WILLIAM COLON BROWN
William Colon Brown, 87, of 900 Joe Brown Road, Bear Creek died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Mr. Brown was born in Chatham County on March 23, 1925, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Ina (Bray) Brown. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

He was retired from Townsends, Inc. A member of Oakley Baptist Church, he served on the pulpit committee, as a Deacon and member of Pauline Powers Friendship Sunday School class. Colon will be remembered for his love of horses. For 27 years he went to the Denton July 4th celebration doing horse power demonstrations and the Silk Hope Old Fashion Day. He loved giving hay rides to the children and traveling to visit the Amish country. Colon loved and enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Inez (Jessup) Brown; three daughters, Jan B. Clark and husband Tom of Bear Creek, Peggy B. Mora and husband Dean of Vass, Bonnie B. Caviness and husband Joel of Bennett; one son, James C. Brown and wife Becky of Bear Creek; two brothers, Coy A. Brown of Siler City, Norman J. Brown of Bennett; grandchildren, Jesse and wife Shannon, Alex, Tyler, Lauren and Trent.

The family received friends Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Oakley Baptist Church, 2300 Siler City-Glendon Road, Siler City with Rev. Eddie Ellison and Rev. J. R. Bouldin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2300 Siler City-Glendon Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

DANIEL E. KUHFAHL
Daniel E. Kuhfahl, 48, of Pittsboro passed away Friday, December 28, 2012.

Mr. Kuhfahl was employed by the Town of Pittsboro.

Survivors include his mother, Elaine of Pittsboro; cousins, Gerry Hain and Jim Roberts of Pittsboro, Gary Hain of Erie, PA, Deborah Burke of Ashville, Sue Carter of Hendersonville; daughter, Amber Kuhfahl of Florida.

Memorial services were held at Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating.

MARGERY ANN HEITZMANN
October 3, 1938 – December 28, 2012

Margery Ann Heitzmann, 74, of Asheboro, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Randolph Hospital. A daughter to the late Vincent and Eleanore Deslich, Margery was born in Dorrance, PA. In 1997, she and her husband, Louis, moved to NC from Fairfield, NJ. Margery diligently worked at Admiral Employment Services in Asheboro, until she retired at the age of 72.

In addition to her parents, Margery is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Heitzmann and her sister, Betty Ulatowski.

She is survived by her children, Jay Bero of Asheboro, Lisa Daniolowicz, of NJ, Mark Heitzmann, of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Michelle, Tiffany, Emily, Rachael, Josh and Chelsie; her brother, John Deslich; and her sister, Sylvia Bielecki.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Hanks Chapel UCC, with the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

TIMOTHY ALBERT MORRIS
Mr. Timothy Albert Morris 47, of Asheboro, passed away Friday, (12-14-2012).

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, (12-20-2012) at 2 p.m. at Waddells Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mack Beck officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Morris was a Randolph County native and was self- employed.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Brannon Morris of Robbins; mother, Virginia G. Morris of Asheboro, sister, Tassie Morris of Asheboro; brothers, Roger and Keith Morris, both of Asheboro; and one grandson.

JUSTINO MACEDO MONTEZ
Justino Macedo Montez, 51, of Siler City died Wednesday (12-19-2012), at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Montez was born January 1, 1961 in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of Elionso and Chrispina (Montez) Macedo. He was employed by Goldkist Poultry.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Lineberry Macedo; daughter, Tammy Macedo; sons, David Macedo, Justin Macedo; sister, Bertina; and three grandchildren.

BETTY HORD LANGLEY
Bertie Elizabeth Hord Langley, 80, of Archdale, died Wednesday, (12-19-2012) at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Langley was born in Gaston County February 3, 1932, the daughter of Travis Roscoe and Lorena (Belch) Hord. A former resident of Staley, she had worked in furniture manufacturing and was of Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie Kennedy of Liberty; three grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

LOUIS EPHRIAM WILSON
Mr. Louis Ephriam Wilson, 34, of Maury, N.C., died Wednesday, (12-19-2012).

There was a graveside service Saturday, (12-22-2012), at 2 p.m. at Shallow Well Cemetery in Sanford with Bishop Gary Hatch officiating.

Louis was born in Denver, Colorado on August 13, 1978, to Sylvia Hight and Larry Wilson. He attended Southern High School in Durham, was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints and was active in the Boy Scout program. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lois Mae Harding and Louis Canapa Wilson, Myrtle Gaskin Hight King and Henry Alton Hight.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his daughter, Isabella Grace Mowery; brothers, Jared Harding Wilson of Lillington, Allen Scott Wilson of New Jersey; and a sister, Rebecca Dianne Wright of Grover.

EDWARD YOUNG FREEMAN
Edward Young Freeman of Sanford, died Thursday, (12-20-2012), at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington.

THOMAS SULLIVAN HERRING
Mr. Thomas Sullivan Herring, 55, of Carthage, died Tuesday, (12-18-2012) at his home.

WILLIAM W. DOW
William Watlington Dow passed away Tuesday, (12-04-2012), at home in Pittsboro.

GRADY TRUITT MASON
Mr. Grady Truitt Mason, 78, of Sanford, died Wednesday, (12-12-2012), at the East Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington.

