MARGARET RABB RECTOR
Margaret Rabb Rector, age 75 of Sanford, formerly of Siler City, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
Born on June 6, 1933 in Gaston County to the late Donnie E. and Vera S. Rabb. She and her husband Bob lived in Siler City for 20 years where Margaret retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. She was very active in the Eastern Star, a Grand Worthy Matron, an extremely talented seamstress, a crafts teacher, devoted wife, and loving mother to her three daughters.
Margaret was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert “Bob” Rector.
Three daughters: Ann Slade and husband Tom of Raleigh, NC; Bobbie Johnston and husband Mitchell of Ashburn, VA; and Debi Parker and husband Tim of Advance, NC; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Friday, November 7, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford with Dr. Jeff Clark officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel at Miller Boles Funeral Home. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or to the First Baptist Church of Sanford Sanctuary Fund, 202 Summitt Dr., Sanford, NC 27330.

JOY HOLT HOUGH
Joy Holt Hough, age 94, of Coventry House, Siler City, formerly of East Raleigh Street died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Hough was born July 12, 1914, the daughter of Robert Eugene and Elizabeth (Amick) Holt.
Mrs. Hough was a native of Alamance County and a member of the First United Methodist Church where she faithfully sang in the church choir for 50 years. Joy was a member of the Chatham Hospital Auxiliary "Grey Ladies" for 50 years and enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laban E. Hough
She is survived by two daughters, Annette H. Sheppard of Polk City, FL, Jane C. Porter of Virginia Beach and Florida; one brother, Milo Holt of Siler City, NC; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday, November 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City with Rev. Mike Sykes, Rev. Travis Owen and Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

LORENE SHORES BROWN
Lorene Shores Brown, 74, of Siler City died Tuesday (10-28-2008) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
The daughter of the late Chester and Mattie Maude (Donahue) Shores, she was a native of Catawba County. She was retired from Hadley Peoples Manufacturing.
The funeral was held Friday (10-31-2008), at 2:00 pm at Moon's Chapel Baptist Church, Siler City with Rev. Scott Faw officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters, Debbie B. Poindexter of Siler City, Wanda B. Jordan of West End; two sons, Richard Brown and Steven Brown both of Siler City; two brothers, William Shores of Asheville, Charles Shores of Franklinville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
ATTLEE P. BLACK
Attlee P. Black, 82, of Pittsboro died Monday (10-27-2008) at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Black was a WWII veteran and served on the USS New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Jean Black.
He is survived by a daughter, Kitty Maynard of Pittsboro.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your local humane society.
JUDITH MEDLIN GAINES
Judith “Judy” Medlin Gaines, 65, of Goldston died Thursday (10-30-2008) at her residence.
The funeral was held Sunday (11-02-2008), at 2:00 pm, at Antioch Baptist Church, Goldston, with Rev. Barry Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The daughter of the late Jerome and Geraldine Frances (Bradley) Medlin, she was a native of Lee County, a homemaker, and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gaines is survived by her husband, Carl R. Gaines, Jr.; one daughter, Carla Gaines Wilkie; one son, Trae Gaines of the home; and four grandsons.
ALICE JOY BURKE
Alice Joy Burke, 77, of Siler City died Thursday (10-30-2008) at her residence.
A graveside service was held Monday (11-02-2008), at 11:00 am, at the Moses Ruth Family Cemetery, Goldston.
The daughter of the late Thomas Cook and Lorena (Moore) Ruth, she was a native of Chatham County. She was a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church and worked for A.J. Schneierson.
Mrs. Burke is survived by one daughter, Sue Burke Cagle of Toms River, NJ; two brothers, John M. Ruth of College Park, MA, and Gilbert Ruth of Pittsboro; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Burke Peedin.
TRUMAN O. NANCE
Truman O. Nance, 66, of Asheboro, died Friday (10-31-2008) at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral service was held Monday (11-03-2008), 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Thames officiating. Burial followed at Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery.
The son of the late Everette H. and Chloie Callicutt Nance, he was a native of Randolph County. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was retired from Pugh Oil Company. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dempsey Nance.
Mr. Nance is survived by his wife, Martha Bowers Nance; daughter, Anissa Nance Lowe of Asheboro; son, Jeffery D. Nance of Lumberton; three brothers, Everette Nance, Jr., Ira E. Nance, and Clinton C. Nance, all of Asheboro; sister, Evelyn N. Stout of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

