BILLY EDWARD YORK
Billy Edward York, 82 of Siler City died Saturday, (08-20-2005) at his home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday (08-24-2005) at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert Lowry officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. York was a native of Chatham County a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and a retired poultry farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Cox York of Siler City; daughters, Patricia A. Byerly, M. Diane Harris, both of Siler City, Rebecca Jan York of Raleigh; son, B. Edward York, Jr. of Siler City; sister, Mary Louise Vestal of Siler City; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

RALPH CLETUS MOON
Ralph Cletus Moon, 2305 Flint Ridge Road, Siler City went home to be with this Lord and Savior, Friday, August 19, 2005.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church in Snow Camp, with Rev. Roger Coburn, Rev. Gary Waisner and Rev. Larry Frye officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Moon was a native of Alamance County, lifetime member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church where he served as superintendent, choir member and Sunday School board member. He served in the 104th Timberwolf Division, U.S. Army. He was employed with North Carolina Seating Company, and owner/operator of C&M Installation and Repairs for approximately 35 years installing school equipment.
Survivors include his wife, Olene Wicker Moon of the home; daughters, Faye Kinton and husband, David of Siler City, Brenda Brower and husband, Jimmy, Jr. of Siler City; grandson, Christopher Brower; granddaughters, Mary Alice Phillips and husband, Travis, Patricia Brown; great-grandson, Derek Brown, Cody Brown; brothers, Otis Moon, Dacie Moon, both of Liberty; sisters, Anna Collins and Minnie Kenyon, both of Liberty.

LUGERTA ALLEN FOGLEMAN
Lugerta Allen Fogleman, 84, of Burlington died Wednesday, (08-10-2005) at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell.
Funeral services were conducted at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington, on Saturday, (08-13-2005) at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Don Carter, Burial followed in Alamance Memorial Park.
She was a native of Alamance County and of the Christian faith.
Survivors include her husband, Vern Fogleman of the home; three sons, Charles Fogleman of Graham, Kenny Fogleman of Snow Camp, Max Fogleman of Burlington; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Jones, Eunice Terry, both of Siler City; and Evelyn Thompson of Bear Creek.

DOROTHY POOLE KEY
Dorothy Poole Key, 65, of Gulf died Wednesday, (08-10-2005) at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel in Sanford, with Rev. Keith Miller, officiating.
Mrs. Key was a native of Randolph County.
Survivors include son, David Key of Sanford; daughters, Dianne Key Kelly of Sanford, Joan Willis of Hillsboro, TN., Betty Patterson of Broadway, Linda Key Green of Boone; brothers, Odis Poole of Mt. Gilead, Leroy Poole of Polkton; sister, Mary Ann Yow of Biscoe; and eight grandchildren.
CHARLIE RODGERS
Charlie Rodgers, 84, of Pittsboro died Wednesday (08-10-2005) in Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, (08-17-2005) at Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Kenny Brooks, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rodgers was a native of Chatham County, a member of Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church and was retired from Marriott Corporation.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Goldston Rodgers; son, Thomas Melvin Rodgers; daughters, Fannie Pauline and Cecelia, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers, Willie, Jesse, Arthur Rodgers, all of Pittsboro; and ten grandchildren.
BOBBIE FRANKLIN RIDDLE
Mr. Bobbie Franklin Riddle, 76, of Pittsboro died Thursday, (08-11-2005).
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, (08-14-2005) at Mt. Gilead Baptist church in Pittsboro, with interment following in the church cemetery.
Senior Master Sgt. Riddle retired from the US Air Force. He was previously with the UNC ROTC, and was an Eagle Scout. He was parking supervisor at UNC Hospital until 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Hicks Riddle of the home; son, Ricky David Riddle of Kansas City, MO.; and three grandchildren.
SADIE LEE TYSOR HAULSEY
A graveside memorial service will be held for Chatham County native, Sadie Lee Tysor Haulsey at 11:00 am on Monday, (08-22-2005) at Roberts Chapel Churchyard.
PATRICIA DAVIS “PAT” ROBERSON
Patricia Davis “Pat” Roberson, 63, of Pittsboro, died Monday, (08-15-2005) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, (08-17-2005) at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. John Singletary officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Roberson was a native of Chatham County, a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, and retired from AT&T after 33 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Roberson of the home; sons, Allen Roberson, David Roberson, both of Pittsboro; sister, Elaine Lytton of Goldston; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to either Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, or to the Chatham County Council on Aging.
MADELINE PHILLIPS SMITH MOORE
Madeline Phillips Moore, 74, of Siler City died Tuesday, (08-16-2005) at Cross Roads Retirement Community in Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, (08-18-2005) at Oakley Baptist Church, Siler City with Rev. J. R. Bouldin and Rev. Womack Keck, officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bear Creek.
Mrs. Moore was a native of Chatham County, a member of Oakley Baptist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and was retired from Glendale Hosiery Mill.
Survivors include her husband, John Ross Moore of the home; son, Billy Wayne Smith of Siler City; stepson, Ricky L. Moore of Siler City; brothers, Floyd Phillips, Homer Phillips, James Phillips, Bobbie Phillips, William “Shug” Phillips, all of Bear Creek, Harlan Phillips of Lexington; sisters, Betty P. Carter, Peggy P. Brooks, Doris P. DiMeo all of Siler City; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday, (08-17-2005) at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. At other times, the family was at the family home.

