Hagler, Joshua `Josh` Michael

Joshua `Josh` Michael Hagler, age 14 of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center after an eight month courageous battle with cancer.

Josh was born in Charlotte, November 9, 1986 at 1:14 pm, 15 minutes after his twin sister Diana. He had a love for acting and was a true `Thespian`. He attended Devonshire, Hickory Grove and Chantilly elementary schools. He was currently enrolled at Northwest School of the arts, a member of the 8th grade, although he was unable to attend since his diagnosis on September 25th 2000. He loved to rock climb and play paintball. He was unable to complete his Make-A-Wish scheduled for May 26th, but he had planned a paintball shopping spree.

Josh loved God and his Savior Jesus Christ and loved to attend church and Sunday School at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church where he was a confirmed member. Josh struggled to attend Sunday School May 20th to be with his Sunday School teacher and special friend Mrs. `Mully`, Patsy Hinson Mullis.

Josh had a love and concern for his health care givers. His favorite nurses are too numerous to list, but we would like to say a special thank you to Tina Hughes, Theo Sturdivant, Jennifer Walker, Jennifer Ellison, Carol Cole, Chris Fitch, and P.A. Kathy Lamm. We also want to thank the wonderful ladies from Child Life, especially, Susan Goode. You made a big difference in a life. We would also like to thank Dr. Daniel `The Man` McMahon. Josh loved to pick and banter with him. He loved to make him laugh. Josh loved to make everyone laugh. He touched so many lives in his short one. He was a true minister with his amazing spirit. He worried about Dr. McMahon being with him and away from his own family late at night more than his hurting body. He knew family was important and loved his. He was a wonderful, loving son to his parents; a playful and exasperating brother to his big brother Matt and his twin sister, Diana.

Josh had a good heart and one of his dreams was to start the homeless ministry `Room At The Inn.` at his church. He strongly felt that we should all do more for the hurting and needy of this world. He felt a loving and caring for all the kids and their families on the oncology pod at CMC and wanted to raise money to improve the rooms there.

Josh is survived by his parents Steve and Jill Burrows Hagler, his brother, Matthew, 18, his twin sister and special friend, Diana, 14, his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Barbara Hagler, maternal grandmother, Peggy Burrows. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence `Foss` Burrows. He is also survived by his special friends, his pets. Kitties, Cindy, Gracie, and Jasper and his overgrown puppy, Max.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, May 26th, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate his wonderful life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27th at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. The reverends Fred Jordan, Laurie Hale and Lynn Upchurch officiating. Josh will have his ashes spread at different places that he loved.

Memorials can be sent to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church for `Josh's Room at the Inn` or Carolinas Medical Center for the Childrens Hospital.

`Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!`
