KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. J. B. Woodard, 76, of 413 Russell Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with military rites conducted by the Rowan Veterans Council.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Born July 9, 1926, in Ruby, SC, he was a son of the late John Mathis Woodard and the late Bessie Mae Jordan Woodard. Mr. Woodard had lived in this area most of his life. He retired in 1991 from the Washcloth Department of Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. He later worked part-time for Barton Security. Mr. Woodard was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Maxine Brown Woodard; one daughter, Sandra Roberts and her husband, Dale, of Concord; one son, Jim Woodward of Concord; one brother, John Howard Woodard and his wife, Doris, of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Michel Stamey and her husband, Brian Stamey II, of Kannapolis, Chris Voyles and his fiancée, Kelly Ann Brown, of China Grove, Justin Allen Woodard and Matthew James Woodard, both of Goose Creek, SC; and four great-granddaughters, Tiffany Cobler, Katherine Stamey and Madeline Stamey, all of Kannapolis, and Kassidy Voyles of China Grove.

Eunice Baker Bradshaw

BIRTH DATE: December 31, 1922
DEATH DATE: November 2, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Eunice Baker Bradshaw, 79, of 212 Oakdale Avenue, Kannapolis, died Saturday, November 2, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at Living Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Landis. The Rev. Wayne Watson will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born December 31, 1922, in Ashe County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Linney McKinley Baker and the late Bertha Sarah Phillips Baker. Mrs. Bradshaw retired in 1986 from the sewing room of Cannon Mills Company.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Bradshaw, on April 15, 1995; and a sister, Ruby Baker Lynch, on May 8, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Poe and her husband, Tony C. Poe, of Kannapolis; one sister, Lois Baker Wetter of Kannapolis; two brothers, Dr. Linny M. Baker of Concord and Herbert Baker of Kannapolis; one grandson, Steve Poe.

James Franklin Eddleman

BIRTH DATE: February 1, 1917
DEATH DATE: November 2, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. James Franklin Eddleman, 85, of 1509 Carlton Avenue, Kannapolis, died Saturday, November 2, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center, following a serious illness of two weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at Center Grove Lutheran Church. The Rev. Zachariah Harris III will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born February 1, 1917, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late William Franklin Eddleman and the late Grace Idella Furr Eddleman. Mr. Eddleman retired several years ago from the Bleachery of Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. He was a farmer and formerly worked for Southern Life Insurance Company. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Hatley and her husband, Horace, Joyce Bowles and her husband, Don, all of Kannapolis; one son, Harold Eddleman and his wife, Chris, of Kannapolis; one sister, Faith Stirewalt of Kannapolis; a caregiver, Frances T. Smith of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Center Grove Lutheran Church, 1601 S. Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083.

Frances Caldwell Perry

BIRTH DATE: July 26, 1922
DEATH DATE: November 22, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Frances Caldwell Perry, 80, formerly of Pennsylvania Avenue, Kannapolis, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Larry Pittman and the Rev. John F. Perry, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of daughter, Fran Nunn, 120 Vista Drive, Davidson, NC.
Mrs. Perry was born July 26, 1922 in Mecklenburg County. She was a daughter of the late Ervin Quittman Caldwell and Mittie Jane Bumgarner Caldwell. She had lived in this area for 60 years and was a homemaker and formerly worked for Cannon Mills Company. She was a member of Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder. Her husband, John Frank Perry, Sr., preceded her in death on November 1, 1985.
Mrs. Perry is survived by a daughter, Fran Nunn and her husband, Wilkie, of Davidson; two sons, John Perry, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Rutherfordton, Michael Perry and his wife, Barbara, of Buchanan, VA; five sisters, Merle Barnette, Louise Barkley, Jennie Barkley, and Helen Gilbert, all of Huntersville, Margaret Ward of Maryland; two brothers, Tommy Caldwell of Mooresville, Roy Caldwell of Huntersville; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Royal Oaks Presbyterian Church, 703 Tennessee Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.

Lois Brookshire Watts

BIRTH DATE: October 15, 1908
DEATH DATE: November 27, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Lois Brookshire Watts, 94, of 1917 Glenwood Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tim Jernigan will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Mrs. Watts was born October 15, 1908, in Alexander County, NC. She was a daughter of the late J. O. Brookshire and Martha Belle Herman Brookshire. She retired in 1972 from the Number Six Weave Room of Cannon Mills, Plant One where she was employed for 45 years. She was a master weaver and instructed others how to weave. She had lived in this area since 1928. Mrs. Watts was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church and was a former member of First Baptist Church, North Kannapolis Baptist Church and Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She was well known for her apple pies and coffeecakes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Fred Morris Watts, on August 2, 2002; four sisters, Blanche Watts, Laura Kerley, Jenna Lee Reid and Marie Cheek; and two brothers, Ross Brookshire and Bill Brookshire.
Mrs. Watts is survived by a daughter, Shirley Marie Watts of Nashville, TN; one sister, Alma Teague of Taylorsville; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Watts of Kannapolis and Thelma Deal of Taylorsville; and many nieces and nephews.

