MARJORIE BOLLINGER SAX
Marjorie Bollinger Sax, age 87, died on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Burlington.
Mrs. Sax, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, was a librarian and a ballroom dancing teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Karl Jolivette Sax, and son, Karl Sax II.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Sax Perry of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, William Charles Sax of Centreville, Virginia, Jennifer Sax Shevitz of Everett, Washington, Ward Fearrington Bland of Durham, Hally Jolivette Miller and Cynthia Rae Bland, both of Pittsboro, and Erik Jolivette Sax of Fairfax, Virginia. Mrs. Sax had three great-granddaughters, Emma Sax, Caitlin Sax, and Hannah Jolivette Shevitz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements by Carolina Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Rockland Friends (Quaker) Meeting in Blauvelt, New York.
LARRY KEITH ELLIS
Larry Keith Ellis, 47, of 4325 Old US 421, North, Siler City died Sunday, December 11, 2005 in Burgaw.
Graveside services and burial are being held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Oakwood Cemetery, North Chatham Avenue, Siler City, with Rev. Herbert Lowry, officiating.
Mr. Ellis was a native of Chatham County and a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Spencer Ellis.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Poe Ellis of Siler City; sister, Sharon Brewer and husband, Nelson of Siler City; brother, Billy Lewis Ellis and wife, Bonnie of Bear Creek; four nieces and two nephews.
JACK THOMAS JOHNSON
Jack Thomas Johnson, 84, of 810 Bowers Store Road, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, after a lengthy illness with Parkinson's Disease.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Joy Baptist Church, 61 Bowers Store Road, Siler City with Rev. Steve Clark and Rev. Rodney Hellard officiating. Burial followed at Joy Baptist Church.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Chatham County, a dairy and poultry farmer. He was a member of Joy Baptist Church and a former member of 60 years at Hickory Mountain Baptist Church, where he raised his family. He was a charter member of the Silk Hope Ruritan Club. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Joe A. and Mattie Clark Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Tempie Lou Barker Johnson of Siler City; sons, Jack M. Johnson and wife, Faye, Dell T. Johnson and wife, Gywmn; daughters, Judy J. Bryant and husband, Jimmy, Jane J. Fogleman and husband, Johnnie, all of Siler City; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
CHARLIE SAMUEL DOWD
Charlie Samuel Dowd, 96, of Siler City died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at SunBridge Care.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Loves Creek Baptist Church, with Dr. J. Conrad Glass, Jr., officiating. Burial followed at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dowd was a native of Chatham County, a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church and was owner/operator of Dowd's Machine Shop. He was preceded in death by his wives, Laura Ellen Dowd and Mattie Scotton Dowd and a step-daughter, Alyce Scotton Taylor.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Gaynelle S. Glass and husband, Conrad of Raleigh; step-grandchildren, William Glass of wife, Elaine of Raleigh, Scott Glass and wife, Bonnie of Greenville; step-great-grandchildren, Katie and Sam Glass, Jenny and Ross Taylor; brothers, Thomas Dowd and wife, Bertha, Jim Dowd and wife, Frances, and Graham C. Dowd and wife, Lessie May, all of Siler City.

JERRY SPENCER ELLIS
Jerry Spencer Ellis, 52, of LaCross, VA., died Monday, December 12, 2005 at South Hill, VA., Hospital of short term cancer and heart problems.
Mr. Ellis was the son of the late Paul Spencer Ellis of Pittsboro and the late Ruth Ellis Goodman of Pittsboro.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne McMilliam Ellis of LaCross, VA.; sons, Spencer Wayne Ellis, Jeremy Wayne Ellis, both of the home, Jerry Spencer Jenkings of Reidsville; five grandchildren of Reidsville, ten aunts, ten uncles, and 80 cousins.
There will be a short service at Crowder, Hite & Crews Funeral Home in South Hill, VA., at 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2005.
R. T. POE
R. T. Poe, 77, of 6723 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Siler City died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill Church Road, Pittsboro with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Poe was a native of Chatham County, a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a retired farmer.
Survivors include sons, Brooks H. Poe of Siler City, Curtis Harris and wife, Mary of Barrington, IL.; daughters, Connie H. Evans and husband, Harold of Troy, Cathy H. Andrews and husband, Roger of Chapel Hill, Carolyn H. Thomas and husband, Kenny of Fairview; sister, Irene P. McLaurin of Pittsboro; brother, Wade Poe, of Siler City; grandchildren, Talli Brooke Poe, Ray Evans and wife, Christy; and one great-grandchild, Carley Evans.
Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, December 14, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City.
NAOMI L. DAVIS
Naomi L. Davis, 78, died Monday, (11-28-2005).
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (12-03-2005) with Mr. John Gordon officiating at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.
Mrs. Davis was a native of London, Ontario, Canada and a graduate of Emmaus Bible College in Toronto, Canada. She was a retired bookkeeper, formerly attended North Ridge Bible Chapel and a resident of Pittsboro Christian Village.
Survivors include sons, David Lancaster, James Honeycutt, both of Raleigh; daughters, Brenda Lewis of Raleigh, Sandra Bullock of Zebulon; sister, Gail Milligan of Honea Path, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