VIVIAN JOHNSON SCOTT
Vivian Scott Johnson, 93, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday (10-28-2008) at Sunbridge Nursing Home, Siler City.
A graveside service was held on Saturday (11-01-2008) at Alamance Memorial Park with Elder Kenneth Key officiating.
The daughter of the late Seymore and Augusta Jones Johnson, she was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and former worker in the textile industry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Scott.
JOYCE MARIE HERNDON JOHNSON
Joyce Marie Herndon Johnson, 62, of Goldston, died Sunday (11-02-2008) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
The funeral service was held Tuesday (11-04-2008), at 2:00 pm, at Bynum United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Hancock presiding. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The daughter of the late Rueben and Emma Grace Howell Herndon, she attended Bynum United Methodist Church in her earlier years and worked as a nurse’s aide.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by sons Bobby Terry of Sanford and Dwayn Johnson of Chapel Hill; daughters, Darlene Knight of Carthage and Jackie Terry of Ramseur; six brothers, Eddie Wayne Herndon, Tommy Herndon, Jimmy Herndon, Harold Herndon, Reuben Herndon and Joe Herndon all of Chapel Hill; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are requested to the donor’s choice.
JOE HENRY OLINGER
Joe Henry Olinger, 74, of Sanford, died Thursday (10-30-2008) at Moore Regional Hospital.
The son of the late Paul Seymour and Mary Lee Mann Olinger, he was born in Chatham County, a member of the New Elam Christian Church in New Hill.
Funeral services were held Saturday (11-01-2008), at 3:00 pm, at New Elam Christian Church by the Rev. Garland E. Smith. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred M. Olinger of the home; one daughter, Nina Olinger of Wildwood, FL; three sons, Danny Olinger of Raleigh, Timmy Olinger of York, SC, Tony Olinger of Clover, SC; three step sons, Charles White of Herndon, VA, Christopher White of Gloucester, VA, and Vincent White of Long Beach, CA; three sisters, Evelyn O. Johnson of Sanford, Helen O. Lawrence of Apex, and Jean O. Justice of Las Vegas, NV; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
GEORGE GIEDGE HENDRICKS
George Giedge Hendricks, 78, of Moncure, died Thursday (10-30-2008) at his home.
A Chatham county native, Mr. Hendricks was the son of the late Rufus B. and Lula B. Williams Hendricks.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday (11-5-2008), at the Haywood Independent Bible Church by Rev. Terry Pleasants. Friends may visit with the family following the service.
He is survived by one brother, Bennie M. Hendricks of Raleigh.
MICHAEL DALE CURRIE
Michael Dale Currie, 52, of Siler City died Saturday (11-01-2008) from injuries received from an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (11-05-2008) at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Church in Siler City. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Currie of Siler City; son, Dale Farris of Siler City; mother, Elmer Virginia Currie Person of Pittsboro; five sisters, Carolyn Person, Della Nettles, and Gloria Person all of Siler City, Florence Person of Pittsboro, Joyce Cheek of Ramseur; three brothers, Ricky Person of Pittsboro, Danny Person of Darlington, SC, and David Person.
DONALD KEITH ANDREW
Donald Keith Andrew, 68, of Knightdale, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning (10-29-2008) at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Keith was a native of Chatham County, but moved to Lynchburg, VA upon graduation at Gastonia Technical Institute, to work with General Electric.
While employed at General Electric he received a US Patent for his development of a Pot Core Device. Keith also served four years in the VA National Guard. In 1976 his career in electronics led him back to North Carolina. Keith recently retired and enjoyed his grandchildren, home and garage, where he always had a project going.
A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Wen-dell Christian Church with Reverend Tom Hill officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hensley Andrew from Lynchburg, VA; a daughter, Jennifer A. Smith and son-in-law, Paul D. Smith of Raleigh; a son, Donald K. Andrew, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jennifer H. Andrew; grandchildren, Tyler A. Smith and Leah E. Smith, both of Raleigh; also survived by a sister, Jane Lindley and husband, Joe Lindley of Alamance County; three brothers, Murray Andrew and wife, Barbara of Siler City, Blake Andrew and wife, Rebecca, Phillip Andrew and wife, Pauline, both of Snow Camp; 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Blanche Lindley Andrews and two nieces, Janie Lindley and Gayla Andrews.
