HAMILTON — Margrette V. Welch, 76, died Jan. 11, 2013, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home with Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge cemetery. Visitation is today from 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Ms. Welch was born icon in Belk, Ala., to the late Amos Vice and Willie Kate Kennedy. She was a lifelong resident Monroe County. She was a retired seamstress. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Aaron Welch. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Webb and Rebecca Jones, both of Aberdeen; sons, Lester Welch of Hamilton, James and Marvin Welch, both of Aberdeen; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Crosby, Kenneth Humbers, Mike Cook, Sammy Fields, Ricky Honeycutt and Michael Pennington.

Edward Buskey
Edward Paul Buskey, 52, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Memorial services are Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 2pm at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS. Mr. Buskey was born icon August 29, 1960, in Ware, MA. He was a resident of Lowndes County for the past 30 years. Mr. Buskey worked for Sanderson Plumbing for 20 years before retiring in 2011. He was of the Baptist faith and was an outgoing person. Mr. Buskey was a former member of Columbus Masonic Lodge #5, F&AM; Karaoke and liked to fly R.C. Helicopters. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Bonn Becker. Mr. Buskey is survived by his father, Ronald Jay Buskey, Ware, MA; brother, Philip Buskey, Ware, MA; sisters, Susan Richardson, Dunn, N.C., Linda Strickling and Kathy Beasley, both of Columbus, MS and Debra Gean Ewing, Jacksonville, FL; a host of nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces and great nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Perrigin, Eric Perrigin, Mark Tippin, Wesley Ewing, Merle and Cheeseburger. Memorials may be made to the Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, P.O. Box 85, Columbus, MS 39703.

Robert Cockrell
CEDAR BLUFF — Robert Franklin Cockrell, 87, died Jan. 10, 2013, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Services were Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Lee Gordon officiating. Burial followed in Cairo cemetery. Mr. Cockrell was born icon Oct. 4, 1925, to the late Fannie Turnage and Frank Cockrell. He retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1986. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Larry Cockrell; and sisters, Catherine C. Fitzgerald, Sara C. Hardin, Mary Frances Cockrell and Ruby C. McGee. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Tisdale Cockrell of Cedar Bluff; sons, Allen C. Cockrell of Orange, Texas and Roger K. Cockrell of Falls Church, Va.; and one grandchild. Pallbearers were David Fitzgerald, Scott Harden, Lon Smith, Wally Magee, Pete O’Shea and Marvin Turnipseed. Memorials may be made to Cairo cemetery Fund, c/o Judy Chrismond, 3836 Highway 50 West, West Point, MS 39773.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Samuel Turner, 68, died Jan. 11, 2013. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus.

Christopher McGonagill
CALHOUN CITY — Christopher “Chris” Todd McGonagill, 51, died Jan. 11, 2013, at Baptist-Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services are Monday at 1 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Doler and Bro. Joe Caraway officiating. Burial will follow in Old McGonagill cemetery in Delay Community in Lafayette County. Visitation is today from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. McGonagill was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was self-employed as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father, Todd McGonagill; and sister, Jan McGonagill. He is survived by his wife, Alicia Caraway McGonagill of Calhoun City; daughters, Holley and Anna Grace McGonagill, both of Calhoun City; son, Patrick McGonagill of Buckhourn; mother, Helen McGonagill Wheeler of Ellisville; and sister, Melinda Sams of Columbus. Pallbearers will be Eddy Creekmore, Paul Harrison, Eddie Hitt III, William Hubbard Jr., Jeff Jones, Timmy Jones, Shurden Owen and Lee Vance.

