KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Vera Meschke Blackwelder, 73, of 5310 Tanbark Drive, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
Mrs. Blackwelder was born April 21, 1933, in Schneidemihl, Germany. She was a daughter of the late Bruno Meschke and Helene Bauer Meschke. She had worked for Wal-Mart and had formerly worked at NorthEast hospital for 20 years.
Mrs. Blackwelder is survived by two daughters, Connie Marcline and Laura Haggins, both of Concord; a son, Bobby Blackwelder, Jr. of Kannapolis; two brothers, Kurt Meschke of Germany and Guenther Meschke of Cleveland, OH; three sisters, Irene Wiggette of England, Inge Renner of Germany and Erika Beemiller of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family has requested that memorials for Mrs. Blackwelder be sent to, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Boy Scout Camp Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Viola Mae Cline

DEATH DATE: May 18, 2006
KANNAPOLIS, NC - Viola Mae Montieth Cline, 90, a resident of Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis and formerly of Davidson Highway, Concord, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the nursing facility.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, at Parkwood Baptist Church. The Rev. Darrell Coble will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Friday at Parkwood Baptist Church.
Born May 17, 1916, in Huntersville, she was the daughter of the late John Gaston Montieth and Cora Elizabeth Boger Montieth. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Cannon Mills. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church.
Her husband, Harvey Alexander Cline, preceded her in death on December 4, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Lea Hullender and husband, James, of Lake Lure; a son, David Cline and wife, Judy, of Raleigh; two sisters, Gladys Kimmer and Odessa Steele, both of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Brian Hullender of Atlanta, Ga., , Lisa Cline Ayers of New York, NY, Tina Hullender Yannone of Concord and Jeff Cline of Charlotte; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Andrew.

James R. Alexander

KANNAPOLIS, NC - James Robinson Alexander, 87, of Trinity Oaks in Salisbury and formerly of Kannapolis, died Saturday, May 6, 2006.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard A. Rhoades and the Rev. Hoke Ritchie will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove. The body will lie in state in the church from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Alexander was born, July 29, 1918, in Cabarrus County, a son of the late C. D. Alexander and Pearl Robinson Alexander. He retired from Kannapolis Ice & Fuel Co. and Twin Oaks Poultry. He was a very active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, property committee, Lutheran Men in Missions and was a Boy Scout Leader. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his wife, Lida Turbyfill Alexander, who died April 11, 1997.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Lida Alexander of Raleigh; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Barbara Bogan Stirewalt

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Barbara Bogan Stirewalt, 78, of 2210 Nellie Street, Kannapolis, died Thursday April 20, 2006.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev Gary Posey will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Stirewalt was born October 21, 1927 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late Walter Stancil Bogan and Maggie McLendon Bogan.
Survivors include her husband, Arlie Stirewalt; a son Nathan Brenn Stirewalt of Kannapolis; a daughter, Martha Walters and her husband, Richard, of Concord; and a sister, Sandra Haynes of Concord.

Rachel Lisk Sikes

MOORESVILLE, NC - Mrs. Rachel Lisk Sikes, 89, of 184 Ponderosa Circle, Mooresville and formerly of Hemlock Avenue in Kannapolis, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Genesis ElderCare in Mooresville.
A graveside service with interment to follow will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The Rev. Dave Cash will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born September 1, 1916, in Stanly County, Mrs. Sikes was the daughter of the late Elma Lisk and Annie Lipe Lisk. She retired from the sewing room of Cannon Mills. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Owen Sikes, who died October 26, 2002; and two sisters, Helen Starling of Albemarle and Louise Chappel of Candor.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Sikes and wife, Sybil, of Laurinburg; a daughter, Taska Sikes Smith and husband, Jack, of Mooresville; one sister, Margaret Pope of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Mark Smith, Jason Smith, Kellie Hayes, Greg Sikes, Jeff Sikes and Lisa Sheppard; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mildred McDaniel Pickrel

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mildred McDaniel Pickrel, 86, died April 9, 2006 at Hospice House of Cabarrus County. Born August 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Wilson McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the First Wesleyan Church of Kannapolis with Dr. Forbis L. Kivett and Rev. Edwin Chriscoe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Larry Pickrel of the home and Jerry Pickrel of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Scot Wendelken of Pickens, SC, Lisa Fowler of Concord, and Rachel Pickrel of China Grove; three great grandchildren, Abbir, Amalie, and Andie Marie Wendelken of Pickens, SC; four sisters, Rose Smith of Gastonia, Emmalee Staley of China Grove, Henrietta Tallardy of Salisbury, and Barbara Shoemaker of China Grove.
Mrs. Pickrel was preceded in death, in addition to her parents by her husband, Lester J. Pickrel; two brothers, Alvin (Buck) McDaniel and Ralph McDaniel.

