James Morris Biggers, Sr.
(April 16, 1930 - January 21, 2009)
Funeral services for Mr. James Morris Biggers, Sr., of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. T. R. Darsey, assisted by Rev. John L. Walker will officiate the services. Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.
Mr. Biggers died of heart failure on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Biggers was the son of the late James Oscar Biggers and Willie Eloise Duke Biggers. He was disabled and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He attended First Baptist Church in Winona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the late Vallie Pearl Brister Biggers.
Survivors include three sons, James Morris Biggers, Jr., of Winona, David Biggers of Greenwood, and Tommy Biggers of Holcomb; one sister, Margie Oliver of Winona; and six grandchildren, Matthew Biggers of Brandon, Reid Biggers of Flowood, Jared Biggers of Holcomb, Sarah Biggers of Greenwood, Sydney Biggers of Holcomb, and Justin Biggers of Greenwood.
Pallbearers are Jim Oliver, William "Dickie" Biggers, Karl Oliver, Mike Oliver, Ricky Greenlee, and Larry Bloom.

Bennie Joe Youngblood
(October 26, 1955 - October 1, 2008)
Funeral services for Bennie Joe Youngblood of French Camp will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, at Covenant Baptist Church near French Camp, with interment following in the church cemetery. Bro. Jonah Horn and Bro. Horton Sanders will officiate the services. Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Covenant Baptist Church.
Mr. Youngblood died of heart failure on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was 52 years old.
Mr. Youngblood was the son of the late Homer Arcenia Youngblood and the late Lucy Jane Pullen Youngblood. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Dossy Steed of Vicksburg and Ila Keith of Florence; four nieces and one nephew.
Pallbearers will be Trent Costilow, Larry Jefcoat, Byron Holmes, Ralph Leonard, Burt Ray, and David Costilow. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Cook, Jerry Crowder, Claudie King, and Rusty Riddell.

Florene McKee Currie Reese
Graveside services for Florene McKee Currie Reese will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at Sweetwater Methodist Church cemetery conducted by the Rev. Gary Harper.
Visitation is also Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service. Graveside services will immediately follow.
Mrs. Reese, a longtime resident of Gulfport, who returned to her childhood home of Brookhaven after retirement, passed away in Baton Rouge, La., on Feb. 3, 2010, at age 84.
Preceding her in death were her husbands James "Jim" Reese and the father of her children, and David Currie; her parents; and three brothers, John B., Howard and Walter McKee.
She is survived by her children, Glenn and Randall Currie, Jill Currie Bohn and Gregory and Garth Currie; her stepchildren, Mike Reese, Suzanne Keel, Robin Berry, Margaret Goodwin and Mark Reese; her grandchildren, Sky and Wright Currie, Elliot Currie, Currie Mullins and Mallory Bohn, and John and Andy Currie; her stepgrandchildren, Dixie Marino, Crystal and Jennifer Keel, Jackie Eaton, Amanda Bailey, Miles Goodwin and Savannah and Megan Reese; a great-granddaughter, Reese Mullins; and 10 step great-grandchildren.

Shirley Marie McClerkin
A memorial service for Shirley Marie McClerkin, 68, of Vidalia, La., will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Vidalia United Methodist Church. Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday is in charge of services.
Ms. McClerkin died Feb. 3, 2010, at her residence in Vidalia. She was born icon on Oct. 24, 1941, in Lake Village, Ark.
Ms. McClerkin was a member of Vidalia United Methodist church, where she served the Lord in song and as a choir member. She retired from International Paper, but was currently employed by the Adams County Juvenile Justice Department working with the Family First program. She was also known for her singing in the Mississippi Medicine Show.
Preceding her in death were her father, J.T. McClerkin; her mother, Belle McClerkin Starr; and two brothers, John Hamilton McClerk and Nevins Eugene McClerkin.
Survivors include a brother, Cliff Starr of Vidalia; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives.

Willie Lee Pruett
(July 2, 1925 - November 10, 2015)
Mrs. Willie Lee Pruett, 90, of Vaiden passed away at her residence on Tuesday, November 10. She was born icon in Swan Lake on July 2, 1925, to the late Otis and Minnie Watts Stacy. She was a retired waitress and a member of the Pentecostal faith. Mrs. Pruett enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and fishing, and looked forward to church services on TV.
Mrs. Pruett is survived by four daughters, Virginia Devine of Durant, Donna Presnell of Vaiden, Jimmie Pruett Stuckey of Sacramento, CA, and Sue Hightower of Vaiden; one son, William "Bill" Pruett of Vaiden; one sister, Louise Bailey of Gulfport; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pruett was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Pruett; three sons, Jimmy Pruett, Larry Pruett, and Johnny Pruett; and a sister, Emma Matter.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Vaiden cemetery in Vaiden. Rev. Sam Riddell will officiate the services. Visitation will be Friday, November 13, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Bailey, James Burks, Barry Burks, Paul Pruett, Ben Presnell, and Wayne Tate.

Joey Dion Smith
Services for Joey Dion Smith, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drive, with burial in Mt. Zion Church of Christ cemetery in Brookhaven.
Visitation is Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith, 30, died Feb. 16, 2010, in Fernwood. He was born icon in Pike County on Sept. 26, 1979.
He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School. He was employed with Georgia Gulf in Gallman. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his grandmother, Myrtis Redd Laird; and his grandfathers, Grover C. Smith and Lennox Dillon.
Survivors are his father, Carroll Lester Smith, of Brookhaven; his mother, Margaret Dillon Reardon, and her husband James, of Smithdale; his brother, Chris "Elvis" Smith, of Brookhaven; his grandmother, Lee Williams, of Brookhaven; and a host of cousins and friends.