The funeral was held Sunday, (12-16-2012), at 2 p.m. at the Sanford Church of God with Rev. David Kimbrell officiating. Burial followed at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Mason was born in Harnett County on September 4, 1934, to the late Claude Clinton Mason and Leecy Holder Mason. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Franklin Mason. He served our country in the United States Navy.

He is survived by daughters, Darleen Lo Presto of Erwin, Laurie Sherbitsky of Holtsville Long Island, N.Y.; sisters, Cathrine Iannarone of Georgia, Margie Kelley, Janice Herring, both of Sanford; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

RUTH BEAL JOHNSON
Ruth Beal Johnson, 93, of Sarasota, FL passed away Monday, (12-10-2012).

A Celebration of Life service was held at First Brethren Church in Sarasota, FL on Saturday, (12-15-2012) at 12 p.m., with Pastor David Stone officiating. A private burial was held at Big Meadows Primitive Baptist Church in Pittsboro, Tuesday, (12-18-2012).

A native of Pittsboro, she was the daughter of the late Sallie Margaret and Robert Henry Beal, a homemaker and member ofBethany Baptist Church in Gulf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra H. Johnson and sisters, Ruby Beal Poe, Gertrude Beal Hall and Devereux Beal.

She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Johnson Matthews; sister, Rachel Beal Mansfield; one grandson, two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

ANNERIS EUSEBIO THELLMAN
Mrs. Anneris Eusebio Thellman, 32, died Friday, (12-14-2012) at Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be held at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, (12-20-2012), at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard E. Phelps officiating.

Mrs. Thellman was born May 29, 1980, in New York, NYand was an Account Manager at JRW & Associates.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick Thellman of Sanford; sons, Jared Anthony Thellman, Matthew James Thellman; daughter, Alyssa Skyler Thellman, all of the home; step-son, Nathan Michael Thellman of Ohio; father, Gabriel Antonio Eusebio of Teaneck, N.J.; mother, Gloria Maria Hidalgo of New York, N.Y.; brother, Kelvin Gabriel Eusebio of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; and sister, Madeline Eusebio of Kernersville.

DONNA HALL KELLY
Donna Hall Kelly, 51, of Sanford, died Sunday, (12-16-2012) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, (12-20-2012) at 11 a.m. at Lee Memory Gardens with Pastor John Sauls officiating.

She was born in Lee County, on September 25, 1961 to Gladys Carter Hall of Sanford and the late Joseph Hall. Donna worked for Performance Fibers.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son Gregory Kelly, Jr.; daughter Devon Wicker; sisters, Deborah McKay, Joy Satterfield, Lisa Whitaker; and five grandchildren, all of Sanford.

REV. BOB GELSTHORPE
Rev. Bob Gelsthorpe, “Pastor Bob”, of1732 Fall Creek Church Road, Bennett, North Carolina, was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Pastor Bob was the third of four children born to the late Joe and Louise Gelsthorpe of Phoenix, Arizona. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Denver, Colorado and Denver Baptist Bible College.He preached his first gospel message when he was 16 years old and continued his ministry until the day he passed away. He planted and pastored Columbine Hills Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado, Maranatha Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana, and North Platte Baptist Church in North Platte, Nebraska. He has been the pastor of Fall Creek Baptist Church in Bennett for the past 10 years.

He was a staunch defender in the battle for Christian education in the 1980’s which enabled thousands of children across the United States to receive a Christian education without government indoctrination. Because of his courage, he was the recipient of the Defender of the Faith Award given by Bob Jones University in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jolene Gamble Gelsthorpe of the home.; daughters, Jamie G. Hicks and husband, Samuel, of Ramseur; Julie S. Parker and husband Michael of Trinity; Jodie G. Allmon and husband Scott of Easley, South Carolina; Bobie G. Puckett and husband Robert of Simpsonville, South Carolina; sons, John D. Gelsthorpe and wife Faith of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ben Troutman and wife Tracy of Asheboro.

One of his greatest joys in life was fishing with his 15 grandchildren, Chrissy Parker, Kaelynn Hicks, Matthew Parker, BreAnna Hicks, Braxton Allmon, Ashton Troutman, Abby Hicks, Dae Troutman, Bryson Puckett, Samantha Hicks, Brylie Allmon, Jackson Allmon, Hannah Hicks, Brielle Puckett, and JoAnna Gelsthorpe.

The family received friends from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Fall Creek Baptist Church, Bennett, North Carolina and other times at the home. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Neal Jackson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Fall Creek Baptist Church Playground Fund or the North Carolina Baptist Hospital Mother’s Day Offering (through Fall Creek Baptist Church ), which helps offset the hospital expenses of Southern Baptist pastors.

Joyce-Brady Chapel is serving the Gelsthorpe family.

MARGARET TEAGUE POWERS
Mrs. Margaret Teague Powers 82, of 7808 Howard Mill Road, Bennett, passed away December 14, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A memorial service was conducted Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel, 3833 Chatham St., Bennett, NC 27208with Rev. Tim Powers officiating. Her request was to be cremated, so there will be no grave site.

Mrs. Powers was a Randolph County native and office manager for Powers Trucking Company. She loved and enjoyed working with flowers.

Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband, Russell; sons, Ronald Powers of Bennett, David Powers and wife Sheila of Bear Creek; granddaughter, Misty Murray and husband Travis of Bennett; and her beloved pet dog of 12 years “Josie”.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Humane Society or your Local Pet Rescue.

Joyce-Brady Chapel is serving the Powers family.
