KANNAPOLIS, NC - Robert Haeberle, 54, of 1424 Sherwood Drive, Kannapolis, died Sunday, October 9, 2005, at his residence.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2005, at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born September 16, 1951, in North Olmsted, Ohio, Mr. Haeberle was a son of the late Norman Haeberle and Marian Sotak Haeberle. He was employed as a press-room foreman with the Wall Street Journal. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jerri Lynn Sporn Haeberle, who died December 1, 1996; and a sister, Donna Haeberle.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Haeberle of Concord; a son, Gregory Haeberle of Concord; a sister, Elaine Szakacs of Olmsted Falls, OH; three brothers, Ralph Haeberle of Johnson City, TN, Gerald Haeberle of Parma, OH and David Haeberle of Grafton Township, OH; and three grandchildren, Trey Haeberle, Tori Morrow and Jenna Haeberle.

Angela "Angie" Miller Safrit

BIRTH DATE: May 12, 1972
DEATH DATE: October 13, 2005

CONCORD, NC - Angela "Angie" Miller Safrit, 33, of 418 Kingfield Drive, Concord, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 13, 2005, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2005, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Raymond Davis will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times they will be at the home of her parents, Jimmy and Phyllis Miller, 6744 Plyler Road, Kannapolis.
Born May 12, 1972, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of Jimmy Lance Miller and Phyllis Rutledge Miller. She was a graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School and graduated with two degrees from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She was employed as a revenue accountant with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Angie was a devoted mother and attended Solid Rock Worship Center.
Survivors include her husband, Scott Eugene Safrit; a daughter, Rachel McKenna Safrit of the home; her parents, Jimmy L. Miller and Phyllis R. Miller of Kannapolis; and maternal grandmother, Clara Kidd of Kannapolis.
Memorials may be sent to Solid Rock Worship Center, 3000 Centergrove Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.

Angell Warren Correll

BIRTH DATE: April 14, 1915
DEATH DATE: October 16, 2005

CONCORD, NC - Mrs. Angell Warren Correll, 90, a resident of the Brian Center and formerly of Sunnyside Drive, Concord, died Sunday, October 16, 2005, at the nursing center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. The Rev. Fenton Jones and the Rev. Tom Whidden will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a daughter, Anne Torrence, 277 Sunnyside Drive, SE, Concord.
Born April 14, 1915, in Taylorsville, she was a daughter of the late Loy Warren, Sr. and Alma Moose Warren. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College where she majored in education. As well as working as a homemaker, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, golf, bridge, square-dancing and was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of Concord First Assembly and attended Forest Hill United Methodist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Valk Correll, who died January 26, 1969; a sister, Evelyn Warren Poole; a brother, Loy "Bub" Warren; and a grandson, John Michael Munn.
Survivors include three daughters, Anne Correll Torrence of Concord, Jean Correll Munn of Tryon and Susan Correll Hickerson of Asheville; a brother, William Warren of Taylorsville; three grandchildren, Joshua Correll Munn of Nashville, TN, Megan Munn Pressley of Robbinsville and Courtney Torrence Randleman of Advance; and a step-great-grandchild, Roxanne.
Memorials may be sent to the activity department at the Brian Center, 250 Bishop Lane, Concord, NC 28025.

Zelle Hall Woodard

BIRTH DATE: January 6, 1916
DEATH DATE: October 17, 2005

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Zelle Hall Woodard, 89, of 1007 McLain Road, Kannapolis, died Monday, October 17, 2005, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at Second Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Brant Piper will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born January 6, 1916, in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Hall and Myrtie Shepherd Hall. She had lived in this area most of her life and retired several years ago from the washcloth department of Cannon Mills, Plant One. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Funderburk Woodard, who died March 11, 1987; a daughter, Betty Woodard Watson; a sister, Nell Wyatt; five brothers, Fred Hall, Clate Hall, Tolbert Hall, Tam Hall and Hoby Hall; a granddaughter, Linda Kay Woodard; and two great-grandchildren, Linda Kay Baker and Randal Alan Eddings, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Woodard and wife, Norma, of Kannapolis; three sisters, Faye Brown, Virginia Brown and Mary Brown, all of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Robert Hall, Jr. of Boone; seven grandchildren, Wanda Pierce of Rock Hill, SC, Marsha Vansant and Randal Alan Eddings, both of Concord, Lisa Cheek of Sanford, LaDonna Stainback of Kannapolis, James Ray Eddings, Jr. and Robert Kevin Eddings, both of China Grove; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia White Benfield

BIRTH DATE: July 19, 1912
DEATH DATE: November 5, 2005

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Virginia White Benfield, 93, of 922 Oval Street, Kannapolis, died Saturday, November 5, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center.
A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. David Prather will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born July 19, 1912, in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley White and Maggie Gilbert White. She retired several years ago from Cannon Mills and was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church.
Her husband, Robert Edward Benfield, preceded her in death on November 12, 1977.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon McLester of Winston Salem; a brother, Lonnie White of Kannapolis; and a grandson, Scott Wagoner and wife, Carrie, of Concord.

William Joseph Robinson, Jr.

