MAUDE MURCHISON
Mrs. Maude Murchison, 99, of Sanford, died Monday, (03-18-2013, at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation.

Arrangements are pending with Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home at this time.

WARREN JAMES KENNEDY
Mr. Warren James Kennedy, 91, of Robbins, passed away Saturday, (03-16-2013).

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, (03-19-2013) at 2 p.m. at Bright Light Baptist Church where he was a member, with Rev. Ralph Voncannon and Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Kennedy Family Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Mr. Kennedy was a Moore County native and a WW II Army veteran. He worked at Robbins Mill and Ithaca. He was the son of the late Daniel and Mary J. Spivey Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Welch Kennedy and a daughter, Brenda K. Williams.

Survivors include a son, Roger Warren Kennedy of Robbins; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

BARRY SCOTTON
Barry Scotton, 46, of Siler City died Saturday, (03-16-2013) at his home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (03-21-2013) at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Barry R. Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park.

Mr. Scotton was a native of Chatham County, a graduate of Jordan-Matthews High School and employed by Ramtex Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Setonya G. Scotton; daughter, Tiana Glover of Durham; father, George Scotton of Siler City; sister, Kim Scotton of Siler City; brothers, Stevie Scotton, Eddie Scotton, both of Siler City, Mechelle Scotton of Ramseur; half-sisters, Priscilla Scotton, and Gabrielle Scotton, both of Siler City.

LEONARD RICHEY COOPER
Mr. Leonard Richey Cooper, 70, of Pittsboro, died Monday (03-18-2013) at UNC Hospitals.

The celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (03-23-2013) at Mt.Pleasant United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jim Jones presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Cooper was born March 5, 1943 in DeKalb County, Alabama, son of Dolphy and Sindy Ledford Cooper. An electrician by trade, he retired from UNC with 30 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Mann Cooper; sons, Tracy Lynn Cooper, Scott Aaron Cooper, both of Pittsboro; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and brothers, Charles Cooper and Leroy Cooper, both of Alabama.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, and at other times at the Cooper residence.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 269 Mann’s Chapel Road, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Hall – Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro is serving the family.

JAMES EDWARD “SKIP” PARRISH
James Edward “Skip” Parrish, 68, died peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Beacon Place.

Skip was born in Siler City, NC in Chatham County and graduated from Jordan Matthews High School. He was owner/operator of Parrish Building Maintenance for 17 years, until his retirement in 2003.

He was preceded in death by his father, James William Parrish and his mother, Louise Darden Parrish.

He is survived by his four daughters, Jennifer Starke, Lisa Parrish, Michelle King, Natalie Parrish, all of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Brandon Paschal, Michael George and Hannah Paschal, also of Greensboro; and one sister, Brenda Coward of Mooresville.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Street Chapel, with the Rev. Chan Shaver officiating. Burial followed at Lakeview Memorial Park.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 15 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Street

Skip’s family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Frank Hairr, Dr. Burney and Allison Tilley for their care and support during his illness.

DIXIE SMITH BROWN
Dixie Smith Brown, 88, of Hunters Trail, Myrtle Beach, SC, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Brown was born in Siler City, on May 22, 1924, the daughter of William Robert and Laura (Adcock) Smith. After moving to Myrtle Beach, Dixie and her husband, Therrell, purchased the Sea Esta Motel, which they operated for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Peggy Medlin of Arkansas; one brother, Ray Smith of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City.

The funeral was held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 2 p.m.at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City.

AUDREY BOOE FELTS
Audrey Booe Felts, 85, of3054 Charlie Cooper Road, Staley died Friday, March 15, 2013.

Mrs. Felts was born March 23, 1927 the daughter of Caswell H. and Lucy (Renegar) Booe. She was a native of Yadkin County and worked for the Selig Company. Audrey is preceded in death by her sisters, Merline Bray, Pauline Baker and brothers, Garallen Booe and Bill Booe.

Surviving is a daughter, Beverly S. Cooper of Staley; sisters, Betty Shuping of Salisbury, Gwendolyn Cline and husband, Flake of Mocksville; brothers, Lonnie Booe and wife Judy of Winston-Salem, Caswell Booe and wife Patsy of Courtney; granddaughter, Kristen Cooper Bare and Stephen of Siler City; grandson, Brent Cooper of Staley; great-grandchildren, Ally and Jackson Bare.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks officiating. The family received friends following the memorial service at the church.

SUSAN LEE DIRKS
Susan Lee Dirks, age 65, of Pierce Township, Ohio died Friday, March 15, 2013 at her caregiver’s residence in Milford, Ohio.

