Services for Carl Smith, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Avery Chapel AME Church with burial in Carver Heights cemetery. R. E. Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from noon until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith, 51, died Feb. 2, 2010, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. He was born icon in Brookhaven on Aug. 10, 1958, to Luther Smith and Charlie Marie Edwards.
He was disabled. He was a member of Avery Chapel AME Church. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Survivors are his mother, Charlie Marie Edwards, of Brookhaven; his wife, Irma Vaughn Smith, of Brookhaven; his stepfather, Frank Edwards, of Brookhaven; his stepsons, Eric Vaughn, of Killeen, Texas, and Corey Vaughn, of Brookhaven; his stepdaughter, Lakeia Vaughn, of Wesson; his stepbrothers, Frank Edwards and Donald Edwards, both of Brookhaven, and Reginald Edwards, of Sacramento, Calif.; and two step-grandchildren.

Brunell Beeson
Graveside services for Brunell Beeson, of Brookhaven, were 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Beeson, 83, died Feb. 7, 2010, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born icon on Oct. 10, 1926, to George Bragg and Lena Moore Bragg.
She was retired, and a member of the Methodist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, JoAnn Wolfe; her brothers, Wilson Bragg, Ralph Bragg and Clayton Bragg; and her sister, Pat Lambert.
Survivors are her husband, Charles Beeson; her son, George Hemphill; her stepson, Randy Beeson; her stepdaughters, Cathy Bridge and Vicki Kelly; her brothers, James Bragg, of Tennessee, and Hoyt Bragg, of Georgia; her sister, Lillian Pollard, of Tennessee; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Vertie Tedford Brown
(February 25, 1921 - January 5, 2011)
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Vertie Tedford Brown of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, at Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Dr. Jerry Mixon will officiate the services.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the home of Wayne and LaNelle Tollison, 1201 Grand Boulevard, Greenwood, Mississippi.
Mrs. Brown died of heart failure at Riverview Nursing and Rehab in Greenwood on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Claude and Cora Card Tedford, and the widow of the late Guy Brown. She co-owned and operated Brown's Jewelry Store in Winona and Lynbar Jewelers in Greenwood for over fifty years before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
Survivors include two daughters, LaNelle Tollison and her husband, Wayne, of Greenwood and Marietta Branch and her husband, Mike, of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Anna Makamson of Greenwood, Tyler Branch of Greenwood, Lee Tollison of Atlanta, GA, and Marianna Tollison of Greenwood; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Brown, Lee Tollison, Tyler Branch, Barry Makamson, Curtis Turner, and Randy Turner.

Billie Maude Frazier
Services for Billie Maude Dickerson Frazier, of Saucier, are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Union Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Elders Wayne Myers, Randy Myers and Mickey Myers will officiate. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Mrs. Frazier, 79, died Feb. 7, 2010, at Home Away From Home in Saucier. She was born icon in Jayess on July 3, 1930, to Guy Clifton and Aza Lee Boyd Frazier.
She was a homemaker and a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Gulfport.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herman Alex Frazier; a great-grandson, Cooper Rhys Frazier; and her brothers, Donald Dickerson and Tommy Dickerson.
Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Joe and Jo Ellen Frazier, of Saucier, and Mack and Hilda Frazier, of Jayess; her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Burnis Breland, of Columbus, Ga.; her sisters, Martha Caston, of Smithdale, and Patsy Wilkinson, of Greenwell Springs, La.; her brothers, Louis J. Dickerson, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Clifton Dickerson, of Jayess; her grandchildren, Aaron and Adam Frazier, Daniel Breland and wife Carla, Joseph Breland, Rebecca Fincher and husband Paul, Jason Frazier and wife Kristi, and Alana Johnston and husband Brian; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Union Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, 6042 Hwy. 44 NE, Jayess, MS 39641.

Aleen Cothern Keen
(July 29, 1909 - June 11, 2011)
Aleen Cothern Keen, 101, of Hammond, LA and formerly of Enon, died June 11, 2011 at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond, LA. She was born icon July 29, 1909 in Enon, MS. She was the daughter of John W. “Johnny” and Ava Boyd Cothern. She was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy William Keene; one granddaughter, Vicki McCullough; one great-granddaughter, Tara Coffey; two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Annie Jo McCullough of the Carter’s Creek community; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Pearl and Reggie Day of McComb, Golda Draper of Hammond, LA, Ethel Lee Dempsey of Poplar Bluff, MO and Lawanda & Richard Oglesby of Aledo, TX; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb from 6PM until 8PM and Tuesday from 9AM until services at 10AM with Rev. Leon Dunn and Rev. Justin Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Enon cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Carl Z. Dyess
Services for Carl Z. Dyess, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Union Hall Baptist Church in Brookhaven, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home on Natchez Drive, and on Wednesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Mr. Dyess, 67, died Jan. 31, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born icon in Jefferson Davis County on March 19, 1942, to Wiley Thomas Dyess and Ida Lee Reid Dyess.
He was a retired engineer with South Central Bell, with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Brookhaven Exchange Club, and Masonic Lodge No. 241, where he was secretary and past president. He was a member of Union Hall Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Dewey, Delton, R.J., Austin and Leroy Dyess.
Survivors are his wife, Gwen Cameron Dyess, of Brookhaven; his son, Jerome Dyess and wife, Shirley, of Brookhaven; his daughter Darla Buford, and husband Hubert, of Brookhaven; his sister, Lillian Ratcliff, of Carson; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Cleveland and Edna Dyess, of Crystal Springs, and Olin and Bernice Dyess, of Carson; and his grandchildren, Hunter and Cameron Buford, and Sawyer and Lane Dyess.

