WOZENCRAFT
Nora Raines Wozencraft, 77, of Gautier, Miss., died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, in Pascagoula, Miss. She was born icon March 22, 1925, in Bothwell, Miss. She has been a resident of Gautier for the past 32 years, where she was a member of Eastern Star, Chapter 125. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Wozencraft; and one son, Charles Wozencraft.
Survivors include one son, Michael Wozencraft, Richland, Wash.; two brothers, Floyd Raines (Helen), Hurley, Miss., and Norman Raines (Louise), Escatawpa, Miss.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, in Pascagoula.
Graveside service will be Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m., at Crestlawn cemetery in Ocean Springs, Miss.

BAINS
James H. "Jim" Bains, 72, of Gautier, Miss., died in Mobile, Ala., Feb. 8, 2003.
He was born icon July 26, 1930, in Providence, R.I. and has been a resident of Gautier for the past 40 years. He graduated in 1949 from Columbia High School in Maplewood, N.J., and attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa., in 1949-50. Mr. Bains enlisted in United States Air Force in 1950-1954, as a member of the Strategic Air Command during the Korean War.
He was the manager of the Jackson County Airport. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gautier, Air Force Association, and a life-time member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Deputy Sheriff with Jackson County Sheriff's Department. In 1987, he graduated from Scotti School of Defensive Driving, and graduated from Executive Protection Institute as a personal protection specialist. Mr. Bains obtained the certificate of training for completion of Hostage Negotiations Seminar by the North Mountain Pains Training Center and Richard W. Kobetz & Associates in 1987. He was a volunteer with Jackson County Youth Shelter, who along with his wife, Clio, assisted many children in need of weekend outings and lodging.
Mr. Bains was also instrumental in helping to implement programs that rewarded the youth for good behavior while staying at the shelter. He was an accomplished marksman and artist whose love of oil painting consisted of historically correct paintings of America's Cup J Boats, and the United States war planes of the Korean War, as well as W.W. II. Mr. Bains was an avid motorcyclist who, along with his wife Clio, had biked through places such as the Great Smoky Mountains, U.S. Rockies, Appalachian Trail, Canada, as well as a great deal of the United States. The couple enjoyed their traveling in their RV along with their many friends they met along their way.
Bains was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend who could always be found lending a hand, offering advice, discussing politics and his love for the United States, but most of all you could always count on him to make you smile.
He is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ramsay Bains.
He is survived by wife, Clio Ramsay, Gautier, Miss.; two sons and one daughter, James H. "Jimmy" Bains, IV (Rene), Gautier, Peter D. Bains (Valerie), Ramsay Springs, Miss., Emma C. Bains, Gautier; one brother and two sisters, Charles Harkins, Barrington, R.I., Shiela A. Tobin (Don), Mesa, Ariz., and Donna Field (Joseph), Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one grand dog.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, from 6-9 p.m., at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Gautier with the Rev. Ron Stanley and the Rev. M.L. McCormick officiating.
Interment will be at Ramsay cemetery, Vancleave, Miss., with military honors.

HEARN
Marylyn Jeanne Hearn, a resident of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Monday, February 10, 2003, in Ocean Springs, at the age of 79.
Mrs. Hearn was a native of South Carolina and a longtime resident of the Miss. Gulf Coast. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and was active in the Gulf Coast Bridge Association. She was of the Methodist faith.
Her husband, Herman William Hearn and her father, Lantie Sentell and mother, Bessie Rogers Hannon, preceded Marylyn in death. Survivors include a son, William Lantie Hearn and his wife, Sylvia of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Jeanina Elisse Bartusiak and her husband, Terence of Ocean Springs; and five grandchildren, Richard Patrick Hearn, Suzanne Michelle Hearn, Nathaniel Gene Bartusiak, Jonathan Daniel Bartusiak and Joseph William Bartusiak, survive her.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Riemann Funeral Home, 1718 25th Avenue, Gulfport, from 6 to 7 p.m. Graveside service will be Wednesday, February 12, at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens in Montgomery, Ala. The family prefers memorial contributions to ones favorite charity.

ROGERS
Rudolph Vincent "R.V." Rogers, 83, of Moss Point, died February 9, 2003, in Moss Point, Miss. He was born icon July 30, 1919 in Escatawpa, Miss. After graduating from Moss Point High School in 1938, he moved to Mobile, Ala. where he worked with his brother at Bay City Construction Co. and McPhillips Manufacturing. He moved back to Moss Point in 1962.
Mr. Rogers retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 32 years of employment in the Coast Engineering Department. He was a lifelong member and former priest of the Community of Christ Church in Escatawpa, Miss. He was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James L. and Effie Williams Rogers; and brother Brewton Greene Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Prescott Rogers, of Moss Point, Miss.; two daughters, Angelyn E. Daugherty (Charles) of Moss Point, Miss., and Paula Renee Hill of Hurley, Miss.; a son, Burgess Gaylan Rogers of Moss Point, Miss.; one sister, Louise Wyatt of Silsbee, Texas; eight grandchildren: Charles E. Daugherty (Keitha), Lucedale, Miss.; Major Robin L. Daugherty (Laura), Navarre, Fla., Regina Williamson (Chris), Pascagoula, Miss.; Amber Johnson (Adam), Wade, Miss.; Celeste Stringer, Hurley, Miss.; Rebecca Hill, Hurley, Miss.; Jamie Rogers, Gautier, Miss.; and Cassie Rogers, Gautier, Miss.; seven great-grandchildren: Lance Daugherty and Emily Daugherty of Lucedale, Miss., Taylor Daugherty of Navarre, Fla., Drew Williamson of Pascagoula, Miss., Kaylee Johnson of Wade, Miss., Devon Rogers of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Trey Rogers of Gautier, Miss.. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2003 from 6 until 9 p.m. at Holder Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Escatawpa Community of Christ Church with the Elders Donald Hamm and John E. Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in the Escatawpa Community of Christ cemetery.