Sarah Leo Horne Beck

BIRTH DATE: September 5, 1911
DEATH DATE: November 28, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Sarah Leo Horne Beck, 91, formerly of Turkey Road in Kannapolis, died Thursday, November 28, 2002, at Big Elm Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Greg Pierce will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 AM Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a sister, Evie Lee Jenkins, 6081 Turkey Road, Kannapolis.
Mrs. Beck was born September 5, 1911, in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Horne and late Annie Steen Horne. She retired several years ago from the sewing room of Cannon Mills Company. She was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church. Her husband, Adam Ray Beck, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Beck is survived by a sister, Evie Lee Jenkins of Kannapolis; two brothers, James Horne of High Point and Alvin Horne of Social Circle, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Damon Keith Lemly

BIRTH DATE: August 18, 1955
DEATH DATE: November 29, 2002

CONCORD, NC - Mr. Damon Keith Lemly, 47, of 249-10 Country Club Drive, Concord, a loving father, husband, brother and son, died Friday, November 29, 2002, at his residence.
A candlelight memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Trent Patterson will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born August 18, 1955, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of Hoyt Keith Lemly and Patricia Helms Lemly of Kannapolis. Mr. Lemly was formerly employed with Associates Finance in Albemarle.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Janet Gray Lemly; one daughter, Sandi Lemly of Concord; a sister, Renee Alexander of Concord; a brother, Chris Lemly of Kannapolis; and his maternal grandfather, James Wristen Helms of Kannapolis.

Rebekah Richards Strickland

BIRTH DATE: January 18, 1944
DEATH DATE: December 5, 2002

CONCORD, NC - Mrs. Rebekah Ann Richards Strickland, 58, of 1510 12th Fairway Drive, Concord, died Thursday, December 5, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 Pm Sunday, December 8, 2002, at First Assembly Worship Center. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Sam Farina and Pastor Tom Whidden will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Saturday at First Assembly Village in Suite 15. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Mrs. Strickland was born January 18, 1944 in Kankakee, IL. She was a daughter of the late Glenn Charles Richards and Beulah Weller Richards. She was a graduate of Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, AZ and attended LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles, CA.
Mrs. Strickland had lived in this area since 1970. She was a member of First Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne S. Strickland of the home; a daughter, Sherry Ann Rivers and her husband, Craig Allyn Rivers, of Gulf Shores, AL; a son, Allen Wayne Strickland of Charlotte; three brothers, Benjamin Joe Richards of Cedar Ridge, CA, Simon Peter Richards of Mesa, AZ and Daniel Eugene Richards of Canyon City, CO; and three grandsons, Abram Bryce Rivers, Isaac Brody Rivers and Eli Brantley Rivers.

Max Heintz

BIRTH DATE: October 1, 1921
DEATH DATE: December 11, 2002

Charlotte, NC - Mr. Max Heintz, 81, of 5643 Orr Road, Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Marion Fulk will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 PM Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
Mr. Heintz was born October 1, 1921 in Florence, SC. He was a son of the late Zeb Vance Heintz and Margaret Bost Heintz. He was a retired scale repairman. He formerly worked for Piedmont Scale Company, Fairbanks Scale Company, and Metrolina Scale Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Smith Heintz.
Mr. Heintz is survived by his sister, Frances Heintz Richardson of Kannapolis; two brothers, Gene Heintz of Concord and Everett Heintz of Kannapolis; three step-children, Carol and Joe McGlothin of Scottsburg, IN, Judy and Charles Alexander of Midland, Mike and Pam Allen of Indian Trail.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.

Irene Cook Reid

BIRTH DATE: November 12, 1912
DEATH DATE: December 12, 2002

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Irene Cook Reid, 90, formerly of Sides Avenue, Kannapolis, died Thursday, December 12, 2002, at Manor Care in Pinehurst, NC.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Eugene Frady will officiate.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reid was born November 12, 1912 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Rymer Cook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Powell Reid, in August of 1993.
Mrs. Reid is survived by her daughter, Dolores Hammill of Southern Pines, NC; three grandchildren, Kendra H. Knoernschild, Selena H. Shaw, and Albert Henry Hammill; eight great-grandchildren.
