John L. Basinger
(July 2, 1931 - August 21, 2016)
Funeral services for Mr. John L. Basinger of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, at North Winona Baptist Church in Winona, with Rev. Ken Armstrong and Rev. Ed McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the Broom cemetery near Coffeeville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Basinger, 85, died at University Medical Center in Grenada on Sunday, August 21.
He was born icon on July 2, 1931, to Rufus George and Cora Langham Basinger. He was a retired assistant inspector with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Troop G, Starkville District. Mr. Basinger was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Winona VFW, American Legion, Winona Masonic Lodge, and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member and deacon of North Winona Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John L. Basinger Jr.; his first wife, Mona Kirk Basinger; two sisters; and one brother.
Mr. Basinger is survived by his wife, Stelloise Watts Basinger of Winona; stepdaughter, Diane Holloway of Gulfport; stepson, John W. Eades of Winona; brother, Hugh Basinger of Memphis, TN; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Braswell, Troy Mitchell, Joe Farmer, Mark Austin, Glen Basinger, and Harold Cotten. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Holloway, Jason Adams, and Al Malone.

Carolyn Sue Evans
(October 9, 1947 - February 4, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Evans of French Camp are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Burial will follow in the Huntsville cemetery near French Camp. Mr. Dan Beardain, assisted by Mr. Nathan Wright, will officiate the services.
Mrs. Evans died of breast cancer at her residence near French Camp on Monday, February 4. She was 60.
Mrs. Evans was born icon in French Camp to the late Marvin Emery Jenkins and Jessie Lois Jefcoat Jenkins. She was an employee of Ivey's Mechanical in Kosciusko and a member of Huntsville Church of Christ near French Camp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, June Wills; brother, Jim Jenkins; and son-in-law, Mike Bright.
Survivors include her two daughters, Rene Blake of Austin, Texas, and Beth Bright of Ackerman; two grandchildren, Rob and Ryan Blake of Austin, Texas; two brothers, William Jenkins and wife Christine of Nesbit, and James Jenkins and wife Margaret of Collinsville; and a special friend, Jack Sykes of Duck Hill.
Pallbearers are Patrick Hopkins, Oakley Tharp, Marvis Braswell, Randy Wills, Paul Black, and Glen Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are William Jenkins, James Jenkins, Bert Wills, and Clyde Jenkins.
Visitation is Thursday, February 7, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona.

Mrs. Blanch Bailey Randle
(December 18, 1914 - March 19, 2008)
Mrs. Blanch Bailey Randle, 93, of Vaiden, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Winona Manor Nursing Home in Winona. Funeral services will be at Oliver Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, with burial following in Vaiden cemetery in Vaiden. Rev. John L. Walker and Rev. T. R. Darsey will officiate the services. Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Miss Blanch was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church where she taught preschool children in Sunday School for over 40 years. She was best known for her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls which she loved to bake and share with everyone.
Miss Blanch was preceded in death by her husband, W. L. "Shorty" Randle; infant daughter, Emily Jane Randle; parents, Absie Bailey and Elba Canon Bailey Gibson; brothers, Floyd and Milton Bailey; and sister, Louise Bailey Owens.
Survivors include one son, Larry Randle and wife Lula of Winona; three daughters, Barbara Burden and husband Richard of Madison, Priss Ferguson and husband Maurice of Winona, and Judy Autrey and husband Dale of Nashville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Don Johnson, Shane Autrey, Jared Autrey, Jon Autrey, William Vaughan, and Jason Ballard.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Keith Rushing and the staff of Winona Manor Nursing Home for their excellent care of Miss Blanch.
Memorials may be made to Vaiden Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ida B. Bond
(January 13, 1919 - February 28, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida B. Bond of Winona are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with interment following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. T. R. Darsey and Rev. Dennis Flach will officiate the services.
Mrs. Bond died on Thursday, February 28, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville. She was 89.
Mrs. Bond was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Bryan, Sr., and the widow of the late Winston Bond. She was a retired employee of the ASCS and a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.
Mrs. Bond is survived by daughter, Beverly B. Cotton of Starkville; sons, Ronald Bond of Clinton and Donald Bond of Winona; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jim Turner, Scott Hooker, Danny Drogula, and John Sullivan.
Visitation will be at Oliver Funeral Home on Saturday, March 1, from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 service time.

Miss Louise Reves
(March 7, 1919 - May 26, 2008)
Funeral services for Miss Louise Reves of Winona are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at Oliver Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Methodist Church cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. Larry Creel will officiate the services. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Miss Reves died of heart failure on Monday, May 26, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. She was 89.
Miss Reves was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Reves and the late Beulah Maude Cassidy Reves. She was a retired employee of Wyeth Laboratories in Memphis and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Blanche Embry, Charlie Thompson, and Dorothy Ruth Reves; and two brothers, Buster Reves and Henry Lee Reves.
Survivors include two sisters, Lona Mae Griffin of Winona and Mildred Elenburg of Saraland, Alabama.

