MORELAND
Georgia E. Moreland, 86, of Hurley, Miss., born
Aug. 14, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., died Jan. 4, 2004, in Hurley. She was self- employed and retired in house cleaning service. She was a member of Pine Grove Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Naomi Fannon; husband, Martin Moreland; son, Donald Moreland; and sister, Lynna Corien Moreland.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Ann (Robert) Strickler, Hurley, Shirley Strickler, Hurley; one son and daughter-in-law, Martin (Ruth Anne) Moreland, Vichy, Mo.; three sisters, Virginia Huffman, Vichy, Mo., Erma Gude, St. Ann, Mo., Audry Housewright, Steelville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 8, 6 to 9 p.m. at Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Mo.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m., at the Vichy Campground Church of God with the Rev. Clarence Campbell and the Rev. Larry Dishman officiating.
Burial will be in Southard cemetery, St. James, Mo.

WOODARD
Marlene Jeanette Logan Woodard, 70, of Leakesville, Miss., died Jan. 4, 2004, at her residence. Mrs. Woodard was a native of Leakesville, Miss., who retired after working many years as a librarian with the Leakesville Elementary School. Mrs. Woodard was a member of the Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Geddie Woodard; two daughters, Shirley Marlene Fountain and Marie Vina Woodard; and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Logan, Sr.
Survivors include her son, Scotty Lynne Fountain of Leakesville; two daughters, Janet W. James and Joyce R. Welford, both of Leakesville; one brother, Lloyd L. Logan, Jr. of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Doris J. Presley of Bay Minette, Ala. and Glenda M. Dunkley of Clinton, Utah; five grandchildren, Clint James, Scotty Fountain, Jana James, Kelly Catlett and Olivia Welford; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Gage Fountain.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m., at Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Collins, the Rev. Ken Purcell and the Rev. H. J. Hedgepeth officiating.
Interment will be in Woodard cemetery in George County.

FRAZIER
John D. Frazier, 80, of Moss Point, Miss., died Sat., Jan. 3, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was born
Dec. 9, 1923, in Sturgis, Miss. Mr. Frazier was the retired owner of Frazier Insurance and Realty of Pascagoula. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Frazier is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen L. Frazier of Moss Point; daughter, Ann Wilcox of Jackson, Miss.; son and daughter-in-law, John D. Jr. and Lyn Frazier of Vicksburg, Miss.; sister, Francis Boeninger of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Ann Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Russell and Stacey Wilcox of Madison, Grant and Kelley Wilcox of Dallas, Texas, Stacey & Denise Wilcox of Brandon, Miss., and Meghan and Corey Fancher of Fairhope, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 5, 2004, from the New Mausoleum at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula with the Rev. Fred Britton officiating.
Entombment will follow in the New Mausoleum.

HEFFERNAN
Claudia Webb Heffernan, 73, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Sat., Jan. 4, 2004, in Ocean Springs, Miss. Mrs. Heffernan was born
Aug. 28, 1930, in Sumerall, Miss., but lived the majority of her life in Jackson County. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Heffernan; parents, William and Josie Clark Webb; son, Nash Bingham; sister, Opal Dickerson; and brother, William M. Webb.
Survivors include two sons, Shane C. Bingham of Pascagoula, Joseph G. (Rudi) Bingham of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter Donnie Sue (Terry) Ladnier of Vancleave, Miss.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and devoted grand-nephew Ross (Michelle) Eubanks of Lucedale, Miss.
Visitation will be Mon., Jan. 5, 2004, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Graveside service will be held Tues., Jan. 6, 2004, at Biloxi National cemetery with Corps Sgt. Major Bill Cribbs, Salvation Army, officiating.

