GREEN
S. A. Green, a native of Hazlehurst, Miss., and a resident of Moss Point, Miss., died Monday, July 22, 2002, at a local hospital. He was 92. Mr. Green was retired from Ingalls.
He is survived by two daughters, Pearlie M. Fulton of Moss Point and Mary Alice Powe of Columbia, S. C.; one Goddaughter, Mary Dillon of Moss Point; granddaughter, Michelle Green of Long Beach, Miss.; and one grandson, Juan Lamonte Fulton of Moss Point.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24, from 9 until the 11 a.m. service at the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Gabriel cemetery in Pascagoula.
Arrangements by Gilmers Funeral Home, Mobile, Ala.

PENTON
Claude H. Penton, age 72, a resident of Moss Point, Miss., passed away Saturday, July 20, in Moss Point. born icon in Gautier, Miss., Nov. 3, 1929, to Marby Allison Penton and Mary Geneva Thomas, Mr. Penton lived in Gautier for most of his life. He taught school for the public school system in Biloxi, Miss. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Penton was also Executive Vice President of The Miss. Hunting Dog Assoc., a former Junior Warden at St. Pierres Episcopal Church in Gautier, he also served on the church building committee for the new St. Pierres Episcopal Church. Mr. Penton was presented the key to the city of Biloxi, Miss.
Survivors include a brother, Floyd E. (Sylvia) Penton of Grenada, Miss.; a sister, Mary Louise Pierce of N.C.; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Penton of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Mary G. Penton of Mobile, Ala.; a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation was at The O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier, Miss., Monday, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 23, at 10 a.m., from St. Pierres Episcopal Church in Gautier, with Father Scott Lenoir officiating the services.
Interment will be in Pine Crest cemetery in Gautier.
Pallbearers will be Steven Davis, Judson Penton, Joe Adams, Paul Lebatard, Carroll Clifford III, Jim Davis, and an honorary pallbearer, Joseph Adams Penton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Pierres Episcopal Church in Gautier.

BEAN
Mrs. Liddie J. Bean of Moss Point died Saturday, July 20, 2002, in Moss Point. Mrs. Bean was the retired owner of Paula's Dress Shop in Pascagoula. She was a member of Dantzler First United Methodist Church in Moss Point. She was an avid golfer and a lifelong resident of Jackson County.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Bean of Moss Point; sister, Mary Ruth Gwinn of Knoxville, Tenn.; and devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy and Judy Wheat, Jamie Wheat and Ryan Oliver of Moss Point.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa, Miss.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dantzler First United Methodist Church in Moss Point with a one-hour viewing prior to services. Services will be officiated by Rev. C.W. "Nick" Nicholson and Rev. Fred Britton. Interment at Griffin cemetery in Moss Point will follow.
Arrangements have been made by Jackson County Funeral Services.

DONOVAN
Mrs. Alyce Helen Donovan, 74, of Gautier died Saturday July 20, 2002, at her home. She was born icon September 14, 1927, in Littleton, N.H. Mrs. Donovan was a passionate bridge player, a protector of animals, and most of all, a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Donovan, a former longtime employee of U.S. Navy Supship in Pascagoula, and her son, Matthew Donovan.
Mrs. Donovan is survived by two sons, James Michael (Judith) Donovan III of Dallas, Texas and Brian (Bridget) Donovan of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Anne Tetting of Gautier, Miss.; two brothers, Nathaniel Carmen of Bethlehem, N.H. and Laddie Carmen of North Hampton, N.H.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 4 p.m. from the chapel at Holder-Wells Funeral home in Moss Point.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th NW Washington, DC 20037, telephone (800) 225-5993.

BLACKSTON
Hazel Blackston, 70, of Lucedale, Miss., died July 17, 2002.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 20, at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Lucedale, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. from the church.
Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Church cemetery.