Larry Michael Barnhardt

SALISBURY, NC - Mr. Larry Michael Barnhardt, 61, 335 Charolais Drive, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. Rev. Sherri Barnes and Rev. Karen Odor will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Barnhardt was born December 30, 1944 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Toledo “Toad” Danner Barnhardt and Ruth Marshall Barnhardt. He was retired from construction as a finish carpenter. He was a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.
Mr. Barnhardt is survived by his son, Michael Shane Barnhardt of the home and his sister, Sonja Barnhardt McHone of Salisbury.

Hullet "Butch" Parham

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Hullet Jewrel "Butch" Parham, 61, of 7348 Beaver Road, Kannapolis, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mick Hinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. Members of the Millbridge Go-cart Racers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born September 3, 1944, in Brunswick, Georgia, he was the son of Jasper Parham and Ruth Hill Parham. He was a mechanic with Goodyear in Salisbury and was active in go-cart racing at the Millbridge Speedway.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Lee Parham, Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin Parham of Kannapolis and David Parham and wife Juanita of Mooresville; parents, Jasper Parham and Ruth Hill Parham of the home; wife, Shelia Lambert Parham of Mooresville; two brothers, Donald Parham and wife Frances of China Grove and Lee Parham and wife Julie of Kannapolis; two sisters, Jackie Steele of Kannapolis and Wanda Wamboldt and husband Bob of Kernersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Terry Doyle Mesimer

DEATH DATE: April 6, 2006
CONCORD, NC - Mr. Terry Doyle Mesimer, of 4309 Shimpock Road, Concord, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 6, 2006, at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Parker and the Rev. Gil Gilbert will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born January 12, 1913, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Albin Luther Mesimer and Lela Barringer Mesimer. He was a longtime dairy farmer who started in 1941 and shortly thereafter started a milk hauling business to accommodate himself and other local farmers in getting milk to market. He was listed in the North Carolina Who's Who and was a Gideon for 40 years. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Alma Smith Mesimer; three daughters, Carol Plott and husband Larry, Becky Hargett and husband Bobby and Kathy Dayvault and husband Bobby, all of Concord; two sons, Terry Mesimer, Jr. and wife Pat and Steve Mesimer, both of Concord; a brother, Vaudrey Mesimer of Concord; 15 grandchildren, Kim Dawson, Pam Mesimer, Jennifer Plummer, Mark Plott, Jeff Plott, Chris Plott, Terry Plott, Andrea Grider, David Hargett, Amy Shuffler, Derrick Mesimer, Karen Morgan, Angela Mesimer, Amanda Dayvault and Kevin Dayvault; 30 great-grandchildren, Kristen Mesimer, Jordan Mesimer, Wesley Mesimer, McKenna Mesimer, Danielle Mesimer, Amber Mantooth, Adam Plott, Cole Plott, Carleigh Plott, Jonathan Plott, Andrew Plott, Charlie Plott, Hunter Plott, Shae Plott, Austin Plott, Lane Plott, Carlie Plott, Casey Barbee, Bradley Barbee, Caden Grider, Karsten Grider, Bekah Shuffler, Kaleb Shuffler, Stephanie Hargett, Daniel Hargett, Emily Hargett, Brittany Morgan, Matthew Morgan, Michael Mesimer, and Savannah Mesimer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord. The Rev. Scott Davis, Rev. Coy Privette and Rev. Tim Vaughn will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Born July 6, 1941, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. Waggoner and Eula Lipe Waggoner. She was a hairdresser at Reflections in Kannapolis. She was a member of Pitts Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Davis; two daughters, Kim Davis Vaughn of Athens, Ga. and Candice Davis Jenkins of Canton, Ga.; two sisters, Carolyn Brown of Landis and Jane Evans of Enochville; a brother, Lloyd Waggoner of China Grove; and two grandchildren, Mackenna and Lauren Vaughn.
