Ms. Karlisha Shanta Royal, affectionately known as “Lisha” or Brownsugar, ” was born
December 24, 1981 to Robin Royal and the late Charlie Ray Amos in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Lisha attended Forest Hill and Jim High Schools in Jackson.
Karlisha accepted Christ at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jackson.
Lisha was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2000, but that disease did not conquer her –she was a fighter and a warrior. The disease did not define Lisha. She retained her sense of humor and persevered through other health challenges and hundreds of hospital stays.
At the age of 33 years, Karlisha transitioned to her new home where there is no more pain or suffering on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Merit Health-River Region Medical Center. Lisha is RESTING with the Lord!
She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Charlie Amos; grandmother, Gloria Jean Rankin; grandfather, Robert Cornelius Royal; great-grandmother, Lelia Annie Robinson and Easter Copeland; aunt, Janice Marie Robinson Edwards; and cousins, Brenda Robinson and Akeeli Cooper.
To cherish the many memories, Lisha is survived by one daughter, DeKerria Deshay Kelly; three sons, Keshaun Montrell Williams, Jamarius Deshaun Williams and Deyveon Marquise Williams; mother, Robin Denise Royal; two brothers, Melvin Lee Tillis, Jr. and Kentrell Bernell Tillis; granddaughter, Amarah Shauntae Kelly; special friend, Jamil Williams, all of Jackson, Mississippi. Lisha also leaves to cherish her memories four nieces, Aaliyah Tillis, Miracle Tillis, Kiara Rush, and Janiya Tillis; one nephew, King Mason Tillis; eight aunts, Debra Robinson Goodman, Sharon Robinson, Gloria Cooper, Jacqueline Cooper, Andrea Royal, Dawn Royal, Kenya Cooper, and Catrina Cooper; three uncles, Gerald Royal, Robert Royal, and Cedric Lee Cooper; grandfather, Willie Rankin; a host of first cousins to include Gerald, Toya, Earl, Jr., Anthony, Tiffany, Jeremy, Tonya, Kiara, Keithon, Keisha, Katina, Karlton, Karlee, Corey, D’Antonio, Cornelius, Casaybre, DeAndre, Lexie, Chassie, Justin, Colby, Brandon, Madison, Cameron, Byron, Quincy, Kiana, Isaiah, Kiya, Panteya, and Akeem; other cousins; numerous friends, including childhood friends Armimeia Barber, Tamika Hardy, and Tarsha Harris; Godparents, Melvin Lee Tillis, Sr., Arnda Thomas, Martha Ann Thomas and Katie Mae Barber; and as well as other relatives and friends.

Mary Elizabeth Carter was born
to Sandy Jr. and Eva Grace Carter on September 17, 1969 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Mary received Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age at Locust Grove Baptist Church.
Mary graduated from Warren Central High School. She was employed as a child care provider at Kiddie Kollege.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Georgia Lee and Early Simpson, Sr. and Willie James and Dorothy Washington; paternal grandparents, Sandy Sr. and Agnes Brown Carter; uncles, Arthur “Peewee” Carter, Willie Lee Carter and Early Simpson, Jr., aunt, Bobby Jean Carter Smith and a brother, Sandy Carter, III.
Precious memories will forever linger in the heart of: her parents Sandy and Eva Grace Carter; one brother, Michael Durman (Lavina) of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Pamela Brown (Shelby) Mesquite, Texas, Barbara Carter, Cathy Demby (Alexx), Diane Renee Carter, a special sister, Deborah Brooks all of Vicksburg Mississippi; god daughter, Jada Abraham of Brandon, Mississippi; five nephews, seven nieces, nine great nieces and nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family including the Carter, Banks, Brown, Durman, Erwin, Harris, Johnson, Neal, Prentiss, and Tate families.

Mr. Eugene “Sonny” Mack was born
on December 27, 1940 in Raymond, MS to the late Horace Mack and Hattie Mae Mack Jones. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of New Hope M. B. Church in Edwards, MS.
He worked as an avid construction worker for many years and was an expert builder, with a skilled eye for craftsmanship.
In addition to his parents, a son, Michael Mack; two brothers; three sisters; a granddaughter, Cynthia Mack; a grandson, Harold Jones, and a companion, Mary Reed preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Susie Mack; six daughters; Mary (Ellis) Atkinson of Bolton, MS, Theresa Mack, Precious (Ocie) Hampton, Maxine (Shawn) Gilmore, Kendra Mack all of Vicksburg, MS; and Melody (Michael) Garrett of Thomasville, GA; two sons, Harold Mack of Vicksburg, MS. And Steve East of Tallahassee, FL; seven sisters, Irene Mack-White of Brandon, MS; Barbara (Kenneth) Carter, Andrea Wheeler-Dupree, Gail (Fred) Gardner, Lizzie (Shunta) Chambers, Pamela Mack, and Evelyn Knight; six brothers, Willie “booth” Mack, Ray Charles “Duck” (Ann) Mack, Bennie Charles Mack-Williams, Joe (Cellie) Mack, Horace Mack, Jr., David Mack, and Larry Mickell; two step daughters, Pamela Dotson and Kimberlin Clark both of Vicksburg, MS; twenty-three grandchildren, including Louis Davis and Lavarra Mack, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including Rochelle Atkinson and the Reed families.

