Hugh Cyrus "Hugh Baby" Curtis, 72, of Apex, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at WakeMed Cary Hospital. funeral service was Tuesday, April 5, at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel, Raleigh. Burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park.
He was a superintendent with Tri-Therm Insulation Inc. with more than 45 years of service in the insulation industry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Lucy Ellington Curtis; sister, Evelyn Ellington; and brother, John Curtis.
Surviving: wife, Betty Murray Curtis; children, Hugh Cyrus Curtis Jr. and wife Suzanne of Knightdale, Leo Green Curtis of Pittsboro, Patricia Fay Curtis of Apex, Pamela Curtis Denmark and husband Edward of Apex, Sheila Mae Curtis Pine and husband Michael of Hedgesville, W.Va.; grandchildren, Leo and Dylan Curtis, Dawn and Dusty Pine, Curtis and Julia Denmark; brothers and sisters, Virginia Driver of Zebulon, Pete Curtis and wife Janet of Spring Hope, Ann Curtis of Clayton, Churchill Curtis and wife Kathy of Wendell, Lucy Stouter and husband Lawrence of Baltimore, Md.; sister-in-law, Adele Curtis of Zebulon; brother-in-law, J.B. Ruth Marie Kearns
Ruth Marie Kearns of Zebulon died peacefully at home Thursday, March 31, 2005.
She was born in Kansas City, Mo., in 1917. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George W. Kearns; and great-grandson, Kenny D. Seay.
Surviving: daughters, Betty Browser of Cannon Beach, Ore., Sandra Coules of Flagstaff, Ariz., Georgene Hagnas and husband of Zebulon; son, Larry D. Kearns of Almagordo, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

William David "Buddy" Pridgen
William David "Buddy" Pridgen, 78, of Rocky Mount, died Thursday, March 31, 2005. Graveside service was Sunday, April 2, at Pineview Cemetery.
He was born June 10, 1926, in Edgecombe County, son of the late Bennie Elbert Pridgen and Lettie Pearl Narron Pridgen. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Burgess Pridgen.

Madeline Finch Beddingfield
Madeline F. Beddingfield, 87, of Cary, died early Wednesday, March 30, 2005. funeral service was Sunday, April 3, at First Baptist Church, Cary. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery.
She worked as head cashier of the downtown Raleigh Hudson Belk store for 32 years to support her children. She was a member of the ABWA, the DAR, and was an assistant teacher for the Euva Martin Fidelis Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, Cary. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Jones, formerly of Clayton.
Surviving: daughters, Myrna Eakes of Raleigh, Claudette Swain of Cary; son, Bill Jones of Knightdale; sister, Doris Zacny of Angier; grandchildren, Karen Petersen, Frances Green, Frank B. Yarborough, Lori Stancil, Keith Eakes, Bryan Jones, Steve Jones; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces; one nephew.

Judson A. Braswell
Judson Athelston Braswell, 88, of Zebulon, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005. Graveside service was Thursday, March 31, at Zebulon Cemetery.
He was born July 19, 1916, son of the late Judson Aaron Braswell and Ida Bunn Braswell. His boyhood home was in north Johnston County in the Hales Chapel community. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Marines in 1939. He served in the First Marine Division in World War II in the Philippine Islands. He was discharged in 1946. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Maritime Service with the Merchant Marines stationed on the Great Lakes and retired July 1981. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Farmer; and his brother, Wilson Bunn Braswell.
Surviving: nieces, Phyllis B. Corter and husband Ronald, Patricia B. Miller and husband Brant; sister-in-law, Sadie H. Braswell.

William Harris Armstrong
William Harris "Bill" Armstrong of Raleigh died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Rex Healthcare after an extended illness. Memorial service was Friday, April 1, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's Street. Burial was at Raleigh National Cemetery.
Born in Salisbury, he acquired an interest in fine music from his mother, who was an accomplished classical pianist. His father was a prominent medical doctor who worked in the public health field. He served in the Army front lines in Europe during World War II. Afterward, he attended UNC-Chapel Hill, where he studied journalism and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. His subsequent assignments included reporting jobs for The Raleigh Times as well as WRAL radio and television. He retired as editor emeritus of The North Carolina Magazine published by the North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry. He was a distinguished journalist known across North Carolina and beyond. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Harmon Armstrong.
Surviving: son, Stuart Armstrong, wife Linda and stepson, Earl Bullard of Knightdale; daughters, Christine Devlin and son, Sean, of Raleigh, Carol Armstrong of Raleigh; sister, Rose Cozart of Raleigh.

Annette Harrington Bunch of Apex died peacefully Monday, March 28, 2005, at Rex Healthcare. Funeral was Thursday, March 31, at White Oak Baptist Church, Apex. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was born March 10, 1957, in Apex. She was preceded in death by her father, Leother Harrington; sister, Margaret Ann; and brother, Lattie. As a child, she joined White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. She received her high school education at Apex Consolidated and Cary High schools. She retired due to illness from Dorothea Dix Hospital where she worked as a diet clerk. She was a member of the Raleigh Women's Bowling Association, and was a UNC Tarheels and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Charlie "Dick" R. Proctor, 70, of Zebulon, died Monday morning, April 4, 2005, at home. funeral service was Wednesday, April 6, at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial was at Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery.
He was born Nov. 1, 1934, son of the late Callie Gaston and Annie Gupton Proctor, and was a native of Nash County. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving: wife of 50 years, JoAnn Proctor; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and J.W.