BIRTH DATE: November 14, 1946
DEATH DATE: November 7, 2005

Charlotte, NC - William Joseph Robinson, Jr., 58, of 10512 Four Mile Creek Road, Charlotte, died at his residence, Monday, November 7, 2005.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born November 14, 1946 in Iredell County, he was a son of Laval Lambert Robinson of Salisbury and the late Dr. William Joseph Robinson, Sr. He was a self-employed sales representative and a veteran of the US Army.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Norma Alexander Robinson; a daughter, Angela Robinson Freinstein and husband, Edward Freinstein, of Charlotte; a son, William Joseph Robinson III of Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Bradford L. (Frances) Burgess and Mrs. Mac (Kathy) Swaringen, both of Kannapolis; three brothers, John S. Robinson of China Grove, David M. Robinson of Spencer and Joseph A. Robinson of Kannapolis; and two grandchildren, Steven Freinstein and Cassidy Freinstein.

John C. Gardner

BIRTH DATE: October 16, 1919
DEATH DATE: November 20, 2005

KANNAPOLIS, NC - John C. Gardner of Kannapolis died at home at age 86 on Sunday, November 20, 2005, of natural causes. Mr. Gardner was born on October 16, 1919 to the late George Wilson Gardner and Annie Stewart Gardner. He was a First Class Petty Officer in the Navy for 4 years, during which time he served in the Pacific during World War II. Afterwards, he came home to become a loving and beloved family man. A life member of Christ Episcopal Church, he served as a member to the vestry and taught Sunday school. In 1996, he retired from his own Gardner’s Garage after 18 years.
Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Gardner Page, and survived by his wife, Ishmael Gardner; sons, Thomas Gardner and his wife, Judith, Jerry Gardner and his wife, Donna, Reid Gardner and wife, Cynthia; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wentz Fontinot, David Wentz, Amy Gardner Goodson, Sherry Gardner, Christine Gardner Clay, Dana Gardner Andreasson, Phillip Gardner, Daniel Gardner, Dwayne Carter, Shannon Carter Dellinger, Christopher Page, as well as, 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at Christ Episcopal Church in Cleveland, NC. The body will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

John Carl Spoon

BIRTH DATE: May 30, 1933
DEATH DATE: November 30, 2005

CONCORD, NC - John Carl "Papa" Spoon, 72, of 500 Allen Drive, Concord, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2005, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kannapolis. Bishop James R. Johnson and Jonathan King will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At other times they will be at the home of his daughter, Laura Elizabeth Morgann, 153 Corban Avenue, Concord.
Born May 30, 1933, in Durham, he was the son the late Carl Spoon and Sarah Evelyn Salmon Spoon. He served in the US Navy as a machinist and was honorably discharged. He worked for the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Ga. for over 32 years and retired in 1989. Following his retirement, he worked for Carolina Truck Repair, and as a bus driver for Cannon School and a tow-truck driver for Daveray Services in Concord. His interests included fishing, auto-racing, wood-working, and gardening. He also loved his many dogs, especially the dachshunds.
John married Maxine Merrell Spoon, now deceased, in October of 1961. After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the couple was later sealed in the Salt Lake City temple by Elder Paul H. Dunn. He served in the past as a member of the bishopric of the Atlanta, Ga. Second Ward and as the Sunday School President of the Kannapolis, NC Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura Elizabeth Morgann of Concord; two sons, Broughton Christopher Simpson of Sonora, Mexico and Steven Merrell Simpson of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Christopher Simpson, Marie Morgann, Marley Simpson and Sarah Morgann; an aunt; Elizabeth Salmon; uncle, John Timothy Salmon; cousins, Mary Thomas Ayers, Martha Salmon Cox, Elinor Salmon Smith and Kay McSurty; and special friends, Amy Ellison of Harrisburg, Leslie Fisher of Kannapolis, Mike McManus of Mt. Holly, Sharon Fisher of Kannapolis and Joyce and David Evans of Concord.
Memorials may be sent to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1601 Cooper Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Charles Rhodes, for his special friendship, care and concern.

Wilma Beaver Ennis

BIRTH DATE: March 2, 1919
DEATH DATE: December 13, 2005

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Wilma White Beaver Ennis, 86, formerly of Earley Circle and the Britthaven of Kannapolis, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at the Brian Center in Concord.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tim Jernigan will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born March 2, 1919, in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. White and Alice Barnes White. She was an active member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church and retired in 1974 from the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ralph C. Beaver, who died February 1, 1965 and Alfred Dean Ennis, who died October 5, 2005.
Survivors include her daughter, Terrie Beaver Dellinger and husband, Keats, of Kannapolis; two step-sons, Eric Ennis and wife, Phyllis, of Landis and Tom Ennis and wife, Gayle, of Florence, SC; three brothers, Richard White and Amos White, both of Lenoir and Lewis White of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Keats Dellinger II and wife, Kay, and Marla Dellinger Hutchins, both of Kannapolis; four step-grandchildren, Rick Ennis of Concord, Jeff Ennis and wife, Ann, of Matthews, Traci Sorg and husband Ken of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Emily Ennis of Florence, SC; six great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; six nieces; two nephews; and a beloved friend, Marie Foil of Kannapolis.

Ricky Dale Thomas

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Ricky Dale Thomas, 44, of 920 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, died Monday, December 19, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Billy Claytor will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of his father-in-law, Leaon Parham, 1813 West C Street, Kannapolis.
Born October 26, 1961, in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of Mardice Brewington Thomas of Concord and the late Harold Lloyd Thomas. He formerly owned and operated Honest Heating and Air in Mooresville.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Whitey Dale Thomas; and a brother, Roger Dale Thomas, Sr.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Crystal Parham Thomas; a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Thomas of Concord; a son, Joshua Lee Thomas of Concord; a step-daughter, Michelle Haddad of Kannapolis; a sister, Brenda Thomas of Kannapolis; and a brother, Billy Wayne Thomas of Locust.
