WILBURN
Choycie Ruth Dean Wilburn, 90, died March 18, 2003, at River Chase Village Nursing Home in Gautier, Miss. born
April 2, 1912, in the Movella Community of George County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Agricola Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mally Wilburn and an infant son, Levis Wilburn; two brothers, Floyd Dean and J. D. Dean; nephew, Roscoe Dean, all of Movella; and a sister, Ina Mae (Jim) Brown, Agricola.
Survivors are one daughter, Charlotte (Curt) Miller of Gautier; one grandson, Keith (Angela) Miller of Memphis, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Kelly Miller of Mobile, Ala.; one great granddaughter, Anna Norris, Memphis, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Mildred Dean of Movella; niece, Nora (Dean) Mart of Montana; and nephew, Alan (Pam) Dean of Ohio.
Survivors also include special and devoted nieces, Angela Dean of Pascagoula, Waudine (L.V.) Nelson and Ruth (Harold) Mothershed of Escatawpa, Beth (Roscoe) Dean of Movella; and a special nephew, Ray Dean of Movella.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 20, at the Agricola Baptist Church and interment at the Agricola cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Havard, Craig Nelson, Lance Ganey, and Eric Purvis. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Dean and Harold Mothershed.

BRYAN
Alice Gwen Bryan, 54, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at her home in Pascagoula.
Mrs. Bryan was born
January 8, 1949, in Mobile, Ala. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola (Lady) Stanley; granddaughter, Sierra Cole; her sister, Susie Caskey; and three step-brothers, Dale, Jimmy and Wally Stanley.
Survivors include her husband, Glen R. Bryan, Pascagoula; four daughters, Angel (Eddie) Cole, Matthison, Miss., Pamela (Elton) Osbourn, Carol (Larry) Spradling, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Timberly (Mike) Canfield, Springhill, Fla.; two sons, Lonny Paul McQurter, Jr., Houston, Texas, Tracy Dale (Alisha) Morris, Lucedale, Miss.; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Caskey, Irvington, Ala.; one brother, Jess (Lenette) Caskey, Theodore, Ala.; two sisters, Charlotte (Cecil) Lowery, Citronelle, Ala., and Donna (W.L.) Swan, Irvington, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous adopted children and grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

SMITH
Charles Nicholas (Nick) Smith, 23 of Escatawpa, Miss., died March 15, 2003 in Vancleave, Miss. He was born
October 5, 1979 in Pascagoula. Nick was a graduate of Moss Point High School and a student at Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moss Point. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenn and Erma Ramsey.
Survivors include his parents, Charles R. and Nancy Smith of Escatawpa; sisters, Tracy Smith of Brandon and Nicole Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; grandparents, Charles R. and Violet Smith of Powhatan, Virginia; uncle and aunt, Issac and Freda Ramsey of Huntington, West Virginia; aunt, Debbie Ramsey of Huntington, West Virginia, a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point with Rev. Charles Davis officiating.

SMITH
Richard Brinson Smith, 57, died March 13, 2003 at Mobile Infirmary, Mobile, Ala. Mr. Smith was a native of Lucedale, Miss., a resident of Lucedale, Miss., a school teacher and coach for 24 years at the George County High School, and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Smith, Lucedale, Miss.; daughter, Brandy Smith Persons (James Russell), Lucedale, Miss.; two grandchildren, Claire and Anna Persons, Lucedale, Miss.; three brothers, Larry Smith, Dallas, Ga., Jerry Smith, Laurel, Miss., and Gary Hinton, Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Fran Hutchinson, Laurel, Miss., and Bertha Scanlon, Lawrenceville, Ga.
Funeral services were held March 15, 2003 at 10 a.m. from Sigler Funeral Home Chapel, where the Rev. Jerry Havard conducted the funeral service.
Interment followed in the Magnolia cemetery, Lucedale, Miss.
Pallbearers were Willie Evans, Jerry Havard, Jr., Elton Henderson, Donnie Howell, William Reid, Curtis Prescott, Rod Sumrall, Louis Valentine and Bill Welford.

CRY
Sister Beatrice Cry was born
in Hillsboro (now Forest), Miss., to the late Charlie Boyd and Elnora (Washington) Boyd Dec. 27, 1918. She accepted the Lord early in her life and became a member of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Lena, Miss., and there she was a member of the choir. After coming to Pascagoula about 55 years ago, she united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church (now The Greater Antioch M.B. Church), the second Sunday of February in 1945, under the auspices of Rev. E. D. Burns. As a young woman she worked in the Young Women Auxiliary and also as a Sunday school secretary. As the years passed she became church secretary for several years. Under the leadership of Dr. John W. Davis Sr., she was a member of the Mission Ministry, a Sunday school teacher, honorary choir member, an announcing clerk and a pastor aid supporter. In addition to all of her endearing qualities Sister Cry was rated as one of the foremost primitive artist in the South Mississippi area. Her works have hung in public buildings and received many accolades from those who were moved in a positive way by her spiritual interpretations of ordinary places and things on canvas. Sister Cry was also a school teacher and retired seamstress for Josette's. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor who gave unselfishly of her love and time. Sister Cry enjoyed life to the fullest. Sister Cry was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Boyd and Elnora Washington Boyd; brother, W. C. Boyd; husband, Willie Cry; son, Rayford (Salt) Lewis Salters.
She leaves to cherish many memories one daughter, Maye Helen (Rev. Larry) McCollough of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Rosie Mae Luckett of Milwaukee, Wis.; three grandchildren, Vanessa (Wendell) Casher of Moss Point, Jeffery Stanley of Columbus, Ohio, Reginald Salters of Moss Point; great granddaughter, Lashella Ciera Cater of Columbus, Ohio; great grandson, Jaquan Maurice Salters of Moss Point; adopted daughter, Virgie (Dr. John W.) Davis, Sr., of Gautier, Miss.; two adopted granddaughters, Myrtis (Marcus) Pittman and Claudia (Billy Ray) Hamilton; goddaughter, Pearline (Calvester) Ward of Moss Point; two dedicated care givers, Valarie Ratcliff of Moss Point and Argie (Willie) Sims of Pascagoula; ten nieces and nephews of Milwaukee, Wis.; her Sunday school class students #5; several relatives and friends.
Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. The home going celebration will begin at 11 a.m. promptly. In lieu of flowers please make acts of love to The Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