Barbara Thompson
STARKVILLE — Barbara Jean “B.J.” Thompson, 46, died Jan. 7, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Century Hairston Funeral Home with Joseph Hawkins officiating. Ms. Thompson was born icon Oct. 12, 1966, to the late Samuel Thompson and Mary Dell Gaston. She was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant and a member of Peter’s Rock Temple of God in Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosa Lee Thompson; brother, Ray Thompson; and daughter, Shanecia Thompson. She is survived by her companion, David Logan; daughters, Kimberly Thompson and Melisha Thompson; sisters, Cora Jones, Betty Thompson, Jewel Thompson, Dorothy Warren, Nettie Warren, Patricia Vernon and Debra Taylor; brothers, John Amos, Dallas Amos, Robert Dorsey, Sammy Thompson, James Thompson, Johnnie Thompson and Charles Thompson; and six grandchildren.

Curtis Graham
NOXUBEE — Curtis Graham, 55, died Jan. 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at noon at New Hope UM Church with the Rev. Archie Lee Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from noon to 5 p.m. at Carter’s of Macon. Mr. Graham was born icon Dec. 11, 1957, to the late Leslie Graham Sr., and Maude Ella Moore Graham. He was employed with Goods Farm in Macon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Leanna Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Stewart Graham of Macon; son, Mark Curtis Graham of Macon; daughters, Latasha Stewart and Lekeita Stewart, both of Columbus; brothers, James Earl Graham and Willie Graham, both of Columbus, Leslie Graham Jr., of Aliceville, Ala., John Graham, Freddie Graham and Robert Graham, all of Macon; sisters, Ella Mae Graham of California, Esther Dell of Brooksville, Sarah Ellis and Mark Skinner, both of Macon; and eight grandchildren.

Woodie Mason
NOXUBEE — Woodie Mason, 55, died Jan. 4, 2013, at Noxubee General Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Faith United Ministries with the Rev. Ronald Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-5 p.m. at Carter’s of Macon. Mr. Mason was born icon Aug. 24, 1957, to Roberta Mason of Macon. He was formerly employed with Hightower Gas Station and Piggly Wiggly. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ethel Mae and Johnny Earl Mason. In addition to his mother, survivors include his sister, Lucy Mason of Macon; and brother, Elbrist Mason of Jackson. Pallbearers are Henry Lockett, Eugene Smith, Lester Hopkins, Dave Skinner, Jessie Skinner, Patrick Hopkins and Ed Ballard.

Myra Dixon
BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Myra Page Dixon, 99, died Jan. 1, 2013, at Park East Rehabilitation Facility in Beachwood, Ohio. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from noon to 5 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Chapel in Macon. Mrs. Dixon was born icon Nov. 25, 1913, to the late David and Pearl Lee Page. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Dixon; son, Leroy Dixon; and siblings, Dan Ella, Ruth, Bamabas and Deborah. Survivors include her daughters, Laura Pearl Williams, Louise Oliver, Martha Cummings and Mary White, all of Cleveland; 25 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Johnny Cummings Jr., Tramelle Allen, William Oliver Jr., Eddie Jones, William Buffington and Major Andrews.

Mary Oglesby
COLUMBUS — Mary Pauline Oglesby, 84, died March 13, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 10 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bobby Newman
COLUMBUS ­—­ Bobby “Bonk” Newman, 55, died March 6, 2013. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James E. Samuel officiating. Burial will follow in Union cemetery. Visitation is today from noon to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Newman was born icon April 1, 1957, to the late Jimmy and Mattie Newman. He was employed with Graham Roofing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Barksdale Newman. Survivors include his daughters, Tameka L. Marshall and Jennifer Barksdale; sisters, Ebbie Mason and Annie Jamison; brothers, Johnny Newman, Willie B. Newman and Jimmy Newman; and four grandchildren.

Eleonor Robinson
COLUMBUS — Eleonor Tirado Robinson, 91, died March 14, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 4 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to services.

