Bell (Eddie), Monica Burks, Lauren Burks- Wildee (Andrew), and Ava Burks all of Vicksburg, MS; one brother, Larry Mitchell (Ellen) of Vicksburg, MS; and one sister, Ida Moss (Jordan) of Richmond, TX; two sisters-in-law, Loice Mixon and Vella Wash of Vicksburg, MS; two brothers-in-law, Homer Burks of Joliet, IL, and Joe Burks of Texas; grandchildren, Katanga Brown (Andre), Tangi Parks (Jerry), LaVette Burnham, Chapiya Richardson, Tameka Henderson, Von Mixon, Jr., Daniel Burks, Maurice Mixon, MaDonna Stacker (Maurice), Tanisia Burks, NaMonta Gaines, LaShonda Burks, Tamara Burks, Raven Ross, Gregory Jenkins, Jr., Patrick Burks, Jr. and Channing Burks; special cousins, Mary Brown and Hazel Brown of Vicksburg, MS; special beloved friends, Vera Garrett-Dixon, Minnette Rooks, Exelena Martin, Mary McDaniel-Marshall, William Robinson, Lizzie Mae Lewis, Gloria Harris (Richard), Jeraldine Wells, Terri Wells, Bernadine Bracey, Kimberly Cruz-Fernandez, Hattie Johnson, Berda Amos, Shirley Brown, Asalee and Mack Cook, Rose and Edward Goodman and Lewis Fleming all of Vicksburg, MS; and also her spiritual family – New Rock of Ages M.B.
