Bettie Ruth Henry Mayfield, 82, celebrated her homecoming July 2, 2014.
Bettie was born
to James Cornell & Eunice White Henry on November 21, 1931 in Avondale Estates, Georgia. She was an avid sports fan, always cheering for the Atlanta Braves and she enjoyed a good book almost as much as she enjoyed a cup of coffee with a friend. She was a skilled artisan, sharing her knitting, crocheting & macramé with friends and family. She also protected and cared for a herd of animals throughout her life. She is pre-deceased by her parents and youngest son, Thomas Franklin Mayfield in 2009.
Bettie is survived by her Daughter, Shirley from Oak Island, NC, her son, James from Arlington, Texas, Granddaughter Courtnie of Dallas, Texas, Grandson Ross, of Arlington, Texas and Daughter-in-Law, Susan Mayfield of Russellville, Arkansas.
She enjoyed the company of dear friends, Dot Wilson, Ann Robinson, Wanda Dick, Marion Casen, Susan Mylod, Susan Hare and Cindy Mullins as well as her friends at MWR on Camp LeJeune, NC and her faithful pup, Fanci.
The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to staff at the Kempton in Wilmington, the nurses & staff at the Emergency Department and 6th, 7th & 10th floors at NHRMC and the care given by the staff at the Brunswick Hospice House.

Frances Elizabeth Rudisill Todd
Southport - Frances Elizabeth Rudisill Todd
Frances Elizabeth Rudisill Todd, at the age of 93 passed away on June 30, 2014 at Dosher Nursing Center in Southport, North Carolina where she had lived since February 2013. She was a native of Charlotte, North Carolina and moved to Oak Island, North Carolina in 2006.
Frances was born
December 9, 1920, in Badin, North Carolina, but the family later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the daughter of George Miller Rudisill and Jenny Haigler Rudisill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Rudisill King Parker, husband, Calvin Berryhill Todd, and daughter, Patricia Todd Whisnant.
Frances was awarded a Lifetime Membership to Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School, was president of the Women of the Church, Elder, circle leader for many years, served on the decorating committee and many other leadership committees in her church and community. She retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg School System Pupil Accounting Department. She was selected to be president of the residents of Dosher Nursing Center by the staff. Frances was a wonderful mother who loved her family, enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, decorating, working in the yard where she loved her pretty flowers, and was very creative and fun loving.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Todd Rawlins and Donna Todd Joyner and her husband Roy Joyner; grandchildren, Jay Rawlins, Kevin Rawlins, Jenny and Jeff Mehaffey, Mandy and Eddie Hilton, Amy Broome, Todd and Melissa Whisnant; great grandchildren, Colton Mehaffey, Carson Olivia Mehaffey, Max Mehaffey, Sy Hilton, and Laney Grace Hilton, Colby Todd Whisnant; and one great great grandchild, Abby Mehaffey.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 11am – 12noon at the church.

Samuel “Sam” Bellettiere
St. James Plantation - Samuel James “Sam” Bellettiere
Samuel James “Sam” Bellettiere, age 74, of St. James Plantation died peacefully at his home on Monday, June 30, 2014.
Mr. Bellettiere was born
October 23, 1939. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bellettiere earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Josephs University in Philadelphia. He was a chemist and worked for various companies in the paint and coatings industry. Mr. Bellettiere retired here from California ten years ago and enjoyed living in St. James. He loved golf, bridge, poker and billiards, and was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Dorothy “Dot” Bellettiere of the home; three children, Thesesa Barbara Bellettiere, Michael Bellettiere, and Karen and husband Tom Pursel, all of Pennsylvania; three stepchildren, Jack Larson of New Jersey, Susan Larson of Colorado, and James Larson of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Michael Bellettiere Jr., Mia Bellettiere, Natalie Pursel, Ava Pursel, and Audrey Pursel, and Zachary Larson.
A memorial service will be held at the St. James Chapel at a later date.

Frankie Allen Brown Jr.
Leland - Mr. Frankie Allen Brown
Mr. Frankie Allen Brown Jr., age 41, of Leland died Thursday June 26, 2014.
Frankie was born
in Jupiter, Florida on July 15, 1972 and was the son of Donna Tarallo of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and the late Frankie Allen Brown Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife Aimee West Brown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and drag racing.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his two daughters, Colbie Brown and Kelsie Brown both of Leland; a brother, Johnny Brown and wife Sheila and their daughter, Makenzie of Bolivia.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 2pm at the Peacock-Newnam & White funeral service Chapel, Southport with Pastor Bobby Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Robbins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday June 30th from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Stacy Lynn Smith
Winnabow - Stacy Lynn Smith, age 51, of Winnabow passed away at his home.
Stacy was born
September 27, 1962, son of Shelton “Radio” and Annette Johnson Smith of Winnabow. He was a former longtime employee with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Stacy coached tee ball and softball at Town Creek Park and was very active and enjoyed his part in a prison ministry. He was an excellent mechanic, an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors in addition to his parents include two daughters, Brooke Smith of Boiling Spring Lakes and Sara Hatch and husband Jonathan of Southport; brother, Spencer Smith and wife Cynthia of Roxboro; sister, Sylvia Ashley and husband Rod of Winnabow and special friend, Kristy Smith of Boiling Spring Lakes; one niece, Ashley Pittman and husband Nick and their sons, Ryan and Caleb of Knightdale; two nephews, Joseph and Jacob Ashley of Winnabow.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel in Southport with Reverend Ron Capps and Reverend Doug Fairfax officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Scott, Tommy Gore, Craig Morrison, Jimmy Nelson, Greg Swain, and Glenn “Cotton” Mobley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Stephen Buchy
Winnabow - Stephen Buchy, 90 of Winnabow, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia.
Mr. Buchy was born
January 9, 1924 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and was retired from General Motors. Mr. Buchy attended Generations Church in Southport.
Surviving are two step-daughters Joan DeMarco of Winnabow and Maureen Verchick of New Jersey; a brother Paul Buchy of California; six grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and a niece Diane of Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Troy Knight officiating.
