SOUTHAVEN - Services for Hazel "Virginia" Leigh, 77, will be at 10:30 a.m. June 13 at Brantley Funeral Home, Olive Branch with interment in Memorial Park Southwoods cemetery. Leigh died June 10, 2009. She was a member of Barton Baptist Church where she served as a nursery worker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edwin F. Leigh Sr., a brother, Galen Carpenter and grandson, Derrick Scott. She leaves a son, Edwin F. Leigh Jr., Olive Branch; daughters, Yvonne Scott, Barbara Varner, both of Southaven; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, David Carpenter, Memphis, Gardner Carpenter (Mural), both of Vicksburg.

Everett "Pat" Kelly
HERNANDO - Services for Everett "Pat" Kelly, 85, will be at 10 a.m. June 13 at Hernando Funeral Home with interment in Grays Creek cemetery. Kelly died June 6, 2009 at his residence. He was a retired plumber and a World War II Navy veteran. He was a Deacon at Grays Creek Baptist Church and a co-owner of Kelly towing Service. He leaves his wife Ruth Kelly; daughter, Terry Lynn Kelly Aviotti, Hernando; sons, Danny Ray Kelly, Meridian, Tim Kelly, Hernando; sisters, Odell Scott, Coldwater, Estell Coffey, N.C., grandchildren, Justin Cartwright, Ashton Taylor-Kelly, Zach George, Christina Aviotti. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Kelly House.

Willie J. Akins
OLIVE BRANCH — Services for Willie J. Akins, 78, will be at noon Friday at Forest Hill South with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Akins died June 9, 2009. Interment will be in Forest Hill South cemetery. Akins was an Army veteran. He was preceded in deth by a son, David Akins. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Ara M. Akins; two sons, Ricky J. and Danny J. Akins, both of Olive Branch; two sisters, two brothers; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Patricia Dale Sparks
OLIVE BRANCH - Services for Patricia Dale Sparks, 62, were Wednesday at Brantley Funeral Home, Olive Branch, with interment in Blocker cemetery. Sparks died June 8, 2009 after a long illness. She graduated from Millington Central High School in 1965 and worked as a teacher's aide for Shelby County for 34 years. She was a member of Emory Independent Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hester Williams, brother, James Williams Jr. She leaves her husband of 34 years, Bobby Sparks; son, Shawn Gingrich; daughter, Farrah Sparks; granddaughter, Skylar Sides.

R.P. Youngblood
WALLS - R.P. Youngblood, 77, died June 8, 2009. He was a member of Hernando VFW and Parkway Baptist Church. He leaves a sister, Barbara Pryor, Hernando and a host of nieces and nephews. Hernando Funeral Home has charge.

Charles William "Bill" White
HERNANDO - Services for Charles William "Bill" White, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at Water Valley First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery, Water Valley. White died June 9, 2009 at his home. He was retired from the family wholesale oil company business, C. W. White, Inc., where he worked for over fifty years. He attended Mississippi College and Tulane University and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a Mason and was a member of the Lion's Club. He was a member of the Hernando Baptist Church in and had previously been a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Water Valley. He leaves his wife of nine years, Anita Coleman White; sons Tommy White, Water Valley and John White, Southaven; daughters Becky White Parker, Jacksonville, Fla., and Ginger White Wagner, Dacula, Ga.; sister Alice White Stogner, Olive Branch; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Thrace Cooper White and Carl Virgil White and his wife of fifty-three years, Jeanette Humphreys White, all of Water Valley. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge.

Homer Loyd Avery
SENATOBIA — Services for Homer Loyd Avery, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pate-Jones Funeral Home, Senatobia with interment in Senatobia Memorial cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time. Avery died June 6, 2009 at the Miss. State Veteran's Home, Oxford. He was a retired grocer, a veteran of the Marines, having served during WWII. He was a Master Mason and a Shriner. He leaves eight daughters, Jacquelin Massey, Tupelo, Carolyn Thompson (Raymond), Sardis, Lynda Coleman (Mark), Senatobia, Debbie Caldwell (Tom), Senatobia, Ann Clinton, Como, Tammy McCullough, Hernando, Tracy Trainum, Olive Branch and Melissa Lawson, Southaven; one son, Jim Taylor, Senatobia and a stepson, Roy Austen, Walls; his sister, Mary McArthur, Humbolt, Tenn.; and a host of other family and friends. Any memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the Miss. State Veteran's Home, Oxford.