RUFUS LOUIS JORDAN
Rufus Louis Jordan, 89, of Bear Creek died Sunday, (12-04-2005) at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday (12-07-2005) at Brush Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Patrick Fuller officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jordan was a native of Chatham County, a poultry farmer, and member of Brush Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Iola Westbrooks Jordan of Bear Creek; sons, William (Bill) Jordan of Sanford, R.L. (Buddy) Jordan, Wayne Jordan, both of Bear Creek, James Jordan of Mt. Airy, Larry Jordan of Bonlee, Gary Lee Jordan of Asheboro, David Jordan of Coleridge; daughters, Josephine Jordan of Bear Creek, Joyce Willett of Liberty, Sarah Williams of Siler City, Pat McClelland of Greensboro; brother, Collon Jordan of Liberty; 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grand-children, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

John Warren “Bud” Stuart, 83, of Randleman died Sunday, (12-04-2005) at Westwood Health & Rehabilitation in Archdale.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (12-07-2005) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur with Dr. John Rogers and Rev. Coy Lee Haywood officiating.
Mr. Stuart was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II, employed with Automatic Vending Service and retired as manager of Service Distributor.
Survivors include a son, Johnny C. Stuart of the home; sisters, Irene Wallace of Asheboro, Frances Fields of Siler City; step-daughter, Patricia Rhoades of Richmond, Va.

CARRIE WOMBLE DAVIS
Carrie Womble Davis, 91, of Greensboro died Friday, (12-02-2005) at Evergreen’s Health Care Systems.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, (12-06-2005) at Gees Grove AME Zion church with Rev. Allen Moore and Rev. Dr. Michael Frencher officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Davis was a native of Chatham County, a member of Gees Grove AME Zion Church and was retired from the New York City Board of Education. She was a member of the Friendship Chapter #521 Order of Eastern Star in Siler City.
Survivors include sisters, Allean Foxx of Siler City, Louise Womble of New York; and step-daughter, Marsha Davis of Fayetteville.
BETTY ROSE RAMSEY FERGUSON
Betty Rose Ramsey Ferguson, 76, of 607 West Sixth Street, Siler City died Monday, December 5, 2005.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, Siler City with Rev. Michael Sykes officiating. Burial followed at Chatham Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ferguson was a native of Rowan County and worked for the Ramsey Realty Insurance Company in Salisbury and Family Pharmacy in Siler City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, C. M. "Don" Ferguson, Jr. of Siler City; daughters, Betty Rose Fulghum and husband, Ken of Asheboro, Nancy Ann Ferguson of Apex; sons, C. M. "Donnie" Ferguson III and wife, Debbie of Asheville, Mickey Ferguson and wife, Robin of Graham; grandsons, Michael Ferguson, Daniel Ferguson, both of Asheville; sisters, Pat Meadows and husband, George of Siler City, Nancy Ramsey of Salisbury; brothers, Vernon Ramsey of Jacksonville, Jack Ramsey and wife, Glenda of Salisbury; brother-in-law, Paul Ferguson of Siler City; several nieces and nephews; special friends of the family, Jane Farmer and Janet Fearrington.

NANCY GREGSON PERRY
Nancy Gregson Perry, 90, of Siler City passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Champions Assisted Living in Wilmington.
She was born March 23, 1915 in Siler City where she resided most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Julius Clarence and Mabel Hadley Gregson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Curtis Perry and sister, Marie Gregson Cooper.
Her survivors include daughters, Nancy Perry Haywood of husband, Thomas Carroll Haywood of Concord, Julia Perry Budd and husband, Joel Kirk Budd of Wrightsville Beach; sister, Edna Gregson Taylor of Covenant Towers, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; niece, Irene Cooper Edwards and husband, Dr. W. J. Edwards of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren, Dr. Joel Kirk Budd, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Morehead City, Mr. Joseph Taylor Budd and wife Patricia of Pittsboro, and Elizabeth Haywood Drucker and husband Robert of Bethesda, Md.; four great-grandchildren, Joel Kirk Budd III, Perry Stone Budd, both of Morehead City, Hannah Hadley Budd and Jacob Sloane Budd of Pittsboro.
Mrs. Perry was a graduate of Greensboro College and a lifelong member of the First Methodist Church in Siler City.

A private celebration of her life took place on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Covenant Towers in Myrtle Beach, S. C.