Margaret Alice Ott Colee
Margaret Alice Ott Colee (Sal), 96, went to be with her Lord on Feb. 3, 2010, at her home on "The Hill."
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 5, from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Ott family residence at 494 Prentiss St., in Osyka and will continue on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, from 10 a.m. until services there at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Osyka cemetery; the Rev. Jay Alvaro will officiate.
Mrs. Colee was born icon March 14, 1913, in Osyka. She was the daughter of F. Ross Ott and Mattie Edwina Ott. She was a member of the Osyka Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Colee was married icon to Weddon Evans, who died at a young age. She later married icon Dr. O.L. Colee, a dentist, with whom she worked in Magnolia, and later at their office, which was built next to her family home. Mrs. Colee, affectionately known to her family as "Sal, " will always be loved and remembered for opening her home to family and friends. Her family stated, "The Hill was a haven for all of us, her sweet smile and encouraging words will be with us forever." Isaiah 30:15 (King James Version) "For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength."
Mrs. Colee was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Weddon Evans; her second husband, Dr. O.L. Colee; her sister Lillian O. Armstrong; and two brothers, John Edward Ott and Frank Ross Ott Jr.
Mrs. Colee is survived by two nephews; John E. Ott Jr., of Davis, Calif., and John Vail Ott, of Osyka; three nieces; Dinah Ott Sims, of Baton Rouge, La., Sally Ott Lampton, of Brookhaven, and Gina Ott Alvaro, of Ashville, N.C.; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Sandy Sims Sr., Sandy Sims Jr., John Jay Alvaro, Jay Alvaro, Christopher Alvaro, Dudley Lampton Sr., Dudley Lampton Jr. and Wesley Daniel Ott.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Osyka Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 298, Osyka, MS 39657.

Bertha Coker Stoker
(June 29, 1943 - July 4, 2008)
Funeral services for Bertha Coker Stoker of Stewart are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, at Milligan Springs Baptist Church near Stewart, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the services. Visitation is Sunday, July 6, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stoker died of cancer at her residence on Friday, July 4. She was 65 years old.
Mrs. Stoker was the daughter of the late William H. Coker and the late Sally Martin Coker. She was a disabled waitress.
Survivors include one daughter, Nola J. Stoker of Stewart; three sons, Robbie R. Stoker of Stewart, Ted O. Stoker of Stewart, and Brady P. Stoker of Stewart; sister, Darlene Collins; three brothers, Art Coker of Whitewright, Texas, Paul Coker of Normangee, Texas, and J. B. Coker of Normangee, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers are Donnie Bridges, Johnny Pepper, J. D. Beam, Chad Tedder, Darrell Donahoo, and Paul Orr.

Reginald Marvin ‘Reg" Falvey
Services for Reginald Marvin "Reg" Falvey, of Brookhaven, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Fair River Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Falvey, 47, died Feb. 2, 2010, at his residence. He was born icon on July 30, 1962, to Marvin L. Falvey and Frances Mullen Falvey.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Grady and Florence Mullen; and his paternal grandparents, Tom and Ada Falvey.
Survivors are his father, Marvin L. Falvey; his mother, Frances Mullen Falvey; his maternal aunts and uncles, Melinda and Bill Scott, and Bill K. and Jean Mullen; his paternal aunts and uncle, Vicki Douchard, and Douglas and Nancy Falvey; and his maternal great-aunts, Catherine Day and Ida Mae Lofton.

Martha Gayle Kirkland Reid
Services for Martha Gayle Kirkland Reid, of Monticello, are 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Forrest Grove Methodist Church cemetery in Monticello.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Reid, 50, died Feb. 2, 2010, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born icon on Sept. 2, 1959, to James Curtis Kirkland and Bennie Lee Lambert Kirkland.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Forrest Grove Methodist Protestant Church in Monticello.
Her father preceded her in death.
Survivors are her mother, Bennie Lee Lambert Kirkland; her son, Donald Wayne Reid II, of Brookhaven; her daughters, Nakita Naquin and Cali Sheree Spence, both of Monticello; and her brothers, Curtis Kirkland and Tommy Glenn Kirkland, both of Monticello.

Shirley Marie McClerkin
A memorial service for Shirley Marie McClerkin, 68, of Vidalia, La., will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Vidalia United Methodist Church. Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday is in charge of services.
Ms. McClerkin died Feb. 3, 2010, at her residence in Vidalia. She was born icon on Oct. 24, 1941, in Lake Village, Ark.
Ms. McClerkin was a member of Vidalia United Methodist church, where she served the Lord in song and as a choir member. She retired from International Paper, but was currently employed by the Adams County Juvenile Justice Department working with the Family First program. She was also known for her singing in the Mississippi Medicine Show.
Preceding her in death were her father, J.T. McClerkin; her mother, Belle McClerkin Starr; and two brothers, John Hamilton McClerk and Nevins Eugene McClerkin.
Survivors include a brother, Cliff Starr of Vidalia; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives.
