Chance Lane Johnson
Services for Chance Lane Johnson, of Byram, are 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Alexander Junior High School with burial in the Lloyd Family cemetery in Loyd Star. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson, 26, died April 12, 2010, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born icon in McComb on Nov. 17, 1983.
He was a 2002 graduate of Brookhaven High School, and attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Hinds Community College, and earned an Associate degree in science. He was a graduate of Virginia College as a pharmacy technician. He was the manager at the Shoe Department in Ridgeland.
Survivors are his mother, Jacqueline Bryant Johnson, of Byram; his father, Charles Eric Johnson and wife, Charlene, of Brookhaven; his twin brother, Chad Johnson and fiancée, Charwona, of Byram; his sister, Candance Johnson, of Byram; his niece, Makayla Johnson, of Byram; his maternal grandparents, Blanche Bryant and J.W. Bryant, of Brookhaven; his paternal grandmother, Betty Johnson, of Brookhaven; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Katherine Ready Mahaffey
Services for Katherine Ready Mahaffey, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel, with burial in Mt. Zion Church of Christ cemetery in Brookhaven. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mahaffey, 62, died April 30, 2010, at Silver Cross Home in Brookhaven. She was born icon on Nov. 18, 1947, to Rufus Dean "R.D." Ready and Winona Ready.
She was a lab courier for Lab Corporation in Jackson. She was a member of Bogue Chitto Assembly of God.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Fred Mahaffey; her brother, Wayne Ready; and her sister, Denise Williams.
Survivors are her son, Fred A. Mahaffey, of Brookhaven; her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Mahaffey Amic and husband Michael Thomas Amic, of Brookhaven; her sisters, Vicky Wade, of Mobile, Ala., and Sherry Ready; and her grandchildren, Monica Amic, Alisha Murray, Anthony Murray, Ryan Amic, Ashley Murray and Allison Murray.

Marie Holmes Rodgers
(September 28, 1916 - April 30, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Holmes Rodgers of Duck Hill are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Duck Hill Baptist Church in Duck Hill, with burial following in Duck Hill cemetery in Duck Hill. Rev. Chas Rowland and Bro. Keith Harris will officiate the services. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Duck Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rodgers died from complications following a stroke on Wednesday, April 30, at Grenada Living Center in Grenada. She was 91 years old.
Mrs. Rodgers was the daughter of the late Tom and Leona Sykes Holmes, and the widow of the late Vance Allen Rodgers. She was a homemaker and a member of Duck Hill Baptist Church and its Faith Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, Gary A. Rodgers of Panama City, Florida, and Thomas H. Rodgers of Duck Hill; a sister, Nancy Kirk of Duck Hill; two brothers, Gillon Holmes of Potts Camp and Charles Holmes of Duck Hill; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Taylor Rodgers, Austin Rodgers, Roger Waters, Tim Owens, and Gary Kirk Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Duck Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.

Terry Ellis
(March 8, 1945 - July 7, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Terry Ellis of Kilmichael are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, at McCurtain's Creek Baptist Church near Tomnolen, with burial following in McCurtain's Creek cemetery.
Rev. Don Smith will officiate the services. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis died on Monday, July 7, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. She was 63 years old.
Mrs. Ellis was the widow of the late Billy Lee Ellis and the daughter of the late Daniel Hester Nail and the late Eather Avonell Sledge Nail.
She was the former owner and operator of the Pine Cabin Restaurant in Kilmichael and a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Tabbatha Jefcoat and Glenn Pearson of Kilmichael and Tara Lee Hood and husband, Lloyd, of Hernando; one brother, Danny Nail, Jr., of Kilmichael; three grandchildren, Paige Jefcoat of Kilmichael, and Catherine and Olivia
Hood of Hernando; and one great-grandson, Cole Cochran of Kilmichael.

J. C. Choate
(February 6, 1932 - February 1, 2008)
Funeral services for Mr. J. C. Choate of Winona are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, at the Winona Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Officiating the services will be Wayne Barrier, L. D. Willis, Gordon Hogan, Colin McKee, Loy Mitchell, and Dennis Larson. Mr. Choate, 75, died of cancer on Friday, February 1, at his residence.
Mr. Choate was born icon in Tishomingo County to the late Jesse Franklin Choate and Hollis Estelle Carter Choate. He held a master's degree in missions from Harding Graduate School, and an honorary doctorate from Heritage Christian University in Florence, Alabama. He was a Church of Christ minister and missionary, and a member of the Winona Church of Christ.
Mr. Choate is survived by his wife, Betty Burton Choate of Winona; daughter, Sheila Gibson of Kotzebue, Alaska; sons, Steven Burton Choate of Searcy, Arkansas, and Bradley Shannon Choate of Pleasonton, California; two brothers, John Choate of Phoenix, Arizona, and Don Choate of Corinth, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; a niece, Darla Rosinski; and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Louis Rushmore, Jerry Bates, Charles Brymer, Will White, Joseph Barrier, and Jeremy Barrier.
Visitation will be Monday, February 4, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.