She was born January 6, 1948 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Irwin and Dorothy Rapp Heinecke. She received her Master’s degree at Wright State University and was a retired C.P.A. with the Clark, Schaefer, Hackett Company.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Allen Dirks; a daughter, Stefanie Dirks; a sister, Patricia Heinecke Bodoh; two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven A Heinecke.

A gathering of family and friends was held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center Street, Milford, OH 45150.

Her family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.

PATRICIA JOSEPHINE McDONALD MORGAN
January 8, 1936 – March 18, 2013

The Lord brought home one of his angels on March 18, 2013. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and later getting married to the love of her life and settling down in Pittsboro, NC, she is seated next to the Lord along with her son Steven Morgan, brother, Michael McDonald and parents, William and Sarah McDonald.

She will leave behind unconditional love from her husband Clarence Morgan, children and their spouses, Philip and Jennifer Morgan of Apex, Jeanette and Jim Spears of Austin, TX, Denise and Billy Partin of Pittsboro. She also leaves behind the love of her grandchildren, Holly and Brandon Morgan, Bailey Spears and Austin and Aaron Partin along with lifelong friends and siblings and other relatives still in Canada that will never be forgotten.

We will be celebrating her life in a church service on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Julia’s Catholic Church in Siler City followed by a reception for a woman that never met a stranger. Please join us to share your memories of this amazing, wonderful woman. Until we meet again. We love you.

FRANCES RITTER HAMER
Frances Ritter Hamer, 87, of Old US 421 North, Siler City died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Hamer was born February 22, 1926, the daughter of Leonard Ritter and Geraldine Donithan Bowyer. She was a native of Pulaski County, Virginia and attended the Siler City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Frances was a housewife and in her younger days loved to cook, she also enjoyed working her crossword puzzles and sitting out on her porch and watching the birds and squirrels. She dearly enjoyed her Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald F. Hamer, Sr.; two sons, Steve and Michael Hamer; two grandsons, Scott Allen and Wallace Bare, Jr.

She is survived by five daughters, Linda Allen and husband Billy of Siler City, Shelby Kaylor and husband Michael of Asheboro, Lana Blue of Fayetteville, Sandra Teague and husband Alan of Orlando, Florida, Mary Sue Bare and husband Wallace of Climax; step-son, Fisher Hamer and wife Elizabeth of Siler City; step-daughter, Dianne Russell and husband John of Green Valley, AZ; four sisters, Barbara Statzer and husband Bob of Johnson City, TN, Shirley Moss and husband Tommy of South Mills, Martha Pearce and husband W. O. of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jean Dobbins of Dublin, VA; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the family home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City with Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.

BERNIE HARRISON
Bernie Harrison, 68, of Will Brown Road, Siler City, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Harrison was a native of North Carolina, born February 2, 1945, the son of Melda (Greene) Martin. He attended New Port News Ship Building & Dry Dock School and NC State University. He was employed as a pipe design engineer with General Electric in the nuclear division, and was a member of the “Blue Hairs” that traveled the world retro-fitting nuclear power facilities. He enjoyed wood working and cooking breakfast for the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Women’s Organization in Pino, NC. Bernie was an avid NC State fan. He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Olivia Fowler.

He is survived by his fiancée, Nancy Collette; daughter, Karen Hinsley and husband Dave; son, Brian Harrison; grandchildren, Zack Felton, Hunter Harrison and Jessie Anderson.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 10085 Silk Hope-Liberty Road, Siler City, where he was a member, with Rev. Tom Hallberg officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Humane Society, P O Box 2064, Rockingham, NC 28383 or the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.

LESSIE MANESS MOTE
Lessie Maness Mote, 75, of 900 West Dolphin Street, Siler City died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Siler City Care & Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Mote was born in Chatham County on January 28, 1938, the daughter of Millard and Lula (Hicks) Maness. She was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church and was employed at Collins & Aikman for 17 years. Lessie was preceded in death by her husband, David George Mote; son, Jimmy Hayes Roberts Mote; grandson, William David Mote; her parents; sister, Eula Darr; and brothers, J.C. and James Maness.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Mote Mashburn of Chapel Hill, Robin Michelle Mote of Broadway; two sisters, Margaret M. Phillips, Doris M. Guthrie, both of Siler City; five brothers, Tom Maness and Charlie Maness, both of Snow Camp, Gurney Maness and Earl Maness, both of Liberty, Junior Maness of Siler City; grandchildren, Jacob Owen Mote and Shawna Michelle Williamson.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 1:30-2 p.m. at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City. The funeral will be Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Loves Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Bob Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kathy Mashburn, 1749 B Dobbins Drive, Apt. 127, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