Latonia White
COLUMBUS — Latonia Marie Thomas White, 28, died March 5, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at 15th Street Church of God in Christ with Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens. Visitation is today from noon to 6 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus. Mrs. White was born icon Sept. 14, 1984, to Sammie Thomas and Annie Sherrod Thomas. She was a member of Bible Way Progressive Church of God in Christ and was a 2003 graduate of New Hope High School. In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Jerry White of Columbus; and siblings, Jessica Thomas and Willie Sherrod, both of Columbus, Nichole Hodges of Memphis, Tenn., and Kelvin Sherrod of Houston, Texas. Pallbearers are Elliott Petty, Mitchell Bush, Glenn Thomas, Refinne Holmes, Lee Thomas and Raheem Thomas.

Cecil Riley
STARKVILLE —Cecil Arness Riley, 40, died March 1, 2013. Memorial services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peter’s Rock Church of God in Christ with Tony Dawson officiating. West Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Riley of Starkville; children, Joshua Arness Riley and Jaquisha Nicole Riley, both of Starkville; mother, Mary Jean Riley of Starkville; brothers, Johnny Lester Riley of Grand Rapids, Mich., Jarvis D. Lewis of New York, and George Lewis Taylor Jr., of Starkville; and sisters, Divian L. Gray and Tristen D. Taylor, both of Starkville.

PHEBA — Ella Mae Washington, 84, died March 5, 2013, at OCH Regional Hospital. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Pheba Church with the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-6 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel. Mrs. Washington was born icon April 12, 1928, to the late William Young and Mary Quinn Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Washington; and brother, William young Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Stacie Washington of Pheba; sister, Charlotte English of Maywood, Ill; brother, Calvin Suggs of Chicago; stepdaughter, Susie Washington of Oakland, Calif; and four grandchildren.

John Callon II
ABERDEEN — John Standrod Callon II, 25, died March 8, 2013, in Hamilton. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Aberdeen with Dudley Nash and Lucy Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Rest cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to services. Mr. Callon was born icon June 16, 1987, in Amory to John Chase Callon of Natchez and Lesa Mitchell Callon Young of Aberdeen. He attended the University of Mississippi and was a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen. In addition to his parents, survivors include his stepfather, Carsie Clark Young Jr. of Aberdeen; brothers, Ben Chase Callon of Oxford and William Pierce Callon of St. Paul, Minn. COLUMBUS — Robert L. Lowe, 77, died March 9, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Southside MB Church with Rayfield Evins Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sturdivant cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-8 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus. Mr. Lowe was born icon July 28, 1935, to the late Robert Lowe Sr. and Annie Nell Lowe. He retired as a senior supervisor from Sanderson Plumbing and was a member of Southside MB Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanette Chavez; and siblings, McArthur Brown, Phil Lowe and Stella Mae Bradley. Survivors include his wife, Janice Lowe of Columbus; children, Robert Walker and Tarrance Deloach, both of Clarksville, Tenn., Bobby Lowe of Montgomery, Ala., James Lowe of Warren, Va., Ninetta Brown of Clinton, Utah, Bennie Deloach of Ridgecrest, Calif., Christopher Deloach of Albany, N.Y., James Tyrone Betts, Tina Davis, Sharon Taylor, Diamond Lowe, Rita Gunn, Theresa Smith, Veda Deloach, Erica Green and Eric Green, all of Columbus; 30 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow at Brown Ridge cemetery in Artesia. Visitation is today from 1-6 p.m. at West Memorial Chapel. Survivors include his sons, Willie B. Brown Jr. of West Point, W.T. Brown of Artesia, Johnnie C. Brown of Crawford, Freddie Brown of Mansfield, Ohio, Jimmie Brown of Columbus, Elmer Brown, Charles Brown and Gartha Brown, all of Starkville; daughters, Olean Lane of Kankakee, Ill, Bertha Spearman, and Greenella Spencer, both of Crawford, Virginia Colvin and Catherine Thomas, both of Starkville; sister, Izola Jones of Columbus; brother, Oscar Brown of Starkville; 62 grandchildren and 136 great-grandchildren.
