PRUITT
Cleveland Lee Pruitt, Jr.
Mr. Cleveland Lee Pruitt, Jr. 56 of Escatawpa, MS passed away on March 3, 2010. Cleveland was born icon in Biloxi, Mississippi to Mrs. Jessie Lee Pruitt and the late Cleveland Lee Pruitt, Sr.
Cleveland joined Summerville United Methodist Church in Escatawpa, MS at an early age. He also served in the United States Marine Corp and the United States National Guard Reserve. Cleveland was employed at Biloxi (VA Hospital) Veterans Hospital for twenty seven years where he made many friends and fond memories. He was a head cook in the food and nutrition department. He also received numerous cooking awards, as well as special recognition awards.
Mr. Pruitt is preceded in death by his father, Cleveland Lee Pruitt, Sr.
He is survived by two devoted daughters, Kalesha (Darrien) Henderson, Mikiya (Fiance’ Shun Hudson) Pruitt, both of Mobile, Alabama; devoted mother, Jessie Lee Pruitt, Escatawpa, MS; four precious grandchildren, Khalil, Kymbreia, Kenterrius Henderson and Marquavious Marshall all of Mobile, AL; two devoted sisters, Rose (Charles, Sr.) Plainer and Mary Marshall both of Moss Point, MS; six devoted brothers, Morris (Lavell) Simmons, Jimmy Pruitt, Darryl Pruitt, Darius Pruitt, Bobby Pruitt, Tony Pruitt all of Escatawpa, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Friday, March 12, 2010 at Summerville United Methodist Church, Dutch Bayou Road, Escatawpa, MS with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Willie Hill will be officiating
Interment will be in Biloxi National cemetery, Biloxi, MS

WADE
Mr. Walter Bibb Wade, 78, of Vancleave, Miss., died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his home in Vancleave. Mr. Wade was born icon Nov. 13, 1924, in Birmingham, Ala. He was retired from Ingalls shipbuilding as an engineer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva C. and Annie Bibb Wade.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Alice R. Wade, Vancleave, Miss.; two daughters, Susan (Terry) Massey, Naperville, Ill., and Holly (Rickey) Crane, Pascagoula, Miss.; one son, MstSGT, Walter W. (Alma) Wade, Hampton, Va.; three stepdaughters, Linda Price, Independence, Mo., Patricia (Mike) Walhouser, Rhode Island, Debra Bordelon-Bullock, Vancleave, Miss.; two stepsons, Joseph (Ruth) Bordelon, Gautier, Miss., Charles (Elva) Cunningham, Moss Point, Miss.; one sister, Alva Lowey, Chicago, Ill.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1-2 p.m., at Vancleave Community of Christ Church with service to follow at 2 p.m., with Elder Terry Ladnier officiating.
Burial will be in the Vancleave Community of Christ cemetery.

LUMPKIN
Patricia Buffett Lumpkin, 81, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec.11, 2002, in Pascagoula, Miss. Mrs. Lumpkin was born icon Aug. 3, 1921, in Pascagoula, Miss.
She was a lifelong resident of Pascagoula. She was the former secretary for the "Golden Age Club", a member of the Pascagoula Senior Center and a Community Volunteer. She was also a member of Our Lady of Victories Church in Pascagoula, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy B. Lumpkin, Sr.; her parents, Captain James Delaney and Hilda Seymour Buffett, a brother, William Norman Buffett; and a sister, Catherine Buffett Rappoport.
Survivors include two sons, Baxter Lumpkin of Pascagoula, and Mark (Vicki) Lumpkin of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a daughter, Tricia (Larry) Penton of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, J.D. Buffett of Daphne, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Patrick Lumpkin, Angie Kennington, Aaron Penton, Ryan Penton, Jonathan Penton, Nicholas Penton, Jed Lumpkin, and Allison Lumpkin; one great-grandchild, Brady Lumpkin.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 12, from 6-9 p.m., at the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., from Our Lady of Victories Church with Father Gerard Cleary and Father Bernie Ferrell officiating.
Interment will follow at Machpelah cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Senior Citizens Center or St. Vincent De Paul, P. O. Box 368, Pascagoula, Miss., 39568.

NEWCOMB
Brenda Lucille Newcomb, 57, of Escatawpa, Miss., died Dec. 11, 2002, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born icon Oct. 30, 1945, in Tylertown, Miss. Mrs. Newcomb was a member of Full Life Assembly of God Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include, her husband, Gerald Newcomb of Escatawpa; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Melissa Sumrall of Grand Bay, Ala., Danny Sumrall of Starkville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Chris Vaughan of Hurley; parents, James and Connie Clark of Pascagoula; four grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 12, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral Service will be Friday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. from Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Ray officiating.
Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.

NEWTON
Ben Newton, 86, born icon May 13, 1916, in Casulla, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in Pascagoula, Miss.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Billy Niles Newton, Bobby E. Newton and Phillip Newton; one daughter, Patsy Stokes; brothers, Raymond Newton and Bud Newton, and one sister, Jamie Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, June B. Newton, Gautier, Miss.; daughters, Barbara (Billy) Adcock, Gautier, Miss., Joann Brock, Texas, Linda Smith, Gautier, Betty (William) White, Pascagoula, and Pam (Brent) Robicheaux, Gautier; son Ben (Sharon) Newton, Jr., Gautier; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa, Miss.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 13, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Pinecrest cemetery in Gautier.