Annalee Joyce White Allen
Services for Annalee Joyce White Allen, of Sontag, are 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on North Jackson Street, with burial in the New Hope Methodist Church cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 4 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen, 77, died Feb. 17, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson. She was born icon in Lincoln County on Jan. 25, 1933, to David Littleton White and Mary Elizabeth Price White.
She was a homemaker and worked at Potter Company. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George Ralph Allen; her son, David Raiford Allen; her granddaughter, Wanda LeAnn Allen; her great-grandson, Mason Ray Allen; her sisters, Ava Abend and Patricia Dale Shumaker; and her brother, Walter Overton Taylor.
Survivors are her grandson, Donovan Allen, of Sontag; her granddaughters, Katie Torrez, of Natchez, and Samantha Allen, of Sontag; her great-grandchildren, Tabetha, Virginia and Rayleen Torrez; her sisters, Mary Parks, of Wesson, Carolyn Griffith, of Monticello, Elaine Smith, of Ocean Springs, and Margaret Wiley, of Jonesville, La.; and her daughter-in-law, Janet Fuller Allen, of Sontag.

Verna W. Shelton
(December 11, 1906 - February 1, 2008)
Graveside funeral services for Miss Verna W. Shelton of Ridgeland are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, at Bluff Springs cemetery in Carroll County. Rev. David Dennis will officiate.
Miss Shelton died Friday, February 1, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
She was 101.
Miss Shelton was the daughter of the late William Hugh Shelton and Minnie Lee Houston Shelton. She was a retired accountant for the Mississippi State Board of Health and a member of the Presbyterian church.
Miss Shelton is survived by her brother, Hugh Lamar Shelton of Ridgeland, two nieces, two nephews, one great-niece, and one great-nephew.

Marty William Beeson
Services for Marty William Beeson, of Brookhaven, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Beeson, 52, died March 27, 2010, at his residence. He was born icon on June 11. 1957.
He was a retired captain of Brookhaven Fire Department. He was a certified Smoke Diver; NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800; CPR certified; State Fire Academy 1001; Pump Operator certified; Amtrak Passenger Response; Railroad Safety for First Response; LP Gas Training; and Chlorine Gas Training.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his father, William Cullen Beeson; and his daughter, Misty Diane Beeson Bounds.
Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Ann Price Beeson; his mother, Annie Marie Allgood Beeson; his sons, James Patrick Beeson and Matthew Aubrey Beeson; his daughter, Katherine Denise Beeson Reynolds and husband, R.J.; his brothers, James Ray Beeson, Joe Pat Beeson, Gary Wayne Beeson and Randy Mark Beeson; his grandchildren, Grace Bounds, Hunter Bounds, Samuel Bounds, Elizabeth Bounds, Adrianna Reynolds; and his son-in-law, Lance Bounds and wife, Robin.

Shirley Ann Boatman
(October 26, 1947 - August 11, 2016)
Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ann Boatman of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in New Hope cemetery near Winona. Rev. Brad Herod will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Friday, August 12, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boatman, 68, died at Winona Manor in Winona on Thursday, August 11. She was born icon on October 26, 1947, to Guy Lee and Paire Lee Bennett Blaylock. She was a homemaker and a former employee of McGregor Manufacturing in Winona. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Mrs. Boatman was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary Helen Costilow, Rosa Lee Ramage, and Nell Steed; and two brothers, Bobby Blaylock and Ned Blaylock.
Mrs. Boatman is survived by her husband, John Robert Boatman of Winona; two sisters, Margie Shaw of Winona and Mazell Prewitt of Hollandale; two brothers, Herbert Blaylock of Winona and Robbie Blaylock of Winona; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Shaw, Paul Cummings, DeLynn Cummings, Billy Cummings, Tommy Gene Blaylock, Benny Costilow, and Mac Costilow.

Minnie Lamb Norwood
(July 4, 1922 - August 5, 2010)
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lamb Norwood of Memphis, formerly of Winona, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, at Poplar Creek cemetery in Poplar Creek, with Rev. T. R. Darsey officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 8, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.
Mrs. Norwood died on Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Poplar Point Health and Rehabilitation in Memphis. She was 88 years old.
Mrs. Norwood was the daughter of the late Benford L. Lamb and the late Esther Holmes Lamb, and the widow of the late Earl David Norwood.
She was a retired cashier for Piggly Wiggly and a Baptist. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ada Lamb Galbrith, Eva Lamb Bowers, Juanita Lamb Palmertree, and Louise Lamb Dicola; and her brothers, Lawrence Lamb, Percy Lamb, and J. M. Lamb.
Survivors include one daughter, Minnie Norwood Garrett of Henryetta, OK; two sons, Earl D. Norwood, Jr., of Ruston, LA, and Roy Lee Norwood of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, David Garrett of Oklahoma City, OK, Rebecca Garrett Smith of Henryetta, OK, Amelia Dawn Rakestraw of Henryetta, OK, Carey Norwood Hatley of Ruston, LA, Shawn Rae Smallwood of Nashville, TN, and Kelly Jo McBride of Nashville, TN; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Creek cemetery Fund, c/o Bank of Kilmichael, P. O. Box 187, Kilmichael, MS 39747.