Jessie G. Joiner
(September 19, 1937 - March 26, 2008)
Funeral services for Mr. Jessie G. Joiner of Winona, formerly of Lexington, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, at Oliver Chapel, with burial to follow in Bethlehem Methodist Church cemetery near Winona.
Mr. Jimmie Dale Thomas will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Joiner died of heart failure on Wednesday, March 26, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 70 years old.
Mr. Joiner was the son of the late Theo Joiner and the late Reba Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Thomas; brother, James Joiner; and grandson, Jeff Thornton. He was a dispatcher for the Montgomery County EOC and the retired chief of police for Lexington, Mississippi. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Holmes County and a lifetime member of the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Joiner of Winona; daughters, Robbie Thornton of Florence, Debbie Hawkins of Florence, Gale Kent of Sturgis, and Sheila Moore of Jackson; stepdaughter, Lindsey Netherland of Kilmichael; stepsons, Shane Chester of Lexington and Joey Netherland Jr. of Lexington; sisters, Patricia Etienne of Hollandale and Mary Frances Self of Holcomb; brothers, Jerry Wayne Joiner of Holcomb, Charlie Joiner of Holcomb, and Billy Dave Walker of Greenwood; stepmother, Nell Joiner of the Teoc Community; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Methodist Church cemetery Fund, c/o William Chesteen, 404 Ridge Road, Kilmichael, MS 39747.

Rev. H. B. Vinson
(June 24, 1913 - April 30, 2008)
Funeral services for Rev. H. B. Vinson of Winona are scheduled for 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with interment following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Rufus Carpenter will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Saturday, from noon until service time, at the funeral home.
Rev. Vinson died on Wednesday, April 30, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Clinton. He was 94 years old.
Rev. Vinson was the son of the late Adam Vinson and the late Carrie Baker Vinson. He was a retired Baptist minister and a member of Hayes Creek Baptist Church near Winona. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Vinson and Darrell Vinson.
Survivors include his wife, Callie Vinson of Winona; two daughters, Sandra Shedd and husband Gary of Heidelberg and Jane Brackhahn of Memphis, Tennessee; one son, Larry Vinson and wife Marlene of Byram; two sisters, Emma Bell Vance of Oxford and Lillian Vinson of Illinois; four brothers, Cletus Harold Vinson of Oxford, Clinton Douglas Vinson of Waycross, Georgia, Adam Vance Vinson of Byhalia, and Quinton Francis Vinson of Oxford; twelve grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

George A. Hutchinson
(October 19, 1930 - July 5, 2008)
Graveside funeral services for George A. Hutchinson of Booneville are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at Coila cemetery in Coila, with military honors. Willie Plunkett will officiate the service.
Mr. Hutchinson died on Saturday, July 5, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was 77.
Mr. Hutchinson was the son of the late R. D. and Alma Wiltshire Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Mississippi State Guard, a bluegrass musician, and an avid ham radio operator. He was retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Arbie May Hutchinson, Lois Gertrude Tharp, Eva Mayford Hendershot, and Robby Lee Story.
Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Hutchinson of Booneville, Marie Riley of Sumrall, Joyce Plunkett of Tillar, Arkansas, Janice Coates of Tillar, Arkansas; one sister, Lucille Alford of Coila; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coila cemetery Fund, c/o Nell Tate, 2476 CR 60, Coila, MS 38923.

Daniel Delano "D.D." Fielder, Sr.
(October 25, 1925 - September 17, 2008)
Funeral services for Mr. Daniel Delano "D.D." Fielder, Sr., of Winona will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, at Oliver Chapel, with interment following in Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Ed McDaniel, assisted by Rev. Rusty Fair, will officiate the services. Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Fielder died at his residence from complications of a stroke on Wednesday, September 17, 2008. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Fielder was the son of the late Rufus Allen Fielder and the late Lela Mae Greenlee Fielder. He was a retired auto mechanic, auto mechanics teacher, and former chief of police for the City of Winona.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War; and a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and North Winona Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Fielder of Winona; three daughters, Ranelle Eubanks of Rison, Arkansas, Susan Coleman of Florence, and Betty Jo Lambert of Jay, Florida; one son, Danny Fielder of Winona; one sister, Chloe Fielder of Winona; one brother, Burnette Fielder of Gore Springs; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Braswell, James Alford, Walter Alford, Tim McBride, Phillip Patridge, and Paul Lambert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Winona Baptist Church, 602 Alberta Drive, Winona, MS 38967.

William Patridge "Pat" Jacks
(December 16, 1954 - August 3, 2010)
Funeral services for William Patridge "Pat" Jacks of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, at North Winona Baptist Church in Winona, with interment in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Paul Trosper and Rev. Rusty Fair will officiate the services.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Jacks died in a motor vehicle accident in Winona on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. He was 55 years old.
Mr. Jacks was the son of the late Will Tom and Iris Patridge Jacks. He was a graduate of Winona High School and attended Scotland Baptist Church in Winona. He was a truck driver for Chism Trucking and the former owner and operator of Pat's Quick Stop. He was a member of the Winona Bass Club and was the caretaker for New Liberty Baptist Church cemetery in Lodi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charline Jacks Coleman.
Survivors include four sisters, Vivian Haile of Winona, Carline Brister of Winona, Joyce Jenkins of Winona, and Corrine Johnson of Sebastapol; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Scotland Baptist Church, 474 Scotland Road, Winona, MS 38967; or to New Liberty cemetery Fund, c/o Bank of Winona, P. O. Box 231, Winona, MS 38967.