David J. "Billy" Miller
(February 3, 1927 - August 23, 2008)
Funeral services for David J. "Billy" Miller of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, at Oliver Chapel, with Elder B. T. Strum and Elder Bobby Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood cemetery in Winona, with military honors. Visitation is Sunday, August 24, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Miller died of heart failure at his residence on Saturday, August 23. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Miller was the son of the late David Daniel Miller and the late Mary Gurette Devine Miller. He was a retired employee of Screw Conveyor Corporation in Winona and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Winona VFW, the American Legion, and the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Winona.
Survivors include his wife, Euna Mae Miller of Winona; one daughter, Teresa Mann and husband Milton of Winona; three sons, James Miller and wife Gloria of Horn Lake, Eddie Miller and wife Annette of Pearl, and David Miller and wife Malinda of Kilmichael; sister, Mary Smallwood of Winona; ten grandchildren; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Donahoo, DeWayne Donahoo, Jason Miller, Jerry Miller, Terry Miller, and Bobby Marshall. Mr. Miller's grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Dennis Donahoo, 43 Lower Bethlehem Road, Winona, MS 38967.

Ernestine C. "Tena" Britt
(September 20, 1930 - October 4, 2008)
Funeral services for Ernestine C. "Tena" Britt of Duck Hill will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, at Duck Hill Baptist Church in Duck Hill, with Rev. Travis Gray, assisted by Rev. Chas Rowland and Rev. Walter Lee Yeager, officiating. Burial will follow in Alva Parker cemetery at Alva.
Visitation will be Monday, October 6, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home, and from 1:30 until service time on Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Britt died of heart failure on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Britt was the daughter of the late Farris Aaron Castle and the late Katherine Lorraine Pullen Castle. She was the widow of the late William Earl "Nib" Britt. Mrs. Britt was a homemaker and a member of Duck Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by a son, Robert I. Britt, Jr.; grandson, Shane Britt; and a great-grandson, Cole Walker.
Survivors include her daughter, Teressa Bennett and her husband, Joey, of Grenada; sons, Bro. Albert Britt and his wife, Lattra, of Grenada, and Ray Britt and his wife, Lovey, of Grenada; three brothers, Buddy Castle of Clinton, Richard Castle of Eupora, and Sidney Castle of Winona; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ingram Britt, Benji Britt, Tony Nail, Jeff Nail, Will Castle, James Britt, Kenny Britt, and Kirk Clements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Duck Hill Bapist Church.

Jerry Victor Moore
(July 29, 1923 - December 4, 2008)
A private family graveside service for Mr. Jerry Victor Moore of Duck Hill will be held at Mt. Pisgah cemetery near Duck Hill, with burial immediately following. Mr. Moore died of heart failure at his residence in Duck Hill on Thursday, December 4, 2008. He was 85 years old.
Mr. Moore was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Moore, and the widower of the late Daisy Ann Moore. He was a retired employee of the Poultry Research Center at Mississippi State University and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Winona American Legion Post and attended Alva Baptist Church near Duck Hill. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Lynn Moore; and granddaughter, Shannon Brooke Mitchell.
Survivors include his daughter, Pam Mitchell, and her husband, Greg, of Duck Hill; two sons, Vic Moore of Olive Branch and Paul Moore of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, John Paul Moore of Starkville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernard Shed Blakely
(February 1, 1933 - October 27, 2010)
Funeral services for Bernard Shed Blakely of Winona, formerly of Vicksburg, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill, with burial following in the church cemetery. Bro. Charles Holden will officiate the services.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Blakely died of cancer at Winona Manor Nursing Home in Winona on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Blakely was the son of the late Fred and Annie Bennett Blakely and the widower of the late Lottie June Poe Blakely. He was a retired self-employed roofing contractor and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Vicksburg.
Survivors include four daughters, Theresa Worthy of Winona, Kathy Jane Clark of Vicksburg, Sheila Love of Vicksburg, and Rachael Hollowell of Vicksburg; one son, Gene Blakely of Stewart; two sisters, Mary Lee Flint of Holcomb and Barbara Jean Johnson of McCarley; three brothers, John Pat Blakely of Winona, Jerry Clifford Blakely of Winona, and Harold Ray Blakely of Winona; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Walter Worthy, Aaron Peacock, Adam Peacock, Alex Peacock, Anthony Blakely, and Joe Goodson.

George Edward Lane, Jr.
(August 26, 1935 - September 8, 2011)
Funeral services for George Edward Lane, Jr., of Stewart will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Burial will follow in Milligan Springs cemetery near Stewart, with military honors at graveside. Rev. Randy Williamson, assisted by Mr. Donnie Bridges, will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Sunday, from 1:00 until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Lane died of heart failure at Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada on Thursday, September 8. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Lane was the son of the late George and Lillie Lane. He was a retired sergeant major, serving 26 years with the U.S. Marine Corps and a Baptist. After his retirement, Mr. Lane returned to his homeplace in Stewart. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, watching TV, and playing with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Lane; and two brothers, Robert Lane and David Lane, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Keiko Lane of Stewart; one son, George Eddie Lane and his wife, Shirley, of Duck Hill; grandson, James Lane, Jr., and his wife, Suzy, of Philadelphia; granddaughters, Olivia Lane and Emily Lane of Duck Hill; great-grandson, Conner Lane of Philadelphia; and step-great-granddaughter, Madison Stygles of Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stewart Baptist Church, 144 Big Black Road, Stewart, MS 39767.
