GONZALO R. “SALO” GONZALEZ
Gonzalo R. “Salo” Gonzalez, 72, of Bear Creek died Sunday, (10-31-2010) at his home..
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday (11-06-2010) at the family home with Rev. Jim Whittaker and Rev. Dale Shackelford officiating.
Mr. Gonzalez was born December 8, 1937 in New York City, NY, the son of Candido and Maria (Robles) Gonzalez.
He had been employed with Moore’s Machine Company and worked for Bonlee Recycle Center. He was of the Catholic Faith.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hamrick Gonzalez; sons, Sal Gonzalez of Fayetteville, Dino Gonzalez of Orlando, FL; step-sons, Steven Lee Pate of Royal, AL, Terry Lynn Pate of Blountville, AL; six grandchildren, four step-grandsons, and one step-great-granddaughter.

HAROLD ROGER MORGAN, SR.
Harold Roger Morgan, Sr., 66, of Siler City died Thursday, (11-04-2010) at Chatham Hospital, Inc.
The funeral was held Saturday, (11-06-2010) at 11 a.m. at Siler City Church Of God, with Rev. Neal Kight officiating. Burial followed in Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham at 2 p.m..
Mr. Morgan, Sr. was born August 19, 1944, the son of Lewis J. and Thelma Stokley Morgan. He was born in New Hanover County and was employed as a mechanic with Atlantic Textile. He attended the Siler City Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Player Morgan; sons, Harold Morgan, Jr. of Rincon, GA, David Morgan of Greensboro, Jeffery Morgan of Siler City; sister, Patricia M. Brown of Wilmington; brothers, Bobby Morgan, Frankie Morgan, both of Wilmington, Lewis Morgan of Burgaw, Billy Morgan of Winnabow; and five grandchildren.
HELEN HIGGINS FIELDS
Helen Higgins Fields, 88, of Pittsboro, died Tuesday, (11-02-2010).
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, (11-04-2010) at Pittsboro Christian Village. A graveside service followed at 1:30 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
Born September 22, 1922 in Roanoke Rapids, Mrs. Fields was the daughter of Herbert Randolph Higgins and Cornelia Eason Higgins. She was a homemaker and a member of Pittsboro Bible Chapel.
Survivors include a son, Mark Fields of Newnan, GA; daughter, Dana P. Turner of Cartersville, GA; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MARTIN MILANO
Martin Milano, 57, died Friday (11-05-2010), at his home in Pittsboro.
A memorial service will be held at Donovan Funeral Home in Goshen, NY, Friday (11-12-2010), at 7 p.m.
Mr. Milano was born May 30, 1953 in the Bronx, NY to Louis Milano and the late Eileen Milano. He was a WAN Engineer for the Chatham County School District.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Schoenbaum Milano of Pittsboro; daughter, Amy of Cornwall, NY; son, Grady of Pittsboro; father, Louis of Salisbury Mills, NY; brothers, Robert of Lighthouse Point, FL, and Scott of Garner.

LULA MAY TURRENTINE
Lula May Turrentine, 89, of Pittsboro, died Tuesday (11-02-2010) at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were held Saturday (11-06-2010) at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moncure, with Rev. George Headen officiating. Burial followed in Seymore Cemetery.
Ms. Turrentine was educated in the North Carolina public school system and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a seamstress by trade.
No immediate survivors.
LESTER EUGENE CALICUTT
Lester Eugene Calicutt, 78, of Pittsboro, died Saturday, (11-06-2010) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (11-11-2010) at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home with Pastor tony Hancox officiating. Interment will follow in Old Rock Springs Cemetery.
Born in Bonlee, March 26, 1932, Mr. Calicutt was the son of Lee and Linnie Calicutt. He served his country in the US Navy. He was a retired mechanic, and worked 30 years at Kayser-Roth in Siler City.
Survivors include a son, Rusty Calicutt; brother Franklin Crutchfield; and sister Emma Jean Burke.
Friends visited with the Calicutt family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

KEVIN SMITH
Kevin Smith, 25, of 3307 Caralea Valley Drive, Concord, died Thursday, November 4, 2010.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Needhams Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James Cockram and Rev. Jimmy Hussey officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Kevin served in the United States Army. He was a loving father to his daughter, Carra. He loved sports and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Christy; daughter Carra of the home; parents, Stevie and Lisa Smith of Robbins; maternal grandparents, Charles and Pat Kennedy of Robbins, and paternal grandparents, Bill and Dot Smith of Robbins.
The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at Needhams Grove Baptist Church in Seagrove, Saturday, November 6, 2010 and at other times at 491 Maness Road, Robbins.
Kennedy Funeral Home of Robbins served the Smith family.
DEBBIE LYNN KISER
Debbie Lynn Kiser went to be with the Lord Monday night at Village Green Care Center in Fayetteville. Debbie graduated from Chatham Central High School in 1982. She pursued a medical career by working as a C.N.A. at Meadow Brook Manor in Siler City, and later at Durham VA Hospital in Durham. She graduated from Sandhills Community College in 1991 and worked as a L.P.N. at Central Carolina Hospital.
The best times of Debbie’s life were accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, playing with her cousins, especially Johnny, watching Carolina basketball, tennis, and singing with the Chatham Central Concert Choir. Debbie wants to be remembered as being a friend to everyone.
Debbie is survived by her mother, Mrs. Anne Kiser; sister, Ms. Patty Cockman; and two nieces, Miss Meredith Cockman and Miss Katherine Cockman all of Fayetteville.
Miss Kiser’s funeral service will be held Thursday November 11, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Village Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Dr. Bruce Martin officiating, with visitation following the service. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church cemetery in Bear Creek.

RAY BREWER SIZEMORE
Ray Brewer Sizemore passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Pinehurst.
Born in Bear Creek, on November 29, 1921, he was a college professor, with a doctorate in education. Ray was on the faculty of Longwood University for the 20 years preceding his retirement. Before that, he was provost at Southside Virginia Community College and on the faculties of Western Carolina University and East Texas State University. During WW II, he was a Marine drill instructor at Paris Island and later served 22 months in the Pacific during which time he took part in the invasion of Okinawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston L. and Etta Sizemore and by his three brothers, Howard, Carl and Bobby.
He is survived by Phyllis T. Sizemore, his wife of 67 years and his daughter Phyllis M. Sizemore, both of Pinehurst; his son and daughter-in-law, Ray B. Sizemore, Jr. and Christina, of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kristin Size-more and Greg of Oakton, Va.; Lisa Summers-Gibson and Jeff of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; Robert Summers and Amanda of New York City; as well as six great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
On Wednesday, November 10, the family received visitors at the Pinehurst United Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Road, from 12 to 1 p.m. with services immediately following. Internment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 1105 West Morganton Road, Southern Pines.

ARTIE JACK HIGH
Mr. Artie Jack High, formerly of Durham, died Tuesday (10-26-2010). No service is planned at this time.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Hall-Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.
LUCILLE POPE THOMPSON
Lucille Pope Thompson, 92, Bear Creek died Saturday, (10-30-2010) at Care View Rest Home, Snow Camp.
The funeral was held Tuesday, (11-02-2010) at 2 p.m. at Oakley Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Sandifer officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was born July 13, 1918, the daughter of Luther C. and Annie Fields Pope. A native of Chatham County, she was a member of Oakley Baptist Church, and a Sunday school teacher for 62 years. She retired from A. J. Schneierson and Sons and worked as a poultry grower. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Thompson and twin sister, Louise Ella Cooper.