Cozetta was born
February 24, 1958, to the late Ella Mae Jenkins and the late James White Jenkins Sr.
She was summoned to eternal rest on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age.
She was united in 1976 in holy-matrimony to Michael K. Smith, Sr., and to this union, three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Mae and James White Jenkins, Sr. Her sibling, Geraldine Jenkins Lewis, Saginaw, Michigan followed her in death the next day on June 7, 2015.
Her memories will be forever cherished by: her husband, Michael K. Smith, Sr.; three children, LaShonda Smith Moore of Gulfport, Mississippi, Michael K. Smith, Jr. and Byron D. Smith both of Vicksburg, Mississippi; seven grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings, James Jenkins, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, Velma Jenkins Mosley of Flint, Michigan, Chester Jenkins, Gloria Jenkins Maxey, Issac Williams, Aaron Smith, Johnny Williams, Bernice Williams, Stephanie Williams, Shannon Williams and Michael Mann all of Vicksburg and other relatives and friends.

Billie “Backhoe” Thompson, 1934-2015, a great man who loved his toys: the backhoe, tractor, grader etc……..
Billie Thompson was born
October 15, 1934 in Madison County, Mississippi. He was the youngest of ten siblings born
to James and Rosa Thompson. He departed this earthly realm on May 27, 2015 at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg, Mississippi, after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, Olive Mae Waverly, who reared him after his parents departed. He was also preceded in death by nine siblings.
He moved to Vicksburg during the late 1950’s to seek better employment opportunities. And joined the staff at Riverside Construction where he worked for 55 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his wife of eight years: Romonia Thompson of Vicksburg, Mississippi; a stepson, Lorenzo Bryant; stepdaughter, Tarshia Bryant of Vicksburg; Nicole Horton, a grandchild of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three additional grandchildren; four great grandchildren all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives from Raymond and Jackson, Mississippi, Florida, Illinois and Georgia.

Mrs. Doris Jean “Grandma” Davis departed this life on May 22, 2015 at Merit Health River Region Hospital. She was 72 years old.
Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was active in the Women’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 213. She was known for her wit, hospitality kindness and generosity to all those she encountered. Mrs. Davis was employed with Kuhn State Hospital and the Vicksburg Medical Center as an Operating Room Technician. She grew up in the St. Mary’s Catholic School System and was a graduate of the Rosa A. Temple Class of 1961.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt Daniels, Sr. and Christene Peaches; grandmother, Beatrice Lyles; godparents, Josef and Velma Woodson; brother, Roosevelt Daniels, Jr. and grandson, Derrick Stamps.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Davis of 42 years; children, Veljo Davis (Bobby), Kourey Davis, Sr., (Anesa) both of Vicksburg, Janice Young of Seattle, Washington, Denise Albino (Raymond) of North Richland Hills, Texas, Cynthia Mayfield Brown (Bill) and Kimberly Lane (Dedric) both of Vicksburg; daughter-granddaughter, Madison Wilson Davis of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Brandis Wilson, Ashley Torrence, Kourey Davis, Jr., Demetria Bracey, Kourtney Davis, Alexia Lewis and Symone Stamps all of Vicksburg; great-grandchildren, Kourey Davis, III, Kayden Davis and Korbin Davis all of Vicksburg; siblings, LaVonne Clark, Sara Cage and Emma Lewis (Raymond); god-sister, Elayne W. Her Arrival and Departure
In 1966, on November 18th, lovingly welcomed was a baby daughter given the name Cheryl Denise Erves, to Betty and Robert Erves, Sr. On Friday, May 15th, 2015, she traveled to move in a new home not made by hand. There, to experience no more pain, sorrow, or disappointments. "Sherry's" Holy Spirit moved with the Lord. This transition was made from her home on Bovina Cut Off Road in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
When She Met the Lord
The most important decision a person can make in life, she made it! That decision was when she decided to make Jesus a part of her life. As a child, she confessed a belief in God at Mt. Pisgah (Hickory Tree) Baptist Church, and was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Elzie O'Neal, Sr. She remained an active member of "Hickory Tree" until her departure on Friday.
Her Appreciation for Knowledge and Work Ethics
Miss Erves' fun days of high school were spent at Warren Central. After her high school graduation, she furthered her studies at Mississippi College, then, on to Cosmetology School where she received her Mississippi
Cosmetology License and held a position with Glamour Girl Salon in Atlanta, Georgia. Returning to her hometown in Vicksburg, she accepted a position with Quality Inn Suites of Vicksburg and remained there for more than 20 years. She remained an employee of Quality Inn, as an auditor until her hospital admission, November 2014. She fought to return to work, but God said No, and He took her home.