LARRY HAROLD HARRIS
Mr. Larry Harold Harris, 72, of Bath, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 in the chapel of Hillside funeral service with Rev. Fred Fordham, officiating.
Mr. Harris, known as an avid golfer, was born December 25, 1932 in Sparta and was a graduate of Pittsboro High School, class of 1952. He was the son of the late Thomas and Isabel Harris. Larry proudly served in the United States Navy for twenty-five years, where he reached the rank of Aviation Master Chief. Some of his more significant duty stations included Chief Naval Operations Staff, Comnavairlant Staff, Attack Squadron 42 and Attack Squadron 35. After retiring from the Navy, Larry was a Logistical Engineer in the design and development of the Sea Hawk Helicopter used by the US Navy.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Frances Sanderson Harris and three sons, Thomas A. Harris, Timothy E. Harris, Larry A. Harris; six grandchildren, Marisa, Jordan, Austin, Beth, Matthew, Katharine; two brothers, James Harris and Robert Harris.
His sister, Carol Ferrell, preceded him in death.

Edith Estelle Guyton Wright, 84, of Pittsboro died Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Laurels of Chatham.
Graveside services and burial were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with Will Carter officiating.
Mrs. Wright was a native of Durham County, of the Wesleyan Faith and retired from Hadley-Peoples Mfg. Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horton Wright, Sr., and a son, Horton Wright, Jr.
Survivors include sons, Pete Wright of Pittsboro, Joe Wright of Siler City; daughter-in-law, Catherine M. Wright of Siler City; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

JACK C. VAN HOOSE
Jack C. Van Hoose, 74 of Asheboro died Thursday, (08-04-2005) at Randolph Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, Ohio at 11 am on Wednesday, (08-10-2005) with pastor Curtis Booth, officiating.
A native of Portsmouth, Ohio, he was a member of Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church in Siler City, a veteran of the United State Air Force, a member of the Lucasville American Legion Post #363, and a 1948 graduate of Valley High School. He has worked as a computer programmer for the city of Fairborne, Ohio.
Survivors include daughters, Jane Hearing and Teresa Van Hoose, both of Siler City; sons, Jeffrey Van Hoose of Jacksonville, FL, Gregory Van Hoose of Asheboro; brother, Verner Van Hoose of Bahanna, Ohio; sister, Martha Brisker of Lucasville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

ARLISS EUGENE THRIFT, SR.
Arliss Eugene Thrift, Sr., 46, of Siler City died Sunday, (08-07-2005) at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, (08-09-2005) at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. Burial followed at Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Bear Creek.
Mr. Thrift was a native of Chatham County and of the Baptist faith. He was a 1976 graduate of Jordan-Matthews High School, a former truck driver for Hickory Mountain Farms and a former member of the Siler City Fire Department.
Survivors include sons, Arliss E. (Bubba) Thrift, Jr., Matthew Thrift, both of Siler City; parents, George J. and Florence Hicks Thrift of Siler City; and sister, Elizabeth (Lib) T. Jones of Siler City.