BRIGHTS
Ethel Mae Covan-Brights, born icon Jan. 1, 1927, to Bill Covan and Betty McDougal of Leakesville, Miss., died July 16, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bill and Betty Covan; husband, Enoch Bright; son, Joe Shoemake; three sisters, Bessie Mae Thomas, Eldan McIntyre and Georgia Chambers; four brothers, Booker T West, John Clinton West, John Lee Covan and Benjamin Covan.
She leaves to cherish her memories two loving sons, James (Dorothy) Covan and Johnny (Mary) Covan of Moss Point; one daughter, Ms. Brenda Brights of Grand Bay, Ala.; 11 devoted grandchildren, Mrs. Remona (Ephriam) Laster of Moss Point, Ms. Towanna Covan of Pascagoula, Mr. James (Tammy) Covan, Ms. Mesha Covan, Ms. Shavonia Mason-Williams, Ms. Talveshia Bryant of Moss Point, Ms. Yolanda Bridges of Milwaukee, Wis., Mr. Quintaurus Bright of Grand Bay, Ala., Mrs. Shanoco (Darryl) Fields of El Paso, Texas, Mr. Derrell Covan and Terrell Covan of Moss Point; one sister, Mrs. Ella Banks of Moss Point; one brother, Mr. Stance (Annie Joyce) Covan of Miami, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lee Augusta West of Miami, Fla.; and a very special devoted friend, Mr. Leo Booker of Moss Point; a host of nieces, nephews; and 13 great grands and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 20, from 9 to 11 a.m., at New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 4624 Meridian St., Moss Point.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., also from the church with the Rev. Ed Putmon officiating.
Interment will be in Ford cemetery, Moss Point.

CUMBIE
Eva D. Cumbie, 65, of Gautier, Miss., died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, in Ocean Springs, Miss. She was a faithful member of The First United Methodist Church of Gautier, and a member of The Club Germania. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Hentschel and Elfriede Ortenburger.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Roy Cumbie of Gautier; a daughter, Sylvia Cummings of Pope Air Force Base, N.C.; two sons, Frank Cumbie of Delray Beach, Fla., Michael Cumbie of Gautier; three sisters, Erna Kolloch, Helga, Utia Hentschel, all of Hanover, Germany; two grandchildren, Spencer Cumbie of Delray Beach, Fla., Monique Cumbie of Gautier; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier.
Funeral service will be Monday, July 22, 10:30 a.m. at the chapel of O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier, with the Rev. Ron Stanley officiating the services.
Graveside committal services will follow at The Biloxi National cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

CUEVAS
Verlie Ray Cuevas, 66, of Harleston, Miss., born icon June 12, 1936, died Tuesday, July 17, at his home in Harleston.
Mr. Cuevas was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and his wife, Shelby, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2002. He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Harleston.
Mr. Cuevas was the former owner of Ray's Auto Body Shop in Moss Point for 35 years. He loved fishing and golfing and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hebrew and Esther Cuevas, formerly of Gulfport; two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Shelby Cuevas, Harleston; three daughters, Cynthia "Jeanie" Emmons, Hurley, Sandra "Sandy" (Buddy) Burt, Lafayette, La., Delana Cuevas, Mobile, Ala.; one son, Ray Cuevas, Jr. (Sharon), Jackson, Miss.; four grandchildren, Malissa Bailey, Jamie Burt, Jordan Burt and Corey Emmons.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa.
Funeral service will be Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m. from Trinity Baptist Church in the Tanner Williams Community, with Bro. Burl Patterson and Bro. Bill Barton officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Crest West in Mobile, Ala.
Pallbearers will be R. V. Stiglet, Ringer Stiglet, Jeffery Stiglet, Sean Stiglet, Richard O'Neal, Dale O'Neal, and Sammy O'Neal.
Arrangements by Jackson County Funeral Services, Escatawpa, Miss.

WILLIAMS
John Williams, of Lucedale, Miss., died July 15, 2002.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 20, at the Weasley Chapel United Methodist Church, Lucedale, Miss. (Vernal Comm.) from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
Funeral service will follow at 12 noon from the church.
Interment will be in Sandy Branch cemetery.

BRADLEY
Walter G. Bradley, 68, of Vancleave, Miss., born icon Oct. 25, 1933, in Miss., died July 15, 2002, at Ocean Springs Hospital, Ocean Springs, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Rufus Bradley and Phebia Nicholson.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Bradley of Vancleave; sons, James Bradley, Darrell Bradley and Craig D. Bradley, all of Vancleave; brothers, Lavaughn Bradley of Gautier, Miss., James Bradley of Clara, Miss., Charles Bradley of Richton, Miss.; sisters, Elease Mills of Clara, Miss., and Bonnie Freeman of Waynesboro, Miss.
Visitation was held Tuesday, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Freeman Parlor.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, from Freeman Chapel with the Rev. Kenith Hankins officiating.
Burial will be in Salem cemetery.
Arrangements by Freeman Funeral Home, Inc., Waynesboro, Miss.