THOMAS
Edward Howell Thomas, 84, a resident of Pascagoula, Miss. for the past 55 years, born
in Townley, Ala., on Nov. 9, 1919, died at his home on Sat., Jan. 3, 2004. Mr. Thomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Masonic Lodge #419, Order of Easter Start Chapter #151 and also a member of the Shrine and York Rite Bodies, a World War II veteran and was a retired structural ironworker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nesbert and Helen Thomas; one brother, Mayo Thomas; and two infant daughters, Sharon Rose Thomas and Anita Louise Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Thomas of Pascagoula; two sons, William O. "Bill" Thomas Sr. of Pascagoula and Stephen H. Thomas of Houston, Texas; one brother, John O. Thomas (Rose) of Panama City, Fla.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and valued friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Mon., Jan. 5, 2004, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tues., Jan. 6, 2004, at the funeral home followed by Masonic rites at Jackson County Memorial Park.
Interment will be in Jackson County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

WADDELL
Hiram C. Waddell, a resident of Moss Point, Miss., born
July 23, 1937, in Sylvarena, Miss., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at the age of 66. Mr. Waddell was a retired electrician from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 44 years of service. He was an ordained deacon at Griffin Street Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Joanne Moore Waddell of Moss Point; two children, Dana (David) Thomas of Pascagoula and Mark Waddell of Escatawpa; one step-daughter, Stephanie (Joseph) Hollingsworth of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren, Brittney Thomas, Kristen Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Christopher Waddell, Trevor Waddell, Amanda Hollingsworth, and Cody Hollingsworth; his brother, John (Pam) Waddell of Pascagoula; sister, Barbara Rose of Hickory, Miss.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday Jan. 3, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, from the funeral home chapel.
Pallbearers will be Wiley Falks III, John T. Waddell, Tom Rose, Clay Rose, Tim Rose, J.R. Waddell, and Bernard Suthoff.
Interment will be in Griffin cemetery.

HODGE
Charles Franklin Hodge, 78, a native of Gloucester, Va., and a resident of Pascagoula, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004. Mr. Hodge was a retired tugboat engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna James Hodge of Pascagoula; two daughters, Linda Darlene (Rick) Wilkerson of George County, and Laura (Jay) Johnson of Cartersville, Ga.; one son, Warren Keith (Margie) Hodge of Lancaster, Va.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Stevens and Betty Bristol, both of Hartsville, Va., and Louise Trosse of Crestview, Fla.; and other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, Miss. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

LEE
Virginia C. Lee, 85, of Pascagoula, Miss., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in Pascagoula, Miss.
She was born
Nov. 14, 1918 in Chattanooga, Tenn. and had been a resident of Pascagoula since 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank R. and Edith Cooke, of Chattanooga; husband, Jim Lee in 1971; son, Robert M. Crabtree, in 1991.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, C.D. and Louise Crabtree of Pascagoula; a brother and sister-in-law, John Thurman and Jodie Cook, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Todd (Millie) Crabtree, Pascagoula; Timothy Crabtree; Thomas (Donna) Crabtree; and Terry (Tarah) Crabtree, all of Gautier, Miss.; seven great-granchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National cemetery at a later date.

PAYNE
Mr. Euell Burnell Payne, 75, of Moss Point, Miss. died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Biloxi Veterans Hospital in Biloxi, Miss.
He was born
Sept. 29, 1928, in Bremen, Ga. Mr. Payne served his country in Korea and was held captive as a prisoner of war for 28 months. He was retired from Chevron after 30 years of service as a supervisor in operations. He was a member of Dantzler Memorial First United Methodist Church in Moss Point, Miss., where he served on the Board of Trustees and Administration Board. He was also a member of the Chancel choir and a charter member of the Agape Sunday School class. Mr. Payne was an active member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy C. and Velma Payne; two brothers, Lawton Payne and J.C. Payne and one sister, Delsey Payne.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 50 years, Bettie Warren Payne, Moss Point, Miss., two daughters, Terri (Michael) Catt, Albany, Ga., and Paige (Keith) Hunter, Pascagoula, Miss.; one son, Chris Payne, Douglasville, Ga.; two brothers, Clarence (Syble) Payne, Bremen, Ga., and Bobby (Mary Ellen ) Payne, Douglasville, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Payne, Bremen, Ga., eight grandchildren, Erin and Hayley Catt, Jessica and Hubbell Payne and Brittany Cosgrove, Elizabeth, Joseph and Thomas Hunter.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. from Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 11 a.m. from the Dantzler Memorial First United Methodist Church in Moss Point with Rev. Fred Britton and Dr. Michael Catt officiating.
Mr. Payne will be at the church from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Griffin cemetery in Moss Point, Miss.
