MRS. DIXIE WILLIE HUDSON
Mrs. Dixie Willie Hudson, 83, of Pittsboro died Saturday, (04-22-2006) at the Laurels of Chatham.
Services for Mrs. Hudson were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, (04-26-2006) at the graveside at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ cemetery in Pittsboro, with Mr. Robert Elmore officiating.
A native of Lawrenceburg, TN, she ran her own home child day-care business from 1956 until 1998. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pittsboro, and a former member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Hudson of Pittsboro; sons, Mark Hudson of Pittsboro, Billy Hudson of Durham; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
ABEL F. LEHMAN
Abel F. Lehman, 93, of Reinholds, formerly of Collegeville, Pa., died Thursday, (04-20-2006) at the home of his daughter.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday (04-25-2006) at 11 a.m. in the Perkiomen Valley Brethren in Christ Church in Collegeville, Pa. with Rev. Marlin Ressler officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lehman was a native of Lebanon County, a farmer, and after retiring from Superior Tube Co. of Collegeville, he drove a school bus for the Methacton School District. He was the oldest member of Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, and a member of Cocalico Area Senior Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Florence J. Gordon of Reinholds; sons, Robert W. Lehman of Phoenixville, Pa., Vernon (Lee) Lehman of Siler City; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

VERA ALETHEA BOND

Vera Alethea Bond, age 94, died peacefully April 23, 2006 at Smithfield Manor, Inc., Smithfield, N.C. where she was a longtime resident.
She was a homemaker, co-owner with her husband Dennis of Bond's Market in Selma, N.C. and a former employee of Belk's. She graduated from Selma High School and was a member of Selma Baptist Church.
Alethea was the daughter of Bessie Irene and Hardy Raymond Easom of Selma. She is survived by one daughter, Janet Bond DeWitt and husband, Tom of Siler City, N.C.; her grandson, Thomas E. DeWitt, Jr. and wife, Millie of Altamonte Springs, FL and granddaughter Susie Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Her great grandchildren are Kasey DeWitt, Michael DeWitt, Thomas DeWitt, Janet Grace DeWitt, and Ian Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma followed by her funeral at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
LEON BRAY NOBLES
Leon Bray Nobles, 79, 3468 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Rickey Wilkie and Rev. Herbert Lowry officiating. Burial followed in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Nobles was a native of Martin County and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a self-employed, golf course constructor.
Survivors include daughters, Linda N. York, Ann N. Clark, both of Siler City; son, Danny Nobles of Siler City; special nephew, James Hill of Siler City; step-son, Bobby Wilkie of High Point; brothers, Ira Nobles of Beaufort, Walter T. Nobles, Eddie Nobles, both of Fayetteville; sister, Frances N. Smith, of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and special friend, Joan Thompson.
ORLESS DEWITTE WILLIAMS
Mr. Orliss Dewitte Williams, 68, of Pittsboro died Thursday, (04-06-2006) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, (04-10-2006) at Alston Chapel Holiness Church with Rev. Jace L. Cox officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City.
Mr. Williams was born in Turbeville, S.C. and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Rockland Psychiatric in New York.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Cotton Williams of the home; daughter, Debra Butler; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters, Janie Willis, Doretha Ford, Georgia O’Pharrow; brothers, James Smith, and Charles Lincoln.
VIRGINIA P. MAULDIN
Virginia Player Mauldin, 69, of Goldston died Monday, (04-10-2006) at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday (04-13-2006) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pete Lamb officiating. Burial followed at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham.
Mrs. Mauldin was a native of Chesterfield County, S.C. and retired from Ramtex.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Maudlin of Asheboro; Vickie Coley of Goldston, Sandra Dutton of Havelock; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