COCHRAN
Dorothy Louise Bolen Cochran, a native of Mobile and a resident of Vancleave died at the family residence Saturday, February 8, 2003. She was previously employed at Ingall's Shipbuilding as a machinist for 15 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 49, Mobile, and a member of The Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James McWain Cochran; her mother, Viola Glendine Logan Bolen; her father, John Leslie Bolen; two sisters, Joyce Bolen Borden Jerigan and Olean Bolen. She is survived by five daughters, Sally (Jorge Loper) Cochran, Sandra (Tinker) Steed, Jessie Cochran, Patricia (Sonlock) Buckley and Dianna (Sonny) Kuns; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn (Billy) White; two brothers, Joseph "Buddy" Bolen and James Leslie Bolen; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. with funeral services following at 12 noon from the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Interment will be in Palestine Baptist Church cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Elaine McRae, RN, and the staff at the Hospice of Light in Gautier, Miss.

Charlton
Norma Charlton, 76, of Gautier died Friday, February 7, 2003. She was born icon July 1, 1926 in Boston, Mass. and has been a resident of Gautier for 47 years. She was a former employee of Drive-In-Cleaners on Telephone Road in Pascagoula. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier.
Mrs. Charlton was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Harold R. Charlton, Sr.; sister, Elaine Krasnick; two brothers, Richard Rose and Christopher Rose.
She is survived by four daughters and one son, Marsha Roberts (Curtis), Forest Park, Ga.; Jacqueline Williams (Bill), Gautier; Renee Sasser (Matthew), Conyers, Ga.; Theresa Rivas (Benjamin), San Antonio, Tx.; Harold R. Carlton, Jr., Gautier; sister, Marie Abitabile, Halladale, Fla.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Patrick Hayes officiating. Interment will be at Crestlawn cemetery in Ocean Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gautier.

MILLER
David Miller Jr, 54, of Cumbest Bluff died February 8, 2003 in Jackson County. He was coroner for Jackson County for 12 years and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Miller lived in Jackson County most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents David Sr and Evelyn Miller. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Jason Hembree of Irvington, Ala.; a son, David Brandon Miller of Moss Point; three brothers, Donald (Opal) Miller of Enterprise, Ala, Kenneth Wade of Moss Point, and James (Kay) Tindle, also of Moss Point; two sisters, Delene (John) Davis of Foley, Ala. and Linda (Tommy) Eldridge of Moss Point; stepmother Patricia Miller of Moss Point; five grandchildren, Tyler Ray Sharma, Shaina Hembree, Tiffany Hembree, Tyler Hembree, Matthew Hembree, all of Irvington; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on today at Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with burial following at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.

Davis
John Boyd Davis, a native of Fulton, Miss., and a longtime resident of Grand Bay, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 at a local nursing home.
Mr. Davis was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church in Grand bay, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a pipefitter at International Paper Co. in Moss Point, from where he retired after 33 years if service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Dora Brinkman Davis, his parents, Dew Boyd Davis and Delphia Moore Davis and Bill Davis; one sister Faye Wallace Merchant, and one grandchild John Louis Davis.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 30 years Margaret Haney Davis of Grand bay; two sons James E. (Imelda) Davis of Grand bay and Earnest B. (Charlotte) Davis of Mobile; two daughters, Anna Carol (Clarence) "Junior" Bosarge and Brenda (Gerald) Poirourx, both of Grand bay; two stepsons, Larry Haney of Grand bay and Robert C. Haney Jr. of Madison, MS; one brother, Ralph Moore (Peggy) Davis of Moss Point, MS; three sisters, Dorothy Cagle of Tupelo, Sue Walton (Prentiss) Jackson of Mantachie and Mae Nell Waddle of Fulton; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 4 p.m. until. Interment will take place in the Grand bay cemetery.

MURRAY
Edward James "E.J." Murray, Jr., 87, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Pascagoula. He was born icon March 17, 1915, in Pascagoula, and has been a lifelong resident. In 1978, he retired as a Q. A. Supervisor after 32 years at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula. He was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula and Elks Lodge #1120 in Pascagoula. Mr. Murray was also a member of Knights of Columbus #1605 in Pascagoula for 59 years and was a Fourth degree.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Verna Lee McLeod Murray; son, Richard Murray; parents, Edward J. Murray, Sr., and Eugenie Krebs Murray; two sisters, Virgie Garatie, Eugenie "Sis" Murray Cooper; two brothers, Francis Murray and Ivan Murray.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann Hoag (Jerry) of Pascagoula, Barbara Illanne (Robert) of Gautier; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Murray, (Iris) of Pascagoula, Don Allen Murray (Len) of Pascagoula; 14 grandchildren, Robert Hoag (Shellie), Pat Hoag, Billy Smith (Tracy), Christopher Murray (Laura), Stacey Smith (Clare), Kelley Tucker (David), Brandi Spandlin (Jay), Lauren Murray, Jonathan Long, Elizabeth Long, Richard Murray, Griffin Murray, Ryan Illanne and Alyssa Illanne; and 14 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, Feb. 10, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, Pascagoula, with Father Gerard Cleary officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Nelson Duckworth. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Dye.
Interment will be in Machpelah cemetery, Pascagoula, Miss.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to O.L.V.'s building fund or St. Vincent De Paul Society.