Linda Charlton
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Services for Linda Charlton, 58, secretary for United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local #1529, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, Southaven. Interment will be in Memphis Memory Gardens, Memphis. Visitation wil be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Charlton died June 6, 2009 at her home. She was a Baptist. She leaves four daughters, Kim Ennis, Lewisburg, Michelle Brown, Memphis, Melissa Brown, Nashville, Tenn., and Mary Flynn, Brighton, Tenn.; one son, Randy Brown, Ft Myer, Fla.; her mother, Carolyn Moore, Nesbit; one brother, Thomas A. Moore, Nesbit; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, William Moore. The family requests that any memorials be made to Boulevard Baptist Church.

Daisy Mae Carter
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.— Graveside services for Daisy Mae Carter, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with visitation at 1 prior to service, at Tippah Memorial Gardens, Ripley. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Church of the Nazarene. Little Rock Funeral Home has charge. She leaves her sons Buck Carter (Donna), Olive Branch, Ron Carter (Belinda), Little Rock and Don Carter, Florida; brother, Joe Lee Lusk; grandsons, Scott Carter (Melissa) and Pat Carter; granddaughter, Stephanie Carter; great-grandsons, Chance Carter and Hunter Montgomery and great-granddaughters, Laura Carter and Brittney Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Carter, son, James P. Carter and granddaughters, Terry Carter and Kelly Carter.

Thettis Elizabeth Burchfield Parkinson
HERNANDO — Services for Thettis Elizabeth Burchfield Parkinson, 83, formerly of Kosciusko, were Monday at Hernando Funeral Home with interment in Hernando Memorial Park cemetery. Parkinson died June 6, 2009. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Attala County. She leaves a daughter, Lillie Ophelia McCool, Hernando. Any memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Andrew Burchfield and Willie Ophelia Berry Burchfield and a brother, Thaddeus Andrew Burchfield.

William Eugene Curle Jr.
NESBIT — Memorial service for William Eugene Curle Jr., 62, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Assembly of God Church, Clarington Drive, Horn Lake. Curle died June 8, 2009. He was a self-employed truck driver. He was Assembly of God faith. He leaves his wife, Janie Curle; daughters, Christy Hayes, Georgia, Cindy Turner, Independence, Kathy Ward, Olive Branch, (step) April Harris, Nesbit, (step) Grace Williams, Sarah; sons, Gene Curle, Olive Branch; (step) Gary Morrow, Kansas, (step) John Morrow, Hernando, (step) George Morrow, Austin, Texas, (step) Nathan Morrow, Coldwater, (step) Aaron Morrow, Sarah; three sisters, Leona Moore, Bacstrop, Texas, Dianna Hugdleston, Oakland, Tenn., Linda Gail House, Nesbit; 24 grandchildren. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home, Hernando has charge.

Mary Louise Mills
SOUTHAVEN — Services for Mary Louise Mills, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, Southaven. Mills died June 5, 2009 at Baptist DeSoto. She was born icon July 9, 1925 in New Albany to the late Thomas Wesley and Tommie Hill Camp and was Pentecostal. She leaves her husband, William Allen Mills, Hernando; one son, Bobby Speck, Southaven; one daughter, Brenda Campbell, Hernando; two brothers, Carl Camp, Byhalia, and Buford Camp, New Albany; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, William Allen Mills, Jr. and Billy Wayne Mills.

Evelyn Hagood
OLIVE BRANCH — Services for Evelyn Hagood, 87, were Monday at Forest Hill Funeral Home South. Hagood died June 5, 2009. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Guy M. Hagood Jr.; three children, Gwen Hagood Ray, Floyd Hagood, Guy M. Hagood, III, all of Olive Branch; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of Goodman Road Baptist Church, Olive Branch and was retired from the Shelby County Board of Education.