ANNIE FLORENCE COOPER
Annie Florence Cooper, 93, of Bynum, died Tuesday (04-11-2006) in Laurels of Chatham.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in Bynum United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Winner, officiating.
She was a native of Chatham County and was retired from J. M. Odell Mfg. Co.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Mitchell; son, Cadle Cooper, both of Pittsboro; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
DAVID RAY BARKER
David Ray Barker, 51, of Siler City died Monday, (04-10-2006).
Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, (04-13-2006) at Brush Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Fuller, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Barker was a native of Chatham County and a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church. He was employed with Venture Construction as a superintendent.
Survivors include a son, Michael Barker of North Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Stacy Barker of Springfield, MO; brothers, Johnie H. Barker, Jr. of Bennett, Earl Barker of Sanford, Virgil Barker of Siler City; sisters, Allene B. Hart, Rachel Barker, Virginia B. Justice, Frances B. Gilmore, all of Siler City, Christine B. Harris of High Point, and Juanita B. Richardson of Bear Creek.
KEARA LYNNE HART
Keara Lynne Hart, 30, died Wednesday (04-05-2006) at her home in Chapel Hill.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (04-11-2006) in the Rogers Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steffon Sharpless officiating. Private graveside services were held Wednesday, (04-12-2006)
Ms. Hart was a native of Boulder, Colorado. She was a graduate of Chatham Central High School and attended CCCC.
Survivors include a daughter, Victoria Hart; a son, Justin Hart, both of Goldston; mother, Darien Russell of Bear Creek; sisters, Lauren Johnson of California, Leigh Gonzales of Germany; and one brother, Wayne Dimirsky of Nixa, Missouri.
LONNIE DAVID OLDHAM
Lonnie David Oldham, 76, of Gulf died Thursday, (04-13-2006) at his home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, (04-15-2006) at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Del Parkerson and Rev. Wayne Rigney officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph Honor Guard.
Mr. Oldham was a native of Chatham County, a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver and shipping supervisor with Southern Wood Piedmont.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Lataine Oldham of the home; sons, Tony Oldham of Siler City, Jeff Oldham of Gulf, Eric Oldham of Bennett; brother, Samuel David Oldham, Jr. of Shelbyville, KY; Judy Evans of Sequir, TX, Susan Bennett of Henderson, TX; and five grandchildren.

Ruth Lindley Haith, 72, of Snow Camp, died Friday, (04-14-2006) at Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Burlington.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, (04-17-2006) at South Fork Friends Meeting with Winfred Crouse officiating. Burial followed in South fork Friends Meeting Cemetery.
Mrs. Haith was a native of Alamance County and a homemaker. She was a member of South Fork Friends Church and the William Penn Sunday school class.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Junior Haith of Snow Camp; daughters, Connie H. Rader of Siler City, Sherry H. Simmons of Burlington, Patty H. Glass of Coleridge; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

ALFRED DAVID POWERS
Alfred David (Slick) Powers, 49, of Staley, died Thursday, (04-13-2006) at Chatham Hospital.
Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, (04-17-2006) at White Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Ed Brown officiating.
Mr. Powers was a native of Zenith, Ohio, attended Pentecostal Victory Temple and was a construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Brown Powers of Asheboro; daughters, Star Powers of Florida, Tabitha Powers of Asheboro; sons, Jermine Powers of Florida, Shane Powers of Asheboro; step-daughter, Kristen Brown of Asheboro; brothers, Thomas Ralph Powers of Liberty, Randall Franklin Powers of Florida, Randy Eli Powers, Jeffrey Allen Powers, both of Coleridge; sister, Mary Dell (Cindy) Hayes of Ramseur; half brothers, Robert Martindale of Randleman; half sisters, Josephine Bray, Coleridge, and Kay Frances.

FRANK WILTON WILLETT
Frank Wilton Willett, 57, of Greensboro died Friday, (04-14-2006) at Moses H..Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, (04-17-2006) at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City with Dr. Linda Greene officiating. Burial followed in Edward Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery.
Mr. Willet was a native of Chatham County and a member of Cathedral of His Glory. He was owner/operator of Frank’s Lawndale BP for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Bradley Willett of Greensboro; son, Brian Earl Willett of Goldston; mother, Ruth Phillips Willett of Siler City; brother, Dennis Willett of Southern Pines; step-son, John Bradley Strickland; step-daughter, Judith Paige Murphy, both of Greensboro; one grandson; four step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
CLAUDE HARRISON FIELDS, JR.
Claude Fields, 78, entered into rest with our Lord on April 8, 2006.
Claude was born Jan. 16, 1928 in Scott County, VA, lived in Pittsboro for six years and was currently residing in Jackson, TN.
Claude is survived by Beulah Fields, his wife of 56 years; A daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Terry Jackson of Jackson, Tenn., a daughter and son-in-law, Hope and James Hilton of Pittsboro, and one son, David Fields of Jackson, Tenn.
Claude had six grandchildren, Tim Purcell, of Jackson, Tenn., Matthew Purcell of Chapel Hill, Dustin and Dallas Hilton of Pittsboro, Katie Fields of Atlanta, GA and Rachel Fields of Pittsboro.
