Roseanne Gaskins Schwarz, 56, of 3212 Tarheel Clubhouse Road, died Thursday, June 2, 2005. Roseanne was born in Lenoir County on October 19, 1948 to the late Ray E. Gaskins and Ruby Cockrell Gaskins. She was the former supervisor of Marriott Hotels on Wake Town Drive.

Roger Dale Taylor, 61, of 3632 Tarheel Club Road, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at his home. Roger was born in Wake County on February 17, 1944 to Edna Liles Taylor and the late Roscoe Taylor. He was Vice President of Warehouse Operations with Mutual Distributing Company with over 30 years of service.

Rosesville - James Grady Wilson, Jr., 76, of 311 Staples Drive, died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Wake Medical Center. He was born October 8, 1928 in Watauga County to the late James Grady Wilson, Sr. and Allie Dale Wilson Wilson. He graduated from Appalachian High School and began his law enforcement career in 1951 with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. In 1954, he transferred to the License and Theft Division of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles where he served the people of the state for 32 years. Mr. Wilson retired in 1985 as Director of the License and Theft Division He enjoyed a second career with Clancy & Theys Construction Company where he served as fleet manager. Mr. Wilson was still employed part-time with Clancy & Theys at the time of his death. His life was centered on his family and New Hope Baptist Church where he was an active member and church leader. He served as a deacon and held numerous committee and leadership positions that helped shape the direction of New Hope Baptist Church. A committed father and husband, he guided his family with principle and gentleness. He lived his life exemplifying the words of the Prophet Micah by doing justice, loving mercy and walking humbly with his God.

J. Donald “Don” Paul
James Donald “Don” Paul, 71, of Zebulon, died Wednesday night, June 22, 2005, at his home. Memorial service was Saturday, June 25, at Strickland Funeral Home chapel, Wendell.
He was born Nov. 27, 1933, in High Point, the son of the late James B. and Alma H. Paul. He was a retired industrial engineer. He was preceded in death by a son, James Steven Paul.
Surviving: wife, Betty Leonard Paul; daughters, Tonya P. Worley and husband Michael of Zebulon, Donna Lawson of Virginia; brother, Joel Paul and wife Sylvia of High Point; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Hixon Bradley Knapp Jr.
Hixon Bradley “Gunny” Knapp Jr., 68, of Raleigh, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at his home after a courageous battle with mylofibrosis. Memorial service was Thursday, June 23, at L. Harold Poole funeral service chapel, Knightdale. Military burial will be at sea at a later date.
He was born in Edgerton, Wis., April 17, 1937. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, and, after retirement, was a federal marshal. He was also a truck driver for MG Industries of Wake Forest.
Surviving: wife, Faye Jackson Knapp; granddaughter, Ashley Evans of Clayton; mother of Ashley, Joyce McCrimmon of Clayton; mother-in-law, Annie Jackson of Wilson; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; best friends from high school, Ronnie and Barbara Lemon of LaCrosse, Wis.

Velma Loreen Winder
Velma Loreen Winder, 91, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at home after a long illness. funeral service was Monday, June 27, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk, Va.
She was born July 30, 1913, in Altoona, Ala., daughter of the late Luther and Delia Dillard. She was a 60-year resident of Norfolk, Va., and most recently lived in Philadelphia, Pa., and Zebulon. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dean A. Price and Kenneth P. Winder; daughter, Gloria Sue Christie; son, Paul W. Price; and stepson-in-law, Lloyd Grimstead. She loved gardening, cooking and talking with neighbors. She was a charter member of Norview Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Va., and was currently a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Surviving: daughters, Velma Dean DePowell and husband Andy DePowell of Philadelphia, Pa., Karen W. Liles and husband Lewis Liles of Zebulon; stepdaughter, Dolores Grimstead of Norfolk, Va.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Sallie Pearce Taylor, 94, died Sunday morning, June 26, 2005, in Louisburg. funeral service was Tuesday, June 28, at Strickland Funeral Home chapel, Wendell. Burial was at Pearce Baptist Church cemetery.
She was born April 29, 1911, in Franklin County, daughter of the late Wiley R. and Effie May Pearce, and was the widow of Benjamin Ervin Taylor.
Surviving: daughters, Willie Wright of Zebulon, Tillie Swanson of Louisburg, Ann Nance of Raleigh, Jean Alexander of Carolina Beach, Nell Jones of Elm City; sons, Jessie Taylor of Zebulon, Dwain Taylor of Bailey, Malcolm Taylor of Selma, Edward Taylor of Wendell; sister, Lera Guy of Raleigh; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Barbara Eudy Capps
Barbara Rose Eudy Capps of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Wendell, died Monday, June 20, 2005. Memorial service was Friday, June 24, in Virginia Beach, Va.
She was born on Christmas Day 1927 to Clarence Tilman Eudy and Mary Barbara Rose Earp Eudy. She moved to the Tidewater area in 1955 and retired in 1992. She was predeceased by her brothers, Clarence Jr. and Bill.
Surviving: daughter, Rosemary Wilson (Tom) of Virginia Beach, Va.; son, Ron Capps (Maureen) of Takoma Park, Md.; grandchildren, Sarah and Kari Wilson; sister, Frances E. Liles of Wendell; sisters-in-law, Mavis Eudy of Wendell, Lucille Eudy of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews.

James Lloyd Boyette, infant son of Lloyd and Amy Andrews Boyette of Wendell, was born and died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Duke Medical Center. Graveside service was Monday, June 27, at Hales Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving in addition to his parents: maternal grandmother, Vonnie Andrews; maternal great-grandmother, Viola Andrews; paternal grandparents, Henry Lloyd Boyette Sr., Lucille Smith; paternal great-grandmothers, Mae Neva Boyette, Callie Jackson.

Zillie Brown Manning, 96, of Zebulon, died Saturday morning, June 25, 2005, at the home of her daughter. funeral service was Monday, June 27, at Strickland Funeral Home chapel, Wendell. Burial was at Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex.
She was born April 7, 1909, in Wilson County, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Jane Skinner. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fernie Brown and Jodie Manning; son-in-law, Harold Eriksen; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Brown.
