Glenn Watesal Deal

Kannapolis, NC - Glenn Watesal Deal, 82, of 303 E. 10th Street, Kannapolis, died Sunday, October 23, 2005, at Avante at Concord.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Robert D. Howard will officiate. Interment will follow at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors conducted by the US Army.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective homes.
Born November 18, 1922, in Alexander County, Mr. Deal was a son of the late Jim Blaine Deal and Julia Harrington Deal. He retired several years ago from Cannon Mills, Plant One. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
His wife, Mary Lou Grubb Deal, preceded him in death on May 10, 1991.
Survivors include his son, James Neill Deal of the home; a sister, Lucille Bowles of Kannapolis; a brother, Elboyd Deal of Kannapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

Josie Hancock Jordan

Kannapolis, NC - The Lord called Josie Hancock Jordan, 91, of 1302 Rogers Avenue, Kannapolis, home to attend His beautiful rose garden, on Tuesday, October 25, 2005.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2005, at Shadybrook Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Davis and the Rev. Don Davis will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Born February 13, 1914, in Chesterfield County, SC, Mrs. Jordan was a daughter of the late C. W. Hancock and Susanne Tucker Hancock. She had lived in this area since 1939 and was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church. She retired several years ago from the sheet department of Cannon Mills, where she was employed for 43 years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, taking care of her family and church activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D. Blease Jordan, who died, May 13, 1983; a son, Thomas Lee Jordan; five sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances Jordan Nicholson of Kannapolis; a daughter-in-law, Ruth S. Jordan of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Patricia J. Goodnight and husband Jeff of Kannapolis, Shirley J. Beaver and husband Michael of Liberty, SC, David W. Nicholson and wife Angie, Cindy J. Barnhardt, Eddie Nicholson and wife Donna, and Leigh Ann Davis and husband Steve, all of Kannapolis; 12 great-grandchildren, Eric Goodnight, Amy B. Douglas, Brad Goodnight, Crystal Beaver, Kevin Barnhardt, Miranda Nicholson, Kristi Nicholson, Jordan Nicholson, Kaila Nicholson, Ashleigh Davis, Alison Davis and Anna Davis; and two great-great-grandchildren, Mallory Douglas and Tyler Straton.

Olivia Sox Barnes

Kannapolis, NC - Mrs. Olivia Sox Barnes, 92, a resident of Universal Healthcare in Concord and formerly of Kannapolis, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at the nursing center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sarah Weaver will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born March 9, 1913, in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Willard R. Sox and Myrtle B. Sox. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Henry Thornton Barnes, preceded her in death on February 16, 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Blevins Larson of Surf City and Linda Iacona of Amityville, Long Island, NY; a brother, Willard Sox of Burlington; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
David Earl Brown

Wilmington, NC - David Earl Brown, 62, of 6020 Carolina Beach Road, Lot 12-D, Wilmington, died Thursday, October 20, 2005, at the W. G. "Bill" Hefner Medical Center in Salisbury.
A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury. The Rev. Otis L. Snow will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted by the US Air Force.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of his son, Ed Brown, 2350 Ritchie Road, China Grove.
Born September 15, 1943, in Lumberton, he was a son of the late Edward Lee Brown and Pauline Melvin Brown. He retired in 1981 as a technical sergeant from the US Air Force, following 21 years of service. He had lived in the Wilmington area for the past 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Poston Brown; a son, Edward Taft Brown and wife, Joanna, of China Grove; a daughter, Holly Serita Brown of Kannapolis; a brother, Ronnie Lee Brown and wife, Marie, of Wilmington; a granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Brown; and two nieces, Carmen Brown of Wilmington and Amber Brown of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Jimmy Barnhill and the Rev. Ralph Adams will officiate. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery on Government Road in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence on Jackson Street in Kannapolis.
Born January 1, 1920, in Hillsville, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Redd and Sarah Goad Redd. She was a homemaker and a member of Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Her husband, James Alston Alderman, preceded her in death on December 26, 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Alderman Ramsey of Kannapolis; a son, Carl D. Alderman and wife, Betty, of Concord; one sister, Mary Ruth Graham of Washington, Penn.; two granddaughters, Carla Alderman Looney and husband, Michael, of Kannapolis and Jeanna Alderman Canter and husband, Trey, of Wilmington; and two great-grandsons, Bryson Looney and Cory Canter.

Willie Frances Shaver

Born May 29, 1925 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late William Canup and Pearlie Mae Lefler Canup. She was retired from the Towel Packaging Department of Cannon Mills and also Sam's Food Center. She was a member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Everette Shaver.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Samuel E. "Sam" Shaver; three sisters, Oleta Wright of China Grove, Garnell Thompson of Kannapolis and Johnsie Dunn of Greenville, SC; a brother, James "Jimmy" Canup of Landis; a granddaughter, Carla Lynn Furr of Kannapolis; two great-granddaughters, Autumn Furr and Madison Furr; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Central Baptist Church. The Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
Survivors in addition to his parents include the grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Cook and Mr. & Mrs. Lee Nichols, all of Kannapolis.

Greer, SC - Mrs. Ellen Frances Gordon Eppley, 81, a resident of the Roger Huntington Nursing Center in Greer and formerly of Lyman, SC, died Sunday, January 15, 2006, at the nursing center.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The Rev. Mike Roper will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
Born January 11, 1925, in Gaffney, SC, she was a daughter of the late Archie B. Gordon and Winnie Mae Teague Gordon. She was retired from Startex Mills in Startex, SC.
Her husband, James Arnold Eppley, preceded her in death in January 1974.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Lowe and husband, Jerry, of Greer, SC; a son, William Ray Eppley and wife, Lynn, of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Gene Gordon of China Grove; six grandchildren, William Ray Eppley, Jr., Christina Lynn Allen, Kelly Michelle Greene, Eric Lowe, Scott Coggins and Tammy Landis; and six great-grandchildren.
Albert Thomas Anthony

Rockwell, NC - Mr. Albert Thomas Anthony, 83, of 1140 Carter Loop Road, Rockwell, and formerly of Montana Circle, Concord, died Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Brian Center in Salisbury.
A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2006, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Jimmy Barrett will officiate.

Born September 2, 1922, in Wilkes County, he was a son of the late John Anthony and Maggie Shinault Anthony. He retired as an electrician from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills. Mr. Anthony served on the Board of Directors of the Poplar Tent Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Chatman Anthony; three daughters, Elizabeth Prevette of Pfafftown, Donna Proffit of Charlotte and April Gray of Mechanicsville, VA; a stepdaughter, Angela Aldridge of Rockwell; a stepson, Terry Rodgers of Belmont; one brother, Jim Anthony of Roaring River; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Richard Lasley Perry

Kannapolis, NC - Mr. Richard Lasley Perry, 58, of 404 Janie Street, Kannapolis, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at his home.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, May 5, 2005, at St. John's United Church of Christ. Rev. Jimmy Norred and Ms. Dal Mead will officiate. Burial will follow at the W.G. "Bill" Hefner V.A. National Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will recieve friends at the church from 10 to 11:00 am on Thursday prior to the service.
Mr. Perry was born September 18, 1946 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of George W. Perry and the late Dorothy Pearl Voss Perry. He retired in 1986 as a Master Sergeant with 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked as a National Security Agent with the Civil Service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he was also Scout Master of Troop 138.
Mr. Perry, in addition to his father, is survived by his wife, Barbara Jo Farr Perry; daughter, Regina Louise Perry of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren, Ruth Louise Goodnight, Kassandra Louise Henley, and Brandon Alexander Henley.
