Marie Williams Crump, 77, of Rock Hill, S.C., died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Eden Gardens. funeral service was Monday, March 7, at Tirzah A.R.P. Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Rock Hill, S.C., the daughter of the late Roy Graham and Annie Jackson Williams. She was a homemaker and retired from Taylor Instrument Co. in Arden, where she worked as credit and collections manager. She was a member of Tirzah A.R.P. Church where she was active in the Tirzah Women of the Church. She was also active in York County Community Leaders. She attended Winthrop Training School and was a 1948 graduate of Winthrop College.
Surviving: husband, Alva E. "Jack" Crump of the home; sons, Steve Crump and Tommy Crump, both of Rock Hill, S.C.; daughter, Linda Daughtridge of Zebulon; brother, Jimmy Williams of Rock Hill, S.C.; sister-in-law, Virginia Williams of Rock Hill, S.C.; grandchildren, Hannah Crump, Benjamin Crump and Patrick Crump, all of Rock Hill, S.C., Ryan Daughtridge and Kelly Daughtridge, both of Zebulon.

Mary Shaw Bass, 86, a lifelong resident of Raleigh, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Mayview Convalescent Center. funeral service was Tuesday, March 8, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home chapel. Burial was at Montlawn Memorial Park.
She was born June 4, 1918, in Wake County, daughter of the late Joseph Samuel Shaw Sr. and Maude Buffaloe Shaw. She was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Bass, in 1988.
Surviving: sons, Ashley Bass and wife Carolyn of Fuquay-Varina, Hugh Bass and wife Mary Lou of Raleigh; daughters, Judy Lee and husband John of Zebulon, Janet Bass of Raleigh; grandchildren, William E. Joseph Edwards Kirk Jr., 85, of Wellington Nursing Center, Knightdale, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005. funeral service was Friday, March 11, at Beacon Baptist Church, Raleigh. Burial was at Montlawn Memorial Park.
He was born in Raleigh April 3, 1919, son of the late Rob Kirk and Hattie Kirk. He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and a retiree of the Colonial Stores. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Bumgardner Kirk; brother, Melvin Kirk; and sisters, Vivian Branch and Cleona Grogan.
Surviving: wife, Elizabeth Kirk; stepson, George Betti; nieces, Carolyn P. Chasteen, Billie Marie Cyrus, Nancy Lynn; nephew, Taft Kirk; special niece, Stacey Hinnant; several other nieces and nephews.

Helen Autry Hales Dunlap
Helen Autry Hales Dunlap, 78, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Heritage Hills Nursing Home, Wadesboro. funeral service was Friday, March 11, at Calvary Episcopal Church. Interment was in Eastview Cemetery.
She was born in Spring Hope April 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Hallie Brantley Wheless and Ralph Aaron Hales. She was a member of the first coed class admitted to Wake Forest College, where she received her bachelor of science degree. She was an honor student and a member of numerous science clubs as well as the glee club. She was also a graduate of Bowman Gray School of Medical Technology. She spent several years in the medical profession before beginning a high school teaching career. She taught biology and chemistry at Wadesboro City and Anson County schools for many years. She bred Boston terriers for several years.

Allen Addison Hunt, 68, of Wendell, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Rex Healthcare. Memorial service was Monday, March 14, at Strickland Funeral Home chapel, Wendell. Interment was in the family cemetery, 410 David Road.
A native of Osage County, Okla., he was born January 11, 1937, son of the late Jasper Louis and Stella Jeuel Rhoads Hunt. He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Lewis Hunt; brother, Acie Hunt; and sister, Nell.
Surviving: wife of 44 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Hunt; daughter, Heather H. Wallig and fiance' Howard of Wendell; grandchildren, Brooke Wallig, Shari-ann and Kylian Hunt.

Allen Dale Clark
Allen Dale Clark, 64, of Knightdale, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at WakeMed. funeral service was Friday, March 11, at Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park.
A native of High Point, he was a graduate of N.C. State University and was retired from state government where he was the applications development manager with the Department of Transportation. He was an active member of SEANC. He owned and operated Wendell Tax Service. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was an active member of the Wendell Lions Club where he served as secretary-treasurer for many years and recently received the 'Jack Stickley Fellow Award' for humanitarian services.
Surviving: wife, Gayle Hudson Clark; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Clark of the home; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Drexel Robinson of Alabama; nephew, Bo Robinson; niece, Meredith Curtis; great-niece, Brittany; extended family, Diane and Duane Smith and their family, and John and Pat Evans.

Mary K. Beavers Grogan, 74, of Zebulon, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Hillhaven-Sunnybrook Convalescent Center. funeral service was Sunday, March 13, at L. Harold Poole funeral service chapel, Knightdale. Burial was at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon.
She was born in Raleigh County, W.Va., January 18, 1931, daughter of the late W.I. Beavers and Mary Hammond Beavers. She enjoyed painting and gave private art lessons in her home. She also was a children's swim instructor. She was a member of Zebulon United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for 25 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Nathaniel "Perry" Grogan, April 11, 2004; and brother, Wiley Iaeger Beavers Jr.
Surviving: daughters, Marcia G. Elkins and husband Joe of Knightdale, Carol G. Dalton and husband Jay of Cary; grandchildren, Brittany L. Thomasson, Claire E. Dalton, Chloe G. Dalton; brother, David R. Beavers of Altamont Springs, Fla.