PETERSON
Donald G. Peterson Sr., 67, passed away Dec. 10, 2002, at his home in Vancleave, Miss. He was born icon April 13, 1935, in Chipway Falls, Wis.
Mr. Peterson served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 42 years of service. He was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Vancleave.
Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, Ingwald and Angeline Peterson and a daughter, Darlene Inette Peterson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Edna Estelle (Holden) Peterson of Vancleave; his two daughters and son-in-law, Dean Cole of Vancleave, and Tammy (Mark) Casson of Sevierville, Tenn.; his four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald (Sandra) Peterson, Jr., Terry (Dana) Peterson, Marty (Tina) Peterson, Russell (Sandy) Peterson, all of Vancleave; his brother, Marvin (Bud) Vaughn, Jr. of Vancleave, and his sister, Barbara Moon of Ala.; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 13, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Vancleave, Miss., with the Rev. W. E. Overstreet officiating.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Carter, Dalton McMillian, Arnold Sellers, Jesse Peterson, D.R. Peterson, Dusty Peterson and Honorary Pallbearer, Jimmy Holden.

SHERROD
Emma Jean Sherrod was born icon Sept. 9, 1930, in Tylertown, Miss. She had been a resident of Pascagoula, Miss., for 35 years. She departed this life Dec. 9, 2002, in Singing River Hospital.
Emma was a faithful member of The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church until her illness.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Eddie Riley-Stewart and father, Murrah Stewart; two sisters, Erma Magee and Naomi Stewart.
Emma leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, Jerry O. Sherrod, Pascagoula; two daughters, Lenora Chester, Columbia, Miss., Patricia Sellers, Gautier, Miss.; two sons, Houston Brown, Columbia, Miss., Herman Brown, Moss Point, Miss.; two step-sisters, Emma D. Hall and Margaret Hicks of Gulfport, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends; a devoted sister-in-law, Donner Allen of Pascagoula, Miss.; and caregiver, Barbara Mason.
The remains will lie in rest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Pascagoula. Funeral services will follow promptly.
Interment is at Scranton cemetery, Pascagoula, Miss.

DEAR
Gary Ellis Dear, 49, of Moss Point, Miss., passed away Dec. 10, 2002, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born icon Aug. 31, 1953, in Vidor, Texas, to the late Kenneth B. Dear Sr. and Effie D. Dyson Dear. Gary worked as a welder for over 13 years with the Colle Towing Co. in Pascagoula, Miss.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Dear Helms.
Gary is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Lerche and Lee Shumate of Castroville, Texas, Margaret Williams of Slidell, La., Marsha and Anthony Smith, Patricia Brown, Crystal Cunningham, and Sandy Dear all of Moss Point, Miss.; sons, Kenneth Earl Dear of Colo., and Timothy Sumrall; wife, Sarah Nancy Dear, both of Moss Point; 16 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Michael Schaefer of San Antonio, Texas, Judy and Larry McCurdy of Houston, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Dear of Wall, Miss., and Kenneth B. Dear Jr.; also by his many friends and co-workers at Colle Towing Co. in Pascagoula.
The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will be open for memorial visitation at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002. Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m., following the memorial visitation time.

Ruth Powell May
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Proverbs 31:28.
After a year long courageous battle and victory over cancer, Mrs. May died unexpectedly to her loved ones but not to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She loved and supported two wonderful churches and fellowships led by her loving pastors and friends -- Father John Gibson and Father Dennis Ryan of St. John's Episcopal Church (her ancestral roots) and Bro. Rodger Bradley and his wife, Stacey, of Church on the Rock.
Ruth Powell May, 75, of Pascagoula, Ms. died Monday, December 9, 2002. She was born icon July 20, 1927, in Pascagoula, Miss. Mrs. May was a lifelong resident of Pascagoula.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, J.C. May, in March of 2002; parents, Dewitt and Margaret Waters Powell; two sisters, Flora Murphy and Alberta Powell; three brothers, Emmet, Evon, and Max Powell; and one grandson, Joseph Clay Ezell. Mrs. May was a loving mother, grandparent, and housewife. She was a Past Noble Grand of Purity Rebekah's Lodge #42, Past Noble Grands Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 3373, Past President of the Auxiliary of Red Cross Volunteers, and honorary supporter of Beach Elementary School and the Pascagoula School District.
Mrs. May is survived by three daughters, Annie Margaret (Joe) Ezell, Shirley Diane (Jamie) Hunter and Debra Sue (Jimmy) Smith all of Pascagoula, Miss.; five grandchildren, Robyn JoAnne Ezell (David) Gollott; Will Hunter, Samantha and Jessica Stroop; Steven Weber and Caroline Snuggs; Jesse Diaz and Addie May Smith; two great-grandchildren Clay Gollott and Kailey May Hunter; an identical twin sister, Ruby Myers of Pascagoula; and four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy George and Mrs. Betty Pinter of Philadelphia, Miss., Mrs. Sarah (Ellis) Cherry of Porterville, Miss., and Mrs. Evelyn Nicholson of Houston, Texas, and an uncle Ralph Waters of Pascagoula; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Sam Myers, Robert Myers, Danny Goldman, Charles Zirkelback, Maurice Zirkelback, Maxwell Powell, Warren Powell, Keith Powell, Harold Carney, Marshall Smith, Bobby Pinter, Wayne George, and Wendall George.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 6 to 9 p.m., at the Church on the Rock.
Funeral service will be Thursday, December 12, at 3 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Interment will be in Machpelah cemetery, Pascagoula.