COMO — Services for R.C. Cunningham, 82, retired construction worker, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home, Hernando. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Cunningham died Aug. 18, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Cunningham; two brothers, Joseph Cunningham and Kenneth Cunningham; two sisters, Evelyn Sherron and Irene McCurdy; He leaves two daughters, Janet Ward, Holly Springs, Joyce Eads, Hernando; two sons, Robert Cunningham, Millington, Tenn., Kenneth Cunningham, Birmingham, Ala; four brothers, Red Cunningham, Linden, Tenn., Bert Cunningham, Clinton, Ky., Steve Cunningham, Obion, Tenn., Lue Cunningham, Obion; six grandchildren, John, Anna, Sarah, Casey, Billy and Morgan.

Earline P. Moore
SOUTHAVEN — Services for Earline P. Moore, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Brantley Funeral Home, Olive Branch. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Moore died Aug. 18, 2009 in Holly springs. She was a Baptist. She was a former employee of Wurlitzer and the IRS. She leaves her daughters, Deborah J. Tice, Holly Springs, Kathy Huey, Humphreys, Ark.; a son, Bill Moore Jr., Byhalia; grandchildren, Becky, Tiffany, Jerry, Johnny, Kevin, Tracy and Marsha; great-grandchildren Jerry, Jacob, Christopher, Kimberly, Richie, Max and Justin. Interment will be in Memorial Park Southwoods cemetery. Any memorial may be sent to Faith Baptist Church, Oxford or A&E Hospice, Olive Branch.

Dave Tryon
MYRTLE — Graveside services for Dave Tryon, 78, will be from 2 p.m. Friday at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, Southaven. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Tryon died Aug. 18, 2009, in New Albany. He leaves his wife of 24 years, Helen; four sons, Roger, Robert, Steve and Eddie; three daughters, Judy, Joan and Ruth; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Terry Lee Williams
HORN LAKE — Terry Lee Williams, 63, died August 19, 2009 at his home. He was born icon May 17, 1946. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Williams. He leaves his wife, Dayna Williams, Horn Lake; two daughters, Trisha Goodin, Grandbay, Ala. and Stacey Williams, Meridian; one stepson, Billy Myers, Southaven; three sisters; one brother; four grandchildren, Raymond Williams, Meridian, Daniel Goodin Russell Goodin and Victoria Goodin, all of Greenbay, Ala; one great-grandchild, Dakota Goodin; many other friends. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home, Hernando has charge. Any memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.

SOUTHAVEN — Services for Robert L. McDaniel, 78, were Aug. 19, 2009 with interment in Forest Hill Funeral Home South cemetery. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the horn Lake Lodge. He leaves one daughter, Judy Marchbanks (Randy), Southaven,; four sons, Robert McDaniel (Susanne), Memphis,; Mike Morgan (Tammye), Eads, Tenn.; Jimmy McDaniel, Oakland, Tenn.; Steve Morgan, Olive Branch,; one sister, Dorothy Yancy; two brothers, Joe and Sidney McDaniel; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Marlene McDaniel and his second wife, Rebecca Sue McDaniel.

Betty J. McAninch
SOUTHAVEN - Services for Betty J. McAninch, 73, were Monday at Forest Hill South with interment in Forest Hill South cemetery. McAninch died Aug. 14, 2009 at Baptist DeSoto. She retired from FedEx in 2003 and was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna K. Green. She leaves her husband of 57 years Donald E. McAninch Sr.; two children, Cheryl Eddins (Richard) and Bo McAninch (Suzanne); five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He leaves his parents, Omar and Katherine Jaquez, Eudora; sister, Angel Jaquez; brother, Michael Jaquez; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jaquez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Tammy and Gene Williams, Eudora, Mark and Kelly Battles, Duck Hill; great-grandparents, Bill and Peggy Williams, Eudora, Darlene Roberts, Eudora, Bill Taylor, Mark Tree, Barbara and Delbert Martin; additional family, Michael Merriman.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Lahmon died April 1, at DeSoto Healthcare Center, Southaven. He was a member of Remington Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge, Warrenton, Va. and was an Army veteran of WWII. He leaves his wife, Betty Lahmon; one son, Jimmy Lahmon, Horn Lake; four daughters, Karen Thomason, Vicki Blann, Alice Tully, all of Southaven, and Jean Taylor, Salinas, Calif; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Lahmon; his parents, James and Ruth Lahmon; two sisters, Eloise King and Sis Jaffee. Åny memorials may be made to Remington iaptist Church, Remington, Va.