RANKIN
Mr. Otis Godfrey Rankin, Sr., 75, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Moss Point, Miss.
Mr. Rankin was a resident of Moss Point and was very well known and loved throughout the Gulf Coast. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, an all-star basketball player while in the Army, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula after 30 years of faithful service. He graduated from Our Mother of Sorrows School and was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Pascagoula until he became terminally ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemos and Audrey E. Rankin.
Survivors include six sons, Larry Boudreaux of Detroit, Michigan, Dwight Rankins of Joliet, Ill., Bishop Otis G. Rankin Jr. of Gulfport, Rickey Rankins of Peoria, Ill., Don M. Rankin of Moss Point, and Paul Martin of Moss Point; seven daughters, Audrey Nelson of Chicago, lll., Anita Rankins of Hammond, Ind., Bettye A. Evans of Biloxi, Francis Mitchell Ware of New Orleans, La., Debra Ray of Biloxi, Ursula "Tina" Rankin Staten of D'Iberville, and Min. Dianne Rankin-Taylor of St. Martin; 34 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives including his oldest living relative, Mr. Horace Spriggs, and friends.
Mr. Rankin will lie in state from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Turner's Gulf Funeral Service, 1809 Telephone Road, Pascagoula, 228-762-2601.
Services will be at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Turner's Gulf Funeral Service.
Interment will be at 1 p.m. at the Biloxi National cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave., Biloxi.

On Thursday morning, March 13, 2003, our Heavenly Father called our beloved one home to receive his reward.
Deacon Earthey (Big Boy) Riley was born
Nov. 27, 1915, to the late Mid and Alice (Marshall) Riley in Monroe County, Ala. He was a resident of the Jackson County area for most of his adult life. Deacon Riley accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of the Baptist faith where he served as deacon of Little Rock Baptist Church until his death.
He leaves to cherish in his memory a devoted wife of 58 years, Gertrude O. Riley; one daughter, Elizabeth (Bruce) Theus of Racine, Wisc.; one son, Robert (Barbara) Riley of Moss Point, Miss.; three grandchildren, Bethlyn Riley Thigpen of Moss Point, Michael Theus of Racine, Wisc. and Gabriel (Monika) Wiley of Lake Worth, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Christian and Tyler Thigpen, all of Moss Point; a devoted goddaughter, Owena (Lewis) Bell of Moss Point; one brother, Dave (Buddy) Riley of Compton, Calif.; two sisters, Alice (Floyd) Bradley and Middie Riley Liddell of Moss Point; six sisters-in-law, Mazaree Riley and Sarah Riley of Moss Point, Mamie Riley, Annie Ruth Riley, Annie Jewel Montgomery of Chicago, Ill., and I.L. Riley of California; nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends; and a devoted caretaker, James Walker.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2003, from noon to 2 p.m. from Little Rock Baptist Church located on Gautier Street in Moss Point.
Funeral services also will be held at the church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cortez Keeton II officiating.
Interment will be at Scranton cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss.

Ja'Niya Arlene Iriyan Caruthers, infant, of Moss Point, Miss., departed this life at Singing River Hospital. She is preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Billie Biggs, and Robert Buford.
She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Alicia A. Buford; her father, Jason F. Caruthers; grand-parents, Lavelle V. Buford and Rueben C. Buford Sr., Arlene (James) Thompson; great-grand parents, Deloris J. Wright, Alberta Buford and Lillie Biggs; great-great grandmother, Eartha L. Huey; two devoted aunts, Terra Buford and Myra Buford; devoted uncles, Reuben Buford, Jr. and James Thompson; special god-parent, Claudia Matthews, and a host of special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2003, from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at Millender's Funeral Home Chapel, Moss Point.

CUNNINGHAM
Willie Bailey Cunningham, 90, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Escatawpa, Miss. born
on Feb. 19, 1913, in Escatawpa, she was a lifelong resident of the community. She was preceded in death by Jake Cunningham, her husband of 61 years; her parents, William and Mary Dora Bailey, two brothers, Willard Bailey and John Bailey, and a sister, Lottie Bailey. She was a member of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Maurice Hulber; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Roma Cunningham; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia and Edward Beckham and Bettie and Clinton George; one brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Thelma Bailey; three sisters-in-law, Louella Bailey and Lorrie Fountain, all of Escatawpa, Evelyn Cunningham of Mobile, Ala.; six grandchildren, Cynthia (Craig) Wood, Charles (Taris) Cunningham, Gail (David) Bush, Gayla (Billy) Collins, Gina (Bobby) Lambert and Philip (Holly) Hulbert, and 10 great-grandchildren, all of Escatawpa, and numerous devoted nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday, March 17, 2003, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa, Miss.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles F. Davis and the Rev. Larry White officiating.
Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetary in Pascagoula, Miss.
Pallbearers will be David Bush, Billy Collins, Charles Cunningham, Craig Wood, Bobby Lambert and Philip Hulbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
